Mr Rhodes is the most professional and compassionate attorney I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. My malpractice case had been with another attorney out of Louisville for 5 years, I contacted Mr Rhodes and within less than 8 months I had a settlement offer and I could let go of that part of my horrific experience I endured from this Doctor . I wished I could give him 1000 stars because he saved my case and my sanity . The attorneys in Louisville had about botched my case bc of some things . If you want someone to fight for you and never let up plz contact Rhodes and Rhodes . I will forever be thankful and grateful for Chris Rhodes and his staff . He would even call to just check on me . Even a yr out of my settlement. Amazing attorney.

gave him 1500$ to file an expungement for a past conviction.. assumed everything was taken care of until I consulted another lawyer for something completely unrelated & had them run a background check on me out of curiosity.. to my surprise was still there.. attempted calling his office & he's all but disappeared from the face of the earth, so just gonna have to chalk it up as an L, I guess.. might try to file a complaint with the BAR association

David was a good affordable lawyer. I was in the middle of making payments on my divorce when he passed. So I called up there to see where we went from there and his secretary told me basically that I was SOL. Yes. They charged me several hundred dollars to type up papers and refused to give me a refund when he passed, and had no other lawyer to pass on my case to. So, nothing bad to say about Mr. Taylor, God rest his soul, but his staff are unethical and I was wronged.

Nicholas Pike Goetz aka “Yours Truly” has been making up his own alternative facts for so long he can no longer distinguish between his own lies and the truth. Nicholas “yours truly” Goetz violated PPP Kentucky Rules of Civil Procedure (CR) Rule 5.02 - CR 5.02 Service when he failed to send the renotice regarding. Even though he had always used email and the USPS, I received no documentation at all. When I emailed him to inquire why I was not informed, he responded “We had that hearing on May 15. I sent the renotice to your residence via US post and my original motion went to your prior counsel.” He was well aware that I had been pro se for months prior and my prior counsel confirmed that he had not received any new documents either. On June 12, 2024, I sent Nicholas Pike Goetz a Request for Documents Under the Discovery Rules, including open questions regarding inconsistencies in Defendant James Ludwiczak’s answers and deposition statement and supplemental requests for documents and records based on my fathers deposition statements on March 6, 2024. Also, the Defense has not completed Discovery Responses to Plaintiff’s First Set of Discovery Interrogatories, has not completed Discovery Responses to Plaintiff’s Request for Production of Documents, has not completed Discovery Responses to Plaintiff’s Request for Production of Documents, and has not completed Discovery Responses to Plaintiff’s Request for Production of Documents Request. he violated (CR) Rule 5.02 - CR 5.02 Service by not sending the documents for the May 15, 2024 hearing for RESPONSE AND MOTION PURSUANT TO KRE 103. What kind of professional leaves their client hanging right before a hearing by up and leaving a case with no heads up. I was never told prior to Mark quitting he was. Just one day randomly via email not even a phone call “sorry find new representation.” It’s a shame really. But to be left out in the cold right as a pandemic is winding down seems fitting. 5/5 I wouldn’t recommend.

Frank Anthony Brancato did not disclosure information regarding the wording of a deed in which I was a beneficiary. As a result, her last wishes were nullified. But for the fact he chose to conceal the wording he, himself wrote in the original deed, she would have had the opportunity to take steps and clarity pertaining agreement to prevent her last wishes from being nullified. He concealed facts that should have been revealed to a client that trusted him, thereby opening up a potentially costly and long legal battle.

The reason for 2 stars is for 3 different occasions, first one was settled by a judge, which made it very easy. 2nd time was kinda my error, so I won't count it against nor for the legal aid. 3rd one is recently, I called a month and a half before the court case. Waited by the phone 3 days, got a call a week later, they left a brief message tried returning the call, left 5 separate messages on the person's answering machine. 4 weeks went by with no call backs. Called the intake several times waiting several hours each time and get told that the person isn't in today (everytime I call). Asked if I could get another lawyer to present me(since it's less than 3 days from the case). I was told that the person will maybe in tomorrow, if not then, maybe get another person to take the case. Why is there a legal aid office if they aren't calling their clients back. The first case was 12 years ago.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
