Inexperienced. Only 1 year barred. Lacked knowledge in simple contract law. Unprofessional with us and in how how he handled communications with other parties involved. His practice is part time. He is not a full time attorney. He does something for the Coast guards. This means he wasn’t attentive to matters that needed timely attention. Important things did not get done. Hire someone with actual experience who is an attorney full time.

Mr. King is an exceptional attorney! He was professional and kind when initially hearing our story. After been turned away by several attorneys, he contacted us and asked he we would allow him to represent us. After hearing our story he told us we had a chance at winning our case. After reviewing our large amount of documentation, he informed us that he wanted to immediately put the other party on notice for violating several federal laws, including the Fair Debt Collect Act. He also immediately put the collection agency on notice demanded that the collection account be removed unless substantiating documentation could be provided to validate the collection account in excess of $15,000. He quickly won that battle, and as a result moved swiftly to engage the original, alleging, debtor. Once he had an attorney to communicate with directly, he presented the facts using the most advantageous method, and was able to successfully argue our case and win a settlement. I would recommend Mr. King to anyone that is not able to represent themselves and fight legal battles. He will fight for what is right!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Mr. King, in a pretty bitter landlord/tenant dispute... Mr. King very professionally and calmly navigated thru my case while somehow keeping me sane.... Mr. King's knowledge and calm demeanor were essential in helping me win my case ... He did such a good job for me.... Thanks to Mr. King's efforts, we not only won our case, but we won it in a fraction of the time we thought it would take... Ten out of ten times, I would recommend Mr. King... He went above and beyond for us, and we really appreciate the care he showed us throughout the process.... We are so thankful for Mr. King... He did so much more than what was expected of him...

I have worked with over 20 lawyers in my life time and I would rate David the best of the best. There is no question that on all levels experience, competence, professional, fairness in recommended resolve. He is very unique having the ability in sincerely working toward settlement and avoiding prolonged litigation. He does the right thing in fairness to all involved. I have seen the passive side and I have seen the strong firm side of David. He can get tough when he needs to but avoids that arena until last resort. He is the fairest lawyer I have ever worked with including billing the client. I have never felt he billed me unfairly, something I cannot say about other council I have worked with. They say whats in your heart eventually comes to your face. David shows it upon your first meeting with him. Any one will be very satisfied with David. i strongly recommend him.

I have nothing but good feedback about my attorney for life Mr. Gregg Paley. My initial contact with Mr. Paley was as guidance in my foreclosure case. After I called and spoke with him directly and getting the info I needed, I decided to hire Mr. Paley as my lawyer. He was very upfront and truthful from the very beginning. Soon after I had another situation arise and he was there for me like no other and I will always be greatful to him for that. Soon after I had a situation happen to me and Mr Paley stepped right up to assist me in getting this issue resolved as well. He was more than a lawyer to me in a time of need. Mr. Paley than you for all that you are and being there for me on both of my cases. You went above and beyond to make sure I would be ok in the end. Thank you for your concern and commitment.

I will be reporting this firm to the Florida Bar due to a severe lack of communication. We gave Nathan Soowal the mandat to represent us in July 2023. We pay him several thousands dollars because he said we had a strong case and he had the best interest for our child. Barely nothing has been done since. We were not getting any informations on the claim, no follow ups, no calls, no updates, no game plans. We are always reaching out to get updates and THEY DO NOT RETURN OUR CALL. Despite repeated attempts to meet with them and speak with Nathan Soowal, they have not returned our calls or provided us with any update on our claim. Specifically, they have failed to attend at 2 separate Zoom appointments that we set up with Ella the paralegal and they have not returned any of our calls This was a very sensitive and troubling matter for our family. Your failure to perform your duties and responsibilities to us as clients has exacerbated this matter for us – and is a clear breach of your duties as a lawyer and as a fiduciary. DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM. They do not care about their clients. THEY STOLE OUR MONEY!

I am reporting this firm to the Florida Bar due to a severe lack of communication. The last response I received from Nathan Soowal was on May 23, 2023, over a year ago. Despite numerous attempts to let them work on our case, I have not received any communication from Nathan via text, phone, or email. Two months ago, I managed to contact Ella, a paralegal at the firm, who assured me she would get back to me immediately. However, when I reached out to her a few days ago for an update, she ignored me. I called their 800 number, which Ella also answers, and she kept hanging up once she recognized my voice. When I texted her asking why she kept hanging up on me, she falsely claimed she couldn't hear me. I don't understand why this firm is deliberately ignoring me when they have a fiduciary duty to communicate. This entire process has been a disaster. The Office of Civil Rights is also involved and aware of the situation. It has been almost two years since I started my case. Initially, Nathan assured me that he had the best interests of my children, who are being bullied, at heart. DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM. They do not care about their clients.

What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
