When starting the Chapter 7 process we felt so lost and frustrated not knowing who to trust and where to turn. When dealing with a lawsuit, I typically like to have a discussion (or a couple) with the leading attorney in regards to the case records and litigation strategy as I feel much can be learned. I have dealt with many lawyers over the years, Vanessa is the best that I have dealt with. Even though she has not been practicing for a long time, her understanding of the law and research skills are top notch, you would think she has 30 years of experience when dealing with her. My experience with lawyers is similar to my experience with doctors, they don't get back to you, make you wait, and have limited patience. Vanessa is the opposite. We suffered damage to our roof during hurricane Ian. Make a long story short, we settled our case with the insurance company and are ready to move ahead with roof replacement. During my 37 year career as a law enforcement officer and as Chief of Police for the past 16 years I have worked with many attorneys. Cliff Shepard is without a doubt on top of my list as an advocate for his clients. In recent litigation involving a multi million dollar lawsuit many lawyers wanted to settle the claim after arbitration. Cliff took the position we had done nothing wrong and insisted on going to trial if need be. Sam was a relief from my crazy, stressful case. I went through a tough divorce, and things got really contentious. We thought things would be easy and amicable and then out of no where my ex started shutting down accounts, hiding money, and accusing me of everything he could think of.
She had just the right touch of when to be aggressive and when to negotiate. She was so knowledgeable and great in court. She was clearly more prepared than the other lawyer and had all the evidence ready to go!
What really stuck out to me is that she remembered my kids names, even when I called out of the blue. She was so open with me and transparent about what my options were and what it would cost. I have litigated several cases against Mr. Meltz over the years and Chuck is one f the most professional and brightest attorneys with whom I have ever had the pleasure of litigating. Mr. Meltz has consistently put the best interests of his clients above his own financial interests time and time again. While many insurance defense attorneys generate paperwork designed primarily to bill the client, I have never seen Chuck Meltz file anything or send me anything that was not designed to do anything but flush out facts and issues helpful to the defense of the case.
