Robert Burford is amazing! I had a business issue and my lawyer from most respected law firms in Houston was handling it. This dragged for months and months: tons of aggravation, even sleepless nights, and over $100K in legal bills. A friend recommended to contact Mr. Burford. First he requested to send him all paperwork. After a week, Robert met with me and my partner on the morning before Christmas. His whole office was empty. He asked us what we wanted as the result of his involvement. He found our claim to be very reasonable. After he wrote a letter to the opposing attorneys and had a discussion with them, my partner and I got everything that we wanted. I'm always very thankful to Robert Burford.

1/14/25 was the day the Charles Johnson Law Firm cleared my son case. It was a long stressful 10months. My son was falsely accused of assaulting a police officer. We know the issue with a black man being accused by a white officer. I can go on about but I will not. God lead me to this law firm and I am grateful that I stuck with them. They spoke on behalf and had my son best interests in heart. Thank you Charles Law Firm Family for well job done My family is truly grateful.

Title: “Unethical, Unprofessional, and Part of a Systemic Problem – Avoid at All Costs” Review: I trusted Charles Johnson to represent me in a critical legal matter involving my rights as a parent and the safety of my child. Instead, I encountered unethical conduct and a lack of professionalism that I believe reflects broader systemic issues within the legal community. 1. Failure to Follow Instructions: Mr. Johnson refused to file motions that were critical to my case, despite explicit requests and legal urgency. Instead, he pursued strategies I advised against, which I believe were contrary to my best interests and to those of my child. 2. Broken Promise for Refund: After withdrawing from my case, Mr. Johnson explicitly promised in writing to refund my retainer. However, he later reversed that promise without justification. 3. Neglect of the Best Interests of My Child: Mr. Johnson’s inaction and disregard for my instructions directly contributed to delays and worsened the legal situation for my child. His failure to address critical legal violations has exacerbated the harm my child has endured. 4. Part of a Larger Problem: I believe Mr. Johnson’s actions align with systemic issues of unethical behavior within the local legal system. His failure to prioritize the law and his client’s needs reflects a disregard for justice and ethical standards. It is my opinion that his conduct perpetuates the very systemic rot that undermines trust in the courts and legal professionals. 5. Unprofessional Communication: Mr. Johnson and his staff failed to communicate adequately, delayed responses to critical matters, and ignored requests for accountability. These failures reflect a lack of professionalism and integrity that no client should have to endure. Conclusion: I believe Mr. Johnson’s actions have caused irreparable harm to my child and my legal case. His refusal to uphold his professional and ethical obligations is unacceptable. Recommendation: I strongly advise against hiring Charles Johnson. In my experience, his actions contribute to systemic issues in the legal community and have caused significant harm to me and my family. Jeremy Oluma

If I could give 0 stars I would. I waited almost an entire month to speak to Mr. Tommy Hastings regarding my deceased grandmother's case his assistant (I'm assuming his paralegal) was persistent that he would take. I kept getting rescheduled and still no call. Upon reaching back out today-I was told Mr. Hastings would not be taking on the case and that I was sent an "email" explaining why. I never received an email. I was also told Mr. Hastings called and left a voicemail which I have proof I also never received. The only call I received on 10/31/24 when the conference call was supposed to be rescheduled for at 11am-was a call missed at 1:51pm from a (409) number from Port Arthur with a caller ID that said "Griffin, J" and no voicemail was left. (So unless this was Mr. Hastings-he never called) This was highly unprofessional and precious time wasted that I could've spent working with a lawyer who actually cared. Also, this would've been an absolute EASY case for ANY lawyer to win-as I had already explained I did all of the leg work and was just waiting on the medical records. I would do your diligence when researching a lawyer and stay far away from this practice. Edit: I was told I was legally not allowed to take on this case due to not being a direct "heir" of my grandmother, however I had explained my mother (my grandmother's daughter) was willing to sign any documents necessary to start this process/case. So again, there was no excuse as to why my/our time was wasted.

I had the most AMAZING experiance while using this lawfirm. Not only did they make it easy for me they are prompt, sympathetic to my concerns and my medical disability. As well any concerns I had throughout the case they were there for me. My lawyer Mr. Gabe Sassin stayed communication with me at ALL times. His assistant Brianna Lopez is AWESOME she always went above and beyond for me with anything I needed. Her compassion is unmeasurable and I am so greatful for her. I RECOMMEND this law firm all the way. If you want someone that will fight for you and be there for you EVERY step of the way THEN THIS IS THE LAWFIRM FOR YOU! Thank you Hasting lawfirm for fighting for me.

