My husband and I used to rent out our in-law (garage level) apartment and were being sued by our former tenant. She had not paid rent on the apartment for at least a year and we had no knowledge of how the legal system in San Francisco operated so we had no choice but to get a lawyer and take the apartment off the marker in order to make the tenant move out. The tenant fully intended on living in our home for free for the rest of her life and so sued us for evicting her. As of today the case is closed and I can say that Alex is the most knowledgeable and supportive lawyer I have ever met. We had spoken to and gotten advice from several other lawyers, and Alex was the only one to make us feel comfortable throughout this process. He is a great communicator, patient, made us feel calm, and I could contact him about our situation anytime of the day. Often times looking at legal paperwork is confusing, but Alex helped us understand what was happening at all times. Alex gave us advice and took us through complicated matters such as working with our home-owners insurance- something other lawyers had advised against but ended up saving us a lot of money. He was thorough, trustworthy, confident, and supportive, and we cannot thank Alex enough! He went above and beyond and is the best lawyer I could have asked for.

• Mary Grace helped me with my Moral Character application and I could not have asked for someone better. Regardless of the outcome she helped achieve (which was positive) she was helpful and informative every step of the way. Important things that many attorneys often overlook are very simple: responsive to emails, and receptive to suggestions. Mary Grace was both of these. Johanna came highly recommended. She was able to help us (rookies to the Juvenile court system) understand the process, the probable road blocks, and the players. She was able to level set our expectations. She collaborates and listens well. But, what was most amazing was to see her in action in court. She could hear a case citation and "on the fly" find an offsetting case to present to the Court. She has a deep understanding of juvenile case law.

We were referred to Johanna Kwasniewski by a trusted lawyer that had worked with her partner. We own a commercial building that has about 40 leases in place at any given time, plus other Homeowner's Association matters that we deal with. She has handled about half a dozen different cases for us over the last year, ranging from evictions to settling monetary disputes with commercial tenants and other Homeowner Association matters. She has handled all of them efficiently, to our benefit, and so far not once have we needed to go to court (although that will likely happen...what are the odds?). We have been very pleased with her services, and highly recommend her.

My wife and I was in his office yesterday, 03/07/2016 for his help to resolve a problem in transferring one of our personal account into our existing Family Trust created created by Mr. Nearon Sr. 19 years ago. This Trust is in it's second Restatement created by Mr. M. Franklin Parrish who made it very confusing with heaps of legalese jargon. The Financial company cannot understand this second restatement whether we have 3 Family Trusts and which one shall we transfer our personal account ( Original Family Trust, Restatement Family Trust or Second Restatement Family Trust). I called Mr. Parrish for help about the problem and he refused to listen to problem and will not allow me to talk. I beg him to listen and he hang up. He emailed me a solution which is not even slightly related to the problem and emailed me a very nasty accusations on the way I talked. I gave my own solution to the Financial company. 2 weeks later Financial Co. transferred the account and asked if the Trust's name with minor change to my solution is OK. I called Mr. Nearon Jr. for help and he agreed to what the Financial Co. did. Now my wife and I can breath with relief.

First, I'll let you know that I am a legal secretary, and have worked with lawyers since 1977. We chose Craig Judson to handle our estate planning on a referral from the Mt. Diablo Legal Professionals Association. We went to Craig to create a living trust or will. He listened to us and took notes on our lives, children, possessions, etc., and then he thoroughly explained our options, and why he felt a living trust would be in our best interests. When the documents were ready, he explained everything we needed to do to convert accounts, the house, etc., to the trust, and it came with a detailed letter which also explained everything. His office made transferring the title on our home to the trust extremely easy. We also now have durable power of health care because of Craig, as well. We know that when we die everything will be taken care of. Our children have his business card, and they just need to contact him, and he will help them and take care of everything. It is easy to see why the Mt. Diablo Legal Professionals Association named him Boss of the Year a few years ago. We highly recommend him.

I have been the executor of several estates that required complex guidance by an experienced professional. Two of these cases concerned deaths in California, but assets that were held out of state. Mr. Jacobus was a thoughtful listener, fair-minded, and cautioned me against spending more money in litigation than the estate's value. He was extremely accurate as to the nature of the law, the legal filings required, and the actuality of what could be proven in court. He kept me informed every step of the way, making sure I had copies of all filings, correspondence, research, etc. When a different professional specialty was required (i.e., forensic accounting) he found a reputable firm to conduct the research. His communication skills are excellent, in court and in person. Probate matters can be very tangled and upsetting; Mr. Jacobus handles these emotionally charged issues competently, and with empathy. I have been present as he explained painful facts to elderly clients. He was able to deliver unhappy news with grace and patience, to help a relative understand that a will written by their spouse created a very complicated trust that benefitted more than one person.
I have recommended Jay to several friends and co-workers, who were in need of legal representation. All of them have been satisfied with his professionalism, his knowledge, and his determination to give his best on the behalf of his client.
None of us think we will ever need a lawyer. However, modern life is very complex; the laws we make to protect our civility reflect that complexity. There are many considerations when dealing with estates, either one's own, or on the behalf of a beloved friend or relative. As I have gotten older, I have actually needed more legal assistance, since I have been named as an executor several times. I wanted to do my best, to honor my friends' confidence in my ability to carry out their wishes after death. In this respect, Mr. Jacobus has been invaluable counsel.

I called my cousin, a prominent Houston real estate attorney to see if he would handle a 1031 Like Kind Exchange for a client. He gave me Ms. De Martini's name and phone number. She was always available to answer my questions, and she made VERY sure we crossed all of the Ts and dotted the Is. A month after doing a 1031 Exchange with Ms. De Martini, I took a tax course from a very famous New York tax attorney. When he went over the mechanics of a 1031 Like Kind Exchange, he made a mistake in his procedure. I would have never caught his mistake, had I not questioned Ms. De Martini and had her answer on this particular procedure. I have several cousins that are attorneys and I am a CPA.

A group of neighbors found Allan through this website when we had only 30 days to file a lawsuit against the City of Napa for an approval of multifamily project (Alexander Crossing) over into single family zoning. He accomplished this within the deadline. Allan represented us very professionally and negotiated a stay which forced the developer to reapply and perform an EIR.
