From Rowan and Martin Laugh-in. If your lawyer is asleep, better give him a nudge. Everybody look alive, because here come da judge. He assumed some things that were wrong, and also failed to answer my calls, thereby torching my case.

This attorney is very straight forward and speaks to a client on their level of comprehension . I was very pleased with his answering any and all my questions. His ability to calm and reassure me in going through the process of Social security Disability and other issues was both professional and personal. He gets to KNOW you not just the issue. His responding to my calls ,faxes and emails were so QUICK! It was unbelievable! I recommend this attorney for any law issue. . He in my experience is very capable & successful !

This attorney showed great interest for my child's well-being. He kept me well informed of every detail, made sure I understood everything and did everything he could to get what was needed. I was awarded full custody of my daughter while the mother is permitted to have supervised visitations (even though she does not see our child.) Mr. Parker is the best family attorney.

Going back a number of years ago my wife and I consulted with Marjorie about possibly filing a bankruptcy. At the consultation Marjorie happily Accepted a check for A retainer of over a $1000 from us. The only reason we had that money was from a tax return. Shortly after we decided not to go through with the bankruptcy and asked for the refund. Let me add, There were no papers filled out and no paperwork filed for a bankruptcy. No work on her part was rendered at any time. Her assistant acted as if she knew nothing about it so I provided them with a copy of the cashed check. I followed up with the assistant/secretary many times leaving voicemail messages and talking to them directly over the phone. I was always given the run around that they had to discuss it with Marjorie. They literally had a copy of the cash check that they cashed. What more would they possibly need to prove they owed it to us. After over a year of getting the run around and being ignored we finally gave up. She took the money, Never provided any services for it And refused to acknowledge us. She is a piece of garbage in my eyes and not worth the space she takes up or the money she steals. Literally taking Over a $1000 from someone who is SO down and out that they are considering bankruptcy. What a despicable human being. After looking through the reviews it appears that we were not the only victims.

Upon consulting Mr. Preate regarding allegations made against my 11 year old son - he eased all my worries and gave our family the confidence we needed to proceed accordingly. We hired him and breathed a sigh of relief knowing we had him on our side. The case is still on going however every step of the way he has proven to be the perfect fit for our case. He has shown us that he is willing to fight for my son just as hard (if not harder) than I ever could. Extremely intelligent and a straight shooter. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a good criminal defense attorney.

I wish I could give Mr Coyer zero stars.. my friend, an 87 year old woman, who can barely walk hired Mr Coyer to write her will. She gave him the name of her daughter as well as her niece to be the executors of her estate. Mr Coyer had her sign in his office before the documents were completed. When the will was finished he called her to pick it up. When she got home she looked at the document and began to read it over only to discover that Mr Coyer had named himself as the executor and left her family out completely. He would not take her calls to discuss it. I have read the document myself and I can't believe an attorney would do something like this. In addition Mr Coyer accompanied my friend to a funeral director that he was recommending to her. She was told she would need to pay $5000 to have her body donated to medical science. When she realized that couldn't possibly be right she visited another funeral home on her own where she was quoted $540. I find this to be absolutely appalling and unethical and would love to have Mr Coyer explain himself. It is disgusting on a whole how our elderly population is treated all over our country. Something needs to change. Everyone is eventually elderly which means this is a problem that affects us all. Thank you.

Okay turns out Matt isn’t reliable and actually is the worst I’ve ever had. He knows all the right things to say to string u along but wen it comes down to it, he’s only about money and will screw u at trial by not showing up. This guy actually had the balls to offer to help me pro-bono w/custody of my 2 yr old baby girl but never showed up to court on the day trial was starting. If I wasn’t able to come to an agreement w/my ex that day I could have lost custody of my child b/c of this twatwaffle atty Matt. How r u gonna offer to help me n then leave me hanging high n dry. I didn’t ask for his crap representation. U can’t just go around messing w/ ppls lives like that. Especially wen kids r involved. That’s just the lowest of the low. I retained him for driving on a DUI suspended license, (Even tho I was found not-guilty on said DUI) but nevertheless I wondered into his office and retained him because he's known as a fighter in mostly the federal arena so he's not to worried about stepping on MDJ's toes he got the case tossed on a bad service, well he sent an associate to handle his dirty work which was my only issue with his services but he was probley busy trying to save some other poor soul. I'd recommend him.

Paul walker is the best lawyer for any criminal case!! I say that from facts ,Paul has represented me two time and believe me when I tell u that I was happy with the resource. Paul take time out to hear his clients and he fights for what is right. a men who like to get to the point, may seem serious or got somewhere else to be, but that's only because he has a strong judge of character and have the best interest of his clients!! Paul will get the best deals for his clients or take it to trial he is not scare to tell the D.A like it is, he's not with selling out his clients he knows the law like he knows the back of his hands he doesn't have to come to court in a expensive tuxedo to explore his royalty for his knowledge of the law says it all !! I know every client is entitled to his own opinion however I read one client review he stating that Paul seem like he didn't have time for him but to me it seem like he was looking for someone to hold his hands if Paul did that with everyone he wont have time to keep his clients out of jail

I could not have made worse choice than to hire this attorney. He was rude, unprofessional, and made it seem like he had somewhere better to be every time I spoke to him, even when we were in court. He is obviously smart, but lazy. He should have retired long ago. He doesn't care in the least how his cases turn out, only that he gets paid for his time. I found out AFTER my case that he had mislead me about the seriousness of the consequences I faced. He didn't lie but he left huge steps out of his 'explanation' of what he had me agree to in court, and I'll have to deal with that for the rest of my life. Do not trust this man with your future. You will be the one paying the price, long after he has forgotten your name.

I contacted this attorney to advise her that my nephew is potentially the father of a child she represents. She laughed at us, ignored our request for Dna, and looked the other way. She continued to try and advocate for the adoption of child in question out, against legal protocol. She states she will not cooperate and will fight claims, even though no legal father has been established in this case. The child had blood relatives willing to step forward and she ignores the legal rights of the potential father, and “doesn’t recall” a phone conversation stating potential paternity.

Mr Mazzoni is not someone that I would do business with for the following reasons. The man did not do any preparation for the meeting that I drove an hour and a half to and proceeded to give me indirect answers to any of my questions. He repeated himself on numerous points and went off topic with many tangents. He was not up front with any fees nor took the time to explain what process was involved . Having a concern of my time and resources, I wanted a legitimate estimate and I would never trust someone who was tight lipped on that from the start. Get someone who wants to invest the time in your case because this man will just give you a song and a dance.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
