I need Ms. Forte for a restraining order and she went above and beyond to try to help me out. She set up a meeting with the other party to try to take away some of the stress. She also helped me with a ticket for my son and helped my brother with a custody matter. She went above and beyond to help my brother keep custody of his daughter after her mother abandoned her. She knew he couldn't afford much, so she went the short cut way through all the red tape. I can't say enough wonderful things about Ms. Forte. If you need an attorney with her skill set, she is the one you need.... TRUST ME

I wish I'd known everything I do now when I hired this firm. They are likely very good at estate planning. That's quite different from Trust litigation. This review is not personal but based solely on performance. Personally, they can be nice, that is until I stuck to my guns that their performance was lacking. Then Mr. Brady was quite rude. Unfortunately, Mr. Brady sold the firm to me as having strong Trustee removal litigation experience. I definitely do not believe that to be true now. Mr. Brady met with me, made strong promises of winning my case and then handed my case off to a much less experienced attorney, Mr. Dean, who wasn't even in our meeting. However, I was charged experienced-attorney rates for his sub-par performance. Communication, case management, strategy and knowledge of Trust law were all ongoing issues. I expressed concern at various junctures. When I requested a different attorney and demanded a meeting with Mr. Brady, he met with me but ignored my request and brought Mr. Dean to the meeting, assuring me he could handle the case, then charged me for their time to meet. I should have fired them then, but I very much wanted to believe they would step up and come through for me. Mr. Brady is a smooth talker and a good salesman. The case and the fees drug on well over a year! I had to push hard for a court date. Mr. Dean likes to settle because he is obviously scared of court. As the court date drew near it grew more apparent that Mr. Dean was not experienced. He did not demonstrate a knowledge of Trust law, or my specific Trust document, which was a huge detriment to my case. I ended up doing consults with other well-known attorneys in Trust litigation (on the TOP attorneys list) and they "weren't aware" that the firm had the needed expertise IE they don't come up against them in court. One who knew Mr. Dean described him as inexperienced. But they did not have the time to take my case, especially with court impending. We did end up going to court and it was painful. Mr. Dean's representation was sorely lacking. He is not a strong litigator nor orator. He was also late and unorganized. He never objected to anything while the well-known OC ran circles around him and slandered me profusely. At one point Mr. Dean apologized to the court for the long period of silence because he couldn't figure out what he wanted to say, just shuffled his stack of papers. My overall assessment is that this firm's practices are unethical because they represented that they have strong experience in the area I needed, but used me to cut a young attorney's teeth in a growing and very lucrative area of law. Under no circumstances would I hire them again. In my research into them after being unhappy, I came across others who agreed with this assessment. They never even informed me that we could have appealed the court decision. Since then, I've had to re-start litigation over. DO NOT HIRE BRADY COBIN. Especially not Mr. Brady, who is not honest, or Mr. Dean who is not competent.

Shannon based my entire case on getting a certain judge (Judge Eagles). When we showed up to court and found out Judge Eagles was out sick, her face turned white. You could tell she was nervous because she did not prepare for the case. She filed on the wrong grounds - so after we lost, I had to go to another attorney and pay another retainer fee to go through the whole process again. She clearly didn't listen to a word I said, OR read my emails. When she read the grounds, my heart sunk. It was NOTHING we had talked about. A complete waste of my money - not to mention the emotional turmoil the case caused me.

