Failed to respond in a timely manner. Showed very little or no conviction. Had to remind her what this case was about several times. She was unable to provide any legal argument. Worst legal representation possible. Wasted thousands of dollars.

I've used Julie for several years now and am very pleased with the service she's provided for me in my very challenging post-divorce cases. Having a difficult ex-spouse isn't easy, but Julie handles it very well. She is brutally honest with me and I appreciate that about her. She's friendly, knowledgeable, witty, aggressive, and trustworthy (I know that's not usually a word we associate with attorneys). I really feel like I am in good hands, and that takes away some of the stress and anxiety of being in these circumstances.

Julie was amazing throughout the whole divorce process. She made every step of the way smooth by explaining what would happen next. She is prompt at returning emails and phone calls. Julie does her research and keeps up with current laws and cases. Julie is always open to ideas and work through issues. She is willing to hear her clients out and work with their ideas. Having children involved, she knows the law and works for the best interest of the children. Even since my divorce was finalized, I have been able to contact her with questions and concerns about my case. I would highly recommend her!

The team at RMRK provided us with the absolute best experience possible through a bad situation. They were extremely professional and well organized and explained all aspects of the legal strategy and process that we were going through. They were very fair to work with and obtained the best outcome for our family. We would highly recommend them to others and would work with them again in the future if needed.

I went to this law firm and asked if they had a criminal attorney. I found myself at 56 years old needing a criminal attorney because of a lie from an ex-girlfriend. I went in the receptionist said yes we have a criminal attorney that works for us. His name is Randy Fisher. Met me on a Sunday charge me $5000 flat rate I paid him in cash. I was short $460. They let me know within three days that I owe them more money. It wasn’t quite 5000 in cash. I immediately went in and paid it. Eight weeks later I was arrested while he was my lawyer and he told me I had nothing to worry about. I hadn’t seen my ex in 12 weeks. Randy Fisher told me I did not need to be at my first pre-trial that he would handle it. He then called me right after court started and said you need to be here. I was wrong. The Jud said you have to be here so I raced to the courthouse. By the time I got there, it was all over and talk to me outside the courts The next five pre-trials Randy postponed Because he had other clients that he had to deal with, he told me he was out of state during free trial On the fifth one, they denied the continuance on the fifth trial that he tried to postpone while he was in Disneyland with his Family He called me on the phone and told me I had a warrant for my arrest and it was his fault and he would take care of it not to go home until he called Then put me up in a hotel, which he paid for While in the hotel, he was on the phone with me pissed off that the courts denied his request after five other pre-trial extensions Because of him not me, I wanted this over with I am immediately Went and hired another attorney and had to spend $10,000 I told Mr. Randy Fisher that I hired another attorney. He got pissed off at me and charged me 5000 more dollars for him to stay on his attorney and he had to be lead attorney. Seems like he was more worried about being Tony then being my attorney and doing his job instead of postponing everything that came my way while he handled his NFL clients I went to his office at least five times complaining, but I didn’t think he was being a good attorney for me They told me that he doesn’t actually work for their company, but that is not what they told me when I went in. They had a criminal attorney. On Staff I went in and complained to the receptionist many times she said Randy kind of flies by the seat of his pants, but he’s got you Randy Fisher damn they got me killed in my front yard when the police came to arrest me after he said he had everything taken care of with the DA his words exactly I would never recommend this. They don’t what they say. They double their charges in the middle Of the case after giving you a flat rate. Then they his office did nothing but make excuses for Randy Fisher I’m putting this out there so nobody else gets screwed over by this company What cinnamon over within a year has now dragged to three years because for one year and 9 1/2 months all he did was continue continue continue telling me time was on my side Randy Fisher‘s words exactly Then he told me because they held me at gunpoint at my front yard. I would become a millionaire by suing the police How inaccurate he was again Also, I go to Michigan, Michigan, Michigan a lot I have a boat he told me not to ask for permission just to go and don’t get in any trouble. My second attorney I hired told me don’t ever leave the state again without the courts permission. He then asked the court if I could go to Michigan, my second attorney did and they said absolutely not. Mr. Johnson is not to be out of this state Randy told me I did not have to ask the courts permission. It’s easier to ask forgiveness than ask permission his words exactly. He. Let me go seven times to Michigan when that could’ve been a prison sentence itself. I highly don’t recommend this company They did nothing to help me. My second attorney had everything taken care of within 30 days of hiring him Randy two years nothing but continuances until they finally started denying his continuance because he asked for so many so he could handle his nfl Clie

