I highly recommend Cassandra Snelling as an attorney. Her specialty is family law and she was excellent in her representation of me throughout my divorce process. Not only was she a great attorney, advocating for my needs and educating me on my rights, she was kind and compassionate.
One of the things I most appreciated about Cassandra was her excellent communication, her quick response time, and her ability to explain the process and answer questions in a manner that was understandable to me as a lay person, but without condescension. Mike did an amazing job in a very lengthy divorce which ended in Trial. Mike knew the case like the back of his hand, with 346 pleadings. Mike listened to what I wanted, This man is brilliant. My 2 children moved with mom 150 miles away during the course of my divorce, a devastating fact. I am now a man in Washington state who has primary custody. I am very grateful for Mr. McGrath.

Sadly, Heidi no longer works with Bennet Hartman, and is out of the Family Law business. When she was my attny, I had nothing but great things to say about her. She unfortunately came onto my case after the last hearing, but was extrememly helpful in navigating through the leftovers that my previous attny failed to complete. She is thorough, knowledgeable, kind and extremely professional. She even has helped with referrals long after we worked together. Thank you to Heidi for helping to change the face and reputation of attorneys. Now if we can just work on the justice system and the judges!!

I retained Amy in the hopes of spending as little money as possible to respond to a vexatious 'implied' domestic partnership lawsuit against me. Amy came through and helped me out with a Motion to Dismiss, and did not overcharge. Now my real estate lawyers are taking it from here. Very reasonably priced, very responsive, very no-nonsense. Highly recommended.

Yadira Ramirez is an excellent attorney. I was blindsided by false sexual assault allegations. Yadira was always calm, cool and collected. I felt she had my best intentions. She had a lot of patience when I got angry or upset because I didn't understand how the courts work, or how lawyers communicate with the courts, and also the laws. I felt more at ease once when she thoroughly explained how court proceedings take place. Although, I could not ever be fully at ease because of the implications in my case. We had evidence that showed my innocence. But even with that, I still felt anxiety because of how inconsistent the courts in America are. Yadira could have told me that I had a airtight case and that we were going to win in court. But she was honest and said that courts are unpredictable and that she can't guarantee a victory. Which I understand. But she also said that we do have good evidence and that would show favorably for me in court.
Court was set for a Friday, and on Monday my accuser decided she wanted a consent agreement. I did not know what that was, and Yadira thoroughly explained what it was.
The first draft of the consent agreement their attorney sent Yadira was bogus and unfair. Yadira told me to stand firm and not accept the terms. Yadira redlined the document an added language in my favor. Their side sent back another agreement, and Yadira once again said to stand my ground and not accept it...
So finally 2 days before we're supposed to go to court. My accuser and her attorney caved and gave in to our terms and a much more favorable consent agreement, which ended up in a dismissal of my accuser's restraining order against me...
I was extremely anxious and nervous the entire time, 3 months of absolute hell. Yadira gave me my life back and restored a little faith in the legal system. There are lawyers out there that 100% care about their clients and Yadira is absolutely one that cares.
I recommend Yadira for any legal matters regarding restraining orders.

Thomas Ybarra is a highly organized and knowledgeable attorney and I'm so grateful for his attention to detail when it came to my divorce proceedings. He was always honest with me about what to expect and also heard me when I told him what I wanted/needed. He was able to successfully argue my position for sole custody of my two children, secure me spousal support and child support, and negotiate an agreement that allowed me to keep my house. His attention to my case was constant and I could always get ahold of him when I needed advice. I highly recommend Mr. Ybarra's counsel if you are looking for representation in a divorce or child custody case. He knows the law and is able to explain how the process works. Ok, so I hired her for my Divorce because she presented well at our first meeting and showed empathy for my situation. However, that changed and she became very apathetic once we got under way. She also hired an incompetent QRDO person in which left me at a 250k loss. Not a positive experience at all. Choose very carefully.

