Thanks to the Mlnarik Law Group I was able to get primary custody of my daughter. My attorney “Bill Winters” is great at what he does. If you provide him with the proper information needed and are aware of accurate dates he can help you. This is a very professional law group. It all started with a Free 30 minute consultation, You get what you pay for. I understand the thought of getting and paying a lawyer can seem scary. “Michele” the office manager is great when it comes to setting up payment plans and is understanding. (This doesn’t mean you get away with paying nothing people) they are understanding though when it comes to the date and amount you can pay and are willing to work with you. I haven’t fully finished out my services with This company yet, but I will write a finishing review when done also. So far they have been great and more then helpful. I hope this message helps for whoever is reading.

I would have given Edward Litwin zero star if I could as my recent encounter with him was nothing short of a complete disappointment, and I feel compelled to warn others about this attorney's incompetence, poor judgment, and money-driven motives. Right from the start, it was painfully evident that Attorney Litwin was ill-prepared and lacked the necessary knowledge to address my legal concerns. Their advice was not only flawed but shockingly inaccurate, leaving me deeply concerned about the potential repercussions of following their guidance. To compound the issue, Litwin displayed an alarming level of negligence when it came to communication. Waiting for their response to a simple email felt like an eternity. This utter disregard for prompt and effective communication only heightened my anxiety and frustration. Fortunately, I had the wisdom to reject his misguided advice and sought counsel from another legal professional. While this decision resulted in higher fees, the marked difference in competence was astonishing. The second lawyer provided accurate guidance, and my case was successfully resolved, reaffirming the importance of investing in competent legal representation. I wholeheartedly discourage anyone from considering Edward Litwin for their legal needs. Their lack of knowledge, poor judgment, delayed responses, and money-centric approach are a disservice to the legal profession and a potential detriment to your case. Learn from my experience, and choose a lawyer who truly cares about your concerns and provides sound advice.

Despite his long time experience, I found Mr. Litwin unknowledgeable. I met with him to consult about my H1b matter and he could not answer many of my questions, although he charged pretty much for a 30 minute consultation. If you just need to fill up some forms, then maybe you can go to him, but if you need some good advice, creativity and out of the box thinking, then he is certainly not the one for you. In all, I would not recommend this lawyer.

Alex Park was unprofessional, rude, and dishonest. When my husband had questions about his immigration case, Alex always responded in a demeaning, cutting way, which we later realized was due to the fact that he did not know or do anything about his case. I thought it was strange that a lawyer would literally yell (I could hear him) at a paying client. Not only that, but his wife, his secretary, would also yell at my husband for calling to speak to Alex. Alex would call once in a while to let my husband know about "new developments" in the case. These usually consisted of something that had to do with something bad about to happen but if we paid him, it would all be resolved. For example, once he called and said that the courts were going the review my husband's file soon, but if we gave him $15,000 then he could put a team together for us. Suspicious, we asked him for a detailed summary of what our money was paying him for - this is something professional lawyers document. His detailed summary had a couple lines - attorney fee, processing fee. This was a red flag! There was no physical evidence that he was doing ANYTHING for my husband's case. In the end, we got a new attorney who was courteous, professional, and helped us fight our case in court in a matter of months as opposed the several years my husband worked with Alex Park. DO NOT HIRE HIM!

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
