I was one of those people who bought a house in 2006 at the top of the market and then divorced my husband the following year and incurred all the family debt as a way to get out of a toxic marriage . Although I made good money, I was in way over my head and the bank was about to foreclose on my home. I had an 13 year old son who loved his neighborhood and school and I was desperate to stay in my home. I contacted Gary Holt after a friend recommended him. AJ was my first contact and he quickly summed up my issues. Chapter 13 would save the home eliminate the second mortgage and I would be debt free in 5 years. It is five years later and yesterday I paid my final trustee payment. It is just in time for me to start paying for my son's university education. I am DEBT FREE! Gary and his assistant AJ have been there every step of the way and them more highly. They saved my home and help pave the way for my son's future. And five years later I sent an e-mail 'am I done' and within 15 minutes Gary had returned my message-is that service? I'd say so. Love them both for everything they have done for me.

Gary Holt may be the best BK attorney in San Diego County. I did tons of internet research which lead me to a top LA BK attorney, After my phone consult with the LA attorney he informed that he didn't do cases in San Diego County. After asking if he had any recommendations for a San Diego BK attorney the only name that he could recommend was Gary Holt. My wife and I had a very challenging BK, we had too much debt for a CH 13 yet had issues with the means test to qualify for a CH 7 case. Gary still managed to push our case through the system. At our hearing the trustee claimed he was going to recover 75K in what he considered preferential payments but Gary successfully rebutted that attempt with case law. We ultimately did get our CH 7 discharge right on time-line and with it a fresh start.

I am extremely surprised in Gary's professionalism and communication. First, I spoke to Gary explaining my situation on the ph. Then, I scheduled an appointment with him just a few days after our ph call. When I arrived, I was told he wouldn't be in due to Gary needed to be somewhere to wait for some furniture to be delivered. I gave his office my files, signed his disclaimer and paid him a cash down payment. I kept calling, emailing his staff, and emailing Gary with question's I needed for him to answer, and confirm due to me saving my house through a modification. I gave him money to start my case, yet I never received an email or a call from Gary with an apology for not contacting me with his reasoning’s. Instead, it took Gary two weeks to finally talk (yelling with agitation in his voice) to me over the ph to tell me how to do my modification on my house. Here is a quote by Gary, "I have to hear 100 times over by my clients on how they give money to agencies to save their home and they get ripped off and I'm tired of hearing it". I told Gary, "you are not a modification lawyer, you are a bankruptcy lawyer. I understand your intentions are good, but I hired you to do my bankruptcy, not my modification on my house". He made me feel very patronized by his attitude, which I couldn't figure out why he had one. I am a repeat customer of his and I could have gone to any bk lawyer...their a dime a dozen now a days, but I chose Gary figuring he would want some business. Gary wanted to take the full amount of my down payment to get him started on my case because he claimed that he did $900.00 worth of work. I told him, I believe that no one works for nothing, especially now with our economy, so I would give him half of what I gave him and I will come by to pick up my files and the balance that day. He cut me off and said, "fine!". As I came to the office to pick up my thing's and my check, I mentioned that AJ, his assistant, should receive the money I gave him. AJ was the only proof of any work being done on my file. AJ gave quick responses on my message's to Gary and picked up the phone everytime. Gary, if your reading this, don't lose AJ, he will help keep your business above water. Your lucky to have him! I truely do not know why he acted the way he did, nor even contacted me by an easy way of an email to answer my simple questions. I gave him the benefit of the doubt by thinking he was having a bad day...his action's proved wrong through the whole process. YOU JUST DON'T TREAT PEOPLE IN THIS DAY OF AGE WITH POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I am now with a lawyer who has been very communcative in responding to me within a 24 hour period. They are also, less expensive then Gary was. I do wish you, Gary, all the best and peace.