She did an exceptional job handling my case. The moment I consulted with her, I knew my case was in great hands! I went through divorced and Mindy was recommended by a co-worker. She was very professional, consistent, and communicates effectively and efficiently. I didn't know anything about the divorce process and she walked me through it with so much knowledge and patience. I have hired James and met with James for consolations/advice for nearly 15 years now. I no longer live in the Portland area and I will call him first before asking any attorneys in my area. I truly trust him. He has the experience to show his worth but he also has the heart and genuinely cares for your situation. He still remembers things from 15 years ago about my case. He always made sure that I was getting the most out of what I could afford and I never felt like he overcharged. I owe him so much for everything he has done for me and my child. I was a very young single mom 15 years ago that could not afford much and I took a chance on James. I am so glad that I did. He really is the best. I am referring one of my close friends to him at this very moment which is why I came to write this review.

Brett counseled me prior to and during all of my divorce proceedings. He was great at helping me understand what was vital versus minutiae when it came to finalizing the parenting plan and divorce decree. He was prepared and also had me prepared with all of my financial, business, and personal documents needed for the mediation.
He had a great relationship with the mediator we used and knew how to deal with the personality types of my ex and her attorney. Brett has seen pretty much everything in the family law arena and has the humorous stories to prove it and help soothe you when the emotions start to get the worst of you.
Brett is a great person and an awesome family law attorney. You will feel confident using Brett for any family law matter you have. I know I did.

When you're involved in a highly litigious case involving your children, you are going to want Cambell in your corner. She was clever, extremely organized and thoughtful in her strategy, despite the sh!tshow we were up against regarding the opposing party. Cambell fought hard to ensure that our plan was in favor of the best interest of my child but also prioritized the things that were important to me. I also always had fun talking to her. When you’re going through a divorce, especially with children involved, you want someone to fight for you and always be on your side and the best interest of your child. It’s often messy, and can be the worst part of your life; you really need that person that will be in your corner. That’s Cambell.

He doesn’t care! He sees dollar signs and tells me I should sue my past attorney for what she failed to include in my divorce. Doesn’t even want to look at the bank statements and my husbands Quicken account with my son’s savings account numbers, and my account numbers, set for download and transfer… which he did. He doesn’t care that my husband abused and stole from my kids and I, prior to our marriage. This attorney is book smart. Immature at life. Talks down to me as if I’m a child; I’m at least twice his senior. Arrogant firm; arrogant attorney.

I hired Michael upon making the decision to leave a very devious partner. I knew the divorce and related custody, support and parenting plan issues would be likely result in a long and trying process. My goals were to stay out of court and achieve a plan that was in the best interest of my child. It was scary as I knew nothing about family law. I was put at ease the moment I met Michael. He made an effort to connect with me and understand the unique nature of my case. He was clearly a seasoned expert with issues related to family law. The road was indeed long, but ultimately successful. Michael and his assistant were always responsive and I felt as if I was their only client over the course of many months. Further, Michael was incredibly honest and enjoyable to work with. He expertly coached me in my negotiating, giving me confidence and, ultimately, results I was happy with. I also felt assured that if I had to go to court, he would be tenacious in his effort to get the results I cared about. I was more than surprised that Avvo did NOT post my prior review although it was factual, specific. Especially since there are virtually no reviews on this attorney.
Specifically, I spent 60% of my entire cost of divorce with Albert and made virtually no tangible progress toward any of the steps required to actually get divorced. Except for initial meetings with opposing counsel that produced no progress at all, we never got close to discovery, settlement conferences, mediation or, of course, court. I had to leave the firm due to the lack of progress in relation to a very large fee, $550 an hour at the time I employed the firm. What's more, Albert insisted that it was "cost effective" to have his paralegal in every meeting with him, adding nearly $200 more an hour. It was not cost effective. I ultimately had to leave the firm due to very little progress in relation to a very large legal bill. The attorney I transferred to was a 5* rated Martindale and Hubbell attorney who took me all the way through divorce with a satisfactory result for 40% of the fee paid to Albert's firm with very little progress. When I left, I asked if I might employ Albert if necessary as a consultant in settlement negotiation having had no experience with the new law firm. Albert said, "no." I felt it was spiteful in relation to my leaving the firm. I said in my last review and will say again, Albert did boast about his accomplishments in my time with him and in a meeting with opposing counsel. I thought this inappropriate, especially on my dollar. Albert is certainly a competent attorney. I feel, however, that there are many attorneys as competent at a far lower fee and I actually believe I got a better outcome with the new firm at a dramatically lower cost. I say I believe I got a better outcome because my result was better than the result Albert was preparing me for.

