My disabled aunt was struck by a pick up truck while walking across the street. On that chilly February day both our lives changed, as she would need someone to care for her forever. Over whelmed by the insurance confusion as she had recently moved from one state to another. So I was having to learn medicare, deal with 2 different states insurance while making sure my aunt had the correct medical care. Most people don't live when hit by a vehicle as a pedestrian, she lived but with a lot of surgery and time. All while still having to run my own life and jobs, Mr. Kraatz was my super hero. He stepped in front of the insurance steam roller and handled them. We were looking at over $400,000 worth of medical bills from so many entities I couldn't keep count. Mr. Kraatz spoke to me with compassion and allowed me to concentrate on what was most important, my aunts care. He also was compassionate with the man who hit my aunt, as he only had liability. So there was not enough money for all those bills and we didn't want to ruin someones life by suing him and putting him in a debt prison that he would never be free from. Most attorneys would have went for the throat no matter what, and Mr. Kraatz agreed with the decision and we let it go. He figured out who was the priority and handled it. I'm a believer and I know God will always provide for the means to care for my aunt. I'm so very grateful he spared her on that February day, I will gladly spend the rest of my life being her care giver. In an extremely stressful time I had a good lawyer in my corner, I highly recommend Mr. Kraatz.

Thank you for the sincerity and clarity throughout my entire process. I previously hired a different Attorney at start of my complicated case. I was hit by a truck in Downtown Fort Worth. After years of suffering, surgeries, and many headaches. I finally "saw light at the end of the tunnel". I'm so grateful for Ken and his staff. I was always notified of any changes and news, i was always able to express my concerns. I felt completely at peace with this attorney knowing he has a great heart. He's been a Guardian Angel in my life. I recommend him 110% his work is amazing.

First off, this is a real review by an actually person. I know a lot of places pay for these reviews, but Chris does not. So, here is my side of the story on how Chris' company Stoy Law Group won my case. You must know this about Chris before you hire him and his team. He takes BS from no one and especially other attorneys. He does not back down from anyone trying to push his clients around. I saw this personally many times. More on that later... I was hit by a guy in a company work truck who was texting and driving. To me texting and driving is in the same category as drinking and driving, and it is just unacceptable. I saw the whole thing happen in my review mirror. Still to this day I cannot get it out of my head. It plays over and over in my mind like a movie on constant repeat. I am really not a litigious person. However, I was pretty jacked up after the accident and I knew the person who hit me was at fault. Out of principle, and my unadulterated disgust for driving texters, I had to do something. I think ambulance chasers are a scam, and have no faith in them. So, what did I do? I did what you're doing right now, started reading reviews of different attorneys in the DFW (mainly Fort Worth) area. Came across Chris' site and after reading all the reviews, I went with my gut. One of the best decisions I have ever made. Why, because Chris and his team took care me from start to finish. To finish this long review up. I will list all the reasons you should go with Chris and his team: 1. Like I said earlier, Chris does not take BS off anyone. By the end of my case the other attorneys could not stand him, he was relentless. I loved this because I had a previous court case (not a car wreck) where two people could not be together anymore, if you know what I mean. Both of our attorneys knew each other and before the trail began, they were outside the courtroom laughing and cutting up with one another. This bothered me. 2. He has the absolute best supporting staff. His head paralegal Tracy is a freaking rock star. She is so professional and works so hard to make sure everything is perfect for his cases. Thank you, Tracy! 3. His office took care of all my medical bills. 4. I think it is too boastful to put on here how much Chris and his team got for me. However, what I will tell you… again I got all my medical bills payed. I got my car replaced with a newer one and got a good bit of coin in the bank that I did not have before. 5. Chris believes in right and wrong and what the justice of law can do for his clients. 6. This guy works harder than anyone I know. When I started the process with him. His number one piece of advice was... "Randy, you're an honest guy with the right motives. Be patient in this long process and we will take care of you". Wow, did he and his team not disappoint. I'll check this review everyone once in a while. If you response to this review wanting more details, then I will give you way to connect with me. That is how much I believe in Stoy Law group. Hands down the best law group for personal injury period.

Chris was so helpful guiding our family through the difficult legal process of a personal injury claim. He helped us feel comfortable with the terminology of the case and familiarized and prepared us for each step. It is hard to imagine the process without such a thorough and seasoned professional. I highly recomend Chris Stoy for your personal injury case.

