Me and my husband decided to hire another office to do the Expedite Package for us, so we were able to send it right after we spoke with this office. Within exactly 7 days, we received an approval. Not thanks to this office. As per all the information they gave, we should be still waiting once we are on "time" for immigration time processing. And i believe it is really just being lazy! We contacted many other offices, and all of them provided us with completely different information for everything that May Law Office. At first, we decided to hire them because Leslie, who we were informed doesn't work at May Law Group anymore, was very attentive, answering our questions and making us feel very secure about the process. Perhaps after that, our experience was 0 supportive. Any time we called, and most likely were NOT able to talk to someone over the phone to know how the process was going, were told we had to send emails. We wanted to know if we could do anything else to make it faster, even though we knew May Law had just hired for the first step of the process. Money wasn't the problem, we could pay for something else if needed, but again, all the information given to us was nothing according to what we were looking for online and from other offices. Were always said nothing we could do, the expedited package was most likely to be rejected, best, was to wait. Not to mention that the attention to detail while originally filling out the forms was not there. We still saw some details that needed to be corrected. I just would like to state how unsatisfied with this office we are. DO NOT HIRE THEM! Have many many options out there that are much better!w Group LLC

Mr Narcisi is very professional, yet very down to earth and easy to talk to about difficult issues. He explains things and encourages questions before drawing up documents. Once he does the work of drawing up said documents he emails for your review and approval and once again encourages questions. I trusted him.

Pat Narcisi was recommended to my wife by another attorney to handle a personal injury case. He was given the case in summer 2020 and at that time I signed authorization for him to obtain all of my medical records. As of July 2021 he had never reviewed my case or requested my medical records. Mr. Narcisi did not return any of my calls. He has since been fired and a new attorney has been hired. Statute of limitations is up on September 19, 2021 and our new attorney is finishing negotiations with the insurance company.

This guy could of had my case thrown out early because the police would only showed up 1 on the first hearing and again on the 2nd only 1 cop showed up and on the 3rd one the blood work wasn't ready so it should have been thrown out. He had no clue what xanax was and the difference between that and a Klonopin. I gave him 4 grand and I said I'm not asking for all of it back I'm asking for 1,000 his response was you only gave me a couple hundred until he looked back and he said I got 100 "which I gave that as a retainer. Then his like there's 1500 and then he mumbled what sounded like 4 thousand and then he's like no I'm not giving you any money back I work hard on that case. It was during covid it kept getting postponed. Please do yourself a favor and get someone different or a public defender. They work way better and the law is fresh in their mine. DONT USE THIS GUY AND JOEL STOP DELETING ALL YOU BAD REVIEWS

Joel represented me in a defiant tresspass, disorderly conduct and public drunkeness case. He was able to get my charges reduced in which i walked away without the stigma of a misdemeanor on my record and I only had a 100 dollar fine. He made a very embarrassing situation less stressful and very professional. I would recommend him to any one. He even waited in line with me. He even changed his schedule for me to show up to court! Thanks Joel you're the best! TC

Mallory filed a fraudulent deed. She's lazy. Copy and paste fraud AND she filed it! The fraudulent deed was recorded by the county for everyone to see. If I had died before I paid to have Mallory's mistakes fixed, my family would have been screwed out of our land. What a headache. Save yourself from her mess, and don't hire her.

Rhett was used for a social security disabity case. He said that I had a good case with medical files to support my case. When it came to the actual hearing, he literally said one word at the very end of the hearing and did absolutely nothing to actually ā€œrepresentā€ me. After receiving a denial, it took him 4 weeks to talk to me about the judges decision. I had called him, his office, and his assistant during those 4 weeks. The two time I did speak to him I was told he needed more time to review my case. He would tell me to call him in two days if he did not call me back. I would call him after those two days and it would take him 2 weeks to acknowledge that I called him like he told me to. I had questions about my contract with him and fees and asked him to resend me a copy of my contract and he said he would. Three weeks later, he still has not. A horrible over all experience. I feel I would have had a better outcome with a better lawyer. Please consider another lawyer for a social security disability case.

I contacted Halstead the day that I was being threatened to be arrested for something that wasnā€™t a arrestable offense. She contacted the detective and then let me know that I wouldnā€™t be arrested and that I could go back home. Halstead kept in touch with me in the weeks following before the court hearing. She came to the hearing and was very supportive, and listened to everything I had to say. She gave great advise and when everything was said and done, I ended up with a small fine instead of 2 misdemeanors. She did a great job for me and I would recommend her to anyone that needs her services.

I recently had a disappointing experience with Lynch Carpenter LLP. I retained their services to review a potential claim against Harbor Freight regarding the information tracking practices on their website. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. From the outset, communication was sparse and uninformative. Despite the initial promise of investigating potential violations of privacy laws that could result in significant statutory penalties, I found myself repeatedly in the dark about the progress of my case. The firm did not provide timely updates or clear explanations of the steps being taken in the investigation. This lack of transparency left me feeling uncertain and frustrated. Whenever I attempted to reach out for more information, the responses were either delayed or non-existent. Additionally, the promises made during the initial consultation seemed to evaporate as time went on. There was little to no evidence of substantial progress, and I felt like my case was not being given the attention it deserved. Given the potential for significant statutory penalties of up to $5,000, I expected a more diligent and proactive approach. Overall, my experience with Lynch Carpenter LLP was deeply disappointing. I would not recommend their services based on the lack of communication, transparency, and apparent commitment to my case. Don't pay them a Penny if you value a Dollar.

I've had the experience of using multiple immigration lawyers in the last few months. Joel was BY FAR the most efficient, honest, and effective I've encountered. I recommend him to anyone looking to be properly taken care of in the quickest and most cost efficient manner. I'd give 10 stars but Joel will have to settle for 5 šŸ˜

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
