I hired Elaine for custody/parenting plan. She called my daughter the wrong name twice. She failed to communicate in a timely manner, with me and the opposing attorney. She seemed to be unconcerned or forgetful about my daughter's safety and mine as well. Overall experience was very unsatisfactory.

After an emotional decision I offered to my wife am uncontested divorce. After an Internet research for a local attorney to facilitate this I discover Ms. Smith-Koop. Unfortunately my wife took her own action and filed. I kept my appointment with Ms. Smith-Koop. I will attest that I was completely distraught. Not only did she walk me throught all my options she kind and presented me the facts. My position was to be fair and reasonable to my wife. Ms. Smith-Koop provided all the resources necessary to accomplish this goal. During the process I discovered her knowledge of not only all the laws but also of the system, attorneys, judges and courts. I would highly recommend her to represent anyone for a fair and satisfactory result.

Elaine represented me in a difficult paternity case. My case was challenging to say the least and I was fairly doubtful of my chances at winning. Most of the feedback/opinion I received from other attorneys in Elaine's area of expertise (paternity) wasn't too optimistic. Elaine was the only one who truly gave me hope and her feedback/opinion on my case was more knowledgeable of the law than some of the other attorney's feedback whose rates were much higher than Elaine's. Elaine is a skilled professional who is highly knowledgeable and very competent in the area of paternity and family law. Elaine and her legal staff helped me win a very difficult paternity case and both their experience and competence are admirable.  I am very happy with the outcome of my case and the services provided. Given my overall experience with Elaine, I would highly recommend Elaine and her staff to represent you if are looking for an attorney that truly knows and skillfully practices the law!!

I was very pleased with my experience with Trent. He had a great mix of professionalism and kindness. I think that my greatest appreciation was that he took the time to actually listen and then made sure that my wife and I both clearly understood options and everything that was happening. Times requiring a lawyer are times that are filled with uncertainty and for myself I was in completely unknown territory. I am so grateful for the clarity he brought to a confusing situation, his consistant updates by email, and I am also grateful for a positive outcome. I felt fairly charged for his services and was happy with my experience.

We contacted Mr. Whitford, about my husband being let go from his job, in a manor that violated his rights under the disability act. We explained to Mr. Whitford, that my husband was now unemployed. He agreed to take our case. And charged us a $1,500 retainer. We hired him in April of 2015. He literally wrote one letter on our behalf, and then we did not hear from him again. After 11 months, over 15 unreturned calls, supposed lost files, and every other excuse you can think of, he just called us today, and informed us, that he would only return $500 of our retainer. Do not hire this man. He is a complete fraud and a liar. We literally had to show up at his business, where they refused to come to the door, till we caught them in the window. They even went so far as to turn the lights out, to make it look like nobody was there. Disgraceful. We will be contacting the bar association.

I asked Shannon Douglas if she was familiar working with people that have disability and trouble with communication skill, she said she did. I had an apt with Shannon and when I arrived, she asked me to do an evaluation, at that time in the office, the eval took 3 hours. It was not scheduled or mentioned to me in advance. I was not ready or prepared for a long appointment and had not eaten. The eval did not go well and I had to leave in the middle of it and agreed to finish it at another time. I later asked when I can schedule it, and was told I did not have to. Shannon put in her notice in early November to leave the public defenders office. She took my file with her, did not leave forwarding contact information. I searched, she finally contacted the BAR on 1/3/201, I got her information from the the Bar, called her 1/6/2021 to ask her about her behavior and how it put me at risk, I asked her to resign and I would not report her. She lied, abandoned her client, gave all my belongings (keys, money, computer, hard drive, and evidence to the person I have an active court case against, therefore compromising the case. Shannon reported to the courts that I was not cooperating, and that got me arrested, and then put in the OSH for evaluation and while I was in there, I was attacked and beaten 2 times, my house was robbed, my spouse was attacked. I have never in my life encountered such a poor excuse and follow through with someone that is my representation. I then got an attorney that knows how to take care of me. My case is a no brainer. Shannon cost me not only time, reputation, loss of belonging, risk mine and my husbands safety. Do not work with this train wreck of irresponsible ethics.