She’s incompetent at practicing law and loves to tell you what you want to hear. I wouldn’t recommend her to represent anyone in traffic court much less anything of substance. Rachel represented me in my sons paternity case. She was a such a blessing during tan extremely confusing, hard and sad time. I was postpartum, stressing out and had a million and one questions. Rachel made time and answered each one of my questions honestly and professionally, even when it wasn’t what I wanted to hear; she was extremely consistent, helpful and informative. The office staff (Nicole specifically) would respond and follow up when Rachel was out of town and was very helpful as well. I am very grateful for Rachel and Hocker Law. Having to pay for your lawyer's time before you hire them seems a bit weird. What if don't like them or don't accept your case they waste both your time and money now. I guess they don't think they are that good and need that money. They also think their time is far more valuable than yours as the response below implies.

I have never had to hire a lawyer in my adult life. When I needed to find a lawyer within 72 hours I panicked and didn’t know what to do. I went on google and typed in best lawyers practicing family law near me. Larry among six or seven other lawyers came up. Believe it or not the reason I picked Larry is because he was the only one willing to talk to me without an appointment. I didn’t understand why a lawyer wouldn’t want a quick rundown of what you are looking for. It takes two minutes to listen and see if you are interested in representing me. Then I would make an appointment, come in, and go from there. Fortunately Larry had the same thought pattern as me and willingly spoke to me for about ten minutes. We made an appointment for the next day. I was in a very bad time bind. I had less than a week to try and win full custody of my niece. My brother passed away about 14 years ago when she was six years old of a brain aneurysm. I found out she was in a terrible situation. I’m not gonna go into details. She had to be removed from her bio mother‘s house immediately. Larry went above and beyond putting in emergency orders, asking for emergency court dates, hearings, motions, ect. He also went above and beyond doing things he wasn’t paid to do. He was on the phone with the Munster Indiana school system on a daily basis for about a week helping me get my niece registered. I cannot get her Registered without proof that I was her legal guardian. She had already missed two weeks of school while I was waiting for the judge and courts to go through the process. In the meantime Larry or his amazing secretary Stacy B. was either calling and talking to someone at the Munster high school, emailing, writing letters, verifying information, etc. They had to work miracles and jump through hoops for me to get my now adopted daughter registered in school. (Not that this is relevant to my review but trying to register a child in the Munster school system is ridiculous if the child isn’t your bio child. I had my niece living with me for years and had all the proof in the world. Since I was not her legal guardian Munster high school would not let me register her in school, even with bio mom’s permission! Even after Larry contacted them via email, phone, and chain mail, telling them/showing them proof I had a court date for guardianship and I was her legal caretaker and they still wouldn’t let me register her!) Larry got very upset at this point and filed for an emergency hearing and luckily we got it! A week later she was in school. I have already rambled a lot so I will wrap this up. Larry was very kind, considerate and caring. He went above and beyond what he was supposed to do, he made me feel very comfortable and answered all my questions. he promised he would get this done in a very short amount of time and from the first conversation until the judge granted me full guardianship it took less than two weeks. His prices are very reasonable. I can’t remember exactly how much I paid it was over $900 but under 1500for sure. I just want to add a year and a day from me receiving guardianship I legally adopted my niece and became a mother for the very first time. I still don’t feel comfortable saying that I’m a mom, but I love it until now. I had no children by choice. Thank you, Larry.

If you’re looking for a compassionate, helpful attorney- run the other way. Once I was 3 minutes late for a scheduled call and he refused to take my call. Prior to a court hearing (which I flew into Indiana to attend) he couldn’t meet to prep. Okay, I understand overlapping obligations could make meeting difficult but when I suggested a 15minute phone call instead, he oblected. The final straw came when toward the end of my divorce I owed him$500 and even after I give him thousands and had a pending settlement he refused to take any of my phone calls.

Giving Jane 2 stars as she has the potential to be a good lawyer however when she represented me in 2022 as a Keffer-Hirschauer attorney I was disappointed on many occasions . Jane completed a lot of work last minute, which might have been the result of Keffer-Hirschauer overloading their attorneys with too many cases. Regarding spousal maintenance, Jane wasted months before asking the court for a hearing on spousal maintenance, and Jane did not follow through with the request once filed. Jane recommended signing certain financial agreements without communicating the possibility that future hearing dates may be rescheduled or extended, which lead to me being left without funding for many months. Lastly, a few weeks before a scheduled mediation and final hearing date Jane was either fired from Keffer-Hirschauer or left Keffer-Hirschauer on her own, (I have not been given a reason for her departure from either side) which then extended my mediation and final hearing, left me in a desperate financial situation and resulted in an exorbitant amount of legal fee's as I had to start over with a new lawyer.