Yes we hired Erin and for two years paid her a lot of money, not even to go to trial, she left us abandoned after going with the other side she got paid and left us hanging to represent our selves in a very large custody battle, I would not suggest going with this attorney!

Erin is wonderful. I went through a very lengthy, messy, and litigious divorce and hired multiple lawyers. I wish I had Erin representing me the entire time. I would have likely not had to go through many of the additional and unnecessary court cases as she would have gotten the divorce agreement right from the beginning. When going through this process it is important to have someone who will guide you appropriately and actually care about the outcome for you- not just the amount they are able to charge you for erroneous court cases. Erin will walk you through your options and guide you through the process. While we did try to avoid court, it was impossible with the other involved party. Erin is thorough and tough and gets the job done. In my case our outcome couldn't have been better and I truly believe it is because I had Erin and her team representing me.

Kaori is a great lawyer and worked really hard on my behalf when I was getting a divorce. I had met 3-4 other lawyers before her and felt like she was the only one that really cared and listened intently when we met. Throughout our time together, she knew how to best communicate with me when I was feeling frazzled and was very patient when I need explanation. I felt like we were a team -- I knew my history/situation and she knew the law. As a result, we worked well together to make a strong settlement case. As things got more intense, and I often got overwhelmed, I was really happy to have her in my corner. She is calm, focused, smart, very capable and kind. This woman is a gift to any family she represents. I trusted her with everything I was fighting for (my family) and she not only delivered, she was honest, she was sympathetic and she provided absolute guidance in a world of chaos and pain! Brad Miller emailed me May 2 2023 in the evening and had an immediate danger hearing May 3 without serving me papers. He has griped that I emailed him when he has emailed me personally.

If you really want to stick it to your ex and you want that feeling that you beat them, this is the firm for you. This firm is effective! They will bend the truth for you in court and in numerous superfluous memos. They will bully your ex and drag out the process to ensure that your ex suffers. In fact, they copied me on an internal communication which showed that they will even lie to each other within their own firm. Now, when you come out of the divorce, they will have taken everything from you financially, but who cares when you succeeded in making your ex suffer and that their tactics make thing so toxic that you will hardly be able to co-parent with your ex in the future. To ensure this process drags out as long as possible, they will neglect to let you know that your ex has made offers to settle. For over two years, SKH will make no offers settle with your ex and they will encourage you to not accept any offers because why do that when they can make more money taking this to court. They have so many cases going to court that the judge rebuked SKH for delaying court for 4 months because they had so many court cases booked, but the judge can’t actually do anything to stop these grey area tactics, so it gives you more time to bully your ex! This firm will back you up and encourage you to take your ex for everything. And while this won’t let you move on with your life, who cares as long as you get to falsely believe that your ex is suffering more because of it. Thanks SKH! I don’t have anything left to pay you with anymore, but at least I can feel like my ex suffered.