Due to my medical condition and the business environment, I got to a point where I couldn't make credit card payments anymore. So I didn't. But I don't really understand the paperwork system so I just let it be. After 3 years, a judgment was entered against me. So I can't simply avoid the situation like I have been doing. Which is a big mistake by the way (I should have taken care of this in the first year). But live and learn. So I did internet research and found that bankruptcy was my best (and probably only) option. So I could try to file bankruptcy papers myself and save money - which I don't recommend. Why? Because I am going to get buried in paperwork and if I fill things out incorrectly... who knows what outcome I will get or how long it will take to get my discharge. So I called 6 attorneys. Prices in San Diego vary from $1000-$2500. Funny thing is - all the attorneys are providing the same service. So, what do you do? Are you sure the most expensive attorney is the best? Do you really want to go with the cheapest legal center - that office that has 5 different attorneys pumping out bankruptcies - and you interact with the paralegal and not the attorney. I wanted someone honest and reliable. Linda was not the cheapest but she was affordable. She was very articulate over the phone, so I think that is what sold me. Some of the attorneys play $ games. They quote a high price but will negotiate downward. With Linda - you don't have to do that. She gives you the right price from the first phone call. So - she may seem a little bit cheaper but she is about the same price as the others that are playing games by starting out artificially high with the quoted fee. But I don't want an attorney who plays games. I want someone who is honest and straightforward. I want my attorney to be honest with me, and honest with the bankruptcy trustee. So I went with Linda, and I am glad I did. Linda can be reached any time you need her - either by phone or by email (whatever you like) - and she is just a down to earth hard working family woman. Linda knows the law and is very good with paperwork. She is accurate and precise. She has an assistant Tammy who was also very reliable in my interactions with her. Both Linda and Tammy answered all my emails and phone calls promptly and thoroughly. Which means... no stress... at all. Linda helped me write the paperwork. She is needed because the bankruptcy court expects things to look a certain way. For example - I can't write that my monthly food expense is $1000. The system doesn't allow it. So we had to lower it to $300. Now, how am I going to eat on $300/month when one single burrito at Roberto's taco shop is $12?? That's why I need Linda. Because the court system is based on the rules of paperwork and not the rules of reality. I needed to get my bankruptcy paperwork in fast because I started to worry that the judgment creditor may come after my car. So... I asked Linda how fast she could do it? She said she will do what it takes to help me. So Linda took time away from her kids to meet with me in her law office in Downtown San Diego late in the evening. We filled out the paperwork together and nailed it! From there - the process unfolded seamlessly and I think it was about 3 months total before my discharge. That's the fastest it can be done due to court timeline and procedures. Go with Linda and do it right. I'm sure there are other good bankruptcy lawyers in San Diego, but - based on my experience with Ms. Mcaleer - I tell you no one could have done it better. Thank you, Linda. I am a simple guy who just got lost financially. You navigated me out of my nightmare.

Mr. Tsimberg helped me through a very difficult weekend. Dimitry helped me a lot with closing an international transaction in between me and an American antiquities collector. He studied and found solutions in the complex matter of antiquities import regulations of the United States and Europe and made a solid contract. We had a problem collecting money from one of our customers. We were nervous about getting a lawyer involved as we had never used one before and wasn't sure of the costs. After Dimitry sent a firm letter, followed by a law suit, the customer called and paid as soon as it was filed. Dimitry gave excellent advise, was patient with us and took his time to explain or options. The process was swift and the costs were minimal. I was David vs Goliath. My ex had a powerful family and stacked the deck against me, and I thought I would never get to have my son. My ex and her family had done everything they could to keep me and my son seperated. I had nobody to help me. I wish my experience with Janet had been as good as everyone else posting here. Unfortunately, it was not. While she was fairly knowledgeable about my legal matter, she became quite irate when I requested an itemized invoice to submit to the court, and she wrote several emails chastising me for asking. I was very upset by her emails and asked her to stop sending them. Even though my case has been settled, Janet has persisted in sending me emails soliciting donations for various charities she is involved with even though I have asked her to stop. I will be calling the local bar association on Monday to see if they can assist me in stopping these unwanted emails.

I went through a very long probate process due to a lot of complications dealing with assets and family conflicts. We wound up having to hire separate lawyers. I decided to hire RMO law firm and Stephanie K. Delaney was my Lawyer. She worked very hard and was a big help getting me through a lot of the problems dealing with assets and family issues. She remained calm helping me get through this long drawn out process. She was easy to get a hold of and was always available when things got out of control. Toward the end, there were a lot of documents to sign that were hard to understand but Stephanie helped me when I had questions. When closing probate there was a couple delays but Stephanie was able to straighten things out with the lawyer for the other family member and we were finally able to close probate. I thank Stephanie for all her help. She was pleasant to work with and I’m so happy to have her as my lawyer. I want to thank Scott Rahn (RMO) as well for agreeing to take my case and work with lawyers from another firm that the other family member had hired. Scott Rahn would step in on occasion when his expertise was needed .

