He was also very honest in his recommendations and did not try to upsell me on expensive services I didn't need for my situation.

Attorney Karra Porter said she would send a gramma request to get a 911 call and other police records for our family. After a month or two I called back to follow up and her paralegal stated that they had forgot to do it due to a family emergency but that they would definitely still do it. After another month or so I called back to see if there were any updates and was not called back. Over a period of close to 4-6 months they have not returned my phone calls or voicemails. At one point the receptionist told me that Karra would call me back the next day and she did not. If they were not interested or willing to look into this I would have found another attorney. But both Karra and her paralegal said they would do this for me and they did not; or if they have done it they have not given me any updates. Due to this delay we have now passed the 1 year mark of my family member’s passing and may not be able to hold the city accountable if there was in fact any neglect of duty. I believed that Karra was sincere in her willingness to help out my family but due to either her failure to act or failure to inform us of any actions taken, she has done our family more harm than if she would have simply declined.

Joe Nemelka 5 stars for sure! I have used Joseph Lee Nemelka 4 times in the past 20 years and am very pleased with each and every outcome. You may find a cheaper attorney but you may also end up with less than favorable results.
I would not even consider using anyone other than Joe Nemelka .He has saved me thousands of dollars in the long run. If you're looking for a fantastic Attorney, Joe is your man.

He never gave me information about my case. Every time I would contact him he was on vacation and would inform me that he will contact me once he gets back to his office. That never occurred, then I receive an email saying "Testing... testing..."!! No information about my case and expected me to pay $300 more because of that email. I missed the court date and haven't been able to track down my ex-wife since.
If you like throwing your money away, this is where to do it.

Mark Wiser, might talk the talk and making you believe that he will defend you and will on a few “written” responses, leading you to believe he has your back, but when it comes down to it and when you need him the most. He CAVES like a WET NOODLE. NOT the man you want to take to a gun fight or war because he is cahoots with the enemy and $$
He is unorganized,, scatter, and can’t keep his cases straight let alone be on top of yours.
His best quality is making sure his invoice and billing are sent out on time.

K. Barton was the worst decision I made during my divorce. Not only is K. Barton ineffective counsel, she is incompetent. She created a procedural nightmare. She waived my rights to alimony, child support, temporary orders. Now I am paying back child support to a deadbeat dad, and my children were living with me! I cannot undo what she has done. She should be disbarred.

I met with Mr. Hanks seeking assistance in obtaining alimony that my ex-husband had not paid for several months. His counsel to me was to write a letter requesting the behind payments, when I received no reply he also sent a letter of request, again no reply. This was my first insight into Mr. Hanks ethics and moral code....while he represented me in this case, he treated all involved with dignity....offering the opportunity for my ex to bring the balance due before going into court. I again was impressed with the due diligence that Mr. Hanks and his assistant performed in representing my request, at the same time conferring with my ex-husband to give him the opportunity to resolve the payment issue before going before the judge.

This was the worst experience of my life. He was over priced, having his paralegal do the majority of the work which was mostly reading over what I wrote and putting into a template (i.e. had no value). He would call me up randomly and discuss things unrelated to the case and bill me for it. He did not seem to care or put effort into my case and reviewed it on the way to court with little to say at court. If anything, he seemed to give fuel and power to the other attorney and reiterated what was already written. I was ill advised and seemed worse off having hired him.

Utah law does allow for an annulment, but it is very challenging and very rarely granted. They are complex cases and the rules are very precise on what is allowed for annulment.
I had a complex issue that I strongly believed constituted an annulment vs a divorce. Justin Ashworth conferred with me directly on multiple occasions and advised at the onset of the case that this would be a challenge and that there is no guarantee the Judge would grant an annulment and possibley make me choke down a divorce. I was worried as the Judge advised on preliminary hearing that he had never granted an annulment and wondered why a divorce would not apply., Justin Ashworth did his research in case law, conferred with me in person to obtaini exhibits and listen to my story. He developed a game plan on how to proceed throughout the process. Practiced with me and put together the case.
Justin Ashworth was able to eloquently answer that question the Judge had asked why an annulment and not divorce. I was granted my annulment. This was indeed a challenging case and I am very pleased will the patience, professionalism work that Justin Ashworth provided. I hope I never have to use him again but if I had another family law issue, I definitely would not hesitate to use him again.

I paid him $2500 initially to look into any appeals available to concerning a DCFS support decision affecting my daughter. Decision was made by an "administrative law judge" without a notice or opportunity to appear. There is a reason this clown doesn't have an office or a way to contact him - he doesn't want to be found. When I attempt to fire him for doing virtually nothing my certified mail to his website address was returned as non-deliverable. I filed a complaint with the Utah State Bar and he made false statements and submitted bogus billing charges mostly for "internet searches" at $225 an hour. Lazy and incompetent!