I hired Nicole to help with family law matter. She showed up for important dates but was unresponsive to emails, calls and texts any other time. Sometimes I wouldn't hear from her for a month. She seems extremely busy with her personal life which is fine but she shouldn't be practicing if she doesn't have the availability to help her clients

I hired Nicole to represent me in a legal matter. I am very dissatisfied with her services because of her lack of knowledge & experience. On multiple occasions it took Nicole days & sometimes weeks just to respond to a text, email, or phone call. She works a full time job & tries to practice law on the side which interfered on the time she could work on my case. She caused unnecessary stress on me & my family because at times she really didn’t know what she was doing & got in way over her head. I would definitely recommend anybody to do your research & hire a knowledgeable attorney with years of experience. Overall i think Nicole was a nice person & tried, but I my only intentions was to hire a knowledgeable attorney that can get the job done with minimum stress which she did not do.

Mark was very sensitive and thorough when we were dealing with a sudden death of a our mother. We quickly had to organize and put our grief aside and Mark was extremely sensitive and caring throughout this process. He made everything very easy to comprehend and kept in constant communication while we figured out next steps. Hopefully no more morbid excuses to use him but would definitely use again in a different (hopefully) circumstance.

I had Ashley represent me in a custody case. She did not do a good job. I never felt she was on my side. I felt it was strictly about money and none of my billing was correct, even the dates were wrong. I finally had enough when she more or less called me a liar.

Unfortunately, I found myself in need of a family attorney. Fortunately, I retained Allison. Allison is an amazing attorney who exceeded my expectations. Allison has not fulfilled her obligation as my attorney. I hired her in March 2022 and it is now August 2024 and she completely ignored my case, will not return my calls to get my case closed. Now I am struggling to get this done or dismissed to start over again. She accepted my money and did not complete her obligation. She did not give me proper advice and is not responding. I am not the only one she has done this to. Just check google. I can’t even find her to sue her!

She was appointed by the court to be a Gardian adlitem for my son when he was 16. She was paid for services (we had 30 days to complete entire payment). She interviewed me 1x and kept just pushing it off. MY SON TURNED 18 & she still hadn't/hasnt filed ANY reports Not 1. I wish I could tell the courts ABSOLUTELY do not appoint her to b a child's only defense because the court system & Her both FAILED my son so miserably.

I hired Mr. Veazey for a high conflict divorce with a history of abuse toward myself and child in September 2023. Lee seemed personable, too personable as he removed his wedding band laid it on the conference desk and proceeded to tell me that he was not married; that he only wore the ring to deter women. He then shared how he remembered me from our children's daycare, down to the car I drove though I had no recollection of who he was. Later I learned from another former client he did the same thing to her as well as winking and etc. During scheduled teleconference’s Mr. Veazey would sit in silence, when asked if he was still there he would reply “I’m just thinking” with not much insight given and seemingly uninterested. 4 months after the initial filing I still had not had a court date or temporary child support ordered. Living in a hostile environment with my now ex ended with a protective order against him. We did get a court date at the end of January (at the request of opposing council). At this emergency hearing Mr. Veazey was ill prepared. In the hallway he mentioned to me incorrect information pertaining to the case that I corrected him on. During the hearing itself he then almost introduced that same information as evidence to which I had to write on our notepad that it was incorrect. He did not show that he had any familiarity with the evidence provided, or as to what opposing council would be presenting. Opposing council ran the hearing while Mr. Veazey was reading though printouts and writing down things to ask the witness. During his cross there was a long uncomfortable pause as Mr. Veazey had nothing prepared. He leaned to me and stated that he was stalling. We had been there with my ex on the stand for 3 hours and none of our evidence had been introduced, courts were about to close for the day and we hadn’t discussed the important topics. The last 7 minutes were used to finally discuss visitation which was supposed to have been stipulated as supervised and recommended at the parenting center however his unpreparedness left no time to introduce the abuse that had occurred and visiting was ordered at my exes parents home every other weekend. March I still had not received a court order from the January hearing. Now 6 months Into the divorce. After multiple requests for updates and an order for clarification on the visitation I finally received an email that included a letter to opposing council for my approval that had incorrect information in it. I did not approve the document to be sent but then was told that it already had been. I requested a teleconference with Mr. Veazey but after a law enforcement officer, an unrelated attorney, and a former Veazey client all told me I needed new representation (putting it nicely) based on their experiences and my concerns I canceled the conference and terminated his employment. I requested my final invoice and learned that funds had been misapplied to my account and that previous invoices had been incorrect. Leaving me with a larger than expected (or earned imo). I also caught that his rate had increased in January although this had never been related to me other than the initial documents state that fees may increase usually at a firm level. I did dispute that this was not adequate to be “informed”. The office did after a month of my reaching out resolve the issue and update the invoice to the agreed hourly rate. I was hesitant to terminate as I didn’t know how I would afford a new retainer at another firm but I have zero regrets. The new attorney was prorated for mediation in less than a month and was impressively prepared. I met with her once and saw her once before mediation. We walked out of mediation with my ex voluntarily terminating his parental rights. Get the right attorney and if yours like Mr. Veazey try’s to tell you that things are standard— find a new one.