We hired Britney Malpiede to prepare and litigate in Family Court on two occasions. She arrived prepared with full knowledge of the scope of our complex situation and was able condense our argument into simple rational terms for the court, which she articulated with great skill and respect. Defending us during a short Ex Parte hearing, Brit was able to to completely change our Judge's initial bias by convincing the Judge to take recess and read the strong declaration with evidence she prepared. After which I was awarded Joint Legal Custody. Brit is both professional and empathetic; she gives advise based on experience and careful investigation. Brit showed she clearly has good standing/ reputation with the San Diego Court. This matters a great deal. When she spoke, the Judge listened. I couldn't not say the same for the other party's aggressive counsel. If you are searching for an attorney, look no further. You are in good hands with Britney Malpiede.

If you are involved in a family law case I couldn’t stress the importance of a good lawyer enough. I talked to, and was disappointed by several Family Law offices before meeting Ms. Malpiede back in 2014. When she began working on my case I was in a really bad place in terms of being able to see my kids. Ms. Malpiede always conducted herself professionally and had the foresight to help me “go high” when the opposing party “went low” and to always put the children first. Now, thanks to Ms. Malpiede I am able to be with my kids every week. I’m very happy with and grateful for Ms. Malpiede’s work.

Ms, Malpiede went up against my ex's attorney who's slogan was " When the rings come off, the gloves do too!" She remained professional, maintained her cool and ultimately stayed (professionaly, I might add) the course to achieve the best result to my case. She is knowledgeable about military divorce(which mine was), compassionate and supportive throughout the entire process, even though I was an ex-wife who hadn't worked in four years, was blindsided by this process and she explained everything to me, this helped me SO MUCH and for which I remain eternally grateful!! Attorney Marrinan took time out of his busy schedule to speak with me in a consultation over the phone. However, he indicated that he would not be taking my case. Since I had a bad experience with the Sheriff's Department, Michael suggested that I move out of the city. He indicated that I might possibly incur future harassment. After my experience with the Police State, I told him I wanted to move out of the the United States. He trained me regarding law enforcement and about specific things the "forgotten man and woman" should know. He wanted to know if I incurred medical bills as a result the Sheriff's Department assault on me. I indicated that I had.

I am a DUI attorney for 36 years and in practice for 39 years in San Diego Ca. I referred a terrible police abuse case to Mike where the police officer tore a urine bag off the body of my poor client dieing of cancer. The cop then threw the bag dripping with human waste on to the grass. He was subsequently taken to the hospital. On a case like this there is only one attorney I trust and that is the masters level in police abuse cases Mike Marrinan. Unbelievably he came to my clients home on saturday in the rain and spent over an hour with the family. How knowledgeable and gracious he is. I can not say enough about this champion of human rights. I thought my relative needed legal help. I exchanged multiple messages with Scott and paid a retainer.. Scott spend time and advised, and when it was clear representation is not required, returned the fee to last penny. Grateful not customer. Honest Scott.

I live in Orange County, went to a Charger-Patriots game, and got embroiled in a 'fraudulent handicapped plackard display and parking' "ticket". Given this was a misdemeanor and NOT a parking infraction, it required an attorney. I Called Scott, got him within 1 minute, and he took it on and got this entire mess dismissed. He is dedicated to the truth, and aggressive in dealing with the prosecution. Need I say more?? Thanks, Scott, again !! Impressive!!!!

I had a phenomenal experience with Shelli! I am so grateful for all of her hard work and kindness and honestly kind of sad that now that our case is settled, I won't get to talk to her as much because she's so sweet. She was extremely responsive (even when emergencies came up like early on a Sunday morning) and always just so understanding and kind. She spent hours upon hours reviewing my case and I felt like she really understood my son and his needs. She gave excellent advice. She worked so hard for us and we're really happy with the results she achieved. I highly recommend her!

Coronado Unified School District revoked my disabled sons interdistrict transfer with 5 weeks left in the 23-24 school year because of his behavior (a direct manifestation of his disability). They were unable to support him effectively and apparently thought effectively kicking him out was easier. Jennifer Holtzman was an absolute treasure in bringing this to the school district and we were ultimately successful and settled. While the district doesn't "admit guilt" through a settlement, I hope they understand that what they did was disgusting at best. Very thankful to have the Law Office of Matthew Storey on our side.

I truly cannot say enough positive things about Estey & Bomberger. Steve and Angela have helped guide me through the nerve racking and emotional process over the last couple years. Along with Olivia a victim advocate that was there for me every single step of the way. Angela is there to answer any question or concern even if I had already asked it 5 times.