He is the worst attorney I have ever used. He gives bad advice, does not know the law, and I should know-- I am a Bar Trained Paralegal. His lack of knowledge is dangerous and will cost you money, tons of time, your good credit, and possibly even your freedom. He can't quote the law which is absolutely basic. He dupes clients out of thousands. Keith is a slick-mouthed CON-ARTIST. He pretends to be your friend and is really a SCAM ARTIST! Be prepared to lose everything if you pay him. You will notice that all his recommendations from attorneys below all have the last name "BAXTER", that is because he is related to them. No other attorney would be caught dead signing on to this criminal fool. He has been ran out of multiple firms for his incompetence. If you are looking for a Criminal Lawyer, he is not your guy, but, if you are looking for a CRIMINAL Lawyer, then yes, Keith is your man! You won't get a call-back, won't see any success, won't get anything but an empty bank account and an ulcer. You are better off just giving the IRS your PIN #. At least they won't lie to you and pretend to be your friend.

Keith did file the correct papers for a Bankruptcy, when he was with Olsen and Olsen. But that is where he stopped helping us and started helping himself. In the 8 years he drug out the banko we were charged double his stated fee, for time he created. He "never" called us in 8 years. He made deals with the bank and trustdeed that we did not know about. I feel that because I had a terminal illness he took advantage of my wife and our situation. I had contacted Olsen and Olsen and after we had filed the banko with them Keith left thei firm and took our case with him, I wonder if he was forced out or not. I just wish every one could see what we went through and make there own mind up as to stay away from him or not. We spent $98 thousand more with Keith than the Judge said we to pay, and I still to this day do not know how Keith allowed that to happen. He never explaind to us why we owe more than the fed judge said. When asked he just said the trusteed and he would work it out, just send me another $17 thousand! The trusteed made a $10,000 mistake and Keith had us pay for it. I asked him to go after the trusteed for the money and he said he couldn't because it would jepordize his close working relation ship with her! There is to much that happened in the last 8 years to write about. The bottom line is if you use this guy, do not ask questions, never, never, never, get a call from him, and be prepared to spend a lot of extra money. He needs to lose his license to take advantage of people under the protection of the law, I wish the bar would really take an interest in this. He gives the honest attorneys a bad smell.

First, makes you call him for followups instead of the other way around, which I found a bit arrogant, but went along with it. The bigger issue is his knowledge of consumer law seems a bit lacking. This guy tried talking about statute of limitations on various types of fraudulent debt in the aspect that if 14 other pieces of debt with the exact same genesis date ran a reporting period, a 15th that fell into the same bucket would somehow not be actionable if it were being re-aged. And rather took offence to a potential client who wasn't completely ignorant to the law. This seems to be one of those cats you hire when you know absolutely nothing about what's going on and need an escort through the whole process - and then just hope for the best that he gets you where you need to be. My confidence levels on this would be low.

Called prior to my appointment about emailing him info before our phone appointment, and the receptionist stated my appointment was at 11 am. Wrong! Not a good way to treat a potential client. Given the quality of the receptionist if you DO make an appointment, repeat it back to their receptionist several times so you know you are on the same page. Or you will be stuck like I am starting all over again for an appointment weeks out.

Tim was hired short notice for an emergency situation in my family. He was the only attorney that was available short notice on a holiday. (Now I see why) During a phone call when I'm obviously stressed and panicking he shushes me. Which I thought was unprofessional but things had started moving, or so I thought. In a hearing he shows up to, he flat out stayed silent. No defense against easily proven lies from my ex. Even when I had mentioned that these statements were untrue. That same hearing he arrive very disheveled and his suit was covered in beard hair from possibly shaving in his car or who knows. I just know it was very unprofessional. After a heating he gave me bad advice concerning my rights and actions which lost me ground to MY abuser because he didn't pay attention to the entire hearing. He also failed to file important documents I spent days working on, reviewing, and re writing. He said he had a plan. Seemed very motivated and driven for helping me. But he didn't even take accurate notes that he himself asked for over the phone. I had to speak up and correct my own attorney over details he couldn't seem to even take accurate notes on. After that he tanked my hearing and did nothing. After that I fired him and somehow my retainer that was just replenished was evaporated to almost nothing even though I had just replenished funds and he had no work. You might as well defend yourself. Heck, even the guy who serves coffe at the drive through could probably do a better job than TIm A Clown in a cheap suit. This is my opinion from working with him directly. His only other rating is from another attorney. Imagine that.