Lee was hired for dissolution of marriage and to obtain sole custody of my niece. From September-January there was no progress but it was always the other sides fault…. Upon hiring Stephanie Brinkerhoff through Steven Dieg’s firm, she was able to obtain sole custody of my niece, with all rights signed away by adoptive father, and everything else that was requested. She did this in a matter of 8 hours. After waiting for 4 months with Lee Veazy with nothing accomplished. Lee gave the impression sole custody was impossible with Indiana’s parenting time guidelines and 50/50 was the best possible outcome. He should be ashamed to even charge for his ‘time’. He didn’t take any of this as seriously as it should have been taken. Just another case. Extremely poor communication and he seemed very ill prepared at the initial hearing. Ms. Brinkerhoff came in extremely prepared and even discovered $250k+ in entitled funds that Lee never mentioned. If you need a great attorney to get the job done, get Stephanie at Dieg’s!

as a single mother raising 4 children it took a long time to save the money to afford a lawyer.....I ended up with less insurance coverage for my children and all in all left after the court date with less than I'd been given in the divorce for my children. His conduct was poor and his attitude was like I just owed him my money for showing up....and doing nothing to help me. Id waited seven years to take a dead beat dad back to court and this lawyer was the worst person I could have picked for the job.

Started great, but ended bad, she gave up when I really needed her. She is knowledgeable about getting lots of paperwork through the court system costing you lots of money, but not getting much legal ground work done. I wasted a lot of time and money, she did me a great favor by quitting on me. Her fees are reasonable, but she knows how to squeeze out every billable minute. She loves to drop a bill on you just before trial to keep you on the hook. I found a another attorney who quickly took the case in the right direction, at a 1/4 of the time and money then Ms. Clar did. New attorney used a method that Clar never even discussed that won my custody case, even though it is an area she advocates. So glad we parted ways!

Great attorney. She tells it like she sees it. She doesn’t hold back. I went through an ugly custody battle and she was amazing. Her rates are reasonable. You get better service and cheaper rates with Wendy than you would with these larger firms. She understands every situation different and is willing to work with you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I hired Michelle to represent me in a case involving my son. She ignored my wishes regarding visitation and sought out a settlement. She talked me into settling moments before court by presenting it to me in a set of dates and times that I could not calculate quickly enough. Then, in court, it turned out that we were agreeing to exactly what the other party wanted... And exactly what I explicitly stated I did not want. I had had sole custody of my son since birth and I am a great mother. As a result of these actions, I have now lost half of my time with him. In addition to that, she failed to send me the documentation that was drawn up for custody. I was held in contempt against that agreement and am now facing a trial for complete physical custody of my son. Michelle was not efficient with communication at all and she was scared to walk into a courtroom and defend me. My family has gone through much suffering as a result.

What a Child Support Lawyer Can Do for You

A child support lawyer specializes in legal issues related to the financial support that one parent provides to another for the upbringing of their children. These lawyers assist with establishing, enforcing, and modifying child support orders, ensuring that the financial needs of the child are met, including housing, food, healthcare, education, and other essentials. A child support lawyer can also represent parents in disputes over the amount of support, ensure fair calculations based on income, and handle legal proceedings if one parent fails to meet their obligations.

Whether you're seeking to establish child support, modify an existing order, or enforce payments, a child support lawyer can help you navigate the legal system and protect your rights and the well-being of your child.

