Our homeowners association hired Ms. Powers because we had heard that she was an experienced HOA attorney. The Board was having a internal dispute and wanted Ms. Powers to help settle its issues. Ms. Powers attended our meeting and acted like a mediator. However, her presence made the Board even more antagonistic and did not resolve anytime. She made mountains out of molehills trying to scare us, and billed our association thousands by writing lengthy convoluted letter. I think our association would have resolved its issues with hiring Ms. Powers. Also, she does not respond to emails or phone calls quickly.

My first impression of Ryan was that he seemed smart and knowledgeable of the laws pertaining to my situation. However, in retrospect I wish I worked with someone who was a little less self-confident and a little more willing to put the time and effort into the details of the work that he was paid to do.

Believe the negative reviews. A terrible experience for me! This lawyer Marvin Adviento come to represent all the ugly and rancid stereotypes that attorneys are known for: cold, inattentive, lying, disappearing and not responding your calls and emails for months and totally unprofessional! He kept my case for so long and did absolutely 0 for the whole case during 2 years. He told me we need to go to the deposition to get more money and then disappeared for months with no response. During 2 years the depo never happened! He promised me he would send inspections to my unit , that there will be more additional work done. He has done literally nothing for 2 years. Every question you ask him about his behavior he either avoid to answer or twisting the truth. When you tell him to help with what lawyer supposed to do like talking to the other side- he threaten you to leave the case. He doesn’t care about your case or your situation or outcome of the case. He disappeared many times for months ignoring my call and emails, he wasted 2 years of time and he has done absolutely 0 work for the case, none. He didn’t even care to read all materials and evidences I provided and work with it. The worst experience ever! If I could give 0 stars I would!

Marvin claims he is an eviction attorney however after 60 day notice he was not able to evict my tenant. He had served the wrong documents to the tenant! He was unaware of the new TPA law. I had to start all over again and he would not return my money. He also does not return your calls or emails. Stay away!

This attorney had the worst follow through. He would take 2-3 days to answer an email. I paid him $500 to serve a tenant with the intention of going to trial. He served her and ghosted me. After 3 weeks of numerous emails and phone numbers, I gave up and hired someone else.

As other reviewers have mentioned, Ms. Brauer charges high fees, but did very little. She is hard to reach. I don't think she needs new clients, or it's a strategy to make her seem important. In any case, when I asked why they are recommending that I withdraw the case at the end of my ordeal, she (or her assistant) told me that it is because they did not expect the other attorney to do so much research and build such a strong case. Really?

Laurel Brauer and her partner Colleen Hemingway have absolutely no business practicing family law. They present horribly in the courtroom, Ms Brauer stumbles and fails to articulate minor points. Their fees are exorbitant, and they are judgmental, rude, and lazy---they never arrive in the office before 10, and they are never in court either. Ms. Hemingway was buddy buddy with my ex husband, and was blatantly taking his side even though he violated a number of court orders regarding custody. If they had an issue with me, which they did, they should have made their bias known, and I would have sought other counsel, which I did ultimately, but $60,000 later and too late. They refused to represent my interests, and were clearly only experienced in financial issues regarding family law, not custody issues, In a 3 month time frame, they collected over 60k and resolved almost nothing. They were so late in filing emergency orders when my ex husband decided to move against court orders it proved disastrous to my children. They attacked me, my parenting, my personality, my clothes, and my relationships with every person in my life. Ms Hemingway has no children, but dispensed more parenting advice than legal advice, I was mocked and ridiculed by them for taking my kids out for fun weekend events, rescuing and keeping a stray dog, and having big birthday celebrations for the kids. They were supposed to fill adverse interests on the 401k and did not, enabling my ex to move funds and deplete the account. I don't know how they stay in business, but if you are going to pay $500 an hour I suggest you contact an a phenomenal female attorney in Tustin with a great reputation in the courts that actually works to represent your needs. These are two of the most dishonest people I have met in my 2 year divorce nightmare.

