Excellent attorney that I can not recommend highly enough with a friendly, professional and efficient staff. We are beyond happy with the settlement he was able to get for us and have had referred our closest friends who had great results as well. Mr. diDonato made a bleak, messy situation bearable and took a huge load off our shoulders. We were certainly lucky to have found him.

GREAT ATTORNEY !!!! I had a case that hasn't been in the courts too often. My daughter would not let me see my grandchildren, so I had to file a suit against her to get visitation. I went to one attorney before I engaged Mr. Hayes. The first attorney didn't seem too knowledgeable and I am so happy I found Donald. This was really an uphill battle because the few cases that there were didn't always have successful endings. Donald had a thorough knowledge of the different courts and which judges would be sympathetic to our case. We change court houses to get the right judge and we won our case. Mr. Hayes is a complete professional, everything was done in a timely manner and was always fair in his billing. I would highly, highly recommend Mr. Hayes if you have a need for a family law or bankruptcy attorney. I just can't say enough good things about him.

I recently hired attorney Francisco M Zavala to represent me in my contested divorce and custody case in Chatsworth Court. My wife assaulted me in front of our children. I hired attorney Zavala to request a domestic violence restraining order. I was concerned that the courts would not believe me, as a male, could be the victim of domestic violence. However, attorney Zavala did an incredible job. He subpoenaed arrest reports, 911 call recordings, and even had the officer who responded to the initial call testify in court My wife hired a lawyer who tried portraying me as the abuser. However, attorney Zavala did such an amazing job during his direct examination and presentation of our evidence that the judge did not believe anything my wife testified to. Attorney Zavala destroyed the credibility of my wife in his closing argument. In the end, the judge saw that my wife was the abuser, and granted my request for a domestic violence, restraining order with sole legal custody and sole physical custody to me. I am willing to work things out with my wife and allow her visitation. However, I also believe that a victim of domestic violence should not have to tolerate physical abuse, and I hope that one day soon to be ex-wife can get better through counseling. I highly recommend Attorney Zavala.

Francisco Zavala is currently on the run with my son and his mother as of August 23 2020 Mr. Zavala started off as my ex-wife’s Attourney and is now and has been personally involved with her for the past 5 years. After his client filed a move away order and it was denied and set for trial she then filed a restraining order which was granted temporarily but move away order was denied they decided to go against the court orders and move anyway . On January 30 2020 superior court of California, county of Los Angeles family division Chatsworthth dept - f46 ordered : The court finds good cause and orders sanctions against attorney Francisco Zavala pursuant to family code section 271 in the amount of $5,650.00 and an additional $5,000 for unprofessional and unbecoming conduct. Attourney Francisco Zavala and petitioner, Christina Segura our orders to jointly and severally pay sanctions in the amount total of $10,650

I would highly recommend you look elsewhere for your legal needs, if my experience is any indication of this law firm’s professionalism and competency. I reached out to Donahue, Young & Williams after finding them via Google, reviewing Yelp reviews, and checking out their website. Everything seemed fine. I had an initial intake call where I explained my situation and what I was generally looking for. I promptly received a legal services agreement, signed it, sent over the agreed upon deposit, and also took the time to compile relevant documentation, as requested by Kaylee. By promptly, I mean within three days. Kaylee and Sherry nearly immediately confirmed receipt of payment and documents, and all seemed well - I was confident that I was dealing with a professional and attentive law firm, and looked forward to getting robust advice. I expected this in a relatively timely fashion, as discussed and confirmed during my initial call. 2+ weeks, and 5 calls/emails later, I emailed to ask if someone could take just a few minutes to write back and give me a sense of when I should expect any feedback/insight/etc. This was a relatively simple landlord/tenant issue, and I’d provided well organized information for their review. Taylor Williams-Moniz, the attorney assigned to my case, emailed me, claiming that her office had called me several times (they had not), and tersely stating that though I wanted an email (I actually just wanted a response rather than radio silence), she needed to have a phone call. I wrote back confirming my phone number and asking if she could ensure they’d been calling me as I had to record of said calls, and also suggested a five hour window of availability for the next business day. No response. I had to follow up again in order to get a response from her legal assistant. To make a long and frustrating story short, Taylor Williams-Moniz was very nice when I spoke to her, but couldn’t adhere to deadlines she herself set. Melody Dosch was unfortunately not much more helpful than Taylor - and in general I found the law firm to be not extremely well versed on the law (in one instance, Melody told me she would have to get back to me as to whether my unit was covered under a common law that I was able to discover as a layperson, and which should be been considered in the legal advice granted prior to my question), then proceeded to go on vacation and refuse to put her perspective in writing until I followed up repeatedly and insistently. Mark Younger was also very nice, but also totally missed a call we had scheduled with no prior notice. I also never felt like they advocated for my position or were particularly proactive and believe they misrepresented my actions to my landlord’s counsel (to my detriment). And obviously, I really didn’t appreciate having to agitate for a response from them over and over again. I’d strongly recommend you look elsewhere, as it seems they have a burgeoning habit of playing attentive to get clients to sign, and then deteriorate from there. I also have strong questions on their expertise (at least on landlord/tenant issues) and have some ethical questions about their willingness to give advice without a seemingly thorough understanding of applicable laws.