I just signed the contract to use CCK's services last week and for 3 days, I could not get a lawyer or even a paralegal to speak to me. Only the receptionist who says the same thing every day, "they're busy, they will call you back today or tomorrow." It wasn't until I told the receptionist I no longer want their representation did someone get on the phone with me. Of course, it was too late. I cannot be represented by a law firm who I can't even get on the phone with for 3 consecutive days of trying. It's very unfortunate because they have multiple good reviews from previous clients, but I guess I wasn't important enough.

I made the mistake of hiring this firm to represent me in attempting to get my va disability. The entire time they were representing me I never once spoke to an actual lawyer and they would only have paralegals call me that knew even less than I did about any of the regulations. My disability ended up going through off of stuff that I filed before I even hired this firm but since I hired them they still got 30k of my money. Then they allowed the va to illegally lower two of my static disabilities in an attempt to lower me below 100%. The best I got from this firm was, "well at least they weren't able to lower you below 100%". Then they had a brand new paralegal call me to lie to me about temporary total disability. I had to be off work for just over 3 months due to reconstructive neck surgery and it was all through the va. The va refused to pay me temporary total disability and this firm actually sided with the va and had a paralegal lie to me about the regulations, I actually had them pulled up on my computer while I was on the phone with her and read them off to her because she admitted she didn't actually know them. Even after I pointed that out they still refused to do anything about it. If you have any documented proof at all about anything you're claiming and you can argue your point better than an elementary school kid then save your money and represent yourself because this firm absolutely does not care about you unless you're an easy mark for them and they will lie directly to you if they feel like they're not going to get much money out of you for whatever you're talking about. Inaccurate facts? I don't think you guys would actually know what a fact actually was even if it was read off to you. In fact, I know you wouldn't because I literally read off the regulations for temporary total disability when you guys had a paralegal call me to lie to me about it. The very least you could do is own up to your short comings and admit when you're 100% in the wrong. I can even spell it out for you too so that way you can't deny it. I was denied temporary total disability after having reconstructive neck surgery through the VA. The regulation governing approval for temporary total disability clearly states that it would have to either be something you were currently rated for or the surgery would have to have been performed through the VA. The surgery was performed through the VA but they still denied me for it and your office sided with the VA and still refused to do anything about it even after I read off the regulations to the ignorant paralegal you had call me to lie to me about it. Then there's still the matter that your office allowed the VA to illegally lower two of my static disabilities with a completely unrelated exam report and even in the exam report it said I had shown no improvement. You could've just acknowledged that your firm screwed up but now everybody gets to see that you're attempting to lie about that too, not a good look when you claim you do all you can to help veterans.

Just was accepted by CCK. I see mainly good reviews and I’m hoping they’re true so just for good luck I’m here supporting my attorneys. So far my experience has been what it needed to be. The intake interview was lengthy and thorough. I made sure to mention everything that I could think of that will prove my case. Idk care if they take a year because i the damage my service has done to me has completely destroyed my life and I know I wouldn’t be able to get what I deserve without a solid team. They literally run a deal where if they win, they get a check and we get a check a month forever and if they don’t win they don’t charge you. Geez I’d give them 40% if I knew they could definitely prove my 100%

My lawyer succeeded in taking money. He failed at everything else. He’s breathtakingly incompetent in all things family law. He never actually tried, no showed when I drove to Houston to give him evidence for a case, no showed the day before trial to prep for trial, then he got notice of the other side pulling unscrupulous moves to take my child and he withdrew without a peep. I didn’t find out he quit until the restraining order (THAT HE COULD’VE VETOED) was pushed through. It wasn’t even under the radar. He got the notice of what they were doing Feb. 26 and he withdrew Feb. 28 without so much as the decency of informing me by phone that he withdrew. His hands were shaking during trial. The cowardice/unpreparedness exhibited in the court room is more than enough to take pause and consider other options. My hands were shaking and sweating and I look over, his hands were shaking and sweating as badly as mine. My lawyer was visibly shaking with hands sweating. He told me that I wouldn’t get a fair trial in this court in this city and he wasn’t going back to court. Then, he didn’t lift a single finger when the time came for him to truly represent my children and I.

