I hired Mr. Gayle to put together a for power of attorney for me. He was able to get this done within a couple of days. He was very knowledgeable. Mr. Gayle was able to get it done within the timeframe that I requested. I would definitely hire him for any future legal needs.

Mr. Kauffman was instrumental in our case. Mr. Kauffman assisted and guided us through the medical treatment and represented and provided guidance step by step. He made himself available 24 hours a day with advise or just kind words of encouragements. Mr. Kauffman fought for our case so we can get justice and recompense for our sufferings.

From the beginning he was very honest and to the point (yes, you heard me). We discussed my case and at no point did I have any doubts, I highly recommend. I consulted 2 others before I found Mr. Kaufman and both were just money hungry.

I was involved in a personal injury slip and fall case, It was a complicated case that required a lot of work. The experience we had during this process the last 2 years was by far easier with the knowledge and Guidance of Dan and his team. His attention to detail and professionalism that he showed was outstanding. He treated us more like family then just a client and truly cared. He always went above and beyond our expectations and never gave up and fought till the very end. We couldn’t have asked for a better lawyer and outcome of the case.

DO NOT HIRE ADKINS FAMILY LAW! I was told everything I wanted to hear to be helped with my child support/ visitation case only to have my case notes updated. I Was only given the excuse that she did not have time for my case and good luck finding another attorney after paying $1300, a few emails and 30 min virtual mediation, had this been told to me from the start, I would have used my $1300 elsewhere. if there was 0 stars thats what I would use. Thanks for nothing.

I hired Monal, and over a two year period she charged me and has made absolutely no progress. I paid her $1500+ up front to handle some business. Over the two years she has been very difficult to get ahold of, and not responsive to the majority of my attempts to contact her. Multiple times over the past couple years I have contacted her, and she would always be on vacation. Two years later she has made absolutely NO progress on my case, and I only seem to hear from her once every 6 months, despite my reaching out to her. Plus, each time she contacts me back, she acts helpless as if there is nothing she can do to help me. I contacted her numerous times two months ago, and I have yet to hear from her. I am pretty sure I will not be seeing my money back from her either. If you are looking for a lawyer who will work with you instead of against you, I DO NOT recommend this firm.

I used him on a case where evrything I need to know was on the "county's public records webiste". (I did not know about this website). No leagal action was required. Mr Ruben could have resolved my issue in 10 minutes.... charge me for an hour. INSTEAD he make a $4000 (3000 retainer) law suit out of the problem. He had me "sue" a very sick man to get information, that was already on the county website. When this sick man did not respond, he did not follow through with the case. I was able to resolve my problem on my own, I didn't even need information from the public records. . I did not make further contact with him, because I did not want to give him the rest of the money.

35 years of career and no reviews. I should have read the signs when I looked you up for representation. He is a total embarrassment for the attorneys who performed with high standards. He barely knows the law system. As matter fact the only thing that keeps him alive are the connections in different agencies who he uses and still can not win a case. I would rather represent the case by myself than having this person representing me. He is a total ashamed. 35 years wasted. You know where to contact or call him or find him because he works for several firms. He would do much better in Publix filling up the bags than he does as an attorney. www. Publixjobs.com

I was looking at possible life if I took it to trial and lost. The case was weak, I know I could’ve of won. Long story short, the state offered me 15 years. Maury suggested strongly that I take the 15 yrs or I would get life if we went to trial and lost. He said there was nothing he could do and refused to listen to anything I asked him to regarding any investigations into the details of my case, he was very confrontational and argumentative and cocky. I fired him and my new attorney got me 4 years in prison. Don’t waste your money or your time. This man works with the state against his defendants

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
