Mr. Kruse was always straight with me on my options. I first met with him when considering divorce and I didn’t follow his advice and failed to file sooner. So I hired him when I needed to fix things. He understood my case and my concerns and continued answering questions after our case was closed. He took ownership when his paralegal made a mistake (her replacement was great!) and he dealt with abuse and drama from my ex’s attorney with complete professionalism. I hope I don’t need to, but I’ll hire him again if I need further action on our latest decision.

Brian started out strong for the first month... talked a big game. He then stopped replying to emails and phone calls for several weeks. He was supposed to file two motions but never did.... didn't care that my wife was not allowing me to see my son. Was also charged for work and time that wasn't done.

I met Brian last year, and the circumstances of my case were very hard and difficult to deal with. Let me say this, Brian was easy to work with, felt like he had my back from the day I retained his services. Let me give you a piece of advice when dealing with Brian, always tell the truth no matter what. If you give this man and his firm the truth and information he will fight for you and do the best job he can! I never lied to Brian i told him the truth about everything. He assured me over and over to trust him and while sometimes it was hard, Brian and his firm knew what they were doing. He assured me it was a marathon and not a sprint but to stay the course. It was the longest 12 months of my life but being a religious man and having Faith in God and in Brian I knew that I would be okay. As opposing counsel and my ex tried to use false restraining orders to gain the upperhand over and over, Brian tore them up and showed the truth! The thing that I admired about Brian that you don't see hardly anymore is that he would never take a shortcut or lie to gain the upperhand. He did it the old fashion way, hardwork and using the truth! He never once tried to take a fast shortcut to gain the upperhand, he just assured me that we needed to trust the system, and show the truth and put the work in and everything would be okay! Again easy to work with him and to set a plan. As time went out and Brian and I were able to show the truth to the court and the parties involved appointed by the court it was deemed that I should be awarded full custody and that I had the best interest for the children. That's my story in a nutshell, and to tell you where I came from and where I ended up Brian and his firm worked their tails off and got me custody of my kids! Their was times I spoke to Brian at 11 pm at night to have my mind put at ease or to go over my case, sometimes on the weekends, he always returned calls and emails. As a matter of fact my mother just passed away and after the custody and divorce was over he still reached out to me to let me know that he was sorry for my loss. I haven't had a lot of dealings with lawyers but I assure you of this he cares about his clients and he fights for them! I went from only being able to see my children based off lies from my ex to getting full custody as he fought hard for me. While I may sound like a broken record here, I am trying to show you the reader who may be looking for a lawyer that will fight for you, Brian is the man that you need to use! Thank you so much for your help, your partnership in walking with me as it was the hardest time of my life, but thank you! I am very thankful and when I looked you in the eyes and shook your hand I meant what I said! You took care of me like family, I won't forget that! I first came to know Melissa Gast in August of 2013 when first confronted with the reality that I was getting divorced. Initially electing to represent myself, I found that I could handle everything coming at me just fine, and really benefitted from being a thorough, reasonable, logical, and analytical person. Then, my soon-to-be ex-wife made a series of adversarial decisions that resulted in false accusations, extensive private and police investigations, open-court lies, and everything one could imagine facing in a worst-case scenario. I selected 10 attorneys to interview within the Columbus area, each one of them highly referred by friends, family, and/or legal professionals. I found Melissa Gast on Avvo and she became #9 on my list - with #10 being a stalwart in the field. MY thoughts were that if none of the first nine made the cut, attorney #10 would have to be the one for me. Covering allot of ground in just two days of my search - I came to the conclusion that none of the first eight attorneys were well-suited for the job.
On the way to Ms. Gast's office, I was enveloped with a sense of foregone defeat, and I even dialed the number of attorney #10 on the way and told her I would be to her office in the next hour. I almost cancelled my appointment with Ms. Gast, but decided to see it through as she was the only attorney on the list that I had picked myself.
Meeting me at the door of her small office, Ms. Gast exuded confidence and compassion. I quickly realized that I did not like the used-car sales floor feel I felt meeting with each of the first eight attorneys. Ms. Gast warmly and efficiently moved through a series of inquiries to gain an appreciation for my situation, my life, my family, my personality, and my goals for this term of my life. Taking close and attentive notes on paper as we spoke, she not once lost track of our conversation and I never felt as though I was "just another client". After about 30-minutes of emotional dumping and factual offloading of information, Ms. Gast demonstrated one of her key strengths as she brilliantly recapped our conversation in perfect form and with emphasis in every correct place, demonstrating her ability to listen, think, feel, and work at the same moment.
Cutting to the chase - Ms. Gast stood at my side and represented me with heart, skill, and diligence throughout the entirety of what turned out to be a 33-month divorce and custody war fraught with a multitude of false allegations involving child abuse in what was termed to be a relentless string of allegations of the worst kind that was brightly capped with nearly 12 days of trial. I asked for one thing - for Ms. Gast to protect me and my relationship with my son. Ms. Gast delivered in EVERY regard with poise, and now that the dust has cleared, I find myself with full custody of my little boy (he was 2.5 yrs. old at the outset and 5.5 yrs. old now) and a bright and safe path ahead of us. Not once did I feel like a number or a case or a job. Rather, I was intimately involved and encouraged to participate and contribute to my own defense as Ms. Gast tailored her approach to meet my expectations and stomach for the war... cookie-cutter is not what this attorney offers her clients.
You can spend a great deal more by hiring a marquee name or an attorney with a scorched earth approach to your life if that sort of thing makes you feel good and you can still sleep at night. You can file all kinds and sorts of motions and replies and challenge every micro-nuance of every nuance and
even believe that mythical story about recouping the legal fees when it is all over via some type of award or judgment. But, if you want to preserve your assets and dignity while protecting your family - and especially if you value honesty, integrity, loyalty, compassion, diligence, truth, skill, professionalism, and legal acumen - skip the marquee names and the egos and schedule a consult with Ms. Gast as soon as possible.