Single father paid 9k cash for joint custody of my children. It took well over 6 months to file ANY PAPERWORK. Rik whom I paid has Never worked on my case. He has his interns doing everything. He has zero knowledge of my case when I call. Yet no wants another 6k. Yes 6k to finish. That's 15 THOUSAND dollars and I have yet been to court. AMAZING. I feel as a Black Male in not respected and being taken advantage of. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy and advise ANY AFRICAN AMERICAN to say clear of this guys. I pulled this money out of my 401k was told it would cost maybe 7k... and again took them 6 months to file any paperwork. Pray for my children

Hard to believe Rik does not have prior reviews. Rik, hands down, was the best lawyer I had during my 2 year hellish divorce. He far surpassed my three prior lawyers in just sear will and effort. By the time I met Rik I was so jaded and fatigued by the process: no results yet high fees. Rik was different. Receiving emails and texts at night or during the weekend was the norm. I appreciated his hard work and burning the midnight oil for my cause. In contrast one of my prior lawyers would never return emails and I could only contact her by scheduling a phone appointment with her during her regular business hours. What a difference. Rik may not have the fancy downtown Raleigh office address or marble floors but he has what's most important: Compassion, empathy and personal drive. I highly recommend you at least consult with him prior to hiring any other lawyer.

Mr. Whitley was extremely condescending. Wouldn't even let me in the office. Took one look at me and decided I wasn't a rich client that was worth his time. I explained my situation where I was being lied to, pressured, and intimidated by a car insurance company that was legally liable for damages to my vehicle and were refusing to fix or total my car. He agreed I was in the right and they were behaving illegally but he told me to just threaten them with a lawyer, which I have been doing for two weeks. I said thats why I'm here. He said just keep threatening them and they will cave. Well they called my bluff and he refused to represent me. I needed a lawyer, not an empty threat of one. He wouldn't even call them and pressure them. He had me do it and didn't even say anything. I was already doing that for two weeks. He acted like he didn't believe me. Talked down to me and patronized me. His firm claims to handle cases like mine. Now I'm still out of a vehicle and on the verge of losing my job and apartment and at risk of becoming homeless. There's something wrong with our justice system when insurance companies can just do whatever they want to lower income people and lawyers like this treat them like nothing and refuse to represent them. We have no one on our side to represent us and get justice. I would never recommend this jerk to anyone. Waste of time and humiliating.

In the beginning I didn’t think I needed an attorney, I didn’t want to upset anyone on the outside. I thought the insurance company would take care of me and just let them handle it, but as things progressed, they weren’t following through on some things they should have. I looked for an attorney and found a good one in Bob Whitley. I wanted someone I had a good rapport with. I looked in the yellow pages and called several attorneys, and when I spoke with Bob, he offered to come to my home to meet with me, no others did that. When we met, we had a good rapport and I decided to go with the Whitley Law Firm. Their team is extremely knowledgeable in all the situations of my case, with the Workers’ Compensation, Social Security Disability and 3rd party claims. The firm walked me through it and told me what to expect and how they were going to handle it. They always returned my calls, usually within an hour. They were very accessible, which was so important to me. Once I hired Bob as my attorney, I knew I was going to be in good hands and he was going to take care of everything I would need for the rest of my life.

There is negative review on this site saying Andrea is money driven... that was the opposite of my experience. This is a real and honest review... you can google my case (Sfreddo vs Hicks) Andrea took my case all the way to the court of appeals, and won. Let me also add that I paid a retainer but was pretty far in arrears. The defendant in my case was very difficult and he// bent on not following his contractual agreement. About 7 months before Andrea got a reasonable settlement offer, I told her I wanted to withdraw my complaint. I still owed her money and frankly, I was ready to quit. Andrea reassured me that I should not worry about the debt owed and instead allow her to finish out the case. She (basically) said I had come too far to back out. Another attorney could have easily said ok let’s work out a payment plan and call it a day. Not her. She got a settlement, a decent one that also covered her attorney fees (which she reduced) and just months prior to that I was ready to walk away. Someone said she didn’t have a binder... idk their situation but she does everything digitally. She had 1,227 pages of evidence for my trial, all highly organized in a digital format. In my experience Mrs. Porter is fierce, kind and an excellent attorney willing to go much further that the extra mile for her clients. Google my case for reference, she overturned an unfair decision by a judge... that’s not easy to do. This is an A++ attorney, you won’t be disappointed.

