Joel is AMAZING! I hired him for an expungement and he made the process of expunging my record smooth, easy, and quick. He not only expunged the charge but also the ticket that was thrown out alongside the charge for no additional cost without me even asking. I did a phone consult and completed all of the paperwork. Was advised that a personal injury lawsuit that had not yet been determined would not need to be included because they were no funds for settlement yet. To me, not knowing the law, that made sense because we're only looking at debt and income and ability to pay at that time. I found out a few years later I was incorrectly advised by attorney Tillman. I have reached out multiple times but she is on leave. Now the settlement is tied up because the bankruptcy has to be reopened which is much more expensive than filing an original bankruptcy. And when I went to court, I was expecting her as she had not said that she was not going to attend . And a young man represented me in court from the office . It wasn't the fact that it was another person, just not that I had been privy to that information . Very disappointed

WARNING - DO NOT USE - I don’t normally write reviews but this one I’m doing because I wish someone had told me. I’ve have actually filed a complaint with the VA State Bar. I paid in October 2017 for an easy divorce as we had a prenup. She finally told me in March that I would have my papers in 4 to 6 weeks - the word “guaranteed” was said several times, which stood out because nobody, let alone an attorney, would say that. Now comes August & she finds out we need affidavits. Stating she and the opposing attorney didn’t think they would need them. I don’t know who the opposing attorney is because he didn’t have one. She will call so it shows unknown caller that goes straight to voicemail and will then deny she did that. Still no divorce. Use at your own risk now.

I thought I would have a great experience with this law office, but almost every time I would get in touch with the office, it took forever to have my case worked on. Any action on my case was so delinquent, that I was offered a small refund, which I feel is a great P.R. gesture.
One month ago, I was told "the check is in the mail". I emailed this exact statement recently to the office, and I still have not heard back.
The continuous delays and excuses really turned me off. Very disappointed is an understatement.

She was my attorney for over two years. I really feel I did most of the work and she charged me for it. I was never charged paralegal rates for simple tasks or quick emails, she always charged me her full rate. She and her paralegal were incompetent when it came to navigating basic google drive etc. I had entire drive prepared myself with folders of evidence and information and neither of them could navigate it. Plenty of times she was unprofessional towards me, the opposing counsel and the judge. She often made me feel uncomfortable or stupid for asking questions about my own case or proceedings. On one occasion she called me an hour before our big trial claiming to have "lost" all the documents and requesting I bring all my own copies. She was then late to that trial, annoying the judge. During the trial she let the opposing counsel talk circles around her. It wasn't until I no longer used her services and did the continuing litigation on my own that I started actually getting the results I desired and began avoiding unnecessary or prolonged litigation. If you are searching for a legit attorney who will work FOR YOU I strongly recommend you hire someone other than Rita Ros-Planas.

I have been working with Mr. Kole Donaldson. After having experiences with too many lawyers in the Hampton Roads area over the last few years. I’ve seen a wide range of lawyers, some have really gone to bat for me and my family, others did a disservice to my family. I’ve had a great experience thus far with Mr. Donaldson. I hired Michelle to help my boyfriend out with a bond amend. I paid $500 to have this done. She NEVER requested to have a bond amend added to the docket . We live out of state , I hired her on a Monday & DIDNT hear anything unless I texted her. She ignored the calls. She only texted me 2 times. Met with my boyfriend for 20 minutes . Her excuse was they have to send the file to the DA. I contacted the DA and JDRC and they said that is not true; it can be heard by the judge same day. I informed her in a text that I spoke with JDRC & the DA and what they said and she told me I never spoke with anyone . I told her I was letting her go because she has done absolutely nothing and I was hiring another lawyer. She only refunded me $218. Took the remaining out of the $500 for a 20 minute visit & two texts she sent. I let her go on Thursday and hired someone else. My new lawyer got my boyfriends bond amend & arraignment on the docket the next day & he’s now on his way back home. This attorney is a joke . First time I spoke with her you can hear her smoking and blowing out the smoke while on the phone. Completely unprofessional. To top it all off, there was nothing signed between her & I. I will be reporting her & I hope no one else uses her. She WILL waste your money.

All these negative reviews are reflected off of attorney Mapp not her staff. She was always late for appointments and when the client would call to get an update she would want them to get on the calendar just to speak to her and then would end up not being able to keep that appointment. It's deplorable how she ran that office!!! It's a wonder she's able to keep anybody working for her because she takes full advantage of the employees that stay for an extended period of time and goes through them like a roll of toilet paper.

This place does not do what you paid them to do. Actually, they take their sweet time. She makes excuses but I don't care. You have my payment in full. If you can't do your job offer my money back and let me move on. But that would be too much like right. Over a year later and I am still in limbo. There are never updates unless you hound the office. They wait weeks to tell you other items are needed and you still only find that out after you hound them for an update. A simple matter that should be done already.

