I haven't had a ticket in over 20 years! The office receptionist was very cordial and helpful as I was seeking information. After explaining my traffic ticket in Evesham, she Explained how I would need to defend myself in order to get points removed, without an attorney. The insurance co. Ladies said they highly recommended I get the points removed or I would have increased insurance fees for the next 5 years. I chose to hire Lou. He was kind, patient and thorough explaining the system, and what to expect in court. He explained his plan, the hoped for outcome, and expected court fees. He was successful and I was sooo relieved!! Thank you Lou!!

Jessica is very knowledgeable about the divorce process from aspects related to how it impacts the family and how she could help me achieve what I wanted. I was in a situation where I was not allowed to see my son alone without my ex spouse being present. Jessica made sure that legally we were able to achieve something that was a drastic improvement in my time with him. On the financial side, Jessica was very careful and meticulous in making sure that the financial impact would be as minimal as possible (i was the primary earner so it was about minimizing the damage).. She was also wary of the cost of litigation and tried to minimize unnecessary expenses. When it came to face to face negotiations, she was sharp, tough and practical. She made sure that I didn't do anything during the process and trip myself up. It was a very emotional time and she made sure to keep me informed as to what I should expect and a realistic timeline for a conclusion to the process. As my subject line states, she definitely is competent and professional.

It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend Richard S Nichols, Stanley W Kallmann, and Elizabeth A Compton at Weiner Law Group for their outstanding performance in representing me for a personal injury case. Overwhelmed and wondering how to best proceed with my injuries, Mr. Kallmann recommended Mr. Nichols for his expertise in personal injuries. Mr. Nichols worked diligently to investigate all potential avenues forward, and recommend a legal path to navigate my situation, maximizing financial results, while minimizing impact on me. He continuously informed his partners and me of the updated status of my case, and his group was always aware of what was being proposed or required further discussion. Mr. Nichols is a remarkable hands-on, detail oriented lawyer. He identified and acquired all the important medical documents and videos; and with efficient perseverance, he negotiated insurance liens placed on my account. Mr. Nichols legal knowledge, dependable follow up, negotiating skills, and reliable communication style were absolutely incredible. He knows exactly how to get an awesome personal injury settlement. Mr. Nichols and the Weiner Law Group have an extensive group of lawyers that know how to get amazing results. I feel privileged to have Mr. Nichols, a partner, and his group to represent me.

If I could leave negative stars for this firm, I would. This law firm is working on behalf of Kensington Court Condominiums to remove my sick and mentally incapacitated grandmother from her home. William H. Brosha' Esquire, and the entire law firm are trying to unethically remove my grandmother from her home. He and his team have caused my grandmother epileptic and panic attacks from the stress of losing her home which she has been in for the last 2 decades. We make our payments, and have an agreement with the bank to keep the home. Despite this, William and his team of demon vultures are trying to still remove her from her home. We keep trying to settle with the firm, but they refuse. These greedy parasites wont take any offer no matter how high. If you can avoid this firm like the plague please do. They are in the business of teaming with house associations to remove teannants they personally dont like. Last time I checked, how you feel about someone does not give you the right to remove them from their home.

I was referred to Archer and Greiner from a real estate attorney in Pennsylvania, I made the initial call, had a pleasant conversation, was asked to forward some documentation, which I did immediately. I was awaiting a call back and did not get one, so a few weeks having gone by, I called the office, was told the attorney that I was working with was busy, I never got a call back. I waited a few more weeks and called again, once again the receptionist told me that the attorney was not available. I informed the receptionist that this will be the second time I am doing this dance and that I am more than willing to pay for any services. I also informed her that I am a successfully retired business owner and had also served as a fighter pilot in the US Air Force, worthy of the attorney's phone call. I have not received a phone call back. I also registered this same complaint directly with Archer and Greiner via a contact form on their website, I have not heard anything from that communication either. I can only guess as to why. It would have to be one of 3 reasons, 1) The lawfirm is so disorganized that they cannot keep track of contacts and calls, 2) The attorney does not want the business 3) The firm is so busy that they are not taking on new clients. I would imagine and expect that a professional organization such as Archer and Greiner look to be, would in case 2 or 3 have the common decency to just tell me that, however, since they haven't I must conclude that the answer is either 1 or that they do not conduct themselves in a professional manner.

We need arbitration reform and arbitrator regulations. There are no valid checks and balances with truly getting a fair, impartial and unbiased process. Arbitrators have more power than a judge. Little to no appeal options with binding arbitration. With no valid checks and balances the arbitration process can portray as a scam. I had asked one arbitrator (a retired judge at this firm) to clarify a potential conflict and concerns of bias. Instead, the arbitrator dismissed the case without a hearing. I would not recommend the American Arbitration Association as the process is not fair, unbiased and impartial as they advertise. I had reached out to vice presidents to get involved with the process and they never even responded. The unfairness is so blatant, the area I was assigned, the AAA administrators do not even provide their own names. It's an ethics and moral issue if you can't put your name on your work.