Tim Brown has been the pillar in my understanding, interpretation, and overall ability to move forward with my child custody case. With every hiccup that has pushed us back in this process; his ability to think, act and react never siezes. He's truly and incredibly gifted at his occupation. The communication, professionalism, and dedication he displays is absolutely out of this world and has blown every expectation I had out of the water, as well as having torn through every bit fear I had coming into this process. Mr Brown's legal knowledge, interpersonal skills, respectful demeanor, and above the standard professionalism, has made this whole stressful and difficult process clear and more comfortable than I imagined possible. A child custody case of ANY length creates undue stress and feelings of concern on parents and children, inadvertently. Mr Brown's ability to perform his expected duties along with his ability to calm my fears and help me focus on the bigger picture has been pivotal. His knowledge, experience, and genuine care is exceptional. Professionalism, hard work, and dedication worth it's weight is difficult to find. Tim Brown embodies all of these traits and continues to go above and beyond the typical call of duty in my case. There is no shortage of human decency (in this seemingly indecent occupation) when working with the team at LaMont Law and I highly recommend Tim Brown.

I hired him for my divorce and after being charged over $25,000 and 1 1/2 years, we were still in the discovery phase. He and his staff are one of the most unprofessional people I have run across. I had provided many documents several times because they kept saying I hadn't provided them to his office. They are extremely disorganized and documents provided by his office in most cases had misspellings, words missing, didn't make sense, or was just wrong. He will disagree but I had documentation of everything I sent to him along with the letters with all the mistakes. I voiced my concerns several times but nothing changed. Mr. Dick is very condescending and doesn't fully explain what's happening or how to expedite the process along. He just tries to milk you for everything you have. I eventually fired him and would strongly recommend to stay clear of Gordon Dick for a divorce lawyer.

I did not see eye to eye with Attorney Dick. We started out on good terms but after he lost several documents I'd given to him and was told I'd have to find them, copy and provide them again plus the USD, I began to have doubts. Fortunately the documents were then located so that was resolved. There were several documents requested by opposing counsel that had been requested that I spent quite a bit of time trying unsuccessfully to find. When I voiced my frustration with that he told me that it was okay if I couldn't come up with them. That was news to me and added to my frustration--why had that not been told to me. I was later asked to provide more bank statements and credit card statements, many of which were for dates that I'd already provided. He will tell you that is not the case but I get to differ. Frankly, it was a bit confrontational for him to bring his paralegal into the conference room to insist that I had NOT provided the documents I said they already had. I found him to be knowledgeable but I don't think he was providing documents to opposing counsel that they'd requested. Again he will dispute this but I kept a record of what I'd provided already and they apparently didn't have them. I did fire him and he charged me a fee to withdraw as my counsel.

I have a case pending with this lawyer for more than a year. I don't have much experience dealing with lawyers so I don't have no one to compare her to. However, it has been a huge change from when my case started until now. It's been very hard to get a hold of her. Sometimes my questions are answered by the secretary, and her father and not Barbara. It's been more than 6 months since i've been able to talk with her regarding my case. It's very frustrating because I have so many questions and no one to answere them. It seems like they are so bussy with other clients that they no longer have time for my case. I know many people who are looking for immigration lawyers and are desperate to adjust their status, keep on looking elsewhere and don't get fooled by promises. When they want your services they will be so attentive and show care about your specific situation. Once they get you, your case won't be a priortiy to them. This is the experience I've had with Barbara Ghio. Good luck in your search for a competent lawyer.

I hired this Fraud W. Lincoln Watson last November. I paid his retainer. I hired him for the sole purpose of representing my interests and guiding me through the process of the Drafting of my Divorce trial order. He literally stopped all forms of communication and never called me back. Meanwhile oposing counsel drafted her own order adding tons of false things and leaving out key retirment accounts that I now do not get my portion. This guy caused me upwards of 100 thousand dollars of losses. His excuse was that someone decided to fool around with his phone lines. When I emphatically asked him why he never responded to me he had no answer. He simply hung up on me. It took my Brother who is a criminal defense attorney to get this Fraud to take a phone call from me. All he could do was admit he saw all my emails, but that someone messed with his phone lines. He stole my money and then because he didn't do his job, I got absolutely financially screwed. I have started an Ethics complaint with the OSB and I will be suing him personally for malpractice. Do NOT hire this Fraud of an attorney. He is absolutely terrible and dishonest. I'm sure there has to be more people out there who he has swindled. Please come forward!