My 11 yo son was living with his mother in a mentally abusive environment; very unhealthy and dysfunctional. Melissa was able to not only win permanent sole custody for me after a three day trial (over a year after our motion), she recommended based on this situation to try for an immediate Emergency Custody Order. Although that almost never is granted, we won it thereby saving my son from over a year of incredible stress that would have surely occurred had he stayed with his mom while permanent custody and residence was decided. She is very thorough, knows the law well, thinks of the details that wind up making a difference, writes compelling arguments in her motions, know how to create a line of questioning that gets intended results in a succinct way, is quick in a trial situation to exploit opportunities with pointed questions and is very easy to work with. She came recommended to me from another prominent lawyer in a different field and she couldn't have done a better job. For my money, I wouldn't use anyone else.

Melissa Gast was hired into my child custody case with myself and husband. Him and I were still married but separated and seeing other people. I know that sounds strange but we were married two more years because of selling our home and etc and all he did was fight me in court. My ex took my son from my mother's one day while I was on a job interview he took my son to his then girlfriends home it took me forever to locate him I was devasted. He then moved again with his girlfriend and the address was given through the court system. He would say I was on drugs and I had to take a hair test and I passed it. He then had Melissa Gast appointed to the case through his attorney. Since she came in later hearing all the horrible stories she first ordered my son have supervised visits at my mother's house and he couldn't stay with me at my boyfriends. Then it went to unsupervised visits but my son would have to spend the night at my mom's during overnights then Melissa would call my mom and ask questions about how I was doing and random weird questions about my boyfriend. But it was OK for my son to stay with my ex and his then girlfriend at their second place of residence. She even told me i needed to stay at my moms with my son on the overnight visits and not have my mom watching him my attorney advised i did not have to stay there because this was causing alot of conflict with myself and my mother. Custody arrangements and days were changed multiple times through both our attorneys and Melissa Gast doing nothing but confuse my son. I finally got my own place in hilltop west side area thats all I could afford because my ex destroyed my credit. I could tell she didn't find it as appealing as where my ex lived in hilliard. My son told her he was afraid to live there because gang bangers and drug dealers lived there and over a window that was cracked. I had the whole house remodeled painted floor redone new furniture etc I was so upset because he just came out and said these things when I know he was told by his dad to say these things about my house because he doesn't even know what that stuff is. Over the course of time my ex and his girlfriend would deny my phone calls to my son lie about days and times of sporting events then make a mockery to other parents spreading lies about me when I would go to pratices. Then I actually was able to go to games when I got a schedule from another coach because my ex was the football couch. These people constantly harassed myself, my family, my employer, slandered me on social media. The girlfriend even showed up to my divorce and within a month they were married tells you how crazy this other woman really was. They made up lies about myself and boyfriend posting sexual ads on Craigslist to make us look like horrible people and we didn't. I ask Melissa Gast to show me the proof she never did. She upset my boyfriend in phone call interview by asking about the Craigslist post and ask about his sexual orientation and etc then when he told her she was out of line she apologize 3 times. After all said and done she granted him more custody school placement and etc. Then he would never follow the child custody agreement we had in place. At the divorce hearing my retainer was completed with Melissa and I was going to eventually owe her more money that my attorney was going to have my ex pay. I guess I had a bill but she never sent it to me and the judge at the divorce asked her have you been paid she responds yes so it was closed. Melissa Gast then emails me a 600 dollar balance I said what are you talking about I had paid her about 1300 dollars in about 6 months plus I was paying my attorney. She sent me the bill in an email 6 times in a row. I turned her into the bar association with no help from them. She thought my son was in the best interest if his dad. He now has moved to Florida with his wife for a new job he put in a request no judges signature and just moves! More court. Beware of this lawyer!

Atty. J. Chamberlain was excellent to work with. He is knowledgeable and made it a point to keep me informed on my case when necessary. He was very prompt in returning emails and voicemails and explained my options in great detail. He had a tenacity that I was impressed with and truly had my best interest in mind. He did not cave to pressure from opposing council or the court and made sure I was treated fairly and respectfully. Another thing I liked about the firm is their system of accountability. Atty. Chamberlain consulted with a senior attorney regularly just to get another set of "eyes" on my case. The services at Cordell & Cordell are well worth the cost.