I was involved in an auto accident where an inattentive driver pulled a U-turn across traffic striking and totaling my classic corvette and injuring my back. At first, I tried to work directly with their insurance but it was evident after two phone calls that they were not willing to compensate me for the value of my car nor my injuries. I contacted Rich at Trial Tribe and he walked me thru the process of obtaining a reimbursement for the actual value of my car. In addition, he provided recommendations for rehabilitation and examination services and obtained a fair compensation for my injuries. I am grateful to have the tribe on my side and fully endorse Rich and his staff for the outstanding service they provided

Terrible experience with Sarah particularly. My coparent withheld my ability to see my infant on multiple occasions, Sarah charged me for documentation that didn’t improve or remedy the situation; the coparent was not held accountable whatsoever. The response I received from filing the expensive paperwork Sarah’s firm advised was my coparent filing a false police report saying their vehicle was broken into implicating me for which I had proofs were 100% false (the vehicle was NOT broken into or tampered with and I was nowhere remotely close to area it was located at the time in question). I was required to meet at police stations following that accusation - know what the coparent showed up in?? The undamaged vehicle in question on the DAY FOLLOWING the accusation. (For the record, it’s supposed to be a crime in Texas to file a false police report). Again, none of it mattered when we *never made it to court* — saddled with $25k worth of representation debt (when the standard for family court settlements is ~$11k to my understanding), a hefty child support amount, and ONE day more than a standard possession as a non-custodial parent. I wrote her an angry, frustrated “who do you work for here?” email to which she felt the need to call me personally at 3 am having me tell her I thought she was the perfect person to help me with my situation or she would be resigning my case. Should’ve dropped her then and there. I’m an honorably discharged veteran, a former federal employee, an Eagle Scout, etc. I was up against someone with a an assault record. Continuously told her firm I wanted a 50/50 coparenting agreement and wasn’t trying to skirt child support because I didn’t think it would help my case. Not what was presented at the 2-3 court days we were supposed to have, I took off work for and made special arrangements for but didn’t actually “take.” We never made it to court - ended up in mediation with a RETIRED judge who didn’t read or pay any attention to the facts of the case whatsoever as his blanketed opening statement at mediation was - “I don’t care what the facts are here, I’m not taking any child away from his mother short of something drug related” - a determination based solely based on gender/sex. I did 90% of the talking during mediation; Sarah and her assistant sat there and barely spoke. I’m not an attorney. I didn’t get paid $25k to represent someone. Had no idea what I was doing. Sarah worked with the coparent’s attorney and came up with a 30+ page document that provides more coverage for my co-parent than me and I was billed for it; co-parent walked away from the case on a pro-bono basis. If I mess up, jail time and fines. If the co-parent messes up, there would be hefty court fees for me to enforce anything and then next to 0 repercussions for them. My coparent has been so empowered by how easy it was to walk over me that she has continued to violate the agreement (never missed a day with my son, coparent’s missed a plethora; coparent doesn’t send written updates when our circumstances change, I’ve had to; coparent moved outside the agreed upon living area, repercussions are supposed to be me becoming custodial, NOPE; coparent filed 2 more false police reports since implicating but not naming me to avoid harassment charges, nothing stopping them). If you’re a single father out there for any reason and are looking for help, know upfront no one (courts, attorneys, etc) cares about the dad’s rights or involvement in a child’s life. Since the resolution, I’ve struggled to make ends meet between the debts and my obligations. Think when I’m struggling to this degree that I can afford or would even bother going back to court to have my coparent “held accountable” for the violations?? Steer clear of Sarah’s firm; felt massively overcharged for the minimal support or intervention I received from them.

What a Car Accident Lawyer Can Do for You

A car accident lawyer specializes in representing individuals who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents. These lawyers help victims secure compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, pain and suffering, and other losses resulting from a car crash. They also negotiate with insurance companies, investigate the cause of the accident, and, if necessary, represent clients in court to ensure they receive fair compensation.

If you've been injured in a car accident - whether as a driver, passenger, cyclist, or pedestrian - a car accident lawyer can help protect your rights, navigate the insurance claims process, and ensure you receive the compensation you're entitled to.

When Should I Hire a Car Accident Lawyer?