First, of all He’s full Crap! If, there were no other lawyers on the planet, I would still not seek is lousy advice. Anybody, can join various groups, and attempt to inflate their resume. Lawyers do it every day. Tim Webb is no different. Look elsewhere for legitimate legal advice. Not this fake! He rides on the coattails of other established people in the legal field in Houston, and elsewhere. A “TRUE “ FRAUD!!!! He likes to run as a hobby. People in Houston, that I know would like to see him run off a cliff instead. Bankruptcy, and Personal Injury lawyers, are skilled ambulance chasers, and crooks! That’s it in a nutshell. Most , people in the legal sphere don’t consider tax lawyer’s, or bankruptcy lawyers, as real attorneys anyway. Unleash a tax lawyer, or a petty bankruptcy lawyer in a criminal case in court, and watch them turn into dust. Especially, when addressing a jury. Most, have never tried a case ever in a court of law. Tax lawyers just prove they’ve learned the formula for new tax laws, and bankruptcy laws. Difficult, not really! Most animals could be trained to do that. Most have never tried a case in a court of law, and that’s because most don’t have the aptitude to do it! And are encouraged by professors, while still in law school to look at other legal emphases. Because, the professors know when they see a student who probably won’t make it in criminal law, and be successful. Retain him at your own risk!!!’ Another “Quack” in the legal field. No wonder most people surveyed by U.S. News & World Report, surveyed say most attorneys are full of it! Tim Webb is the reason why people feel that way! This fake so-called lawyer is not any different!!!!

All lawyers must do their research but time and experience are key factors in the depth of their knowledge base. Mr. Williams has helped me with both Tax related issues and Bankruptcy issues. I am not sure how to rate this firm, or if they even read these reviews. I have called, sent emails, and attempted to message them on their website, and not received any response beyond "I will send a message to our legal team", which is starting to feel like a way of passing the buck. I realize that they have many clients to manage in the 3M class action, the lack of professionalism is not a good sign.

I hired Mr Yip to review my contract for a new job fresh out of the residency. He reviewed my contract and told me that it was “standard” for a new physician hire. I trusted his opinion and signed. 18 months later my employer “ a small private clinic” calls me in to terminate my contract without cause. I found out that I have to pay back my sign on bonus and my relocation allocation in full even though I have worked for the office for 18 months out of the 24 months. I think that they did so because of financial issues related to the company. I contacted Mr Yip to let him know about what happened, he stopped responding to my texts once I told him of the termination with out cause. At no point did he mention anything about the termination without cause and what ever I have to pay back to the company if that ever happened. He did not even mention it to me or suggested negotiating the terms to request a prorated amount pay back or any thing at all. My contract was drafted to protect the employer, and my lawyer did nothing to advocate for my right. I doubt that he even read the entire contact. I warn you not to ever hire this lawyer. He is not only inefficient, but also unprofessional.

What a Bankruptcy Lawyer Can Do for You

A bankruptcy lawyer specializes in helping individuals and businesses manage overwhelming debt by filing for bankruptcy or exploring alternatives to bankruptcy. They guide clients through the complex legal process of discharging or restructuring debts, represent them in court, and work to protect assets such as homes and cars. Bankruptcy lawyers can also help stop creditor harassment, wage garnishment, and foreclosures through bankruptcy protections.

If you're facing financial hardship, a bankruptcy lawyer can help you decide whether filing for bankruptcy is the right option and assist you through the legal process.

When Should I Hire a Bankruptcy Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a bankruptcy lawyer in the following situations:

  • Unmanageable debt: If you're unable to pay your bills and debts are piling up, a lawyer can help you explore options such as Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
  • Foreclosure or repossession: If your home is at risk of foreclosure or your vehicle is in danger of being repossessed, a bankruptcy lawyer can help you use bankruptcy protections to prevent this and potentially reorganize your debts.
  • Wage garnishment: If your wages are being garnished, filing for bankruptcy can stop garnishments and allow you to regain control of your finances.
  • Creditor harassment: If creditors are constantly calling or sending collection notices, a bankruptcy lawyer can stop these actions by filing for bankruptcy, which enacts an automatic stay that halts collection activities.
  • Small business debt: If your business is struggling with debt and cannot meet financial obligations, a lawyer can help you file for Chapter 11 (reorganization) or Chapter 7 (liquidation) bankruptcy.
  • Medical debt or credit card debt: If you have large amounts of unsecured debt like medical bills or credit card balances, a bankruptcy lawyer can help you seek relief through Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

Hiring a bankruptcy lawyer early in the process can prevent further financial damage and help you choose the best legal option for debt relief.

What Does a Bankruptcy Lawyer Do?