I never received a statement from this attorney (for three months) until I fired her (she claimed to not have email for 50 days). The bill was $9,000 for one filing of a boiler plate document and for a very unprofessional letter she sent on my behalf without my approval. The rest of the bill was padded with redundancies and review after review of what? I don't know! She additionally missed a filing deadline with the Court and expected me to pay for drafts of which should have been filed that I never saw. I cannot understand an attorney who claims to have no email for 50 days and whose website has been "temporarily under repair" for weeks on end. There are some very good attorneys out there and Laurel Brauer is not one of them. I have filed for an arbitration hearing regarding my statement and have filed a complaint against her with the Orange County Bar Association. She won't even respond to my letters regarding disputing her fees. She has her associate do so. She also informed me when I hired her that she had an office in Los Angeles. Apparently she does not and has not for some time. Find another lawyer.

Showed up late for court. Was unaware of basic case law. The judge had to repeatedly educate him. Left our hearing to answer his phone. Very poorly trained attorney. Turned a simple case into something not winnable.

We hired Isaac for what we thought was a very simple breach of contract case. He showed up late for the court case and left twice in the middle of our hearing to answer his cellphone. The judge had to inform him of some of the laws around the case as he apparently had quoted some no longer existent law. Overall, very unhappy. We ended up letting Mr. Zfaty go and hiring another attorney.

I made an appointment with Darren Nguyen for my immigration case after watching a TV commercial on the Vietnamese channel SBTN. I arrived to the attorney office 15 minutes before my appointment to fill out documents. The receptionist told me to take a sit in the waiting room. I ended up waiting one hour before I could come to Mr. Nguyen's office to wait for another 30 minutes. He accepted to take care of my case after briefly speaking with me for 10 minutes. After I hired him and made payment to him, I was extremely disappointed about the practice of his office. He did not handle my case; instead, he has very young attorneys to do the job. They did not seem to understand my case. They were not informed about the elements I told to Darren Nguyen during my appointment. I decided to hire a different attorney for my case.

Keith Dolnick is unprofessional at best. Initially felt hopeful for resolution after retaining his services for what should have been a very simple divorce. His lack of responsiveness and care for paying clients is disappointing. Unsure if it was "too small" a case for him to care or if he maintains a lackadaisical tempo in every area of life, but if you want your case moved forward or resolved- 10/10 would not recommend Keith. Ethically questionable and I wish I'd paid more attention to warning reviews online prior to wasting time and money only to retain an attorney that was competent and thorough enough to close my case.

I had an opportunity to work with Ms. Muldoon. She is abrasive, rude and condescending. She makes it appear like she knows a lot and really she doesn't. Sad to see the that lawyers like her give that profession a bad reputation. If you are thinking of hiring her, stay away and save your money for another attorney who will be cheaper and represent your interest.

It took me two years to escape the mess and abuse in California I moved to another state and try to keep my new life hidden from my ex who was physically abusive which was why I left California in the first place but somebody named David K Compton decides to send a letter to both of us giving both of our new addresses and work information in there to where my ex can now see where I live do what I'm doing and where I work and I will sue him for HIPAA violation because I have a restraining order against my ex and now he knows everything about me thank you maybe next time you should do your homework if something happens to me you are responsible .

On October 26, 2020, I received a text message: (833) 885-7666‬ Mortgage Assistance Available A+ Rated with the BBB. If you still need help with your home, please visit: www.homelawsolutions.com/help Reply STOP to opt-out. I did contact the Mn attorney, Brodie D. Hacken, and was told by him that he is not associated with this group and has not for the past two years. Under the TCPA and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations, it is illegal for a company to send text messages using autodialers unless the consumer gave consent to receive the message or the message was sent for emergency reasons. As of October 2013, the FCC issued new regulations that require businesses to obtain written, signed consent before they can send text messages to consumers. This applies even if the consumer has not placed their cell phone on the Do-Not-Call list. When a company breaks the law and sends out spam text messages, the recipient can seek up to $500 per message – a fine that can increase to $1500 per text if the company willfully violated the law.

