Mr. Thomas met with me on extremely short notice and provided me with the legal counsel that I desperately needed. I was approaching the end of a contract that I believed to be shady, (it demanded a high contract-breaking fee), and I wanted to know if it was legal to hold me to the amount given my current situation. Mr. Thomas walked me through three different avenues of contract termination without providing a bias towards any. When I sought his personal opinion, the choice ended up being the one that was in my best interest. I recently lost my wife to cancer. My step-children consider themselves mine, and did not want to go live with their bio-dad. My situation was confusing, stressful, and heart-breaking. I have worked with Mark Walsh on several cases in the past. The most recent was a multi-party construction contact, in which we were sued by the General Contractor and then we countersued. Eventually, the suit included numerous parties, (Consulting Engineer, General Contractor, several Sub-Contractors and Material Suppliers). In working with Mark in the past, it was easy to recognize his capabilites regarding law, however, i had not, before this case, spent time with him in a mediation. During this multi-party suit, i saw abilities in Mark that i had not seen before. During the mediation, he showed proficiency in presenting technical issues (I am a Civil Engineer, and this case involved technical Civil Engineering issues), but more importantly, he was direct, strong, though fair, and unbending with the mediator when he needed to be. At the conclusion of the mediation, i felt we received an award in an amount well in excess of the amount i anticipated, and felt that was due to the approach that Mark took throughout the mediation. There is law, and then there is the application of law in the various settings (court, mediation, arbitration, etc), the ability to stress the critical points at the appropriate time, and the ability to negotiate, and the knowledge and experience when not to negotiate down from your position. As i said, i felt i had seen Mark's capabilities in the field of law before this case, however, as a result of this case, i saw a broader view of his capabilities in this field, and feel even more comfortable because of that going forward.

I recommend both Jan and Scott.....Even though my journey was long and I had many, many questions, both Jan and Scott gave me the answers and helped calm my anxiety. I highly recommend them and appreciate all they did for me. I had a lot of guilt and concern about not being able to pay back what I owed even though I had been trying ... The last straw was when all the creditors started raising all the interest rates and doubling the minimum monthly payments. A change in jobs, a decline in my son's and my own health with lots of medical expenses, along wtih other issues led me to finally pursue relief. I had gone through a divorce and job loss that left me with huge unsecured debts. I felt that I could never pay back what I owed to the creditors. My phone rang starting from 8am to 9pm with threats to take everything I have and perhaps to even go to jail. I am 50 year sold and prided myself on paying what I owed and when I owed. But with such unexpected life changing events, the divorce and job loss, I took it personally and became very depressed and withdrawn.
A good friend from church recommended that I contact Jan Pederson at Lemke & Pederson in McKinney. I was ashamed and scared when first I walked into her office. Jan Immediately empathized with my situation and made me feel that it wasn't really my fault... these things can happen no matter how hard you try and prepare for the worst. She assured me there is a solution and that I would benefit both financially and emotionally from.
I could not afford her entire fee right away, but retained her services for $100. And the $100 was the best money I EVER spend. That retainer gave me the right to tell creditors when they call that I was filing for bankruptcy, my lawyers name is..., her phone number ..., and that I was told not to answer any question and they should now refrain from calling me. All the calls stopped within days! It took me a few months to save for the entire fee, but during that period, not one more call. The actual bankruptcy hearing was set quickly and the creditors meeting lasted about 5 minutes... and I was free from over $100,000 in debt for a fraction of that in fees.
Jan and her entire staff are very personable and understands how emotional this is for someone. She will put you at ease! I have and will continue to recommend anyone to call her for assistance or advice.

