Before I contacted the law offices of Tim Billick I felt powerless and very upset after discovering that someone had taken the intellectual property that I worked so hard to create and was selling it online without my permission. To my surprise and disbelief, Mr. Billick had the infringing material removed from the Internet much quicker than I ever imagined was possible. Now I am feeling so relieved! If you're looking for a skilled attorney who will fight tooth and nail to protect your intellectual property rights, Mr. Billick isn't just an attorney you're are looking. Mr. Billick is THE ATTORNEY you're looking for.

I consulted TBillick Law on a complex copyright licensing issue that intersects with trust & estate law. Several IP attorneys passed on advising me due to the complexity, but Tim had relevant experience in both areas and took the time to figure out the best approach. He even did some background research and made calls before I officially signed up as a client and did not charge me for that! He answered all my questions and carefully explained a complex legal situation. I was fortunate to have found Tim to clarify an otherwise convoluted process.

Tim Billick and his team have expertly navigated our organization through the complexities of intellectual property strategy, defense, and compliance. Tim and his team are talented and patient professionals. They are likeable, listen intently, and are skilled at solving problems that may arise in work involving complex intellectual property matters. They've helped us at The OpenCRE AI project with the legal mechanics of service and development agreements, and they are instrumental in our current licensing, patent, and technology JV strategies. We highly recommend TBillick Law.

Jamie Polito Johnston was my divorce lawyer who calmly and professionally steered me through it in a demeanor of calm professionalism and at times, needed humor and assurance. I was further aided by the help of her highly capable firm's support staff as well as other people outside of that she could recommend to me. In totality, it was an excellent team effort! My heartfelt wishes to any and all of you who are going through a divorce. Blessings.

Will Reingold was one of the attorneys who represented me in my divorce. Will’s overall attentiveness to the case and its myriad of deadlines demonstrated a high degree of detail-orientation that was incredibly reassuring during a very difficult period. It was a contentious case in which many motions were filed by both parties, which meant a lot of legal writing had to be done. Will’s writing was unfailingly crisp, concise (while still comprehensive), and persuasive. Through his writing I could tell how seriously he took my case, and how much he cared about the way his rhetoric would put me in a position to achieve a positive outcome. Additionally, the speed with which Will was able to produce incredibly well-written artifacts was equally impressive. If you are looking for someone to do excellent work for you, you will be hard pressed to find a better writer than Will.

I've hired Rob Bartlett to represent me in a real estate lawsuit. Rob has been truly amazing since day 1. He is transparent about pricing and the legal process, communicates with clarity and in terms that people don't need extensive knowledge in the field to understand. He is an expert and highly experienced in real estate litigations. Of course, he helped us win the lawsuit. I would recommend Rob and this firm to anyone who needs help with real estate litigations.

We hired this firm twice this year, to assist with a house purchase. This firm is in network with the legal plan associated with our employee benefits. I found the whole process very easy. Never have been addressed formally as ‘mister’ so much, and I think I like it. The lawyers and other staff were responsive and competent and patient with our many questions. They worked well with our real estate agent. Why would someone not want to hire a lawyer to help us navigate the biggest purchase of our lives? Five stars. Review updated 11/2022: We have continued to use this attorney office, this time for estate planning, last will and testament, etc. I have been very happy with them. As a xennial, my generation tends to not use lawyers much, but these folks make it super easy.

Margaret and her paralegal are either sick. Their family is sick or they are out of time for long periods of time. They both have random phone numbers that they call you with one of them always says unknown. They want to meet with you for four hours at time to review things that have already been discussed at meetings prior. I have not had one invoice from Margaret Fitzpatrick that states where my $10,000 went. When I asked for an invoice, she said that they always send them on the first of the month. Why couldn’t she just send me an invoice at that time? Scary. I have been scammed. I received notice from my ex-husband‘s attorney that she is not representing me. I’ve tried to contact all of the telephone numbers that I have that came from Margaret or her paralegal. I have not received any response though she is my acting attorney for the next 13 days. I called their office and I was hung up on.. I placed a review not less than five minutes ago and it was taken off. I am definitely going to be seeking legal retribution and keep my review posted even if I have to continue to post it every two minutes. They claimed they have clear communication and empathy to relieve your fears and anxiety on their website, but that is the complete opposite from the truth. I beg you do not go here. You will be told to do a whole bunch of things that traditionally are needed but when you send these items via email, they will come back and say to you, they did not receive them. Margaret typically will say she did not receive them because her paralegal is sick. I was on the phone for three hours, explaining that I had already sent all the information she was saying I did not send. I resent the emails that I sent her while we were on the phone. When I looked back at my emails, they were proved to have been sent to her originally. I have all of my emails still and every single message from this office stating my facts above to be true. I hope you read this for your mental and physical health. Do not go here!!

