I can't imagine going through the incredibly difficult and stressful process of my unlawful employment practice case with a former employer without her guidance. She was patient yet firm, and never took advantage of hourly fees, workload, or response time. Although the damage which leads to needing representation and council in any capacity can never be undone, having someone interpret the law on your behalf, and exceeding your expectations in the end result, allows for a sense of closure I wasn't sure I would get. I highly recommend her.

I worked with Sonia to resolve an unfortunate situation that emerged with the owner of a company I was working for. She was so professional and knowledgeable and advised on various options and directions that we could take. Sonia did a great job representing me to the other lawyer that became involved, and we were able to arrive at a settlement that covered all the bases and rendered the situation something I could easily move on from. While I hope I don't need her services in the future, if I do, I would absolutely work with her again.

She helped us resolve a very difficult situation with a tenant. We were expecting litigation on both sides, but she calmly but forcefully got both sides to understand the other's situation, and worked out an agreement without litigation. We were completely satisfied and feel she did a great job.

I've worked with Shawa Mu for 20 years and in that time I can clearly say that she is efficient, professional, very knowledgable and experienced. The last point is extremely valuable to me as she has provided guidance and knowledge when no other lawyers/consultants have.
For example, we had a case regarding a H1B visa and she knew every single detail to know about H1B visas. She told us what to do, what to expect, and everything worked out exactly as she said it would. During the process I also talked to many other lawyers and consultants and the difference in knowledge was night and day.

Shawa's tremendous experience in immigration is invaluable to the success of our case. My wife and I launched a new vegan food business in May of 2018. Our first product went on the shelves and sold out quickly. We had waited for our first reorder before shelling out the money from our shoestring budget to register our Trademark at the USPTO. Huge mistake!
Some person applied at the USPTO for our Trademark just after our product went on the shelves, and two days before we attempted to apply. We learned a bit later, after some investigation, that they had no products, nor any legitimate proof that they actually intended to use the Trademark.
We quickly hired Jackson and he wrote them a cease and desist letter. Their attorney notified us if we paid them $15,000, they would be happy to withdrawal their application and go away. Your classic shakedown.
Jackson laid out all the evidence, making a strong case for our rights to and implied ownership of the Trademark. He is a true expert in Trademark law, using previous case law rulings that led their attorney, who seemed to possess little knowledge in this field, to quickly and dramatically lower their offer.
The USPTO is a system of nightmarish bureaucracy that allows even clear-cut extortion schemes like the one we experienced to thrive. Before I met Matthew Holland, I probably had one of the most confusing and sloppy divorce cases due to a crazy ex-wife that wanted money, to see me suffer, and take away my son. Matthew was my 4th and final lawyer on this extremely difficult case. I have learned, when one is in a litigation battle, it is necessary that you have all facets in a lawyer and law office. It is extremely difficult to find an attorney that knows the law in and out. Mr. Holland is accurate, thorough, fast at filing paperwork, and can dominate in the courtroom if the case is forced to trial. This guy did it all. Matt won an extremely difficult case and dug me out of a MASSIVE hole when I met him. He gave me my son back and my life. In addition to gaining my time with my son, Matt saved me from what could have been a substantial debt. It was super impressive to watch him work at his craft. He is an immense asset at Donahue law Firm in Bend Oregon. I owe a great thanks to Matthew Holland and his incredible paralegal Annalee Hoagland. I feel very fortunate to have come upon Matt Holland. I presented him with a complex employment contract with a medical group and hospital (25 pages worth of legalese), and he went through them point-by-point with me the very next day. He explained everything clearly, pointed out the 'draconian' parts, and reassured me that as a whole it was a fair contract. He charged less than average and yet I am sure my contract was reviewed with more care and close attention than it would have been at some big law place. Plus Matt was flexible about timing, and was willing to review the contract with me partly over the phone and partly at his office, even though it was late in the day. I looked him up on Yelp, and read his philosophy about law, and I must say, I am impressed by his professionalism and purpose. It's not every day you meet a lawyer who genuinely believes in the law and uses his training for good. This is not your stereotypical greedy or smarmy lawyer; this is a good guy. I hope I don't need an attorney in future, but if I do, I most certainly will return to Holland Law.

Kevin Lucey is an expert with dealing with these hard to deal with insurance companies. Insurance companies would be perfectly happy to offer nothing for someone in a personal injury situation and Kevin navigated and handled the claim in a timely and efficient manner.
I can't imagine having to try and deal with them myself. My gut reaction when I spoke with the claims adjuster was that they were going to try and screw me as best they could. Kevin knows how to deal with insurance companies and I highly recommend him!

Ben is an extremely proficient lawyer. He gives clear answers and doesn't blow hot air like most lawyers that are willing to work with cannabis clients. Leora has helped our company on a number of legal issues, but what sicks out in particular is her incredile knowledge of the Portland Sick Time Ordinance. The mandatory sick time laws are complex, but not for Leora. She also not only knows the law, she actually advocates for employes at the City....and she's made real positive changes for employers. How cool is that? It's great to have a lawyer that not only knows the law better than anyone else, but takes her own time to make it better.
Leora is also an attorney who can see the forest. When you ask her questions, she takes into account not jus the law but also the business side and the psychology of working with people. For example, I asked her for a policy that said employees could not have piercings larger than 2 mm or any facial piercings. Rather than just sending me the policy and letting me later realize it was a terrible idea in application, she asked me what I was ultimately trying to solve, gave me clear scenarios for why I wouldn't want the policy exactly as I had suggested (hello, ruler to employee's face to measure piercings!) and then sent me a policy that really works.

We were very pleased with Ms. Smith's review of my father's Estate Planning and Trust documents. She went over them all to make sure they were in line with the current laws, made some changes he asked for, and helped us feel secure, knowing that everything was in order. She only did what was necessary, and didn't charge us to re-write anything we didn't need done. That way we saved both time and money. I would recommend her highly. She can start from scratch to set everything up, or just do what you need, and not overcharge you.

My exwife and I have been divorced for 4 years. I met with Mr. Vergun for a half hour consultation as a result of a referral by the Oregon State Bar. I spoke with him by phone and emailed ahead of time of my areas of concern regarding a small business I am starting. There was technical statutory research that needed to be done for several questions. When we met, his answers were thorough and specific to my questions; however, he also provided related information that he thought might be helpful, and it was. I felt comfortable with him and confident in his knowledge. I expect to need more legal advice through the next year, and I intend to stay with Mr. Vergun as my counsel.