Hiring Ms. Mapp as your attorney in a civil matter is equivalent to going to a used car dealership on the turnpike and getting a 10 year old car for 25% interest.
She does not advocate for you, she or her staff does not respond or complete tasks. When asked about the status of the case that should have been completed months ago, she states that the case is not a priority. She submits incomplete files to the court with no follow up and expects the client to know what to do. Lawyers are hired to SUBMIT COMPLETED files to the court.
I do not recommend hiring this lawyer unless you want to deal with disrespect and incompetence from her or her staff.
She prolongs cases so that she can continue to get paid.

I got an advertisement letter in the mail among many. I got many quotes but to me I feel like I hit the jackpot with Sidney Kelsey. First, all of the other letters seemed threatening and made me uncomfortable. I called Mr. Kelsey's office because his letter was very genuine, second, he was understanding and realistic about my case. His fees were so reasonable and so I decided to go with him. I wasn't able to make it the first time to court so he got me a continuance. When the date came he got it dismissed and I am such a happy person thanks to him, in my opinion people who complain about their attorneys do not follow their advice, that's what they are there for!

Darrell Harding took on our very complex case that had been ongoing for years. I wish we had contacted him first; he is absolutely amazing and knows the law very well. I regret to inform that my experience with The Coastal Virginia Law Firm Of Brook M. Thibault P.C. was profoundly disappointing and lacked the professional rigor one would expect. Engaging Mr. Thibault as my attorney, I anticipated a robust advocacy for my interests. Unfortunately, the reality was a hurried and disjointed process that led to a custodial agreement deeply unsatisfactory to my needs—one that was not only settled without my prior consent but also executed without my signature.
The lack of communication was a significant issue throughout the process, exacerbated by the non-cooperation of the opposing party. Despite these challenges, the expectation was that my legal representation would navigate these complexities with professional diligence. Instead, there was a premature rush to resolution, evidenced by Mr. Thibault’s unilateral decisions to sign off on agreements and letters without my input.
This approach not only compromised my legal standing but also resulted in substantial financial loss without achieving the desired legal outcomes. To those considering this firm’s services, I urge thorough research and consideration of other testimonials. The experience served as a stark reminder of the critical importance of selecting a legal representative who is thoroughly committed to their client’s interests and communicative every step of the way.

I recently received a notice from a collections agency, which was contracted by a local municipality. They claim I owe back taxes on a car I purchased about six years ago. I called David after talking to several local area attorneys who were unable or unwilling to help. David was empathetic the entire phone call and went well beyond anything I was expecting. He, without being prompted, found the statutes - the source of the unpaid taxes - and explained them in a straightforward way. Additionally, he counseled me on some strategies to either pay a reduced amount or avoid the expense altogether. While I'm still negotiating with the collections agency and the city that hired them, I know I will reach a more satisfactory solution after my conversation with David.

Mr. Bastiaans is skilled at complicating, prolonging and bloating tasks to benefit the billable hours charged. Communication was consistently inconsistent and often statements made were not executed. An example, billing for services rendered would be issued monthly, but at the end of month one, it was changed to quarterly, which was again changed to end of the month following the previous quarter. Four months of billing charges accrued before a client is made aware of cost seems unreasonable. Not someone I would recommend or trust to manage my family’s estate.