Thanks to her meticulous attention to detail and deep understanding of the process, I successfully obtained my green card without any hitches. After spending 13 years in the United States, I was unable to get my citizenship due to several complications. But thankfully, Lauren helped me with the process and made it possible for me to become a citizen. She is knowledgeable, organized, and easily reachable. Lauren was always there to respond to my phone calls and emails quickly, and most importantly, she was very patient. The process was quite stressful, and unexpected surprises kept coming up, but Lauren patiently guided me through it all. She worked directly with me and was aware of all the details. I highly recommend her services to anyone in need of a lawyer.

Steve Teller represented me on a case that we closed just today. While I don't know him well (yet), I am extremely impressed with both his persona and practice. He went out of his way to be extraordinarily respectful of some of my differences, and genuinely fought hard for me. Our opponent on the case was a massive corporation that had first wronged me, then tried to deny their wrongdoing, and finally they brought terrifying and unscrupulous lawyers to their side of the table to muddy the waters with counteraccusations and vile lies. But unlike 90% of attorneys out there, I believe Steve truly cares about the Little Guy and he really went to bat for me on a case that I thought was hopeless at times- fighting against a dug-in Goliath with limitless resources. But Steve never quit advocating for me, and in the end we eked out a modest victory. Even though we achieved merely a moderate settlement that was not necessarily lifechanging money, I couldn't have felt more happy and vindicated (and plan to put that couple thousand G's to good use). While I can't speak for how every case goes, or to the ultimate depths and breadths of his legal acumen, this case here did Steve Teller Law some serious credit... And I can't thank you enough, Steve.

We are contemplating a move back to Washington state where we lived for many years. Without proper estate planning we would potentially be subject to the Washington estate tax. n our initial contacts with the firm, we clearly identified that we were residents in another state. We were instructed to provide our detailed financial picture as well as our current estate planning documents which we provided promptly and told that our information would be forwarded to the attorneys for evaluation. The following is the email response. “Thank you for filling out and returning your Questionnaire. I will forward your information to our attorneys for review. Once they have completed their review, I will be back in touch with you regarding a quote for services and the next steps for scheduling.” Well over a month went by with no word back from STIB. I finally contacted them by email requesting a status update. Within minutes, I received the following reply. “Thank you very much for contacting our firm. Unfortunately, we are not able to take on your case. Our firm does not advise out-of-state residents on tax issues. Our focus is estate planning and long term care planning.” The STIB website clearly tax issues as part of estate planning. I also found no restrictions on attorneys in Washington state providing consultation to out-of-state residents considering residency in Washington. Needless to say, I was astounded by what I consider to extremely poor communication and timely follow-up. If it is indeed not their policy to advise out-of-state residents on tax issues, I would have expected to have been informed of that policy up front thus saving us the time of compiling and sending detailed and confidential financial and estate planning information. In my opinion, this represents incompetent and totally unprofessional behavior.

I recently had the privilege of working with Matthew Cunanan to draft my living will, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of excellent. From start to finish, Matthew demonstrated unparalleled professionalism, efficiency, and empathy, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. One of the standout qualities of Matthew's service was his remarkable ease to work with. He guided me through each step of the process, ensuring that I understood all aspects of my living will and addressing any concerns or questions I had along the way. His clear communication and willingness to listen made me feel heard and understood, fostering a sense of trust and confidence in his expertise. Matthew's thoughtfulness and understanding were evident throughout our interactions. He took the time to truly understand my wishes and priorities, tailoring the living will to suit my specific needs and circumstances. His compassionate approach made a potentially daunting task feel manageable, and I appreciated his genuine care for my well-being and that of my loved ones. Thanks to Matthew's expertise and dedication, I now have peace of mind knowing that I have a comprehensive living will in place to protect my sons in the event of unforeseen circumstances. His attention to detail and commitment to ensuring thorough documentation instilled in me a sense of security, knowing that my wishes will be carried out as intended. I wholeheartedly recommend Matthew Cunanan to anyone in need of living will services. His professionalism, efficiency, and compassionate approach make him a standout choice in this field. Working with Matthew was not only easy and quick but also reassuring and empowering. I am grateful for his assistance and would not hesitate to seek his expertise again in the future.

I was a passenger in a rear ended accident. Dublin Law Group made the process so much easier. Between the drivers insurance company and the other drivers insurance it was a big headache. I was getting calls from insurance companies and at times it seemed like they were trying to trick me. Dublin Law Group made it easy, I only had to deal with them. DLG made sure to contact me with updates and emailed me when I didn't answer, I never felt forgotten or that I wasn't worth their time.

I got rear ended pretty badly and my truck was totaled, my neck and shoulders got hurt badly as well. My wife was rear ended a few years ago with injuries and her car was totaled as well. She contacted Dubin Law Group and knowing how well she got taken care of, I reached out to them. My attorney, Josh Joerres and case manager Maren Nielsen treated me like family. They both went above and beyond and always let me know every step. I got a substantial settlement within a year and I will totally recommend them in a heartbeat! Thank you so much Josh and Maren for doing such a great job!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