If you are considering hiring C.J. Graves as your lawyer, I’d like to share my troubling experience working with him on a parenting plan modification which would result in a child support modification. Now, keep in mind, I have sole legal custody of my son.
Unfortunately, C.J. satisfied all of the opposing party's requests for the provisions in the new supplemental judgement. Nothing we discussed and initially agreed between parties when we “settled” out of court was included in the judgement, except for the 50/50 that I agreed to. The opposing party submitted the judgement that they drafted as final. C.J. submitted the response which was disregarded by Judge Bailey and he signed the opposing parties draft as final. This did not include ANY of the agreed upon/revised provisions that we discussed.
C.J. found out about this, called me and emailed me and said he wasn’t happy with the new judgment. However, he signed it without my knowledge and approval. From there, he was not able to discuss the damaging and inaccurate statements with opposing counsel. Not only did the child support modification not include the private health insurance I pay for my son, he also allowed the opposing party to include close to $800 in health care related expenses. He flat out told me he would get this fixed. That never happened.
He didn’t even get the other party to agree to edit the start date that the new parenting plan started. This resulted in a 3-month retro for the other party- which was a lie.
Either C.J. lacks knowledge of basic information on how to modify a child support payment and/or the ability to properly represent a client.
How are basic, fundamental, and true facts not incorporated in a new judgement when you have a lawyer representing you and these were specific things I had to ask him to change?
It appears that C.J. was very helpful in allowing the other party to achieve what they wanted. So, in essence, C.J. did not negotiate ANYTHING on my behalf. He did not do the work that I paid him for (negotiating and representing me) because the judgement says it all.
This resulted in an inaccurate monthly child support payment, and C.J. knew it.
There are additional factors that are influencing my rating and decision which I prefer to leave outside of this review. However, one of the most outstanding is his response time. I would not hear from him for 2 weeks, if not more. Part of his communications said that we shouldn’t “push it” or “upset them in any way,” if we wanted them to agree to consider changing anything (to the true information).
This was concerning to me because C.J. constantly told me that the opposing counsel didn’t call him back or reply to his emails. His inability to communicate with opposing counsel set me back and put me in a very compromised position.
C.J. was hired to negotiate and represent me. Unfortunately, I lost more than what rights I went in with, and he is very aware of this. At minimum to have the health care expense I pay for my son included in the child support calculator. I have always maintained health insurance for my son. Uninterrupted medical coverage.
The lack of timely communication left me wondering for weeks if anything was happening and or going to change. He also made deceiving promises about outcomes that were valid and realistic. I walked out losing and 100% unsatisfied. This was a clear-cut case, and C.J. did not do his job.
I truly felt neglected and that my case was not a priority for C.J. He was not able to achieve anything for me and the final judgement contained clauses that were never agreed upon. He was not able to negotiate anything for me. He even stated that in his conversations with opposing counsel, “We simply could not reach a resolution as to the issues”. Simply put, the other party was able to create a judgement that included everything they wanted (that was not agreed upon) and C.J. had no power to negotiate it.

I am a retired businessman. Robert Scherzer is the worst employee ever. Robert Scherzer heads my list, as the most horrible person I can imagine hiring, to represent me in a legal matter. Early on, in my custody hearing, Robert complained that he doesn't sleep well at night. I figured out his problem. He doesn't sleep well at night because he sleeps all day in court. I also asked him if he would take my direction and ask the questions that I wanted him to ask. He agreed, but failed miserably. Despite his encouragement, that I had a 75 to 85% chance of victory, he lost. Then, he informed me that WE may have left ourselves open to some opposition attorney fees. I am thankful that I fired him and represented myself, in the attorney fee hearing. I think I was infinitely more convincing than he would have been and was able to limit my losses. After this debacle, I asked my 90 year old mother to describe Robert Scherzer's performance. Her one word response was "PANIC". I completely agree. I also sincerely accuse him of excessive billing, for his ridiculously poor services. No stars! Refund owed!

Robert is the best attorney you could possibly hire. He is compassionate, empathetic, a great listener, and very calm. My case was very complicated and there was only one case in the entire country that paralleled that of mine. From the start Robert encouraged me to take the high road against my ex-husband. Our legal strategy focused on how I had always been and would continue to be the primary parent, and not on debasing my ex-husband.