Anna Clark Sas was a godsend for my family! Our son for filed custody for his infant son after it was proven mom suffered from mental illness and stated she didn’t want baby. I was told that Virginia was a mom favored state when it came to fathers getting custody. Anna took the time to review all documents and there were many over the course of many many months (almost 2 years) and no shows from mom. She got my son more than we even imagined. If there zero star I will choose it. Ms. Hadley good in sending you invoice but not a good fighter. She charged me 61,000 in 8 months. Lost all my cases with her. The ironic thing that my ex sign a prenuptial contract to pay all the legal fees. When the judge saw the way she charges me he ordered that my ex pay 25000 only cause she changed me in ridiculous way my ex attorney send someone to retake a document from Hadley office she charged me 200 dollars. After all of this the judge give her one week to finish the divorce decree she is behind 4 weeks now. I had physical custody from the beginning then the ex file to have the custody 50/50 she could not keep the full custody for me and he wins. I have been I full time mother since my kids born my son is 10 years now. She could not help me to have full spouse support and the judge imputed my spouse support 17.50 per hour. I am asking her to give a hard copy from my orders her office refuses to help me and prepare this for me to pick up. After the judge ordered to close the case after one week from the trial she is behind 4 weeks and I called several times to set deadline with her to close the case and she does not want to give a deadline and he does not want to close the case. Every month she was charging me from 7 to 10 thousand dollars. I do not know how to say that but when she talks in the court judge does not consider her talk. Not strong fighter. Something also I did not like she charged me all this money and in the court she does not talk too much infront of the judge. Every time she was talking to the judge she talks about 5 minutes. The ex attorney was talking and reading from papers. The performance so weak, the invoices huge.
Update: now they decree is not entered yet, so Ms Hadley had 25000 to be paid by the ex. So, what they do Ms. Hadley and the other attorney of the ex black mail me that if I do not sign the deeds of the houses they will not enter the decree in the court and when I said I am not going to sign the deed till he refinance the house under my name they said ok we will enter the decree tomorrow. Consulting other attorney, they said it is black mail. Gathering with my ex against me so he pays her the balance. After I called her and I said to her you are black mail me you and the ex attorney, answer was you do not have to sign now the deeds. Really, I have been told if I do not sign the deeds they will not send the decree to the court and they will take me to the court. Too much money and poor service.
Update: the receptionist is the most disrespectful person you will meet in the Virginia beach law offices. She is discriminator. Second, after all of this experience and charges Ms. Hadley saying that she worked for free. Also, the decree that has been sent to the court to be signed was rejected by the the office of the judge cause it has a list of corrections that she has to correct so the judge has to sign it. This decree has to be finished in beginning of my now we are 30th of june.
Update: here is the result she does not want to finish the case and the divorce decree. The ex does not want to Pay the child support and spouse support and she does not do any thing for that. She does not care about me or my kids and I do not know why she wants to stay in my life. She just send invoices. I am telling ms. Hadley the ex did not pay the support, she answered back ( go find a job). Wow
Update: now we are about to be in August and Ms. Hadley does not want to finish up my divorce decree and she said that she will keep sending me invoices as long as the case opened and I want to close the case and have my decree. I think she keeps the case opened to keep charging me. I am asking here when she will finish the divorce decree her answer is she does not know

I hired Mr. Sullivan for custody visitation and child support case let’s just say he talks a good game to get your money as time goes by he does not respond to your emails or calls I would not recommend this attorney. I paid $2500 my results are worse than when we started I don’t have visitation with my child anymore I feel like he was a waste of money shop around.

I came to Mr. Mettler with my child custody case. As a client of his and single mother of 2 small children, I highly recommend him. All good attorneys are very busy but he always came through as needed. Not only is he well knowledgeable about the law, he was always compassionate and empathetic to my situation. I would strongly suggest that anyone going thru a divorce to seek counsel ANYWHERE else than hiring David Mettler as your attorney. After over a year and close to ten thousand dollars later, no progress has been made. He is consistently at least 45 minutes late to every appointment as well as unable to ever call you at all when you've made a phone conference. He will and continued to go around your wishes to extend a case just to bill you more and rack up your legal fees. He is extremely arrogant for someone who clearly knows minimal in divorce cases. Do yourself a service and hire any other attorney other than David Mettler.

No matter what the case I know he will do his BEST. I just had 2 federal charges, which were 2 felonies. He had one completely dismissed and the other which was dropped down to a misdemeanor, and unsupervised probation. I couldn't ask for anything better when I was looking at 1 year minimum for one of my charges and 10 years on another charge. Please do your research, and if you are looking for someone is 100% straight forward with you and will let you know right off the bat what his suggestion is, I would go with Jason Dunn. He definitely helped me out more than I could ever ask for! He's very professional and I can bet you he would give you your best deal in the court of law. Good Luck!!!

My company hired Mr. Dunn to handle a time sensitive business transaction, all of the communications were with his paralegal. Each time I called regarding the status of my petition I was told that Mr. Dunn was handling a Federal case and was unavailable. The only communication I received directly from Mr. Dunn was an email stating that he was terminating his engagement. In our industry petitions are usually filed with 24-72 hours, it took his office nearly a month to file a petition, once a petition was filed the petition included several careless mistakes. When I asked his paralegal about the mistakes she would not respond. My calls to Mr. Dunn went unanswered, when I emailed him letting him know that I am about to lose the customer and incur damages due to the delay he let me know that I should find another attorney. He also said that I did not provide sufficient information regarding a change to a Virginia statute, when I asked what exact information I did not provide he would not answer.

The only efficient thing about this firm is the receptionist. Communication is sorely lacking and your amount will be much less than suggested, and not because of lawyer fees, but because they will forget to file a bill sent to them. They cost me $2,800 of my own money. From a suggested amount to my pocket of $7,000 to $10,000 down to $2,000 after almost a year. This was from a total loss accident, not at fault, with emergency room visit, x-rays, and months of Physical Therapy and lost wages. I would have made more money taking pain medication and going back to work full-time than following this attorney's plan.
I cannot recommend a different accident attorney more. For your sake, please seek other representation.
