The Crush & Varma Law Group did a formidable job for our engineering firm in getting us registered for Authority (professional service) as a Foreign Limited Liability Company in New York State. The Foreign PLLC registration process (for non-domestic firms) is quite a tricky process in New York state. With the legal support and guidance from Crush & Varma, our firm was successfully able to get registered as a Foreign PLLC and to secure our Certificate of Authorization with NYSED within a very reasonable timeframe.

Mr. Fitch helped me with a couple of contracts for my consulting business. He was responsive (turned things around in a day or less), attentive to detail (detected some omissions in the initial draft sent by the client) and courteous. All his edits were accepted by the client.

I am so thankful to have found Mr Provost. This lawyer is extremely knowledgeable intelligent patient and thorough; and most of all honest. My case was extremely involved. I especially appreciated how easy it was to contact him. Cell, calls, text, email. I am beyond pleased with everything he did and said. The work was phenomenal as well as the outcome. He is exceptional. He has now completed cases for 4 of my friends and family and I will continue letting anyone know I highly recommend him.

Choosing G. Barone as your attorney will be the BEST decision you can make. He is knowledgeable, ethical, transparent and honest. As your attorney, he is in constant communication with you. I feel he went above and beyond anything I could have ever expected. Dealing with legal situations can be very strenuous. Knowing that I had Gardiner as my lawyer offered me a lot of peace. I highly recommend his services!!!!

This is hands down the most disreputable, unprofessional, shady law firm that I have ever encountered in my life. Over a month ago I contacted them about handling my moms estate who passed away a few years ago without a will. My brothers mishandled the estate and I was trying to get it taken care of with the help of a lawyer given the complicated nature of the case. So every other day for over a month, their law clerk, Zachary Crosby (who also recently received his law degree) was going back and forth with me working the case to try and see where we are at before we get started. He gave me a quote as to how much it would be for their firm to represent me to close the estate but was unsure of the cost of potential litigation. At one point he suggested I pay them a one time fee of 750 dollars so he could get enough information for me to determine if moving forward was in my best interest. The entire time he kept pushing me to start the case so they could move forward, so I outlined a plan and said I wanted to reach out to my brothers first. I did and then came back to him to set up an initial consult and start the case and he said ok let me get back to you by the end of the day. I did not hear back from him for over 3 days, so I reach out again and he again ignored me. A few days later he responded back only after I emailed him and said I would call the office and talk to someone else. He tells me we are set up for the consultation next week with Megan Conroy and then tells me the next day, woops there was a miscommunication and Megan said they cant represent me. He never actually talked to a real lawyer at the firm about representing me and when he did they were not interested and his initial response was to ignore me and hope I would go away. He wasted 5 weeks of my time, tried to con me out of 750 bucks, disrespected the memory of my mother and completely ruined my case because now my brothers know what I am doing and they are going to block my attempts. Not to mention the fact that this is a difficult and depressing situation to deal with and now I have to do it all over again. I do not put this solely on the law clerk, I put this on the entire firm and especially the senior members because if nothing else they hired this shady, incompetent, mediocre individual and they are responsible not only for the behavior of their employees but also the training of their employees. I have worked with dozens of lawyers over the years on a multitude of different issues and I have never encountered anything like this. Welcome to the United States of Mediocrity. This is what happens when you lower the standards of education over and over again for decades. I will be reporting the firm to the attorney disciplinary committee as all the correspondences were done via email and I have all the emails and they had no right to mislead me and misrepresent their position. More importantly though, I wanted to leave a review and let people know to stay away from this firm. How bad a firm is this? They messed up my plans and ruined my case and did not even get paid for it. If they cannot handle their business and look out for their own interests, how competent do you think they are that they are going to be able to look out for yours? They do not care about you or your family, they are just a bunch of low level manipulative con artists. Think about that and save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else.

Thinks his primitive ways and his nasty attitude makes him the best in his field. Did things with out my authorization which lead to more hang ups after he dragged his feet for weeks and went on vacation. Bad mouthed my Realtor and my mortgage broker.. also told me it doesn’t matter that my wife is delivering our child early after trying to make better headway on our situation. I really just get the vibe he’s not a good person and for sure not a great lawyer.

Alan will explore all angles, that I've seen....

A friend of mine recommended an attorney who recommended Marcello for my case. Marcello was very helpful. It was my first time appearing in a court and I was largely unaware of the process but Marcello helped make it easy for me. Marcello was very honest with me throughout the case and helped me stay positive while awaiting my hearing. Marcello did his best to answer any questions I had throughout the process as completely and quickly as possible.

I hired Marcello Cirigliano to be my lawyer almost a year ago to settle a business closing and some other things. He was absolutely TERRIBLE about getting back to me either by phone or email. Id say he returned my call maybe 1 in 20 times. Pat F handled most of the calls and emails. She was great, always returned calls and emails but didnt always know answers so it was necessary to talk to Marcello at times. He refused to get back to me after multiple messages and emails. We had our closing a few weeks ago and there were some loose ends I needed to finish up. I emailed him last week and as always, he never replied. So today I called and talked to Mr Bluestein and explained to him the situation and asked him why, if Marcello took on my case, he never called me back. The only answers I ever got from anyone was that he was really too busy to get back to me...or sick .....or on vacation. After my call with Mr B, Marcello FINALLY did email me back and basically told me to take my business elsewhere....this after I spent close to $10,000.00 with this firm. If a lawyer doesnt have the time to get back to his clients, he should not take that client on. Do not use Marcello if you want things done in a timely matter or if you want to get calls returned to you. He is not the man for the job.

I had several representation from Legal Aid Society, never did I had a negative experience with them. Sometimes we need to check us before we past judgement onto others, cuz every time you point a finger at someone theres 3 coming back to you. today as I was reading the reviews for this Legal Aid Society, and I don't find the negative reviews to be helpful at all. I had a very positive experience when dealing with everyone there. Yes there are a lot of people that need help that go to this place. So maybe the secretaries are abrupt and quick to transfer you to the attorneys voicemail. Christopher Pezzullo, my attorney was very helpful there was a little communication, but it wasn't necessary. He handled my case completely professionally. He talked to me when I needed to hear from him. People have to remember they are not the only one in a long list of others in need of these lawyers assistance. I am sure the staff is overwhelmed and doing the best that they can. Those that can't understand this are just selfish and ignorant. You are not the only person with an issue that needs to be dealt with in court. Maybe give that some consideration next time you're writing a negative review, remember treat people the way you want to be treated. Sincerely Roberto Sanchez

What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