Andrea is extremely money driven with no integrity. My husband was threatening to leave the state with my child and she dumped me the morning of the conflict with a letter claiming that I had consulted another attorney when my attorney friend asked me why Andrea was not doing X, Y and Z. Totally ineffective and when we went to court for a stalking issue, the morning of the trial she did not have one binder ready and was rushing to get it done and it showed in the courtroom. She was eaten up and spit out by my ex's attorney. She is a junior attorney that should not be the primary on any case.

I am happy to attest that after 3 long years in a very high conflict divorce, Heidi Bloom came through for me financially in an manner that greatly exceeded my expectations. I live in Pinehurst NC and had to turn to Raleigh to find an attorney who was willing to tackle a case involving a high profile physician in our community. There were no issues of child custody, but a great deal of financial issues to unravel. The length of time it took to resolve my issue was more of a reflection of my spouse's legal stalling than Heidi's efforts. I truly appreciated her advice, total (brutal) honesty , and expertise. I can understand why some clients might think that attorneys are too harsh and uncaring. Everyone arrives with differing sets of circumstances. Attorneys are not your therapists, and you are paying them to navigate you to the best outcome given your situation. . Heidi was amazing in her timing of filing items which greatly benefitted my case. She is extremely busy, but her paralegals always helped when I needed to pass information along. I felt that she did as much as she could to ensure that I wasn't paying too much for outside experts to analyze business entities. Heidi's presence in the courtroom is impressive. She's professional, yet unrelenting in Mediation . It's evident that she is respected by her peers. As a professional woman myself, I respected her efforts to get me to focus (divorces bring out the crazy in all of us). Besides being a great attorney, she is a very nice person who takes your case very seriously. My Alimony and Equitable Distribution documents were signed in court yesterday. I am still thrilled at what Heidi accomplished for me. I have and will continue to highly recommend her to anyone in a divorce situation.

I have probably one of the most complicated divorces and custody situations imaginable which has dragged on for a long time due to my own mistakes. Heidi is extremely professional, an incredible memory and a fantastic understanding of the law. She is a very caring person and she can tell you her opinion but has always been very diligent to work for what I wanted not her. She has a very kind heart but she is completely unabashed in telling you the cold hard truth whether you are ready to hear it or not. I have been angry with her and argued with her before thanking her for helping me see what I wasn't. I have been exposed to many opposing lawyers in my case and Heidi is the only one who really displays integrity and honesty. She plays hard but fairly. She isn't out for dramatics and she believes in settling things out of court if possible but not afraid to fight. In the courtroom is where she is extremely effective, articulate and passionate. I believe that her complete honest conviction and how she expressed it made the difference in my custody case. She is very organized in her thoughts and makes very rational arguments. She cares a lot about what she does and her reputation for honesty and being a straight shooter matters a lot - judges know which lawyers are serious and which are histrionic clowns. She has always been sure I was honest in what I say and works hard to develop the best strategies possible. It is a big firm. Heidi isn't always the best at returning calls sometimes. Sometimes you have to call twice or maybe three times. But at the times when time mattered, it was always the first time or she had already called me. With every experience I had- and seeing how bad the legal system is, how slimy the other attorneys are- I am very proud to have worked with someone of Heidi's character and someone I respect a great deal as a person and a lawyer.

I hired David Schiller to handle a case for me. He quickly went from easy to contact to not returning calls or emails during the time he was my lawyer. When it came time for him to do work, talking with state investigators investigating the company I was suing, he failed. He communicated to the investigators his perception of my schedule rather than the truth. He told me things about the investigator that I believed to be true (avoiding giving me the investigators info) until I did some digging and found out who the investigator was. Turns out, what David Schiller told me wasn't true. The investigator told me something entirely different. It appears to me that he was manipulating the situation to his benefit rather than helping me, his client. When I called him out for his unethical behavior, he dropped my case. If he had integrity, he would've owned up to his mistakes and worked as a team with me to right his wrong. I looked at reviews and it seems we all have the same story about this guy and a pattern has been formed about his work ethic. I have contacted the state bar and would encourage anyone that has had a similar experience to do the same.