I hired attorney Francisco Zavala to handle my divorce case in Chatsworth Court. My ex husband refused to work things out and hired a nasty unethical lawyer. Mr. Zavala worked very hard on my case. He answered my calls the majority of the time. When he was unavailable, all my calls were returned the same day. Mr. Zavala didn’t charge me for every little phone call or email like some other lawyers do. Mr. Zavala was genuinely interested in getting me justice instead of just making money. Mr. Zavala never stopped working on my case. Attorney Zavala is honest, hard working, experienced and aggressive. I won my case, and received the custody orders that were in the best interest of our children. My ex husband is a bully and a wife abuser, but with Mr. Zavala by my side, the bully got put in his place. Thank you attorney Zavala.

I hired Mr. Zavala based off of a friends recommendation and i couldn’t be more pleased with the results. My case was very complex as it involved my two younger children which i was fighting for FULL custody. Without getting into too much detail, my case started out for a quick custody battle as i was fighting against an unfit father figure. However, my case quickly turned into a long ongoing trial. Mr. Zavala showed no hesitation to continue working on my case even given the new complications. He never raised my rates and even made it a point to connect with me on a more personal level rather than just my Divorce Attorney. I’m really glad my friend reccommended him, i couldn’t have asked for a better lawyer.

Mormon. Uses church affiliation to scout for elderly patriarchs to shop his service to. That's how he found my parents. Like many a modern man, my father was a lifelong atheist who found church just in time for his final reckoning. Convenient, no? Anyway... As a beneficiary, i found huffaker to be a bit of ...haffuker, lol - unresponsive, disinterested and utterly shiftless when i was compelled to bring pertinent issues to his attention. Just to speak with him, I'd first have to leave him voicemail - he would never take my call directly. I suppose he was just trying to appear busy & in- demand, but that appeared highly dubious. U can Forget about catching him still office- bound after 4pm. Honestly, my heart goes out to his office girl for constantly covering for him. When i finally DID hear back, it always felt like it was taxing him or putting him out. Worst of all, after going thru all the hassle simply to speak with him only to then feel like i was talking to a wall, he would prove I'd done just that by doing absolutely NIL about ANY of the valid legal concerns I'd explicitly brought to his attention! Inexcusable. If that's the kind of lawyer ur looking for, no judgment. After all, crappy, out to lunch lawyers need clients to finance their cozy lifestyles, too. I think if all u need is a simple will drafted and nothing more, & u have no more than a single heir, this guy will probably suffice. Then again, in that case, u'd probably do just as well to file ur docs urself with an online attorney & not waste the money & time on an arrogant attorney who's just another average lazy lawyer under all the pretense. In the end, I gave up on him & hired more professional counsel to have my concerns adequately addressed. He was just a waste of time and money. For these reasons, i DO NOT recommend him to anyone.

