I have had the misfortune of needing the services Mr. Lord provides. He and his staff made the situation so much less stressful just through the knowledge that was shared about my situation. Knowledge is truly power when coming from the right person who helps and does not undermine you when you are at your weakest and most vulnerable seeking resolutions to problems. Thank THE LORD for Mr.Lord DKhai

Mr. Kornfeld was recommended for assistance I needed with a property that I was interested in purchasing. According to the City of Philadelphia, the property contained lead, asbestos and 20 five gallon containers with hazardous waste. He negotiated with the City, hired abaters and removers and was able to also get a zoning variance for a roof-deck. He always kept me abreast of what was going on, with e-mails and via telephone calls, and he was cognizant of my limited budget. I would highly recommend him.

After months of going back and forth with a life insurance company regarding a policy that I was supposed to get when my ex husband died I called the Boonswang law firm and Hunter was assigned my case. He was able to get it settled and get the money I was owed. I cannot say enough good things about Hunter. Mine was an unusual case but Hunter kept me informed throughout the whole process with emails and phone calls. If you need a lawyer to get the insurance policy money you are owed I would definitely recommend the Boonswang Law firm and Hunter.

Maria represented our firm during extended union labor negotiations which involved complex matters of labor law. She represented us before the NLRB, in NJ Superior Court, and before the NJ Unemployment Commission. She interacted not only directly with our management but also directly with our employees. She provided expert advise, was extremely accessible, and worked tirelessly to achieve a positive result .

Mr.Walker was referred to me by a friend regarding a complex business matter. But it did not seem so complex after he explained things to me in language that I understood. As for results, I can only say that he under promised and over delivered.

This attorney was excellent in his representation of my case. He was very professional and cordial in communicating with me about my legal problem. I liked that he was not judgmental of my mistakes. He was honest in his assessment. His legal advice was based on my best interest and not on how much legal fee he could make.

Michael was asked to represent me Pro Bono. He always responded to my calls and emails as soon as possible. He kept me informed about what I was supposed to do and answered all my questions in plain English. Not once did he make me feel like I was bothering him or like a charity case. I could not have gotten a better lawyer even if I had picked him myself. I would absolutely recommend Michael Gumble to anyone who needs a good bankruptcy attorney. Thank you, Michael.

I was refered to Mr Seitzinger through a prominent Philadelphia Firm due to the compexities of my case. From the moment we entered their very nice office loby to the time Mr Seitzinger received us was less than 10 minutes (fantastic). Mr. Seitzinger took every detail and has been outstanding with correspondence and taking my calls when in or returning them the same day. Probably the best prepared and detail oriented Lawyer I have ever dealt with in my life. Very sharp and caring. I am a 50 year old business professional and deal with Attorneys frequently. Never had an attorney other than Sheldon who considered EVERY option, way beyond just litigation. The goal was how to efficiently resolve a dispute through negotiation that evidenced a collegial approach to conveying why the opponents and their counsel should be VERY WORRIED. This is a smooth, not slick, advocate who, in deps or trial, lays a virtually hypnotic path toward the unexpected implosion of a witness. I have watched him establish a series of seemingly harmless admissions by a SMART person whose testimony just methodically lead to the precise opposite proclamation than the respondent meant to convey. Simply put, the witness "accidentally" told the truth before he realized what had happened. Sheldon cares, and he produces favorable results. Nuff said?

I met Samantha Lyons through Atty Kahiga Tiagha to advise me on a business matter. She was friendly, focused and thorough in her gathering details and data and her turnaround time exceeded my expectations. I appreciated her recommendations and to this day I know that when Samantha says that she will research a matter and get back to me, I can count on it. She is a tremendous asset to the Law Firm of Gonzalez & Tiagha.

it is my pleasure to recommend Counselor Schinella as an immigration attorney. I am the psychologist who has been working with him to complete evaluations on his clients who are unable to take the citizenship test. I have been uniformly impressed by his integrity, courtesy and devotion to his clients, which leads to many successful outcomes. I would (and have) recommend him to anyone.

Brian has the answer when we call. Unlike other attornys that "will get back to you" Brian can take the issue and openly discuss a course of action. As an employer who is watching their dollars, I appreciate his responsiveness. He has always been a winner for us and will be straight up honest when we may have dug a small to medium size hole for ourselves and then helps us minimize risk. Brian calls me back and I like that.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
