My mother-in-law backed herself into a corner with some friends who became tenants in her property. I knew the situation would require a professional's assistance, and I immediately contacted Bill Makris. He was extremely professional and empathetic. He handled the situation in a timely manner, did not over-promise, and gave realistic expectations for the whole process. I would highly recommend Mr. Makris if you are in need of a real estate attorney, particularly for landlord-tenant issues.

I was involved in a near fatal tractor-trailer accident and sought help from Mr. Lucas and company based on some personal recommendations. I was not let down. Jeff and his staff insisted that I rest and recover while they handled everything, resulting in a settlement that I believe is more than fair. Jeff & his team are extremely professional, knowledgeable, & most of all, caring! They were involved with me every step of the way from the days following the accident until settling. 100% recommend to anyone involved in an auto accident.

My husband and I have used Jeff Lucas and his firm to represent us in 3 auto accidents that we had the misfortune to be involved in. Jeff is a straight shooter and explains things in simple manner. It's like having a talk with a friend. No BS. His staff is always helpful and courteous. We have referred friends and family and will continue to do so.

I hired Mr. Marlowe to help me protect my daughter from her abusive mother. My daughter's mother was charged with felony child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor for giving my daughter illegal street drugs since my daughter was 12 years old. I sent Mr. Marlowe's office an email with the evidence needed to get my daughter home to safety, only the week before the hearing for my Motion for Temporary Emergency Custody. Mr. Marlowe's office never asked for this evidence, I sent it knowing the judge had to see something, I couldn't go in there unprepared and without evidence of the crime comitted. Had I not sent this evidence I would have had nothing to show the judge during our hearing. The evidence consisted of a video of my daughter using drugs with her mother, a picture taken by my daughter of my daughter's mother using drugs, attendance records of my daughter missing over 20 days of school while in her mother's care, text messages of my daughter's motherand text messages between my daughter and her mother with explicit verbiage of drug use. Mr. Marlowe did not use all the evidence I provided. Mr. Marlowe did not subpoena the deputy who took the report which consisted of a full confession from my daughter of the dangerous and intentional drug use. Mr. Marlowe never attempted to reach out to me before the hearing to discuss the court proceedings or how we would approach opposing counsel. I was blindsided by all the questions and the proceedings of the hearing because of Mr. Marlowe's inability to prepare for the hearing. I attended the hearing via teleconference. Mr. Marlowe did not attempt to be present during my hearing while my daughter's mother's counsel was sitting next to her during the proceedings. I have trouble describing how little I felt during the hearing, having retained counsel who obviously could not care less about me, my daughter, or the proceedings. It was shameful how apparent it was that Mr. Marlowe cared so little about the justice system and a courtroom. I attended the hearing from my home while Mr. Marlowe attended the hearing from his vacation home out of state (Mr. Marlowe owns a vacation home out of state which he was operating out of). I am aware of this because I have a family member who is a friend of Mr. Marlowe's who shared this information with me. When I originally hired Mr. Marlowe to represent me and get my daughter home and away from a dangerous and abusive situation, he did not think it prudent to share with me that he lives at his vacation home out of state for roughly eight months out of the year . During our hearing, Mr. Marlowe did not share with the court all of the evidence I had provided to his office. Mr. Marlowe did not share the text messages which consisted of pictures of the drugs, my then 12 year old daughter, and her mother were using together. During the the hearing, Mr. Marlowe rolled over at every objection made by opposing counsel. Mr. Marlowe did nothing to ensure my daughter came home to a safe environment. I was beyond embarrassed at Mr. Marlowe's obvious lack of professionalism and his apparent cavalier attitude toward a child living in an abusive home where she was being given drugs. I wasted over $3,500 on Mr. Marlowe's "services." Do not hire Mr. Marlowe to help you and your family. He is only interested in collecting your money from his vacation home out of state. You are doing yourself and your children a serious disservice by retaining Mr. Marlowe.

He found a way to work out the difficult components and thoroughly explained each step as we went along. I highly recommend using Paul and his team for any type of probate or estate needs.