Before hiring Justin, I had hired another attorney (Ste... Ch.........). That attorney (Ste... Ch.........) was the worst attorney. I hired Roger and James Mcconkie to take on my case after my last attorney botched another case and absconded out of the country with the settlement.
My case was a very tough case for Roger & James to take over since it was left in such a mess by my last attorney. I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle. This was the 3rd time and left me with the most injuries. I had not hired an attorney after the first 2 times being hit but I've known of Roger and that he was an attorney. Fortunately for me, I just happen to cross paths with him. He knew me well enough to ask what happened and I told him. After that I thought I would try to get him to represent me with the accident. He does not usually do personal injury work but he and his partners at Workman Nydegger agreed to have Roger take my case. Legal issues do take time to resolve but Roger took care of everything. I had Roger's direct cell line and could get in touch with him or two of his assistants at any time. I feel fortunate to have had someone of Roger's talents on my side.

Roger was hired to litigate a case against an attorney that absconded with hundreds of thousands of dollars from our small business. Roger was asked to secure a TRO against the defendant until the case could reach a hearing. Roger unilaterally opted against the TRO. Before we knew it the funds were gone. Roger is more interested in his own status and convenience than the interests of his clients. I strongly recommend against hiring him.

I spent over $300,000.00 using Heather Thuet as my supposed advocate, She tried to mask her lack of knowledge of the law with haughtiness. i had to go to her colleagues to reason with her. I asked her for written opinions of specific legal questions, she didn't provide them. I have spent millions in legal fees and the money i spent on hiring her was the most ill-spent. She doesn't know the law and she doesn't care to learn it.

Everyone carries a hope they don’t realize: I hope I never have the need for an attorney. Unfortunately, this hope often means we find ourselves unprepared when the need actually arises. In my case, I found myself involved in a lawsuit with a former friend of mine—someone I had explicitly trusted—and had no idea what to do. Fortunately, another friend of mine found Heather Thuet during a quick Google search for “real estate attorneys.” We called her firm, scheduled a consultation, and prepared for the worst; so many stereotypes exist, painting attorneys as “bloodsuckers” or as someone who is willing to sidestep ethics in order to pad the bill.
Heather completely defied this stereotype. As I started to explain the situation that had brought me to her, she was kind and empathetic. She listened carefully and asked a few questions and I could already see a strategy forming in her head. She knew what to do immediately and her expertise brought such a relief to my anxieties. When the inevitable question of cost came-up, I was thrilled with her description of how things would work. There would, of course, be standard things she would have to be responsible for, but any research that could be done by me would be offered to me first, as a cost saving measure.
Throughout the process, I never felt as if my time was being abused. Heather kept me informed of everything that was happening and was available to answer questions, but nothing was dragged out. She aimed for a settlement so as to avoid the expensive costs of going to court and never filed unnecessary documents with the courts. The other person involved in the lawsuit, my former friend, had an attorney who wasn’t so kind. His counsel submitted a ridiculous number of unnecessary filings and refused a settlement. Despite our efforts, we ended up in a courtroom.
This, however, was where Heather really shined. She prepared me and all of our witnesses for what we should expect while on the stand, she came with all of our exhibits well organized and thought out, and she was ready for whatever the plaintiff’s counsel could have thrown at us. Her courtroom manner is impeccable: professional, intelligent, and very deliberate.
When the judgement was presented, I’m happy to say it was a win for us! We won! My family’s home of ten years was on the line, but the judge found it fitting to allow me to refinance it into my name with nothing owed to the other party.
Heather is a gem. While I would still hope I don’t have need for an attorney again, I would immediately contact Heather if the need ever arose. She was fair, compassionate, and incredibly talented.

I can understand if he is not interested in my case, but why waste people time by not replying.

I had contacted my nephew , a lawyer in California, because of a serious escalation in the harassment to myself from an individual who was an acquaintance I had known here in California but had moved to Utah. This individual was calling me at home, at my office accusing me of the most ludicrous offenses against him, his family and even his pets. This had been going on for quite awhile but when his harassment went from threatening phone calls to being served a restraining order , a small claims court case, and trying to get a D.A. order for my arrest for alleged hate crimes against him and his family, I had to protect myself and get legal advice and representation. Attorney Karra Porter said she would send a gramma request to get a 911 call and other police records for our family. After a month or two I called back to follow up and her paralegal stated that they had forgot to do it due to a family emergency but that they would definitely still do it. After another month or so I called back to see if there were any updates and was not called back. Over a period of close to 4-6 months they have not returned my phone calls or voicemails. At one point the receptionist told me that Karra would call me back the next day and she did not. If they were not interested or willing to look into this I would have found another attorney. But both Karra and her paralegal said they would do this for me and they did not; or if they have done it they have not given me any updates. Due to this delay we have now passed the 1 year mark of my family member’s passing and may not be able to hold the city accountable if there was in fact any neglect of duty. I believed that Karra was sincere in her willingness to help out my family but due to either her failure to act or failure to inform us of any actions taken, she has done our family more harm than if she would have simply declined.
