Horrible law firm with awful customer service I have never in my life spoke to a company that was so rude ! It’s honestly really really bad ! I hope no one ever has to experience them you will be disappointed from first conversation believe me everyone that works for this firm is rude I thought it was just who I initially spoke to but every single person so far is horrible and not helpful at all ! I’m surprised nobody has reported them to the bar ! Believe me I will be once this is all over !

I was deeply disappointed with this divorce attorney's services. They were consistently unresponsive and failed to communicate important updates. Furthermore, the lack of empathy and strategic guidance made an already stressful situation even worse.

Very satisfied with Mr. Adam Slater as my attorney on a big case. Mr. Slater (AND his firm) was more communicative than any other attorney that I had ever encountered. Mr. Slater returned calls, was thorough and he cared (really) I read a negative review here, however, I must strongly disagree! This guy is definitely the best.

I called this lawyer because of a similar case they had handled before, and I had the same medical issue. First he was very rude and patronizing. And then gave his own diagnosis that I was almost blind before my corrective eye surgery so I should not be suing the Doctor and that LASIK was not perfect ( I was not complaining about my actual power of my glasses after surgery the problem is I am not able to use my eyes and focus on computer or read a book as it causes extreme pain and migraines and I can not lead a normal life). I called him after consulting two ophthalmologists and further I already had an appointment with a doctor who specializes with complications after LASIK (So the issue was complication after LASIK procedure not that my vision was not better after the surgery, I would not have had the severe debilitating complications if the doctor had done the traditional PRK surgery for me instead of LASIK but alas!! he seemed he knew everything and said I should be happy I got a good result. I am living with Photophobia (wearing sunglasses even indoors, and migraines almost everyday and he calls this good result!) He had no patience to listen to what I was saying and interjecting his own personal opinion. For instance I mentioned only one time the doctor's name in our conversation - for that he said I was obsessed with my doctor!! I only mentioned his name because the practice had several doctors and I mentioned who it was that did my surgery. He had problems from get go about every thing I said first he said I had a thick accent (I have been teaching for 20 years no student or colleague of mine has ever told me they can not understand me because of my accent). Then he said I was cutting him off ( in fact he was cutting me off and mansplaining!). He also took my DOB info which was weird since I had not even hired him. (now I am worried what he is doing with that info). I was so upset after talking to him that I called the receptionist and told her someone in his firm has to know how rude and condescending he was even though I realize nothing would be done about it. I totally understand if he had told me he will not take my case, but the way he was so rude and condescending is beyond me.

And she had the audacity to charge me on top of that for her service !!! Who sends a letter to the other party without advising their client. It is actually my ex husband who was furious who had to inform me that his lawyer had received something. Gina did not have ben call to apologize nothing despite the fact that I asked her to call me !!

From the start, tells you what you want to hear. Afterwards, does not care about your specific needs whatsoever. Responds and works mostly with short emails that keep you confused and hanging on. "Important family and financial matters should never mostly be discussed via email between attorney and client. It works well for the attorney but not for the client." Doesn't offer any solutions to your problems and you are left feeling like you are being preyed upon your weakness to bring in $$ for the firm. Total lack of communication between staff members, and is oblivious to the key points pertaining to your case because other staff members are working on your case and you have to pay everyone so they can play catch up with each other. Poor billing department that makes mistakes. In my case it was over $2,500 that I was billed for another clients work. Highly fidgety and emotionally unstable and not patient character which makes you afraid to ask questions and ask for help. STAY AWAY, ONLY OUT FOR THE MONEY AND HAS NO EMPATHY TOWARDS YOUR FAMILY MATTER.

I was a client of his. And he was my divorce attorney before he petitioned to depart my case and left me without an attorney. He was very responsive, and very good when speaking and relating to all the judges. He gets the job done. But I can never figure out if he understood my physical, mental, and financial situations while preparing for court documents. I must admire that he got the job done whenever we attended the mandatory court sessions, but the undertone of all his work has to do with how he and his firm gets paid. He tend to build a course of plan and chore based on billing and financial potential.

This retired Judge should not be taking jobs as a mediator. It has been my experience that he is bias and cannot be fair. This retired Judge is very pro father, and oversteps his boundaries. The sad truth is that he charges a fortune, but creates double work for other professionals that have to fix his case. Additionally- he often will not hesitate to pick up a phone and call the sitting judge- not a good place to be- Hire a regular lawyer as a mediator- you are better off

This lawyer never returns a call or an email and charges so much money. There appears to me no issues resolved, and the bill just keeps climbing. He also appears to be quite set in his ways and opinionated. I am sure he would be an aggressive lawyer - but as a mediator he is just not neutral and picks sides

This retired Judge appears to be prolonging litigation, and actually causes more confusion than he fixes. I do not think he understands that mediation is confidential- and often makes reports he should not make. I have nothing against the man- I just get tired of paying a bill monthly and getting nothing accomplished

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.

Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