I hired Ms. Meyers to handle my divorce because she was referred by one of her sorors. To make a long story short, her “flat fee” was $4,000. She did absolutely nothing while she was my lawyer. She did not file one document or even share one single draft with me. We communicated through a messaging portal and had one phone conversation. Some questions went responded to for extended periods of time. When I started asking too many questions, she dismissed me from her firm. Within the 1st week of hiring my new lawyer, I had several court documents filed and the new firm actually show (email) me a draft of everything they do. I made more progress with my new team in 1 week then I had made with Ms. Meyers over 8 months. I am not sure if she just didn’t have the experience and didn’t know what to or if she was just being lazy but it was an expensive lesson to learn. If you need someone to actually help you especially with family matters, please find someone else. It might suck to spend the additional funds but it will be worth it in the end. Like the old saying goes, “you get what you pay for”.

Documents were turned into the court in a timely fashion & she was very easy to get in touch with. I would highly recommend her.

Very poor litigator, as another reviewer pointed out. Poor communication throughout two hearings and in need of a better paralegal. The only time it was easy to speak with her was when it was time to make a payment. We wasted close to 3 grand on her, and after losing our second temporary custody order case, we wisely switched lawyers. The other party represented themselves and out-mitigated this lawyer in court on BOTH occasions. Meanwhile, Atty. Meyers read basic questions from a print-out. I don't know if she was afraid of the presiding judge or lacked the skills she needed to successfully argue the case on both occasions. However, she is way too overpriced and seemed to lack the knowledge it took to win. After we switched lawyers, we ended up winning EVERYTHING and everything went in our favor, every single time. Costly mistake in choosing Atty Meyers first though. Lesson learned. I would NEVER refer her to anyone.

My lawyer was very bad in representing me. He did not care about what I had to say. My lawyer ignored any thing I tried to tell him. My lawyer did not object to any thing even though the other party was wrong. My lawyer NEVER returned any of my phone calls. My lawyer seem as he was not even interest in my case win or lose. My lawyer seem to side with the other party. I felt very helplessness as if I was living a nightmare and did not have the money to hire a better lawyer as he has caused my situations a lot worse by not standing up for me.

Hired this lawyer on a friend's recommendation, she only knew her as a friend and hadn't actually used her services as an attorney. This woman has done nothing but take money, with little to no help at all. She schedules a consult once a week and has only actually consulted my mom the first time and has been a no call for the rest of the scheduled phone meetings. She was told she had a court case this morning, only to find out that nothing was even filed according to the court clerk. My mother is on a fixed income and doesn't have the time to waste going back and forth for a case she was told to attend that didn't even exist due to Holly's lack of filing. Negligence at it's finest. In fact she is a good lawyer (sarcasm), that she had gone through 3 paralegals in a period of 18 months. Shows how professional she is. This lady is a con. Run the other way.

This attorney cares absolutely nothing about you. She allowed my exstrange husband to move back onto the home after he abused me, my children and my cat. She wouldn't return phone calls, emails or text messages. She left me out there to drown. When and if I spoke to her she would be lying as she's talking. This attorney only helped herself to thousands of dollars from me only. With what she did I should have defended myself for zero dollars and would have probably receive better results. Only hire her if you want the other side to win.

When my husband and I decided to separate I had no idea the next steps for pursuing a divorce. Holly King acted as more than just a divorce attorney. She was kind, thoughtful and made me feel like I really had someone looking out for my best interest during the worst time of my life. I’ve heard stories of friends having to chase down their lawyers to get things accomplished but Holly handled everything in a timely manner. I don’t wish divorce in anyone but sometimes it is a necessity and Holly King is the professional I trust to handle it.

The communication via email was extremely slow and frustrating. The promised timeline and tasks have never been achieved on the attorney's side. Only ask for information rather than providing outcomes that worth the time spent. Do not recommend at all.
