Justin was thorough and detail oriented through the entire litigation process. His pleadings are always thorough and meticulous attention to detail. He took on a very challenging case and executed with precision and ease as well as fighting multiple times to help me acquire and re-acquire reunification each time it was terminated at no fault of mine. He has obtained extremely favorable results each time we walked into court where other attorneys failed and has not lost a single time, he represented me. He was the final attorney representing my case after one was not able to secure favorable outcomes and the other left the family law practice (Justin came highly recommended from testimonials I read about him and through other attorneys he litigated against) and his staff and entire office continues to have my complete faith and trust as the litigation is about to conclude. He has literally done everything within the bounds of law to fight for my rights to my relationship to my seven children and seen once in 1,368 days, had ensured 109 reunification sessions even when interference impeded me every step of the way he was there to help, he also obtained extremely talented professionals to add to the team of a highly complex case and was able to restore competency within the professionals involved in my case. This continued to ensure a road and path to my children no matter the obstacle. He will represent you with all of his will and might and has phenomenal ethics and a great respect from judges and his fellow attorneys he litigates against. You will not regret obtaining this attorney or anyone within his law firm. Sean Domer and Fred Taylor have stepped in and also executed positive results in my case. I have not had an adverse ruling with Justin Bush since he began working with me in 2019/2020 timeframe and I would not even consider another attorney in the Hampton Roads legal community. We are still in on-going litigation but this case which has spanned over 4 years however it is nearing a conclusion and I have no doubts he will continue to do achieve a final outcome that is positive. He is not an attorney that loses - and ALWAYS puts his clients in advantageous positions -- Following his counsel which is filled with insightful, actionable, and successful direction is a decision YOU WILL NEVER REGRET !!!!! Thank you Justin , Sean, and your entire office. Note** The operational folks, and paralegals - are the most dedicated, kind-, and warm-hearted people a client could ever interact with. You don't just get a dominant attorney you get a dominant law firm from the top down. The strongest and highest endorsement I could come up with. There is a reason he is in the top 1% of his class and has all of the certifications and accreditation. He is the Michael Air Jordan of his field and will bring it home every time.

I came to Mr. Bush in 2019 with a child custody/support case, with Covid things got pushed back many times over the last 2 years. Even through the difficult time he always maintained communication and always was easy to get a hold of anytime I had an issue or questions. He was able to help me so much and fought for me. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Huge Thank you to Mr. bush and his team.

Justin Bush handled my case and he acted like a friend to me. He took my case personally and professionally and helped me in every way possible I didn’t get the outcome I wanted this time but that was not Justin’s fault at all. I know I’ll have to go back to court one day and his number will still be in my phone and the first one I call to stand by my side.

Mr Greene has represented me multiple times with regard to real estate transactions and has always provided excellent legal service. He and his staff (Carrilin and Kathy are wonderful!) kept me informed at all times and he was up to speed on my matters when I called. His fees have always been quite resonable for the great work he does. I highly recommend Mr. Greene!

So, after a rear-end collision that my wife was involved in, I searched out several attorney's and settled on J Bouchard Law. There were several mitigating factors, the highest being personality I would say. Mr. Bouchard seemed knowledgeable and confident and money was not at the top of the list with him, so it seemed. The first order of business (service 1) was a continuance. This was a phone call, nothing more. I did have to chase Mr. Bouchard down to get this information and was up to the last moment in finding out that we did not have to go to court. The second (service 2) order of business was an actual trip to court. Once there, my wife and I noted her name was not on the marquee board, and got very curious. However, no one explained anything so we sat in court. Mr. Bouchard did attend at this time and we all found out court had been re-scheduled. Mr. Bouchard did as I requested and asked that the charges be dismissed as we had taken the time to show up at the appointed time by the state, to no avail. We received the next court date. We took off work again and went to court. (service 3) At the last moment, Mr. Bouchard called and told us (luckily my wife and I were sitting in the car awaiting a closer time to court time) that he was running late and that he had notified court but still, running late. We sat there a bit (35 minutes) and finally, all the cases that were before the judge for that particular officer, were being nolle prosique, meaning, the state was dropping charges (no witnesses, no officer). Now, we had been there fully 45 minutes to an hour, still, we were not there with the attorney. (he still had not arrived) We found out from the judge and the ADA that they were not pursuing the case. okay! We wandered out to the car, talked a bit and then called Mr. Bouchard. He said at that point he was pulling in. I am not sure if he was or not. Never saw him. Long and short, his response was that if this came back up, he would continue his representation based on the fact thus far, had not been needed. I contacted Mr. Bouchard today (June 28, 2017) and asked for a partial refund. His response? In short, he was paid for time and expertise and that had the case gone to court, he would have been there (I question that at this point based on previous demonstration of absence) and regardless of why, we should be happy that we won. I should not expect a refund. What I gather is this: You pay an attorney. You lose those monies regardless of outcome. I agree to a point. I agree that if you're in court, win/lose or draw, you've worked for your money. That the state drops the charges and you don't have to work for your money....that's a little different. Mr. Bouchard is an affable individual with an pretty decent personality. I cannot speak on his courtroom prowess as it was never utilized. I will say that apparently, he must be struggling financially as he is going to get his: win/lose/draw/ show up/ don't show up... I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND, BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH MR. BOUCHARD, TO CONSIDER UTILIZING A [MORE] PROFESSIONAL INDIVIDUAL THAT IS NOT QUITE SO MONEY DRIVEN. We're all in it to make a living, no argument. However....taking money for services never utilized is a little different. I won't say no services were utilized. He did grace us with a phone call (service 1) and a court appearance (service 2). The "professional" side was never tapped (service 3). If you want someone to hang with that seems like he'd be fun in a bar scene or a party, I'd say he's your guy. THINK TWICE BEFORE EMPLOYING HIM AS YOUR ATTORNEY. Not expensive but I would have to classify as cheap. ************************ I WOULD NOT HIRE THIS MAN FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN PARKING CITATIONS.