Consider hiring a car accident lawyer in several situations, especially when the accident results in injuries, property damage, or disputes with the insurance company. Key situations include:

  • Serious injuries: If you’ve suffered significant injuries, such as broken bones, spinal injuries, or traumatic brain injuries, a lawyer can help you seek compensation for medical expenses, future treatment, and pain and suffering.
  • Disputes with the insurance company: If your insurance claim has been denied or the insurance company offers an unreasonably low settlement, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf to ensure you get fair compensation.
  • Liability disputes: If the other driver’s insurance company is disputing fault or claiming you were partially at fault, a lawyer can gather evidence to prove the other party’s negligence.
  • Wrongful death: If a loved one was killed in a car accident, a lawyer can help the family pursue a wrongful death claim to recover compensation for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and other damages.
  • Uninsured or underinsured driver: If the at-fault driver lacks sufficient insurance coverage, a lawyer can help you explore other compensation options, such as filing a claim with your own insurance company.
  • Complex cases: Accidents involving multiple vehicles, commercial trucks, or complicated circumstances require legal expertise to manage complexities and hold all responsible parties accountable.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help ensure that your rights are protected and that you receive the full compensation you deserve.

What Does a Car Accident Lawyer Do?

A car accident lawyer provides various legal services to help injured individuals pursue compensation for their injuries and losses. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Investigating the accident: Gathering evidence like police reports, witness statements, photos, and video footage to determine how the accident occurred and who was at fault.
  • Filing insurance claims: Assisting clients in filing claims with their insurance company and the at-fault driver’s insurer to ensure all necessary documentation is submitted correctly.
  • Negotiating settlements: Working with insurance adjusters to secure fair compensation for medical bills, property damage, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
  • Calculating damages: Determining the full extent of your damages, including current and future medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost income, and non-economic damages like pain and suffering.
  • Handling medical bills: Coordinating with healthcare providers to ensure your medical bills are paid and helping you avoid financial hardship during the claims process.
  • Filing lawsuits: If the insurance company refuses a fair settlement, the lawyer can file a lawsuit and represent you in court.
  • Representing you in court: Presenting your case before a judge and jury, providing evidence and witness testimony to prove negligence and your right to compensation.

How Are Car Accident Lawyers Paid?

Most car accident lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle your case. The key aspects include:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer’s fee is typically between 25% and 40% of the total settlement or award. You won't pay upfront fees; the lawyer's payment comes from the compensation they recover for you.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer doesn’t secure compensation for you, you generally don't owe any legal fees.
  • Case expenses: You may be responsible for certain costs related to your case, such as filing fees or expert witness fees. These are usually deducted from the settlement after the lawyer's fee is paid.

Discuss the fee structure during your initial consultation to understand how much you'll owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Car Accident Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a car accident lawyer is generally based on the contingency fee arrangement. General estimates include:

  • Contingency fee percentage: Lawyers typically charge between 25% and 40% of the total settlement or award. For example, if you receive a $100,000 settlement and the lawyer's fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $33,000, and you'd keep the remaining $67,000.
  • Case expenses: Additional costs such as court filing fees, expert witness costs, and administrative fees can range from $1,000 to $10,000 or more, depending on the case complexity.

Ensure you get a clear explanation of fees and expenses during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Car Accident Lawyer

Before hiring a car accident lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with car accident cases?
Confirm the lawyer has handled cases similar to yours, especially involving serious injuries or complex liability issues.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Understand the contingency fee percentage and any additional costs you may incur.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Seek an honest assessment of your case's strengths and potential challenges.
  4. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of the timeline for settling or taking the case to trial.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
Ensure you know who will be managing your case and their level of involvement.
  6. What kind of compensation can I expect?
Ask about the types of damages you may be entitled to, including medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

How to Check the Credibility of a Car Accident Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their bar status: Verify with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  • Review their experience: Look for specialization in personal injury and car accident cases.
  • Read client reviews: Consult platforms like Avvo or Martindale-Hubbell for testimonials and ratings.
  • Ask for references: Request contact information of previous clients willing to discuss their experience.
  • Check professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Association for Justice (AAJ) indicates a commitment to the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Police report: A copy of the accident report filed by the police.
  • Medical records: Documentation of your injuries, treatments, and medical expenses.
  • Photos and videos: Any visual evidence from the accident scene and of your injuries.
  • Insurance information: Copies of your insurance policy and any correspondence with insurance companies.
  • Witness information: Contact details and statements from any witnesses.
  • List of questions: Prepared questions about your case and the legal process.

Being well-prepared helps the lawyer assess your case accurately and advise you on the best course of action.