A bankruptcy lawyer provides a range of services to help individuals and businesses handle their debts. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Evaluating your financial situation: Assessing your income, assets, debts, and expenses to determine if bankruptcy is the right option and which type of bankruptcy (Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or Chapter 11) best suits your situation.
  • Filing bankruptcy petitions: Preparing and filing the necessary documents to initiate your bankruptcy case, ensuring that all legal requirements are met.
  • Stopping creditor harassment: Once the bankruptcy case is filed, an automatic stay is enacted, which stops creditors from pursuing collection efforts. A lawyer ensures this protection is applied immediately.
  • Representing you in court: Representing you in court proceedings, including meetings with creditors and any hearings related to your case.
  • Negotiating with creditors: In Chapter 13 or Chapter 11 bankruptcies, negotiating a repayment plan that restructures your debts and allows you to manage payments more effectively.
  • Advising on asset protection: Guiding you on how to protect certain assets, such as your home or retirement savings, through available bankruptcy exemptions.
  • Explaining the impact on your credit: Informing you about how bankruptcy will affect your credit and advising on steps to rebuild your credit post-bankruptcy.

How Are Bankruptcy Lawyers Paid?

Bankruptcy lawyers typically charge for their services in different ways depending on the complexity of the case and the type of bankruptcy being filed. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many bankruptcy lawyers charge a flat fee for handling Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. This fee usually covers the entire process, from preparing and filing paperwork to representing you in court.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases, such as Chapter 11 bankruptcy (often used by businesses), some lawyers charge an hourly rate. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more.
  • Retainer: In cases where ongoing legal services are required, such as in Chapter 11 bankruptcies or complex Chapter 13 cases, a lawyer may request a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as the lawyer works on the case.

It’s important to discuss fees with your lawyer upfront, as bankruptcy law requires lawyers to disclose all fees and ensure they are reasonable and fair.

How Much Does a Bankruptcy Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a bankruptcy lawyer varies depending on the type of bankruptcy and the complexity of the case. General cost estimates include:

  • Chapter 7 bankruptcy: For individuals, legal fees usually range from $1,000 to $3,500. This flat fee generally covers the entire process.
  • Chapter 13 bankruptcy: For individuals filing Chapter 13, legal fees typically range from $2,500 to $6,000. This cost is higher because of the additional work required to create and manage the repayment plan.
  • Chapter 11 bankruptcy (for businesses): Chapter 11 bankruptcy is more complex and usually more expensive, with legal fees ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 or more, depending on the size of the business and the complexity of the debt restructuring.
  • Filing fees: In addition to legal fees, there are also court filing fees, which are $338 for Chapter 7 and $313 for Chapter 13 as of 2024.

Always ask for a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand what services are included and whether payment plans are available.

Top Questions to Ask a Bankruptcy Lawyer

Before hiring a bankruptcy lawyer, it’s important to ask key questions to ensure they have the experience and knowledge to handle your case effectively. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with bankruptcy cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee or hourly rate, and ask for a detailed breakdown of costs, including filing fees and additional expenses.
  3. Which type of bankruptcy is best for me?
Ask the lawyer to explain whether Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or Chapter 11 is the best option based on your financial situation and long-term goals.
  4. What debts can be discharged?
Ask which of your debts will be forgiven through bankruptcy and which debts (such as certain taxes or student loans) may not be dischargeable.
  5. How long will the process take?
Bankruptcy cases can take time to resolve, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last, from filing to discharge.
  6. Will I be able to keep my assets?
Ask if you will be able to keep important assets, such as your home or car, and what exemptions might apply.
  7. What happens after bankruptcy?
Ask about the impact of bankruptcy on your credit score and what steps you can take to rebuild your credit after the bankruptcy is finalized.

How to Check the Credibility of a Bankruptcy Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable bankruptcy lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for bankruptcy experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in bankruptcy law and have successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and ability to handle bankruptcy cases.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on bankruptcy matters.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Look for lawyers who are members of organizations such as the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) or who have specialized bankruptcy law certifications.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a bankruptcy lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • List of debts: Prepare a detailed list of all your debts, including credit cards, personal loans, medical bills, and any secured debts such as mortgages or car loans.
  • Income and expense records: Bring documents that show your current income, such as pay stubs or tax returns, and a list of your monthly expenses, including rent, utilities, and other essential costs.
  • Asset information: Provide information on any assets you own, such as your home, car, investments, or other valuable property.
  • Credit reports: If possible, bring copies of your credit reports to give the lawyer a clear view of your financial situation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare a list of questions you have about the bankruptcy process, the lawyer’s fees, and what to expect after filing for bankruptcy.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your situation more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice tailored to your needs.