The fact they are coming after me years later with no warning but one letter and I tried to call and resolve it no answer.. I can only speak for the outcome of our child custody case. In the early stages of our case, prior to hiring him, he told us there was the Tender Years Doctrine that he could use an an argument in our case. Having never heard of that, and going online to Google it, found out that has not been used in many years, because it was deemed to violate the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. When we questioned him on that, he backed away from it. It seemed as though he was attentive, and he spent time with us going over all our notes. But in the end, on the most important day in court, it was like he just wasn't 'there'. He didn't much object to anything from the other side, didn't challenge the important evidence, and overall left us to flounder. We cannot speak for other cases he handles, for which he may be perfectly fit. But in our personal experience with him on an important child custody case, we felt he was a poor choice for our situation.

Bill Waldman was the attorney that handled a closing for Lakeland bank whom held an SBA loan I had. After closing the deal in December 2020 and wanting to pay off the balance in the first 6 months I sent 3 requests starting in June of 2021 requesting a pay off balance after I had paid down a large amount of the loan. It was not until OCTOBER that he finally got back to me and Fedex me out a demand letter saying I owed almost twice the amount money and I needed to satisfy the loan in 10 days. In addition, he continued to add interest on the loan which I had planned to pay off in full back in June. After a bit of back and forth I had to do his job and correct him on his $70K error because he was asking ME to show him where he had dropped the ball. Makes you a little nervous that these banks have lawyers that represent them and they make such huge errors. I guess this is what you get from K&L Gates LLP.

I hired Ms. Marcolini as my divorce attorney and terminated her 2 months later. She almost costed me my case, leaving me no choice but having to find another attorney to represent me. Ms. Marcolini did not file motions that were needed and wasted time over the phone trying to reach verbal agreements- which of course were never court ordered. On top of not doing her job, she had errors in her billing (documented wrong amounts I paid), charged me $500 to cancel her services and an initial consultation fee which states "free" on her website. Seth Broder was hired to provide legal service for me as power of attorney for the sale of my sister’s home in NJ. I chose Seth for two reasons. The first was that my sister used Shari of the firm for some estate legal services. The second was I checked on the internet what was a typical fee for attorney service for a home sale in NJ and found it to be $1500 to $2000. When I asked Seth what his fee would be he stated on the phone call “about $1500” as the” buyer attorney has more heavy lifting” As it turned out the sale was elongated due to the buyer having some difficulty securing financing. However, the fee ended up being over $5000. That is more than triple the original estimate. When asked to reduce the fee or even acknowledge the original estimate Seth refused. The fee agreement was based on hourly rates not a fixed fee. The services provided were professional and high quality but I felt I was taken advantage of in the high price required to be paid.

What an Appeals Lawyer Can Do for You

An appeals lawyer specializes in representing clients in appellate courts, challenging or defending lower court decisions. If you believe that a legal error was made during your trial or that the court’s decision was unjust, an appeals lawyer can help you appeal the ruling to a higher court. They work to identify mistakes made during the trial, such as improper application of law, exclusion of key evidence, or jury misconduct. On the other hand, if you're defending a favorable judgment, an appeals lawyer can help protect the decision from being overturned.

Appeals lawyers don’t retry the case but instead focus on legal arguments and procedural issues to convince the appellate court to either overturn, modify, or uphold the lower court’s decision.

When Should I Hire an Appeals Lawyer?

Hiring an appeals lawyer is necessary when you are involved in a legal appeal, either as the appellant (the party appealing the case) or the appellee (the party defending the lower court’s ruling). Common situations in which you should hire an appeals lawyer include:

  • Appealing a conviction or ruling: If you’ve been convicted in a criminal case or lost a civil case and believe the decision was based on legal errors or improper procedures, an appeals lawyer can review the case and file an appeal on your behalf.
  • Challenging a sentence: In criminal cases, if you feel that the sentence is excessively harsh or not in line with legal standards, an appeals lawyer can work to reduce or modify the sentence.
  • Defending a lower court ruling: If the opposing party has filed an appeal to overturn a favorable ruling, an appeals lawyer can help defend the judgment and argue that the lower court’s decision should be upheld.
  • Complex legal issues: If your case involves complicated legal issues or interpretations of the law, an appeals lawyer can provide the necessary expertise to argue those points effectively before an appellate court.
  • Reviewing trial errors: Appeals lawyers can examine whether mistakes such as jury misconduct, improper exclusion or admission of evidence, or incorrect jury instructions occurred during the trial.

You should hire an appeals lawyer as soon as you decide to appeal or are informed that the other party is appealing the case, as appellate procedures are time-sensitive.

What Does an Appeals Lawyer Do?

