Dirk took over my worker's compensation case and social security case and won both in only year! He was able to resolve my cases quickly, efficiently, and made sure that I received all of the benefits I was due from my work. Dirk helped me with a Workers Comp case. His demeanor and knowledge during the deposition was impressive. I felt like I was on a winning team from the get-go. I was very nervous because I have never been examined like that before but as those two hours passed I knew he had my back. I called the office of Barbara May to inquire about a one time consultation. The secretary was incredibly rude. The whole conversation was infuriating. The secretary told me « let’s see first if you can afford our fees before anything. Then she told me we don’t have time for people like you who just seek advices » I was chocked. They charge 375 dollars for the first appointement and ask for $4000 before you even meet with them. They say they don’t have time to give people consultation, you have to choose them as long term attorney or they won’t give any advices on any matter. Where is humanity and kindness in all this? I never met Barbara but I know one thing her secretary sabotaged her work by being so hostile.

Barbara handled the litigation for my contested divorce that involved a lengthy, emotional custody battle. I had no understanding at the time how lucky I was to chance on her and her daughter Amy as my counsel. Pros: Intelligent, highly knowledgeable about Monterey family court system, years of experience, efficient with her time and yours
Cons: Often difficult to reach; calls and emails sometimes not returned for months, or at all. Reluctant to pursue cases that weren’t an easy win. Refused to help with a medical neglect/medical custody case, which several therapists and teachers told me I needed to pursue or myself be guilty of neglect. Preoccupied with wins vs doing what is right.

After $400/hour to Kari and $150/hour to paralegal. At the end of the day after 5 months of representation and thousands and thousands in legal fees you have no positive results. You will be pitched with experience and how aggressive and her matchups against other attorneys in town. Tooting one’s own horn and you get nothing to show for it. I hated the opposing attorney of my ex cause she lies and plays dirty. What am I telling you? The more aggressive attorney gets you results. You won’t find it here. Go elsewhere please. Ask why such a successful business can’t get the website working?

Mary was extremely helpful in my divorce that ended up taking over 2 years to complete. She always weighed in on what would be the best choice but put forth all the options. She even helped me get back on track after a time when I got caught up in moving and changing careers. She also was very transparent when helping me in areas she didn't normally practice, and went out of her way on several occasions to do what needed to be done. Review of JRG Attorneys At Law – A Disappointing Experience Regarding Gender Bias
I recently approached JRG Attorneys At Law, seeking legal assistance in a case involving a female defendant. To my profound disappointment, my case was turned down by Steven A. Barber. The explanation given for this decision was particularly disheartening – it was based on gender bias. I am a male plaintiff, and it was indicated that the firm did not wish to represent my case due to this fact, despite the female defendant being at fault and her own public confession.
Such a rationale for refusing legal service is not only deeply unsettling but also raises serious concerns about the firm's commitment to providing fair and unbiased representation. The notion that a legal case's merit could be overshadowed by the gender of the involved parties is a stark deviation from the principles of justice and equality.
I am compelled to express my sincere disappointment and disillusionment with JRG Attorneys At Law. The experience has led me to conclude that this firm may not be the right choice for anyone seeking unbiased legal representation, especially in cases involving protected categories like gender. It is crucial for legal practitioners to uphold the law impartially, without succumbing to societal biases or personal inclinations.
In light of this experience, I cannot recommend JRG Attorneys At Law to individuals who prioritize fair and equitable treatment in the legal system. Geoffrey was hired to help with a family matter. There were times where the court should be aware of things that did matter to me and would have greatly informed the court of what was going on. He would refuse to show the court the evidence. No logical reasons why. He also would refuse to look up laws and evaluate said laws which related to information pertained to the case and talk about them with me. There was also was a time where the other party wrote up an order which I objected to I was repeatedly ignored and he did not object to it so it became law/submitted by the other party and signed by a judge!. There was also times where he would ignore contact for months which ended up being detrimental later on which then caused more issues to the our family. He /Firm will come off initially as caring but when it came down to it they did not care about anything and you could tell they did not consider your point of view or what you want to present to the court. Billing issues was another think Geoffrey would ignore and not want to address which would also end up going months without being addressed.
It was a very disappointing and very frustrating experience.

After doing extensive research to find the best lawyer in Monterey County, we decided to choose Lawrence Biegel. He was referred to us by a few other attorneys who revered him as the “best around.”
Not only did I receive a much better than expected result after a lengthy trial, but Larry was extremely upfront and transparent about the costs involved which was extremely reassuring.
I highly recommend Lawrence Biegel as he is an outstanding lawyer who is extremely personable and cares a lot about his clients and getting them the best result possible.

I was a client of Lawrence Biegel during a political conflict with a local politician.
I was, and am, extremely dissatisfied with "Larry" Biegel both as a person and as an attorney.
I believe that "Larry" sacrificed me for his own personal political/monetary gain.
Avvo is a protective site and limits the discussion of debacles.
Suffice it to say; I felt that I did not receive the services I paid such a considerably large sum for.
Nor would I ever again trust Mr. Biegel's honesty or integrity. I believe he violated not only my civil rights but also violated the client/attorney confidence and facilitated injustices and injury upon me.
From my perspective, "Larry" behaved in a deceitful, disrespectful, harmful way and was destructive to me and my interests.
I felt threatened by not only his actions & words but in retrospect I think he manipulated me thru fear and his arrogance.
I would suggest the services of a true quality attorney and not those of such a lawyer like "Larry".

We work with Mr. Meyer in many landlord/tenant cases. He is very knowledgeable, and he works hard to fight for landlords. In California, landlords usually got the raw deals, but Mr. Meyer always found ways to protect us and reduce the eviction time. His work ethic, his professionalism, and his knowledge are outstanding. I highly recommend Mr. Meyer to all landlords who have issues with tenants. All the bad reviews are from sleazy tenants who can no longer abuse the California system and stay for free without paying landlords. If you are a landlord and have complex cases dealing with tenants, you should hire this law firm. If you have to deal with an unreasonable rent-control city, you should hire this law firm.

Failed to inform me of a court hearing; made an error in presenting evidnce that resulted in the judge throwing out all my evidence in the middle of a hearing; the day before court she completely changed tactics and tried to coach me to say the opposite information in court about what we had been discussing for months based on what actually happened; treated me in rude and defensive manner in the middle of a hearing that wasn't going well due to her evidence error and failing tactic; ate up time during the hearing taking multiple personal calls which caused the case to go into an extra day; automatically believed things opposing counsel tried to accuse me of that were false without even hearing me out first and berated me before asking what actually happened; Monterey is known for its clique-ish legal community and she was oviously concerned more about relationships with opposing counsel and judge than about me during my case
