I am so glad to have had Laura Thudium as an attorney as I entered the collaborative approach to a dissolution. She brought a network of professionals who have a depth of expertise to deal with the intricacies of sorting the end of a marriage. We were assisted by a financial advisor, a home loan facilitator, a pension fund expert, and a loan company versed in dissolution financing.
The legalities of a dissolution are deep and baffling. Laura was in constant contact while we worked through the process. When all the information was finalized our petition was accepted without a hitch. Laura was so efficient in the use of her time, that there was a pretty good chunk of my retainer left. Woohoo!

I've known Laura since law school, and I refer my friends and family to her because she knows family law (particularly divorces and child custody) so well. She won an award in law school for doing the best of anyone on the family law exam. She has a thick skin and doesn't letter anything phase her in the courtroom, which is really what you need in a lawyer.

I hired Mr.Scott last minute during my trial because my state appointed attorney had no trial experience. Mr.Scott not only took my case but got me a great deal with the prosecutor, that my court appointed attorney couldn't get. He was always responsive to my calls & text messages. I rarely had to wait more than 48hrs to get a reply. If he didn't know, he found out. He's professional and has the capability of seeing your situation on a personal level. Was recommended to MGH by another heavy-hitting lawyer that retired. I asked for an aggressive men's rights lawyer, and that's what I got.
Melissa and her staff were very attentive and timely with everything. Email, phone, text, filing... all throughout my case, they were on top of it. They were incredibly honest with realistic expectations of outcomes - there was no sugar-coating. But where they really shine is knowledge. More than once, Ms Graham-Hurd and Ms Black had to correct and/or explain the law to the Magistrate/court staff/opposing counsel. Brian represented me many years ago in a high conflict custody case. I went through my share of lawyers and was almost always disappointed. I got to a point I didnt know whom to trust. Brian is an exceptional lawyer. He was amazing. Sadly, I didnt win my case, but he worked so hard for me and he was so compassionate and understanding with me as I went through the toughest and lowest time in my life. Fortunatley, it is all behind me now. It's been years and I still think of him fondly. And remember how well he treated me during a time that SO many in the justice system treated me poorly and judged me unfairly. Mr. Gottfried handled my case for three years now. My son’s mom filed to reduce my time, which we had 50/50 for the last seven years before she filed. Meeting with Mr. Gottfried for the first time I knew he was my guy.
He is very prompt in returning calls and e-mails and I can say this promptness has not dropped the slightest over the last three years (even on his days off). He made sure when the trial date finally came that we had everything lined up to negate everything she filed plus things that could come up in trial so we were ready to present them to fight. He makes sure you are prepared for any questions and have evidence to back you up.
We have gone through a magistrate appeal and now seven more months later it is looking like she will appeal the judge’s decision. Not only did Mr Gottfried have a rebuttal for all of her bogus claims, we actually asked for an additional over night to which it was granted.
When this is dragged out over three years so far, there are times to which you question yourself. Mr Gottfried would reassure me and talk me down from those times. He is honest with you, some attorneys are there to collect a check, but not him. He gave me his opinion when I asked, based off his career in these cases, but also said it’s up to you Brad.
I cannot say enough about him or give him the praise he deserves. I have referred friends to him because he is the best…period!
If you are in need of an attorney for custody cases, call him. You will not be disappointed, trust me.

I had contacted dozens of lawyers to help me with my (contested adoption) case, they all had turned me down until I found Ryan Kuhn. Ryan and his assistant, Jen, were very understanding and compassionate but yet professional and reasonable as they helped me file for divorce from my husband of 30 plus years. One of the first things Ryan said to me was… “ I am more expensive than a counselor, so if you want to chat about things not directly pertaining to the case, I will steer you back on track….but I recommend it is healthy to go seek out a counselor to help you emotionally get through the divorce.” Right from the start he was very conscious of a budget and kept things moving that were important to the case. He reminded me that somethings could cost more in attorney fees than were worth proving. Where I wanted to achieve something based on the principle of it, he steered me back to the cost that would be sacrificed to get it.
The divorce was complicated by the fact that I had put my career on hold to be a stay-home-mom to several children, allowing my husband to advance his career with the federal government and have all the perks related to early retirement eligibility, federal employee health benefits (FEHB), a government pension and a generous government matching Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). Although I had the same college degrees, education level, previous federal employment, and had recently picked up non-federal employment, I did not have the number of years to be eligible similar benefits. I counted on Ryan to weed through the confusing government rules and regulations pertaining to government “Spouse Equity,” “Survivor Spouse Annuity,” and “Federal Employees Health Benefits.” When my husband was adamant that he did not want to provide for the Survivor Spouse Annuity, Ryan was able to appeal to him and his attorney to have it provided because of the long marriage. Whatever Ryan did not know, he found out. He also has access to professional paralegals (at rates less than his) who are experts at dividing government retirement and TSP accounts based on individual cases. Ryan leveraged their information and guidance in preparing the court orders for the retirement division and the TSP division. Ryan is highly knowledgeable of the government retirement-type issues and an expert in the preparation of court orders specific to government retirement plans.
Although there were no longer any minor children, my case was further complicated by many other things, to include stock being held for an elderly parent with the intention that it would be returned to her if needed for her health care, multiple bank accounts, brokerage accounts, credit cards, student loans for a couple children, pages of personal belongings, hotel points, airline points, hidden cash, hidden trips, hidden debt, an adult child still in college-tuition, a house mortgage, a timeshare, multiple cars, some of which belonged to children, a dog, healthcare, dental and vision for adult children under the age 26, and the desire to be able to obtain federal healthcare when needed for myself.
One of the best ways to describe Ryan is that he has the mind of a chess player. He was always thinking one move ahead, and the topic of alimony comes to mind here (pros and cons)…. You’ll have to ask him.
Did the divorce cost more than expected? … Absolutely! But I am the reason for this. I can be wordy (this is probably the longest review on his page) and my emails long, but Ryan patiently answered every question, reminding me along the way to trust him, and that my wordiness and multiple questions would cost me more. I did not care because he was providing me with information which gave me peace of mind. He also obtained something that three other attorneys told me could not be done (ask him!). He is excellent, worth every penny.
Lastly, it is not in my nature to write reviews. I have made this one exception because Ryan and his assistant, Jen, deserve kudos for a job well done. A sincere Thank You Ryan for accomplishing the near impossible. May your practice thrive!

