Called Yow on June 2nd at 12:11 pm. I told him I needed appeal. He said he needed my paperwork. I drove to Oxford. Called him at 1:o5pm. Met him at 1:15 pm at courthouse in square. He took photos of my paperwork. I left feeling comfortable that a lawyer was handling my case. Called Yow again on June 15 th at 9: 27 am. NO ANSWER. Again at 9:56 am. NO ANSWER. Called him again June 16th at 3:44 pm. NO ANSWER . Called again June 20th at 8:48 am NO ANSWER. Called again at9:12 am. NO ANSWER. I left messages at every call. I texted. NO REPLY. ON JUNE 20TH I CALLED SOC. SECURITY OFFICE. I was informed that they had gotten no paperwork from Charles Yow. Texted him on 20th and told him that I now understood why he wasn't calling me back. DONT USE HIM . PERIOD.

If there were a 6 star rating, then I'd give it. These good people do not play around when you have them on your side. They mean business! Very nice, showed "genuine" concern for my matter, and they don't waste your time or money. They get to it with comprehensive breakdowns and communication throughout the process. I feel very confident going forward with my matters having Swayze and his associates representing me. If you're reading this, I recommend you call/see them and give them a shot. You will not regret it!

Christi was actually the guardian ad litem in the case involving my children. She is an incredible listener. She took time to listen to our case didn't rush us through it. I ABSOLUTELY loved her way of being very professional and taking as much time as it took to listen to my children and my mom and also my husband and I and my children's foster parents. Lots of sides to listen to. She did amazing job.

I hired David Flautt to file 10 Stop Work Orders against a contractor. I went with him to the courthouse in Oxford to file the Stop Work Orders, and we put them in the basket on the Chancery Clerk's counter for processing. After we got back to my vehicle, he said he needed to go back inside to check on something. Some months later, I was wondering why I hadn't heard anything in regard to the work orders and learned that some of the properties had been sold. I went to the courthouse and learned that no orders had been filed. Fill in the blanks. It cost our company over $31,000, which broke us. I would NEVER recommend David Flautt to anyone.

I have only dealt with Meredith Friday. So that's who I will be reviewing today. I've received 1 letter from her in last year. Upon receiving the letter I call her and requested documents from her. After waiting on documents that I nevertheless, I never receive. I called records myself for the information , I was not given same information on the letter that she sent me. I called Meredith Friday and related that information to her. Of course I still do not have the formal documentation. I never received anything. She claimed that she would email it to me. Never happen. Fast forward, I received an letter on July 1st dated from her June 20th. I hope you all see the play in the date and I have the postal stamping on the letter sent to me by her. Shamful. One letter last year, another one this year . Her stating many attempts to collect a debt. I need copies of those many attempts. I called today and left a message for her to call me. She did called me back apparently blindingly because she didn't know whom she was speaking to,so I told her who I was and reminded her of our last conversation LAST YEAR!!! STILL NO DOCUMENTATION!!! Now she need me to email her my reasons. I told her I will send on a certify letter stating my dispute, her response I am telling you to email me and I can get everything done today. My response, as I said, I will send you a certify letter. This so called professional lawyer tell me do what you want SISTER. Now I am 66 year black women and she is white woman, I felt she wanted to use the N_____R, so sister may have been a deflection. I sense her anger because I didn't comply with her demanding request. The difference in us, is I know Higher Power, when others get in their minds that they hold the power. Just remember Ps. 37:7 "Fret not yourself with evil doers" Those of us that had been ill-treated, patiently wait on The Almighty Power. She's super unprofessional. 2024 lawyers and judges are getting disbarred and dismissed every day for bad behaviors. The hens are coming home to roost!!!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