When Should I Hire a Child Support Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a child support lawyer when you need assistance with any of the following child support matters:

  • Establishing child support: If you are going through a divorce or separation and need to establish a child support order, a lawyer can help ensure that the support amount is fair and accurately calculated.
  • Modifying child support orders: If there has been a significant change in circumstances, such as a job loss, income change, or a child's financial needs, a lawyer can help you request a modification to the existing child support order.
  • Enforcing child support payments: If the other parent has failed to make court-ordered child support payments, a lawyer can help enforce the order through legal means such as wage garnishment, property liens, or even legal action.
  • Disputing child support calculations: If you believe the child support amount has been incorrectly calculated based on your income or expenses, a lawyer can help you challenge the calculation and seek a fair adjustment.
  • Paternity disputes: If paternity needs to be established before child support can be ordered, a lawyer can assist with DNA testing and legal proceedings.
  • Interstate child support cases: If the parents live in different states, navigating child support laws can be complex. A lawyer can help ensure the proper jurisdiction is established and that child support is enforced across state lines.
  • Child support during custody disputes: If child custody and child support are being determined simultaneously, a lawyer can help ensure that both issues are resolved fairly and in the best interest of the child.

Hiring a lawyer early can help ensure that your child support case is handled effectively and that your child's financial needs are met.

What Does a Child Support Lawyer Do?

A child support lawyer provides a variety of legal services to help parents secure, modify, and enforce child support arrangements. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Filing for child support: A lawyer can help you initiate the legal process to obtain a child support order, ensuring that all necessary documentation is submitted and deadlines are met.
  • Calculating child support: A lawyer can help ensure that child support is calculated fairly based on both parents' incomes, the needs of the child, and other factors such as healthcare and education costs.
  • Negotiating child support agreements: If both parents are willing to negotiate, a lawyer can help facilitate an agreement on child support outside of court, which can then be approved by a judge.
  • Representing you in court: If negotiations fail or the other parent contests the child support amount, a lawyer will represent you in family court, presenting evidence and making legal arguments to support your case.
  • Modifying support orders: A lawyer can help you file a request for modification if circumstances change, such as a loss of income or an increase in the child’s financial needs.
  • Enforcing child support: If the other parent is not making court-ordered payments, a lawyer can take legal steps to enforce the order through wage garnishment, property liens, or other measures.
  • Handling complex cases: In cases involving high incomes, self-employment, or complicated financial situations, a lawyer can help ensure that all relevant factors are considered in determining child support.

How Are Child Support Lawyers Paid?

Child support lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work required. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Most child support lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location. The total cost will depend on how much time the lawyer spends on your case, including preparation, negotiations, and court appearances.
  • Flat fee: For more straightforward cases, such as uncontested child support agreements or basic modifications, some lawyers may offer a flat fee that covers all services related to the case.
  • Retainer: Many lawyers require a retainer, which is an upfront payment that is billed against as the lawyer works on your case. The amount of the retainer depends on the expected complexity of the case.
  • Sliding scale or pro bono services: Some lawyers offer sliding scale fees based on income or provide pro bono (free) services in cases where clients cannot afford to pay full legal fees, especially when children’s needs are at stake.

It’s important to discuss fees with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will be charged and what services are covered.

How Much Does a Child Support Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a child support lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, whether it's contested or uncontested, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost estimates include:

  • Uncontested child support cases: Legal fees may range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the paperwork and the lawyer’s fees.
  • Contested child support cases: Legal fees can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, especially if the case involves significant court time.
  • Hourly rates: Lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour for child support cases, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases that involve complex financial issues.
  • Modification or enforcement: Fees for modifying or enforcing a child support order may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the complexity and the need for court intervention.

Always ask for a detailed cost estimate during your consultation so you can plan your budget accordingly.

Top Questions to Ask a Child Support Lawyer

Before hiring a child support lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they are the right fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with child support cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s establishing, modifying, or enforcing child support orders.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, offers flat fees, or requires a retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and any potential challenges you may face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Child support cases can take time, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last and what factors may cause delays.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of the case. Make sure you know who will be managing your case and representing you in court.
  6. What documents should I prepare?
Ask the lawyer what financial documents and other information you should bring to help them calculate child support and build your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Child Support Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable child support lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for family law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in family law and have successfully handled child support cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on child support matters.
  • Check for certifications: Some lawyers may have certifications in family law or membership in organizations like the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), which can indicate their expertise in child support and family law issues.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a child support lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Income documents: Bring pay stubs, tax returns, W-2s, or any other documentation of your income and the other parent’s income, as this will be used to calculate child support.
  • Existing child support orders: If there are any existing child support or custody orders, bring copies for the lawyer to review.
  • Child-related expenses: Provide documentation of your child’s medical bills, education expenses, daycare costs, and any other expenses that should be factored into the child support calculation.
  • Communication with the other parent: Bring any communication between you and the other parent regarding child support, whether through emails, text messages, or written agreements.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions about your case, the legal process, and the lawyer’s fees.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
