I don't think my situation was his normal work. It was an employment law matter, but did not involve a problem. I was asking for a review of my employment agreement. But he was gracious and helped me out nonetheless. Super professional and very helpful at a fantastic price since he doesn't have the big firm overhead. I would absolutely recommend talking to him on employment matters.

We hired this firm twice this year, to assist with a house purchase. This firm is in network with the legal plan associated with our employee benefits. I found the whole process very easy. Never have been addressed formally as ‘mister’ so much, and I think I like it. The lawyers and other staff were responsive and competent and patient with our many questions. They worked well with our real estate agent. Why would someone not want to hire a lawyer to help us navigate the biggest purchase of our lives? Five stars.
Review updated 11/2022: We have continued to use this attorney office, this time for estate planning, last will and testament, etc. I have been very happy with them. As a xennial, my generation tends to not use lawyers much, but these folks make it super easy.

I first met Pat Franke and JJ Leary in January 2000. They were just forming the boutique law firm Leary-Franke. I think I was their first customer. Many clients followed them from their previous law firm of course, but I maintain that i was the first *new* customer of their *new* firm.
Pat has been my legal counsel through four start-up companies, two acquisitions, and numerous legal travails for nearly ten years. In addition to his calm manner and deep understanding of the practical side of the law, he is a great human being.
There have been a few lean years, where the funding for the various companies I was involved with wasn't what it should have been, and neither Pat nor JJ ever made that an issue. My legal services never suffered because a VC round hadn't closed and I was six months in arrears with regard to their legal fees.
Their counsel to me has been battle tested. In ten years, I have never been surprised by the implications of a contract that Pat worked on for me. Whether the contract covered a wholly owned subsidiary in India, a lease agreement in Kirkland, multi-national financing and acquisition, employment disputes, client bankruptcy, estate planning, multi-national manufacturing agreements, crazy people, etc.
Pat has called me the "one man bar test" because of the variety of issues that I have needed his counsel on. When he isn't the best person for the job, he has always given me a recommendation that worked well. His recommendations are always highly legally competent and fit with my work/personality style.
I consider myself very fortunate to have found a lawyer that i can honestly call a *partner* for my various endevours. From Indian outsourcing companies, to experimental engines, Pat has been there for me time and time again. He is the only lawyer I have ever worked with that I think undercharges for his time. I think his billing rate is his biggest blind spot. I am glad I established my relationship with him before he figured this out...

For 10 years Pat has advised and represented multiple companies that I have worked for. I have worked very closely with Pat in first stage start-ups, fortune 50 companies and currently in another start-up. The work has been wide and varied from software licensing agreements, funding contracts to acquisitions and worker representation. I was referred to Katrina by a friend who also hired her for a tenant eviction. She is extremely knowledgeable in this area. She helped me immensely with my first ever eviction, and as a result of her work we were able to file a final judgment of eviction without a lot of extra time, money and hassle. I hired Katrina to handle an eviction case. Her flat rate was very reasonable. I especially liked that she was available for an initial consultation in her Pioneer Square office. As a part-time landlord (like many homeowners renting instead of selling in this market), I was new to the eviction process. She patiently answered my questions. I also liked how she handled herself in court - very professional and respectful of the judge. Not surprisingly, we got the ruling we wanted.
My only issue was that the whole process took longer than expected for a couple of reasons. One was that the person who served my tenant the documents had difficulty finding the house initially since the tenant had scratched the house numbers off of the mailbox. Also, using the correct forms and following the procedure precisely was critical. Lesson learned, if I ever had to do this again (knock on wood), I would hire Katrina at the first sign of non-payment. And I would keep an eye on the mailbox.

Chris was very helpful and supportive - he works hard on behalf of his clients and never cuts corners. I first hired him for defense in a criminal misdemeanor case in 2015, but since then he has been very helpful to me a couple of other times, regarding other matters. He's a bit gruff at first, especially on the phone, but don't let that scare you away. He's smart, thorough, thoughtful and protective of his clients.

I almost don't know where to start with Chris Mainard, he is an excellent attorney, and an even better person. Unfortunately, I came across some really challenging times in my life and Chris happened to come highly recommended in the same conversation as The Late, Great, Tony Savage. Unfortunately Tony Savage is no longer with us, but fortunately, Chris Mainard is still here to represent anyone that needs the best attorney in Seattle, because the stakes are that high, because you need to give yourself the best possible outcome. Stop looking and hire him, I promise you won't regret it. He is as good as they come, as reliable as they come, and the amazing part, he is as ethical as they come. I recently went through some felony stuff after three years of thinking it had just disappeared. Biggest devastation of my life. I had gotten my life together after that and honestly thought I was going to prison after everything I had accomplished after my horrible mistakes. Kimberly was very supportive and honest with me. Even though I didn't get the outcome I was expecting (or her for that matter.. lets just say the judge didn't like me at all and has a bad reputation) I still didn't end up in PRISON or actual jail for that matter. Work release for 90 days (60 with good time) so I am able to maintain my job and my life. She always responds to me emails right away and, like I mentioned, is VERY supportive. My experience was great and she stopped me on numerous occasions from having a nervous breakdown. I really love her and if you're looking for a lawyer you can trust look no further.

Kathleen Royer mediated between my co parent and I. She is a nice lady whom obviously has a lot of experience in the legal system. She understood the legal system well and could it explain it well.
However, she did very little "mediating" of core issues that stood between us. It seemed like she was more of just a 3rd party messenger between our two rooms. I got the feeling that her goal wasn't true mediation, but just to get us two to an acceptable level in the eyes of the law, by having us agree on typical and standard arrangements.
She asked me to pick my battles, but would not acknowledge that the other party was not playing nice.
By legal definition, she did her job. But I wouldn't expect her to sooth or heal any wounds that exist between parties.

The only positive that came from this was that the office did refund me my money. I lost out on a very timely situation due to their lack of attention.

Unknowledgeable, Way Too Expensive, Dropped the Ball and Miserably Failed Us
Paid $3,500 for absolutely nothing accomplished! Lacked basic knowledge and failed to get it yet charged a fee for nothing but excuses. Charge for reading and sending every email, even though the staff were not well trained to explain important information. Cancelled twice at last minute and was always providing unencouraging depressing hopelessness. Finally dropped me for complaining. THIS IS THE TYPE OF ATTORNEY WE WERE ALL WARNED ABOUT! Complete waste of time and money.