An appeals lawyer provides specialized legal services to challenge or defend a lower court decision. Their role focuses on legal arguments, reviewing the trial record, and persuading the appellate court to either reverse or uphold the ruling. They can:

  • Review the trial record: Appeals lawyers meticulously review transcripts, evidence, and rulings from the original trial to identify any legal errors or procedural mistakes that could be grounds for appeal.
  • Prepare and file briefs: Appeals lawyers write legal briefs that present persuasive arguments to the appellate court. These briefs focus on the legal errors made during the trial and how they affected the outcome.
  • Present oral arguments: In many appeals, lawyers present oral arguments before a panel of judges, explaining why the lower court’s decision should be reversed or upheld based on legal principles.
  • Monitor case law developments: Appeals lawyers stay updated on changes in the law and precedents set by higher courts, which can be crucial in shaping the arguments they present during the appeal.
  • Provide legal advice on the likelihood of success: Appeals lawyers can offer a realistic assessment of your chances of winning the appeal based on the legal errors and evidence from the trial.

How Are Appeals Lawyers Paid?

Appeals lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the appeal and the amount of work required to prepare briefs and present arguments. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many appeals lawyers charge by the hour due to the significant amount of research, writing, and preparation involved in appeals. Hourly rates can range from $200 to $600 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and the case’s complexity.
  • Flat fee: For some straightforward appeals, a lawyer may charge a flat fee that covers all the work necessary to complete the appeal.
  • Retainer fee: In complex or high-stakes appeals, a lawyer may require a retainer, an upfront payment that covers the initial stages of the appeal. The lawyer then bills against this retainer for ongoing work.

It's important to discuss fees and costs upfront with your lawyer during the initial consultation to ensure you understand the financial commitment involved.

How Much Does an Appeals Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an appeals lawyer varies depending on factors such as the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the amount of work involved. General cost estimates include:

  • Straightforward appeals: For simpler appeals, such as those involving minor legal errors, fees can range from $5,000 to $15,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Complex appeals: Appeals that involve complicated legal issues, multiple grounds for appeal, or high-stakes outcomes can cost anywhere from $20,000 to $100,000 or more, especially if the case requires extensive legal research, brief writing, and oral arguments.
  • Hourly rates: Many appeals lawyers charge hourly rates ranging from $200 to $600 per hour, with higher rates often associated with more experienced attorneys or particularly challenging cases.

Before proceeding with your appeal, it’s crucial to ask for a clear estimate of the costs involved so you can budget appropriately.

Top Questions to Ask an Appeals Lawyer

Before hiring an appeals lawyer, it’s essential to ask questions to ensure they are well-suited for your case and that you understand the appeals process. Important questions include:

  1. What experience do you have with appeals?
Ensure the lawyer has substantial experience handling appellate cases, particularly in the area of law relevant to your case (e.g., criminal, civil, family, etc.).
  2. How do you charge for appeals?
Ask whether the lawyer charges an hourly rate, a flat fee, or a retainer, and request an estimate of the total costs for handling your appeal.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my appeal?
A good appeals lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case’s strengths and weaknesses and the chances of winning the appeal.
  4. How long will the appeal process take?
Ask for an estimate of how long the appeal process might take, from filing the initial briefs to a final decision by the appellate court.
  5. Will you personally handle my appeal?
In larger law firms, junior attorneys or legal assistants may handle some of the research or drafting. Clarify who will be responsible for preparing and arguing your case.
  6. What is your approach to handling appeals?
Some lawyers may be more inclined to focus on procedural issues, while others emphasize broader legal arguments. Make sure the lawyer’s approach aligns with your goals.

How to Check the Credibility of an Appeals Lawyer

To ensure that you’re hiring a reputable appeals lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for appellate experience: Review the lawyer’s website or profile to ensure they specialize in appellate law and have successfully handled appeals similar to yours.
  • Check client reviews and testimonials: Look for client feedback on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to get insight into the lawyer’s track record and client satisfaction.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their expertise and success in handling appeals.
  • Look for recognition in appellate law: Membership in organizations like the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers (AAAL) or awards and recognition in appellate law can indicate a lawyer’s expertise in this specialized area.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an appeals lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Trial transcripts and court records: The lawyer will need a complete record of the original trial, including transcripts, motions, exhibits, and the final judgment or order.
  • Legal briefs from the trial: If any briefs or motions were filed during the trial, bring copies so the appeals lawyer can review the legal arguments that were presented.
  • Written decision or verdict: Bring the court’s written ruling, verdict, or decision so the lawyer can identify any potential errors or issues to raise on appeal.
  • Questions about the appeal process: Write down any questions you have about the appeal’s timeline, costs, and potential outcomes.
  • List of potential legal errors: If you believe specific mistakes were made during the trial (e.g., improper evidence, legal misinterpretations), provide a list of those issues.

Being well-prepared for your consultation allows the lawyer to assess your case more effectively and provide the best guidance on how to proceed with your appeal.
