With all the years of experience shared between the attorneys at Sanzone & Baker, it's all but assured you'll be provided reasonable and logical counsel. Their team made certain I'd understand what could and couldn't be accomplished in the moment, but offered sound alternatives to pursue my intended goals. The law can be overwhelming for the average citizen with a solid grasp on the intricacies involved therein. I'd recommend ALWAYS having an attorney present for ANY legal issues. If you're going to be represented, shouldn't you desire the best representation you can find? Of course, you should. Look no further.

Absoluety clueless with her advice, a robber of money and a liar in the court room. Don't know how still has her license. Incompetent fraud, utterly uneducated in the field of law. My new lawyer laughed at her work. Don't waste your money. She is a fraud and doesn't know law! Garbage!

Mr. Morrison handled my divorce. My personal and emotional well being was always a priority, after my consultation he immediately guided me to attend counseling. Throughout the entire long painful process of divorce I always felt encouraged knowing my legal counsel worked hard to help me get the final result I desired and needed. Frank Morrison is truly a man of great character. I highly recommend him.

Frank Morrison was retained by our family for a custody case. He provided an initial no fee consultation via phone, and immediately went to work once retained. From the moment that he and his assistant Jenny became involved, I could tell that they were as invested as we were in the safety and well-being of the child. Dealing with some unique circumstances throughout the case was very stressful for us as a family, and at times we were not all on the same page, but Frank expertly used his mediation skills and had us back on track before we even knew what he was doing. The team was responsive throughout the case and flexible throughout the case - never missed an appointment and even worked weekends to accommodate our schedules, with us being out of the area the majority of the time. He was fair as it related to billing and fees - we never felt as if they were milking the clock or managing the case for his benefit. Every step we took he advised us of what our options were, including those that resulted in less billable time for him, and what we could go at alone or to help shave off time he needed to give. I cannot reiterate just how stressful a custody case can be, but Frank was as committed as we were, so it made each step a little more tolerable. When you hire an attorney it is not only for the time they spend on the case, but for the reputation they have in the jurisdiction; the guidance they provide, as you navigate one of the most horrific things you can go through; the knowledge that comes with experience that no lay person would ever have a reason to know; and the peace of mind that comes with knowing that you are not alone in this. In our case Frank represented the paternal side of the case, and despite how the laws may have evolved, the mentality of most jurisdictions do not treat fathers in the same manner as mothers when it comes to custody. Deadbeat dads have been a term that society has become accustomed to, along with the mentality that a child is automatically better off in the primary care of its biological mother - which is just not always the case. It was nice to have someone who understood that and did not subscribe to that antiquated way of thinking. So while I hope to never need Frank's services ever again, I would not hesitate to reach out to him again and recommend him for anyone who is looking for an attorney, an advocate, an adviser, and an ally all-in-one.

I hired Mr. Morrison when seeking a divorce. Mr. Morrison has let this case drag on for over 2 years and has not accomplished the things he said he would be able to do. When I question why things are not happening he always says that the other lawyer is not doing what he is supposed to do. However when we were in court it was the other lawyer that seemed well prepared and confident. Mr. Morrison also told me I needed to bring someone to court with me to testify that my husband and I were living separate and apart. I told Mr. Morrison I did not want this person to know my financial information but he proceeded to discuss my financial information with her in the room showing no respect for my request to keep my information confidential. When I arrived for my appointment yesterday Mr. Morrison was not there. When he finally arrived he said he had to leave again and for me to stay and update my budget with office staff. I regret hiring this attorney.

Two years ago during a very difficult time, as all divorces are, I thought Marcy was doing right by me. Now I come to find out that she never had my best interests at heart. Being in a relationship with a narcissistic individual I had been poorly treated for years and doubted my gut feelings and was naïve to believe that he would be fair about things. Two years removed from the abusive situation I am now realizing this. I have researched the terms of our agreement and do not understand or see how I was ever supposed to pay the alimony this WOMAN said I should be paying. I have spoken to lawyers since the divorce was finalized and I have found out that there is no calculator that has me paying him alimony. I realize that this is all on me, but unless you have ever been in a situation where you were manipulated and gaslight for years you can't understand how that can destroy you as a person. Marcy had access to all the same calculators that every other lawyer has access too and should have known that alimony did not need to be paid. I feel like she was swayed by him and should have been impartial. I would not recommend to anyone to go to her. Get a lawyer that is working for you and you alone!!

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