We live in another state and she helped us get custody of my husbands son who was living in Ohio in a terrible living situation with his other parent. Situation: My son lives in Columbus, & his minor son lives in Akron. My son got notice his son was in a bad situation with his mother, & he had to fight the maternal grandmother for custody. To be honest, I came about Ms. Staats phone number desperately trying to find a lawyer for my son on just a few days’ notice. We weren't local, and Ms. Staats was the ONLY lawyer not only to answer the phone herself, but to take the time and talk over the situation with me, AND agreed to be in court in just 3 days’ notice! Wow! She really came to bat for my son. While the other lawyer resorted to "Jerry Springer" type tactics in the court room, Ms. Staats countered every low blow statement and ridiculous motions with a professional attitude coupled with a mother tiger's ferociousness in protecting my son & his rights, and his son's best interest. Even the mother to my grandson said "I don't know where you found that lawyer, but WOW! She wouldn't let mom's lawyer get away with anything. She's impressive!"
Elisa was responsive to emails and calls when her scheduled allowed, and always got back with us. It took 10 LONG months for my son to get custody, several hearings, pretrials and motions, but really, we got every pennies’ worth of professional representation from Ms. Staats and her advice to follow during that time. When it came down to trial, she brought with her TWO of the biggest organized binders of categorized evidence and information, questions for witnesses etc.. And was VERY prepared to go to trial. Our family, & our son was extremely impressed at the detail of her work. We thank heavens that Elisa Staats was that one lawyer who answered my desperate call for help that day. Now my son has his son living with him again & they both are so very very happy!! (And so are we!) We feel Ms. Staats was overly fair in her cost, & she was always upfront on any fees or potential future fees/costs that could happen. We also feel that she did NOT "nickle and dime us" on everything, we got more than our money's worth hiring her to represent our son and his son's best interest. Elisa Staats was our angel for my son's case. Our family cannot say enough awesome things on Elisa's behalf. We were blessed to find her.

I have known Jimmy for a year now as he has handled all aspects of my divorce, one of the roughest I have experienced, winning the case with minimal damages at the end. He even keeps the other lawyer in check if they are on the opposing side, several times over the course of my divorce he swooped in like Zoro keeping things fair and professional. What can I not say about the guidance Jimmy provided me during my 4 year long debate/divorce. Things weren't going well in my marriage and a friend suggested I reach out to Jimmy and I did. We had previous history together, but not under these circumstances.
He invited me to his office and spent well over an hour with me explaining the entire process. Jimmy was patient, as I attempted to save my marriage time and time again, till I knew it wasn't going to work no matter what I did, as it takes 2 people to make a marriage work.
Jimmy offered to represent me and my interest and suggested for me to reach out to my wife to address all legal proceedings
to use him to cut out court and legal representation fees as much as possible. Jimmy's goal is wanting the best for both parties during this trying time in our lives. She chose her own counsel which is fine.
The thing that sticks out the most to me was his guidance throughout this process. Paraphrasing: "Tempers are going to flare and ugliness may come out at any point. You need to be in control of your response/reactions as best as you can, always! You only have one divorce and how will others remember it? It's important not only for you, but for your daughter. The both of you will be forever connected because of your daughter. Watch what you say and if you need to leave before you do something you'll regret, do it and call me, anytime. Your daughter and her mother will thank you when she gets older."
Jimmy represented me well throughout the entire process when I was unable to attend court on certain occasions. I would recommend Jimmy to friends, family and even strangers who want to have a great aid/advisor during a challenging time.
My divorce is complete and my Ex and I have a great respect for one another. We communicate regularly and openly as we put our differences aside and give our attention to our young daughter who needs both of her parents.

My divorce was just final almost a year ago. It was a difficult situation with our business involved. Denise ALWAYS looked out for me. Prior to my initial meeting with Mr. Kaufman, I had discussed my situation with two other attorneys neither of which felt they could handle my case. I usually never write a review or give excellent ratings unless it well worth it. I am not the type of guy that logs on and reviews product or services. This, however, is my exception.
I was in the Marine Corps when Mr. Kirkland took my divorce case in 2012. I needed a lawyer to represent me in court because I could not attend any hearings, due to my military obligations. Mr. Kirkland not only took my case (and even though we didn't have a chance to meet face to face) he was able to fully complete my divorce decree in court.
Fast forward two years later. I had another crazy summons by the ex-wife (figures). Once again I need a lawyer and decided to go back to Mr. Kirkland for legal advice. Not only did he remember me after two years, but he once again took my case and fought for me.
Mr. Kirkland is an excellent lawyer at a reasonable price, and I think the most important part is that, he is military friendly. He always gets back to you and keeps you informed throughout the whole proceedings. To all my military friends out there, I highly recommend him.