I received a referral from the Oregon State Bar for an attorney to help me with a problem that I have with some landlords that concerns fraud. I tried to get a hold of this guy but his phone automatically hung up after two rings. I called the Bar back and told them as much and they called him, and he called me and left a message, then the Bar called me back and said that his phone did work. Finally my call went through. He seemed like he was interested in my case. He asked me to mail him my documents. I said I would and I needed a few days because I wanted to get it all together correctly. I mailed the documents and it was around $11 to mail them because they are wirebound books of ongoing fraud and persecution and harassment by some very unscrupulous landlords. When we had our initial meeting he seemed a little bit put off by the fact that I was so prepared. I don't believe at this point that he wanted anything to do with my case because of all my evidence. At the end of our half hour appointment he tried to back out and I said, come on you can help me. This is not a hard claim for an experienced attorney. He said, give me two days to wrap my head around this stuff and I said, that sounds cool. Then he said, he would call me in two days which would have made it Friday. I did not receive a call from him on Friday and I really don't like it when somebody tells me they're going to do something and then they don't, especially an attorney. So I figured that he must have really gotten into it and could see what was going on. My research notebooks are wirebound and they're in order, very easy to understand. All weekend long I figured I had an attorney that was on my side and we were going to finish this. I did not receive a call from him on Monday, so I called him and his phone hung up on me after two rings. Then, I received a phone call from him and he said, who is this? I said, it is James. He said, what do you want James? I said oh, how is it going? Then he goes, well, oh, umm, I only picked up the phone because, because, l umm, then, he said, what do you want? I said, l want to know if you are going to represent me. He raised his voice and said, NO I AM NOT ! Then I said, ok, l need all of my books back. He said, that he had just typed a letter for me and was getting ready to mail them back to me. I told him that I only use my PO box and we confirmed the address. I said goodbye. After two days I did not receive my documents. And I emailed him asking if he had a tracking number. Later on I received an email and a tracking number. He had just taken them to the post office. I tracked the item and I received my documents the next day. I open them up and I read his letter, there was two identical letters. Both were signed. Apparently he wanted me to sign one of them and return it to him as though I agreed with what he had to say. I didn't agree with anything that he had to say and I noticed that the date on the letter was the 16th, the same day he mailed it. Which means that he lied to me and had not finished writing a letter to mail with my documents. I immediately emailed him and told him I was not signing his letter and that he was shameful. This man wasted 3 weeks of my life, he was not direct. He lied to me more than once saying he was going to call me back in 2 days and that he had typed that letter on the day that we spoke on the phone. Additionally, he had the nerve to keep the $35 check. He most certainly did not earn it and I can tell he didn't even look at all of my documents. Why is he even taking cases on referral? Is it so that he can get an easy $35 ? Well I'm not sure. But I can say this. Do not waste your time! I don't think this guy cares and I know he's dishonest. I feel like he made a fool out of me . . .

No thanks! Your entire job is answering the phone. Hire someone to do this. What does my $300 dollars an hour go towards, if not a secretary who will answer the phone when I need it, at 10 AM on a Tuesday! This is highly unprofessional. You have lost my business.

I used this attorney and made it very clear that we were to go to trial as fast as possible. She delayed trial TWICE without consulting me and said that what I wanted did not matter to her. I told her that she had an obligation to keep me informed. She then decided to quit my case. I would NOT recommend this attorney to anyone. It turned out that she also revealed information to the other side that harmed my case. She said that it was a "courtesy". I don't know where she went to school or where she learned ethics, but I think she should stop the career.

Advice. Never hire Ryan O'Conner. He does NOT respond. Does NOT care about a client. DID NOT update me about the case for several months. He should be barred from practicing the law.

Robert was not ready, nor qualified to take my case. Very incompetent. Not knowledgeable in the area of law that my case required. He would have been better off referring my case to a different lawyer. For this reason, I ended up with a 14.5 year sentence. Ruined my life.

Langdon and I signed an agreement and he told me I had nothing to worry about. He botched my entire claim. He was out of his League. He had absolutely no idea how to resolve the issue and then he dropped me as a client. Because of that I never got a settlement and I blame him.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.

Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.

Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
