She won't do what's right!!! I hired her and it was the worst decision for me and my child. Go elsewhere if you want true results.

Suzanne and her staff are wonderful! She really cares about her clients. A divorce is tricky, at best, and she can only promise to give it all she can. She gave me great advise and offered several solutions. She was also very frugal with her billing and that was so much appreciated. Her staff is also very helpful and make sure Suzznne gets your message or concern. And she WILL respond quickly, not like some attorneys. When it was finally over in court, she gave me a big hug.

I hired Suzanne to represent me in my divorce and from the moment I met her I knew I chose right. She was referred by a friend and for good reason. I felt very uneasy about the whole process (obviously) but Suzanne always had a way of putting me at ease. She always made me feel better and was always very forward and honest. I would recommend her to anyone I talk to. I am very pleased with the outcome of my case and look forward to working with her more in the future if needed.

Justin is very professional and thorough in his work. He communicates all options and possible challenges openly and realistically from the beginning. He engaged consistently through the process, and never left me wondering where we were in the process. His pricing is reasonable and fair. Would give 10 stars if I could.

This is Patti Zamarron. I went to the EEOC about racial, disability, age, ethnicity issues occurring at the store that I used to work at. I now work at a different store. I now have a letter from EEOC stating I have 90 days to seek an attorney. I have a lot of validation. Videos, taped reprimandings, 8-10 witnesses, documents that have false information and taped phone calls. Can you handle this huge situation. It is with Kroger. I need help and advice. I am 64 years old, female, Hispanic, disabled in a wheelchair 90% of the time. I feel the EEOC did not take it seriously every time I tried to send them letters I never received any responses. I told them I have much more verification and validation and the EEOC counselor Miss Blackshear never would help me download it. Please consider this I am a very intelligent woman with a masters degree. I know how to speak. And I know how to represent. Patti Zamarron 9919 Mulberry Park Lane Tomball, TX 77375 Cell 832/687-4090

Tom Austin handled the guardianship case from r our special needs daughter. He was very informative and told us exactly what we needed to do. He was ALWAYS available to answer and questions and even remarks need us of her follow up a year later. He even paid to file a court document out of his own pocket because we didn’t have the cash on hand. Although it was just a small fee and we paid him right back, I can’t imagine any other attorney doing that! He is professional and personable. We felt like he genuinely cared about our daughter and her case. We will always be appreciate of what Tom Austin has done for our family !!!

This attorney is nothing less than a horrible excuse for the legal profession. He never returns calls nor does he ever keep you informed of your case or court dates. He is the worst ever. This profile claims he is a real estate attorney, however he practices family law, he is an attorney ad litem for children, he is a criminal attorney. He represented me in a case in regards to my oldest child and yet a year prior he was the ad litem attorney for my younger children where he recommended the outcome to be in favor of the plaintiff!! Needless to say I lost both cases. I reported him to the State Bar of Texas, and my complaint made it to the disciplinary committee. His response was full of lies and falsification of documentation...even his response was full of fabrication. I would advise anyone that if you are looking for an attorney that will be in your best interest....look for a different attorney because this man is not a good attorney at all!!!!

Did not move forward. Fee was higher ($125) for initial consult than I was comfortable with. Firm called me later to schedule after I indicated I’d call them. Aggressive marketing. Sent red flag.

Honestly can't believe this guy has a license. Called me every name in the book the day before court and told me to file a grievance on him! He has all original docs for our case and text me telling me to contact state bar if i needed to contact him. Paid a retainer never went to court. Michael R. Bouman told me he would return our money for us to use it to find another attorney then five minutes later said he was not returning our money. Unprofessional would be a kind way of putting it

Don't use this lawyer. He doesn't handle things in a timely manner. His communication stinks and the list of negatives are long. Shame someone with a license this long doesn't do what he says or handle things in a timely manner. He decided to pursue another case in the the middle of handling ours and has left us hanging for over a month. NO COMMUNICATION. We just want to finalize our case, collect our money and pay our exuberant bill.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