I wish I could adequately articulate how grateful I am that Ryan was recommended to my husband and me. From the very first consultation, he very patiently listened to understand and then asked clarifying questions to make sure he understood. Then, after giving us the legal information we needed, he asked us questions to make sure we understood. When we came back to sign papers, he again spent time with us that had not been on his schedule. He truly puts his clients first. We still have more to do, but I will only go to Ryan to have the work done. One thing that was so important was that he warned us that after filing our document we might get "official" looking mail indicating that there were more fees to be paid. This indeed happened and we could comfortably shred them and throw them away. If he had not done this, we could have been scammed into paying money we did not need to pay. I am so grateful that he made sure to warn us. I have such respect, trust, and high regard for Ryan Doddridge and recommend him without reservations.

THE OWNER LIED LOOK AT THE PICS Used Jeremy S for a case where 2 days after the case was over he was pulled from the firm due to being sick and not being able to represent. We called to talk with the firm 8 times and no call back they have no communication will take your money and never call you back 3/13/24 edit in response to the owner saying “Jeremy was not pulled” one thing the owner doesn’t realize is we referred a client who called us 2 days after my court date to ask why Jeremy was no longer working on her case then she informed us he was pulled from the firm for being sick …. Aggressive is an understatement your attorney could not walk stairs and couldn’t breathe and barely stand in court…. EDIT attached text from the customer we referred and how we found out Jeremy was released from the firm…. I have called up multiple times all I ask is for communication on your side which I have gotten none and then you just attacked me saying that I’m unhappy with the results that’s not why I’m reaching out, so please contact me for the ninth time so I can communicate with you. My time is even more expensive than Jeremy’s time, so I’m about to start billing you for how many times that I’ve tried to reach out

If I could rate a 0 I would. That is what he did for me; 0. This attorney quoted me a $4000 retainer in 11/22 and reeled me into an alimony modification case against my ex-wife. He was supposed to represent me, and actually after $12,000 I paid him over the $4,000 he quoted me. I still had not trial set, this money was charged tome for me to submit my financials to his paralegal. He submitted no motions to compel against my ex-wife who did not submit he proper affidavits and paperwork, but charged me for 2 motions to compel he never filed. We finally went to court a year later and $22,000 later. He misrepresented me and I was ordered to pay my ex-wife's attorney $11,000 fees on top of the $22,000 I already paid him for a total of $33,000 that has forced me into bankruptcy. Then he emails me and says I am no longer practicing law, you will have to find another attorney. Leaving me to hold all the debt he put me into and received no representation for. Stay away!

Quick to respond to new clients, once the contract is signed you get put on the back burner and he gets to you when he gets to you. I was ghosted for three weeks. I do not advise this lawyer for anyone needing anything that needs quick attention. He's cheap because he is a one man show. Spend a little more and get better representation. I spent over 2k and got zero results. I ended up firing him and hiring a different attorney.

Atty. James Kannard updated and created a new Operation Agreement instead of a Partnership Agreement. He properly advised that with an LLC- you need to go that route. He did so with great skill and professionalism. He was easy to talk to. He charged precisely what he specified and completed the task on time! One of the best lawyers I have had the pleasure of working with. Will definitely use again.

My divorce was upposed to be easy. I hired the wrong lawyer, so a year later I was still overwhelmed with the anguish, stress, and pain that results from marrying a narcissist. My ex-husband wiped the floor with my previous attorney. I was desperate when hired Ms. Lennon. She provided me with assurance, peace of mind, and results in an unbelievable. Miss Lennon is outstanding at fighting aggressively for you and your rights but she also has a very compassionate team like Kate. If you’re looking for the best of the best representation in all of Florida contact Miss Lennon and her team will be here ready to help. Having this powerful group of individuals behind you makes all the difference. Efficiency effectiveness but most importantly Aggressive representation.

Filled out the form on their website to set-up a free consultation. Got an email back from her secretary, Jesse Blanco, and scheduled for an hour consultation for yesterday at 5 pm. My husband and I sat down at a table and waited. At 5:20, we tried calling the office; no one answered and we left a message with our name, number and to possibly reschedule. At 5:40, we tried emailing Mr. Blanco the same thing and received no response. Now today, no return phone call or email response. We have 20 days to get our affairs in-order and we wasted two days on this. Extremely unprofessional and just an overall ridiculous experience. Thanks for nothing, literally!

What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