I hired Mr. Wilder to help me with a few legal things. He drafted a will for me and handled speeding tickets of mine. I am a high maintenance client & called Mr. Wilder a lot while he was my attorney. I was also very specific and sometimes couldn't make up my mind; however Mr. Wilder always remained extremely professional, he always answered my questions via phone calls and emails promptly. He was kind and really knew what he was doing. I couldn't be happier. I hope to never need at attorney again; but in the off chance that I do, I will definitely hire Mr. Wilder again. I recommend that if anyone is looking for an honest, hard working, caring, professional attorney they should look no further than him.

I hired Mr. Wilder for counsel in a civil matter. He failed to take any action against a company using virtual offices and other shady practices. I personally did research finding three different addresses for the company and providing evidence that none of these were legit addresses for the company. We agreed because of the amount of damages we would file in circuit court. He proceeded to file in general district without consulting me. Then he repeatedly asked for continuances without consulting me or advising me of the case status. I paid for process server and he sent the service to each of the 3 addresses I proved were illegitimate addresses. We agreed he would contact the federal agency overseeing the industry with the company's identifying information and ask for federal assistance in prosecuting the individuals at the company for fraud after they stole or broke over $10000 worth of my belongings and violated other industry standards and laws. He never did this and then, without discussing it with me, asked for the case to be dismissed because of an inability to serve the company for the year the case had been open. In summary, I paid good money for nothing. He assured me that the company could be held liable even though they were using virtual offices and he assured me that if proper service was attempted the case could be heard in absentia. Through out the year the case was open and my account was in good standing he rarely communicated with me despite my emails and phone messages asking for updates. At one point I contacted the state bar and they instructed him to contact me or they would be forced to open and ethics review. He contacted me on the last day allotted by the bar then did nothing of what we agreed to go forward with.

I consulted with Mr. Wilder for a traffic matter and he explained all my options. He then obtained the best possible result for me. He was extremely helpful, he always returned my phone calls quickly. After appearing on behalf of me in court, he immediately called me to update me with the result. He also made sure to send me an email later that day. I was extremely happy and satisfied with Mr. Wilder's services and would definitely recommend and refer him to my friends and family should they face legal troubles in the future.

He would ignore my phone calls for up to 3 weeks on MULTIPLE occasions. He is on TikTok and he would ignore me but continuously be uploading ridiculous TikToks. All he wanted to do when we got to mediation was settle for anything the other lawyer offered, he did not care for my children and what was best for them. I got charged for a subpoena of bank accounts and they actually LOST the information to view the bank account statements. Absolutely unprofessional and unreliable. I wasted so much time and over a year. I probably could've been divorced a lot faster with less expense. Going through a divorce as a single mom is one thing, but to also end up wasting money and a year of time made everything extremely tough. Do not waste your time.

He was awful and completely show his @$$ in court. I will spare the details, other than what I think was the funniest aspect of his train wreck of a presentation: During his cross-examination, it was revealed that this guy FORGOT HIS NOTEBOOK!!!! He had no notes and had no idea of the line of questioning that he had prepared (not that his notebook likely contained any profound material). He proceeded to attempt to enlist my help while I was on the stand as he fumbled through what little he was able to recall….all this, while I was on the stand, patiently waiting. Needless to say… if this man is representing you… run. He was a jumbled mess, with an ill-fitting suit… his garbled presentation was an embarrassment to him and his firm.

We had previously retained another lawyer in the firm who has since retired. Obtained Jeanette Ojeda's email address from her receptionist and received an automated reply that she would be out of the office for one more day. Waited one more week for a reply. Nothing. Called the office again to verify that she was practicing and was seeing clients. Receptionist sent her a note with my contact information. Sent a second email detailing my need for a contract review and even offered a retainer if that were a concern. No response. How difficult would it have been to say "I'm busy and can't help"?

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