Stay away from Peter diDonato! He is the worst attorney of all time. Didn't help me, help the other side. I had 3 surgeries because I was attacked by a dog at a customer's house. The Dog bite me in The Groin area twice. [Redacted] here is my surgery on YouTube. The jury awarded me $20,000 for pain and suffering and another $20,000 for future pain and suffering claim medical bills totaled $50,000. Do the math. In addition of that he told me he collected his attorney's fees. Our contract States that I get 66% yeah I got nothing except the pain and suffering. I believe this is corruption at the deepest core.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of working with Michael Finley on a legal matter regarding visitation rights and child support with my daughter. Initially, I was hopeful as he appeared attentive during our initial interview. However, once he received the retainer fee, the level of service plummeted drastically. Communication was virtually nonexistent after the initial meeting. I found myself unable to reach him when I had questions or concerns about my case. This lack of responsiveness resulted in a missed court date, which had serious consequences for my case. Furthermore, Michael Finley failed to advise me adequately about potential legal ramifications, such as the possibility of being held responsible for the opposing party's attorney fees. I was blindsided by unexpected fees and expenses that were not disclosed upfront. What's most egregious is that Michael Finley violated our agreement regarding the retainer fee. We had agreed that he would notify me if the retainer was about to run out, so I could make an informed decision about continuing his services. However, I was shocked to receive a bill for $25,000, far exceeding what we had initially discussed. The agreement that he had written had been worded to favor his interest. He took advantage of my lack of legalese. Overall, my experience with Michael Finley was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I felt misled, ignored, and taken advantage of. I would strongly advise anyone considering his services to proceed with caution and ensure that all agreements are documented in writing. While I cannot recommend Michael Finley based on my experience, I must emphasize that my intention is not to threaten or defame him in any way. Rather, I hope that my feedback serves as a cautionary tale for others and encourages Michael Finley to reconsider his practices and prioritize the needs of his clients in the future. Sincerely, Christopher Wright

This attorney is the most unprofessional attorney we have ever encountered. He yells and belittles his clients, not to mention he hangs up on you as a client if he feels you challenge him. We have been working with him for 6 months with no resolution to our case at all. He is non responsive and does not follow up. We have had to track him down to find out the status of our case. His behavior is very unprofessional and we have encountered this multiple times since we hired him.

I met with him for a free consultation as I was desperate, destitute and in great need of legal advice. He was so clear and neat on his advice and explanations but most of all it his generosity what amazed me the most as he spent all the necessary time to make sure I was clear about my situation. He spent over an hour of his time at no charge. There are no many attorneys left like him.

I have to disagree with the negative reviews on here. I hired Mr. Pinsky to handle my divorce. He was extremely knowledgeable, and thorough. He was very clear about the expectations of my case, and I ended up with a great settlement. Even after the divorce was finalized and other issues came up, Rand was always available to take my calls or answer my emails. Just recently we had to go back to court over alimony, and thanks to Rand, I ended up getting twice the amount the ex wanted to pay. I found him to be very professional, patient, and organized and would not hesitate to refer to him to friends.

I hired Rand Pinsky concerning child support issue. This was the worst mistake I had ever made. He didn't have any ambition for helping me in my case and no concern for my young daughter. He just agreed with the plaintiff's lawyer ; be never tried to fight for me at all. I would of been much better off representing myself, I trusted him to do a good job for me; instead he talked me into signing to agree with plaintiff with out myself fulling understand what he was convincing me to do. Needless to say now my young child and I are struggling much worse since child support was decreased by 50%. I fired Pinsky soon after that ; then he refused to return the remainder of my retainer deposit. Before I started using him as my lawyer I asked about if I don't use all the money in retainer for his services -I will be reimbursed for the unused amount and he said ,yes ! But lied, he said he won't reinburse the unused money after all. He tried avoiding all my calls and hanging up on me. His secretary apparently was told to ignore all my calls, also. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company just to get my money back. Avoid this lawyer so you don't have to experience what I had to. He will act friendly to you at first, but he only wants easy money, he doesn't care about his customers well being at all. Please don't be fooled by his lies, he'll only make things worse for you if you hire him. I hope that anyone that reads this review will not hire Rand Pinsky -

This attorney has not responded to our questions regarding our son's case. We have repeatedly called, e-mailed, and texted to no avail. We were asked to provide certain documents to present for his court appearance relating to his stability and bond yet he has failed to return our call. Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