I am not bitter with the situation, I just want people to know what happened in my case before they hire him on retainer. Everything in this review is what happened in the case that he represented me for.Kevin represented me in a criminal matter. He was helpful with getting me in to a program which I truly am grateful for. However, when I hired him for a second time, I was misinformed by him and paid the price for it. (I did break the law and deserved punishment.) . But with his guidance, I did not do what I was obligated to do by probation. He instructed me to keep quiet and not tell probation what had happened. I trusted his judgment and did what he said only to have it come back at me as an additional violation. I have been on probation for 2 1/2 years and had no violations. I admit, I messed up and I'm not blaming kevin, and I was violated. My first violation was maxed out- 1 year in county jail. You can do the research, most if not all 1st violations are 90 days for the same violation that I did. Once in front of that judge in C58, the violation court room, I had him represent me again, hoping he could clear up the miscommunication. He simply did not know how that courtroom operates. He was warned by the DA "that is not how it works here". He then shushed her and pushed the case to another date and judge and stormed out of the room. Negative words were said about his actions by all the court officials. I'm not a lawyer, but the mood in the room was poor. I thought this was his way of handling the situation and I kept my faith in him. When he came to me with what the penalty was and what my options were, he misguided me again. He told me that I would be getting x amount of credits. When the judge read the sentence, those credits were not included. I looked at him with disbelieve and he assured me that he would get those credits for me and not to worry. Again, I trusted his judgment and believed him. I later found out, that there was no way I could get those credits because I was not going to prison, I was serving county jail time. Another attorney told me that fact and also said, every criminal attorney knows the procedure. Thats not the issue I had with our relationship. I did the crime, I'll do the time. It was exactly what I needed to get my life back on track. The issue I had is this; while I was in jail, my mother was corresponding with Kevin. Her experience was less then professional. When asked about credits, he kept saying "I'll get them, don't worry he will be out in June.... Where is the remaining balance he owes me?" Mind you we have paid him well over $80k over the last couple of yrs. and I owed him less then $1000. After emails to my mother calling her "stupid" and other terrible things, we finally paid him the balance. He came back and said , " oh yeah I can't get him those credits" in June, after months of him saying" it's just paperwork I need to file" I am not bitter at the situation, I do wish he had a little more "bedside manor" when dealing with my mother. After more disrespecting emails, we fired him and hired a new attorney who had me released from jail the following week before my sentence ended. He had a sentence modification done. My new attorney told me that I should never have had to go to jail in the first place. These are truly the facts of what happened. I am not spiteful, or hostile. This is what happened.

I recently had a very unpleasnt interaction with Lynne Bolduc. I was refered by my current attorney to her. After a two short calls and email exchanges it appeared to me the advice I was being given was inaccurate according to the statute she provided me. When I questioned her about this she claimed I was harassing her and that she would block me on email. I felt horrible and couldnt umderstand why she would respond that way. I shared this with my attorney who referred me to her and they apologized to me for her unprofessional behavior. They also couldnt see any grounds for her responding that way. In retrospect I believe that with all Lynnes experience she has not learned how to be humble and admit when she has given inaccurate advice. She would rather "act a fool" and "slightly on the crazy side" than own up to a mistake. In my opinion she "lost it" when I brought forward discrepancies in the advice she gave to the statute she shared with me to support her advice. I would look elsewhere for an attorney.

Richard is completely incompetent and has little knowledge on what he’s doing. He also drags out hours to take your money and bill you more than needed. Things that should take one week have taken months. He has lied on multiple occasions and had put myself and the opposing party in several unfavorable positions. His work is lazy and has no eye for detail. He often contradicted himself in his documentation. He has little knowledge in his field. I was initially impresssed. He agreed to represent me. My opinion changed after I realized he had much larger fish to fry...and my case took a lower priority. I asked for a bill; I got charged for services that preceded the date I retained him. Wow. These charges were about $4,000. I appropriatedly questioned the bill. I received an email telling me he wasn't going to represent me. I also got a revised bill that still over charged me. It took him awhile to resolve the dispute. While he is quite wealthy....and I am not....he held my money the whole time the bill was disputed. He fought terribly hard not to give me any money back even though the dispute was small.

Kenneth Scott August, Esq. When a powerhouse law firm reviewed my case, it was discovered that Kenneth August, Esq. breached his fiduciary duties multiple times. His actions were egregious causing damages resulting in millions lost, including damage to reputations. Do you not stake your life or business with this man. You will regret it. How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.

Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
