I retained Cary Alan Cliff to represent me in a dissolution of marriage case. Unfortunately, my experience was profoundly disappointing due to his lack of professionalism, communication, and effectiveness, which caused significant financial and emotional distress. 1. Failure to Communicate via Agreed Method Despite my explicit request to communicate through email (which Mr. Cliff initially agreed to), he later refused, claiming it was inefficient. This lack of written documentation made it challenging to hold him accountable for his advice and actions. 2. Refusal to Consult on Key Decisions Mr. Cliff rejected a divorce agreement prepared by my husband’s legal counsel without consulting me. I only learned about the offer later through my husband. This unilateral decision denied me the opportunity to finalize the divorce on favorable terms. 3. Ignored Instructions Mr. Cliff failed to act on multiple urgent requests, including sending critical communication to the opposing party regarding new terms. Despite repeated follow-ups, he remained unresponsive, jeopardizing my case and causing unnecessary delays. 4. Neglect of Legal Duties I specifically requested Mr. Cliff to issue a summons and place a Lis Pendens on our marital property to protect it from being sold, since my name was not on Title Deed of our marital property. He ignored my instructions and dismissed my concerns. As a result, my husband sold the property, leaving me without a home and forcing me to incur additional legal expenses to address the situation. 5. Unreliable Legal Advice and Lack of Accountability Mr. Cliff assured me I could safely return to my marital residence, even agreeing to be available for calls that night. When the police arrived due to false claims from my husband, Mr. Cliff failed to answer or assist, leaving me stranded. He later dismissed the incident as outside his responsibility, forcing me to seek redress on my own. 6. Inefficient Work and Missed Deadlines Mr. Cliff often failed to meet critical deadlines and delayed important negotiations. He also exhibited unprofessional behavior, including inappropriate language during conversations. 7. Lack of Transparency After withdrawing from my case, Mr. Cliff ignored my requests for a detailed invoice and billing records. Overall, Mr. Cliff’s negligence and unprofessionalism had severe consequences, including the loss of my home and significant financial strain. His actions—or lack thereof—failed to protect my interests and caused irreparable harm. I urge potential clients to reconsider before hiring him and demand accountability for his conduct. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any questions about this case: 239-776-5334

HORRIBLE MAN …. His employees are awful and just everything to do with them is bad business! They do not care about you or anything. All they care about is the money and nothing else. Taken advantage of mentally disabled people and using their money . They do not give 2 craps about what mentally disabled people need or what is good for them. They simply just want to take their money and use it for them self and leave them without any personal allowance. They are doing very sneaky stuff with group homes in Naples and the word is going around. Something needs to be done and quickly before things get even worse.

This gentleman was involved in the obfuscation of knowledge of estate money from myself and my family, until the death of my beloved relative. When I called him on it and the fact that the trust company and others had claimed the funds for themselves he replied...I'm paraphrasing..." Oh now you care about your family member all of a sudden" This was right after she died and far from the truth. From what I understand either he and or his cohorts got away with approx. $100,000 of my families' money, knowing that I would not be able to cover attorney fees and travel expenses in order to claim my inheritance.

This man moves like a snail and if he know the opposing counsel he will take weeks to come to a resolution. After he spent two weeks on my case he said we (THE OPPOSING LAWYER) DO NOT AGREE WITH YOU. I said I thought you were my lawyer. He then l called me a F&AM A LIAR. He is a joke. He still refuses to pay me back after one week.

"Hello... Anybody home?" Was constantly going through my mind when setting across the desk from her. Those exact words actually came out of the judges mouth in the court room! She seemed to be on the edge of consciousness every time I laid eyes on her... Medically induced? I though so... either way I would not recommend to my worst enemy! I would have replaced her but the case was very weak and I though it would eventually be thrown out. I received ABSOLUTELY no help from Beller in the court room, did my best to be patient and ask my "lawyer" to nip this BS in the but with no help or effort on her part. Eventually the Judge became annoyed with the prosecutors inability to produce his "star witness" for the 3rd hearing in a row so I spoke up and asked about my right to a speedy trial (which was shot down) and asked for to case to be thrown out based on the lack of real evidence / witnesses (which was shot down). Court date was postponed AGAIN! Prosecutor offered an awesome plea bargain which I took out of sheer frustration and lack of confidence in the local legal system. All on a case that in my opinion should have never made it in front of a judge.... Thanks again Ms Georgette...

I hired Misbah Farid for my divorce. In 3 months, all she did was file the divorce papers. I had a major issue and called her 16 times to which I got NO return phone call, just a bill for all my calls. I told her I could only afford a certain $$ amount monthly to then which went 6 times the amount I could pay. This attorney cannot be trusted to do what she says she will do. I put my life in her hands and she did absolutely NOTHING!!!!!

I would not recommend hiring Mr. Skrivan for legal assistance. After my father passed away, I was in need of legal guidance with his estate. He never answered my phone calls or replied to my emails. He did not follow through with my instructions and he dismissed my concerns. It has been almost one year and my father's estate has not been distributed. Mr. Skrivan terminated his professional relationship by a letter without explaining why and he kept $2,000. I'm very disappointed in myself because I had trusted him. Do not hire him.

I would not recommend this atty or the office that she works out of which is the office of Eloise Taylor in Hudson Florida. This atty has no back bone and is not a fighter. I was told by her that I did not need any witnesses for trial as she said that the judge would not be hearing any. Only to findout that the opposing team had several witnesses and we were not able to disprove the accusations made. Also there were 2 occasions that we did not have to show up for hearings that the opposing side knew, and we did not. Thus adding additional charges to an already over inflated lawyer expense. I never felt like this office or this atty were on my side or had my back. It was just like easy money to them. The case should have been resolved in 6 months instead it took 3 years. High turn over of office staff and lost and mishandled paper work. Very poor service. Client beware.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.

Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:

    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.

  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
