A despicable excuse for an attorney. Very non-professional. Has been disbarred for stealing over 100K of his clients' money. Still steals his clients money with all the unnecessary documents he tricks his clients into filing to prolong the case by several months, even years. Lies and files false documentation. Should be disbarred again!!!

I first met Nathan at my first appearance where he gave me his card and told me what to say to the judge to get enough time to find counsel. I reached out to him and he helped me work out a payment plan and let me know how he would proceed from there. The past 6ish months, he has taken amazing care of me. He was always available to meet to answer any questions or concerns I had. His knowledge of our justice system is impeccable and he was able to significantly reduce and even dismiss some of my charges. He’s even willing to go back to court with you the next year to fully close your case. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for an attorney. Thanks a billion, Nathan!

We contacted her to possibly represent a divorce case with domestic abuse and who had left with the children. Without even hearing all the details she told a domestic abuse victim that she would lose her home and her children if she didn't go home. She was so aggressive and basically sided with the abuser. It took two days of reassuring a severely traumatized mother that she wasn't going to lose her children and she did not have to go back to the abuser. If I could give her negative stars, I would.

She does not listen. She is not timely in responses. She falsely represented her degree of what she would do. She takes your money and does not deliver. When given feedback of expectation of what she said she would do for me she quit. I trusted her words and paid her money which she took gladly and then never delivered. And then had the nerve to charge me more money for her not following through and her quitting. She bad mouthed other attorney to get my business and then did the exact same thing she said the other attorney did wrong. Very untrustworthy. She is a terrible attorney. Stay away she is not worth the money.

Lorraine has been my attorney for many years and fought diligently, empathetically, and professionally for myself and my children. She was personally invested in the outcome that was best for my children and always insured every attention to detail was intact. I had an attorney prior to Lorraine and went to court several times to protect my children with that attorney to no avail. The first time and every time there after that I went to court with Lorraine we prevailed and my children were protected. Lorraine will always be in my heart as she saved my children's lives. How many people play that part in your life? She's my hero and an incredible source of comfort knowing if anything comes up again, she's on my side. Thank you Lorraine always and forever for everything you've done for me and my children!

All the guy does is charge for talking to him, but doesn't actually get anything done. Didn't know heads or tails of my lease. I had to explain the details to him that he then charged me for.

If you are involved in a DCFS case and this lady has been assigned as your public defender ... RUN! Ask for a new PD immediately. She told me and several other people I have talked with , not to take their cases to trial because " It will only make the judge mad." In my case this has resulted in a 2 year torture by DCFS and the family courts.

I retained Mr. Knowles and his law firm, Smith Knowles to assist me in some legal work. He promised to meet certain deadlines for documents that I needed. He failed to meet those deadlines (missed them by months) and failed to take or timely return my calls. On top of that, the bills he sent to me were incredibly high and seemed to include work that I had not even asked for. I tried to speak with the President of the firm (Mr. Knowles' partner) and had my voice messages with my concerns not returned. In my experience, Mr. Knowles greatly over promised and significantly under-delivered.

I waited a month before posting this review, in order to give Primus Law an opportunity to apologize for the way one of their employees treated me. I know that myself, having integrity, if I treated someone poorly, and if it turned out that I was in the wrong, I would be mortified, and I would reach out to express my regrets. I therefor wanted to extend this opportunity to them to demonstrate a similar level of integrity. Unfortunately integrity doesn't seem to matter to this firm, so, after what I feel is an fair amount of time to wait for any type of apology, I am posting my experience publicly. I fully realize that any perspective customers of Primus Law are going to take a review with a grain of salt, given the business they are in. There are going to be a lot of disgruntled defendants and it is only natural that they will have a low rating because of this. But if you are considering hiring them, take into account the way they treated me, and ask yourself if you want your customers being treated in a similar manner, and how this will affect your relationship with those clients. You want a bill collector who can get money you are owed, but who will also act with integrity, and thus hold on to the relationships that have taken you so long to build, as you have built your business. Due to a clerical error on the part of a company I do business with, my account was submitted for collections. When I called the company, they apologized and contacted the collection agency informing them it was a mistake. The collection agency did not act, and instead sent my account to Primus Law. From the first phone call, Primus Law was aggressive, and frankly immature. They spoke like teenage boys trying to win an argument. I truly felt second hand embarrassment for how unprofessional they were. It was like talking to Micheal Scott on the phone. I attempted to explain to them that the account was not in default, but they yelled over the top of me and mocked me. I called the original company who my account is with, and they apologized over and over for how unprofessional Primus Law was treating me. They reached out to Primus Law and told them not to file with the courts, but Primus Law filed anyway, telling me that it didn't matter if their client didn't want them to pursue action that they could do so if they wanted to. This resulted in me having to file a response with the court, wasting all our time. In the end, Primus Law was humiliated when they had to withdraw their petition against me. Had the company I do business with not apologized and had they not been so good to go against their own legal counsel on my behalf, I would no longer be doing business with them, due to how this law firm behaves. Do you really want to do business with a law firm who behaves so unprofessionally? You don't hear how they speak to your customers. Know that they do not treat us well. They are like a bunch of boys in a locker room, shouting and mocking the customers who do business with you. There are much better and more professional agencies who get your money, but who also maintain the relationship with your customers. While it is true that Primus Law was humiliated in my case, and I didn't have to pay anything, and while it is true that I am still doing business with the original business, how many bridges has this firm burned on behalf of the clients they represent? Remember, they knew they were in the wrong in my case, and I gave them a month to fix their error, but they did not show the kind of integrity that should be so important to all of us working in any economy together.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.

    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.

Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