Due to a wild past, I was assumed guilty from the moment I showed my drivers license. Over a span of 30 years I had accrued 3 convictions for possession of a controlled substance, and served 3 prison terms in Texas already for the exact same controlled substance that I found myself charged with last year. The police, once they ran my record, impounded the car so they could search at leisure. They found a baggie of residue dropped by my passenger as I was being arrested for no insurance. They let him walk away, unquestioned, unsearched. The gears turned: Once guilty, always guilty... but 3 times convicted and sentenced? Well, lets just say they were enthusiastic. They "confused" where they found it, making it look worse. One "claimed" he witnessed "tracks" on my arms. The Grand Jury indicted. The D.A. enhanced 0.1 gram to a 3rd degree TDC felony, filing: 'Habitual'. It looked so bad that some big name local lawyers wanted $10,000 just to plea bargain the case.
I had heard of an ex Prosecutor who was extremely good at finding fault in police procedure: "Bill Wirskye". I found his website, and articles on-line about him. I read that he was an expert at many aspects of law. He seemed to have talents, skill, and knowledge in layers. I met with him on a Saturday. Typical of what I came to know and admire as his style and demeanor, he said little, made no promises, and said one particular thing that was opposite from all the others I'd spoken with, which was: "Well, I believe you are in a whole lot less trouble than you think." I asked about my odds for dismissal on grounds of illegal search. He was non-committal, and completely honest. He said: "I don't know, but if there was any violation of your rights, or police procedure, I will sniff it out. I asked about his fee. He gave me the lowest figure I had heard yet, apart from the "mail fliers" that follow an arrest like buzzards offering: "$500 plea bargains - COME ON DOWN!" I only had $300 to offer as a retainer. Bill Wirskye took the case, and if I had only known what I know now, I would have quit worrying right then and there, but instead, I began to spiral into depression and anxiety. Mr Wirskye made an excellent 'babysitter' during those months. Telling me to be patient, and calm, that time was our ally. I was anything but calm. I developed a skin inflammation at my ears, and one anxiety-ridden morning on the way to court I scratched my ear until I bled all over my suit and tie. I told Mr Wirskye I was going to be late. He told me not to worry, he had already been and reset the date in my absence. 15 months later, the case was "Dismissed in the interest of Justice". Mr Wirskye casually text'd the news to me using about 5 words... characteristic of himself. By the time this was done, Mr. Wirskye had such a list of errors, "inconsistencies", illegal pretenses and procedures by the arresting officers in Irving that had the D.A.'s office not conceded when they did, I have no doubt that by the time he was finished the arresting officer would have feared jail himself. "The pretense of doing an impound inventory in order to search was illegal", "leaving the passenger in the car unattended for far too long during my arrest was improper", I had told the officer he could search me for weapons but declined to let him dig in my pockets, "the subsequent search became a possible civil rights violation". "the film footage of the arrest clearly contradicted the police report concerning the location of the substance"... Mr Wirskye had so many layers of armor around me that if they'd tried to get my case into court it would have been like peeling an onion trying to remove them all, & as the year had passed I'd become aware that this man would win any case he saw fit, if not one way, then another. He is a brilliant Attorney, with integrity, compassion, charity, and dignity, and I could not have asked for more. In the end, he gave me a break on the fee... almost 50%

I have no experience with Barnett outside what I witnessed during my fathers trial in which he was accused of very haineous allegations. While watching Barnett in the court room, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that he was dedicated to justice and would stop at nothing to see it served. We were sued by an individual over a house that we worked on as new construction. Mr Saunders was able to beat them in court the first time with no problem. After the individual dropped the suit in Denton County, he refiled in Dallas County. We went through 22 months of litigation, and again, with the help of Mr. Saunders, we were successful in the outcome. Then they sued us a third time in Dallas County for a personal injury that they tried to tie to the house that had alleged defective plumbing. Mr. Saunders was successful that round, as well.
I have worked with several attorneys in the past, and Mr Saunders is among the best. His professionalism is unsurpassed. He is extremely responsive to the needs of his client, and keeps the client updated throughout the case. Even during busy times when I had to leave a message, my call was returned in a timely manner.
