Is very unprofessional for one Scott lied over the pettiest thing you could possibly lie about so from that i will never trust someone especially coming from a attorney. And he does not know how to answer questions. I hope people learn how scandalous this law firm is. And they like to drag their feet so they get more money which isn't professional. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Jennifer Smith was appointed to the case to represent the children. Despite giving her a police report where mother admitted to doing harm and numerous other strong evidence she wrote a bias report and intentionally omitted this evidence. But because she didn't take the stand she can't be questioned about her ethics on the case. (Sarcastic) Im sorry i didn't have another $20k to take it to trial to question you about your ethics. Now the kids have been removed from extra curricular activities by the offending parent. The kids were hurt by this attorney failure to represent them and withhold evidence from the court.

It will be four weeks Monday since CB was arrested for failure to obey lawful order. Aug 31 was a scheduled hearing and the jail did not take him and according to his family his name was called and he nor lawyer there. Cecelia was rude when I called her akd said he has court Sept 28th. To this date thwre has been no first appearance, no contact with suspect, and no discovery or even an explanation of charhes in Pottawatomie Prairie band court. Cecelia has ignored her oath and rights due to inmate CB.

I had a lawyer representing my case for the last two or so months, he has done absolutely nothing for me. Then he emailed me out of the blue saying “he didn’t work for that law firm anymore, that they would assign me a new lawyer.” It has been almost three weeks since then, and I have yet to hear from my new lawyer. They keep taking my money though!!! I have payed this law firm so much money, and have had no help. They asked for a hard drive of all the videos/evidence, that I had, I payed $80 for that hard drive, turned it in, and I got an email almost instantly saying they couldn’t open it. I asked why, what was the problem, and have heard nothing back. I have called my new lawyers office multiple times now, always having to leave a message. I have yet to get a email, call, or text back. This is absolutely outrageous, I am 22yrs old and a single mother. I don’t have money to keep paying this law firm, to do nothing for me. I am so disappointed, I don’t know how anyone has had a good experience with them.

Tom Lemon is by far a superior attorney. He’s honest, extremely intelligent and knows how to get things done. Mr. Lemon is very decisive and will ensure that as long as he understands the full story, he will do his best to represent you and your interests. I highly recommend Mr. Lemon or any of his other partners at this law firm.

Took about $6k of my money from August 2021 til I fired her in August 2022 because she neglected to tell me-amongst other things she didn't do-I had a hearing coming up. Told me at 4:30 on a Monday(when I went to pay her)that court for the next day(Tuesday)was cancelled. In reality-court was scheduled for that Wednesday. There was a Notice Of Hearing that she had forgotten to send me prior to that Monday. When she realized I was firing her-then she started sending me invoices with August dates on them showing that she had gone all the way back(in August)to May or June and billed me in August for emails she apparently just decided to go back and read as she had not billed me for these emails prior. How are you supposed to know what's going on with my case let alone inform me that I have a hearing coming up when you're not even reading any of the emails that I'm sending in a timely manner??? I had people telling me all spring to fire her for numerous things she was saying and/or doing that showed she had absolutely zero clue what was going on with my case-no matter how informed I kept her. Oh but now she's turning me over to collections. When I've emailed her asking exactly what she did for my case-she can't give me a response other than to tell me she's turned me into collections. Now let another attorney-that is also part of the good ol boys and girls system-come in and say that I'm trying to extort money from her. Who is really extorting money from who??? UPDATE....March 2024.....since the review was written-things have continued to go downhill for the person I hired Ms. Berger to protect(a 2nd individual) One thing that has occurred is the 3rd individual(I hired Ms. Berger to offer protection from for the 2nd individual)the 3rd individual had a domestic abuse case regarding the individual I hired Ms. Berger to protect. However all this woman wants is her money. So much for this woman looking out for domestic violence victims......

Not recommended It took him a year and 9 months just to finalize a child support modification and he didn’t even draft the paperwork, one of the parties finally had to. He never sent one billing statement showing how the advance was used in 2 and 1/2 years. Even when one was requested. He bullies the parties into agreements under threat of losing parenting time. In a 2 1/2 year period not one formal recommendation was sent to the court. He doesn’t look out for the best interests of the child. He has caused trauma, physical and mental harm to a 4 year old child with his arbitrary decisions. He does not do his due diligence. He says he’ll “look into” an issue when in reality that means he’s not going to do anything. He also says the case management process is transparent- it’s not. He will have one-on-one phone calls with each party which is contrary to his statements. He is untrustworthy. His word means nothing. He will tell you one thing and do something different. It is far better to get an intelligent case manager verses this supposedly educated one. Every colleague I have ever talked to speaks about how big his ego is. Thankfully the parties and their attorneys were able to agree that Bud Dale be terminated as the case manager. He has no business practicing family law.

My husband has been getting his paychecks garnished for almost this entire year. He owes them nothing now but they’re still taking out almost $200 from his paycheck. And nobody answers the phone or calls back. Ridiculous. Taking money from people knowing barely any of us can afford to survive in this economy as it is.

I contacted the receptionist and she failed to mention tthege consultantion fee, which on the internet ad, it lists Brenda does free consultations, thats false advertising. I was waiting and waiting for a reply from them when I decided to call, and thats when another lady told me receptionist was suppose to call me and let me know about the fee, which she obviously never did. The ad is false and they have bad communication.

What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
