It's a hard pill to swallow when you come to a point where you must debate on whether you should file for bankruptcy or not. After weighing all possible options, I decided to file and was referred to Robert Fox. It had started as an initial phone call with quick questions regarding your income, your debt and your expenses. This is what they call the Means test. After answering all the questions, I was told I was a "good" candidate to file. We then proceeded to schedule a future date to talk again going into further details about my debt and expenses. What was really nice for me was i asked if we should talk over the phone or meet in person. Robert said it was my preference and really didn't mind if I chose either way. He understood that people were busy and couldn't always make time to travel to his office. However, he did suggest that meeting in person would be more personable. That right away made me feel a bit more relieved during the process. It gave me a sense of security in knowing he wanted to do his job and do it right. And if it meant putting a face to a file, then i was all for it.
On my office visit, I was greeted by Iris at the front desk. (Please pay attention to her. She is another instrumental person in the process). Very pleasant and nice lady. After meeting with Robert and getting all the things done during our discussion, Iris gave me papers to look over and sign and gave me my list of things to do over the next couple of days. She also told me she would be in contact with me from time to time til my hearing. And in the days leading up to my hearing, she always gave me detailed instructions on everything and anything. Don't worry, Robert was always available for me whenever I had any questions.
Now one thing before I end my review. You, as the client, must do everything asked of you by Robert and Iris if you want the whole process to go smoothly and without a hitch. If you do your part, and do it right, they can do theirs correctly.

In the fall of 2015, I suffered a crush injury on a construction site in NYC. I was taken on by what is considered one of the top law firms in the North East. 6 months into my case, they dropped me citing the difficulty in winning my case. The Perecman Firm looked over my case and eagerly took it on. From day 1 they coordinated all of my case needs. All of my follow up doctor visits and Independent Medical Examiner appointments were over seen and documented by their group of experts. Ed Guldi walked my case through the red tape of NYS Workers Comp and Silvana Leone navigated me through the incredibly arduous path of obtaining SSDI like she wrote the code! Every T was crossed and every I was dotted!

Going through a bankruptcy can definitely be one of the toughest time one may ever experience, especially when you have to let go of just about every asset you ever owned or had. Yet, getting someone who is willing to go beyond expectations and dig deep to see what the very best strategy for your own case may be can make all the difference at the end of the day.
Mr. Kasen was willing to do just that for me and pulled it through. He searched deep to find a prior judgement in a similar case as mine (which was quite unique as well as involved) to start, support and push through the best possible resolve.
I interviewed a few attorneys prior to make a selection and they all had different strategies and cost structures, making it very hard to make a choice (I mean, who has prior experience in bankruptcy, right?). This alone can be one of the hardest part of the process, as you have to let go of the control, feeling that your life is in someone else’s hands. I am glad I went with my gut feeling. Although it may appear that this top rating seems a bit high on the mark, I can state with certainty that Jerry Merola is the real deal when it comes to bankruptcy cases. I've never seen a lawyer fight for a client like Mr. Dauman did for me. I had two cases where the cops executed a search warrant at my boys house. They charged me with possession and tried to claim that I lived in one of the rooms in the apartment. I didn't live there and the drugs were found in a box in that room. The Da kept dragging the case out but Mr. Dauman kept on fighting. When the DA offered a violation on each, I was tempted to take it just so I didn't have to go back to court. But thankfully Chad asked me this question. Would you really be able to walk away happy knowing that the cops are lying? No I wouldn't have been. So we took it to trial. One case dismissed, other one we just beat.
He's more than just a lawyer to me though. I view him like a brother. He was there on every single court date. He never had someone else represent me like many public defenders. He took me out to lunch and asked about my family. We both were in the fight together and I put my trust completely in his hands. And I'm happy I did. He believed me from the very first time I met him.