Attorney managing my cases left the firm. Now I have two ongoing cases with no support after reaching out, and was sent the bill. Little action was done on the cases prior as she said she would get to it-but never did- but now its starting to be too long after waiting several months, and now I have no POC. Do i need to find a new attorney? Will the things she said she would do get done? Feels like I'm just a client lost in the grey space.

Decided to try this Lawyer again because I thought maybe the first time was a fluke. Nope not at all. This Lawyer isn't concerned about you and doesn't care for you at all. I called at 4:30p recently on a Friday. She told me she was with a client and to call back in 20 min. I called back in 20 min no answer. I left a voicemail no reply. I needed help and this lawyer was no where to be found.

Retained Mary in mid-2021 for a divorce (without children), easily the worst decision I made. Not only was she completely uncommunicative with me (we had scheduled a specific date to file, once that date came, I heard absolutely nothing from her), came to find out she completely ghosted my ex’s attorney and the attempts he made to reach out. I ended up having to retain other representation which created unnecessary delay. When I emailed Mary to tell her I would no longer be needing her services, she sent a bill with trumped up charges for emails and communications that never actually happened. She’s lucky I didn’t report any of professional misconduct to the board (despite my new attorney advising me to do so).

Hired them for my divorce. They seem to purposely drag things out to rack up a huge bill. I ended up losing much more than half of my assets, pay an extraordinary amount of support, and barely see my kids. I would have done far better with any other firm. They are an absolute joke.

I was recently a client of Nancy Jamieson. I was facing a possible life sentence, over a lie. When I first found out
about the charges, I watched my life pass before my eyes. I even contemplated suicide if I were to be gone the rest
of my life. I have a little girl and the thought of not being in her life was impossible to even think about. With the

be gone today. I am able to continue to raise my daughter, share all the milestones with my fiance. I can enjoy being with my

I recommend Ms. Jamieson 1,000%. My son was looking at life in prison. My son is in his early 20's, and the circumstances surrounding the case did not look good for my son. But the case he was fighting he definitely didn't do, and it was his word against the other person. Nancy went in that court room and went above and beyond what I expected out of an attorney. She saved my sons life, out of 12 counts, 3 were dismissed, and the other ones came back all not guilty from the jury. Coming from a mother I would trust her with no questions asked, with any one of my kids lives. Now if you want someone who is going to tell you what you want to hear, she is not for you. She is a straight shooter no BS. She tells you exactly how it is whether you like it or not, and does not sugar coat anything. This is what I appreciate about her the most. I see its not just me; if you don't have money for lawyer (isn't that part of what they do) you're pretty much screwed. I got one return phone call that told me they couldn't help me....Lawyers don't come cheap i understand that, but it's irritating when 'legal aid' who also don't really help you, refer you to the bar association just for them to also tell you they can't help you. I met with attorney can from this firm in july 2016 for an hour after calling twice on the phone. After the hour meeting, attorney can told me he cannot represent me as the defendant was being represented by someone who rents office space from them. He even told me he went downstairs and took a folder from said defendant and gave it to his attorney. Now the same defendant hires attorney kratcoski. After being made aware of the conflict and seeing phone logs, i described the office and i knew they rented space to troy reeves which is not public knowledge, he refuses to withdraw. This is very unethical. I have reported him to portage county ethics committe and was already told this is a major ethical problem. My attorney has been trying to get attorney kratcoski to withdraw now for over a month. He refuses. Today he was supposed to send errol can, a partner to a hearing to get this situated and instead, he files a motion to continue. I believe that attorney can and this firm met with me to get inside info on my case as they saw alot of my evidence in the hour we met so they can represent the defendant with insider info.
This firm is extremely unethical to refuse to withdraw from a case when You have already met with the plaintiff and then decide to represent the defendant

Juliette is competent and knowledgeable. My biggest disappointment and frustration was the way she handled my case. There were 2 instances where she appeared in judge's chambers with my former spouse's attorney that I found out about after it occurred. I was not kept informed until very late in the proceedings as to what was going on and how she was going to handle the situation. Her assistant always made sure the invoice was sent on time, but responding to my voice mail or email messages took days and sometimes over a week would go by before either of them would answer my questions or concerns. I did a lot of research on my own to defray costs, like checking on my former spouse's pension and did spreadsheets showing how much money I had spent over the years on our children's education, living expenses, my ex spouses legal bills, etc. to prove how negligent he had been over the course of our marriage. All they (my attorney and his) seemed to focus on was how much money I made and how little he made despite the fact that he has been and is still a pot user and that is why he was habitually underemployed. The verbal, mental and psychological abuse I suffered seemed to not even matter so I finally gave up and paid on a settlement which means he won and I lost. At least I'm rid of him now but I truly felt like my attorney and his attorney just decided to wear me down and get it over with.

I contacted shelly in December of last year for a divorce with children case . I have a very HCBM it was very much a slam dunk case of parental allienation I was told multiple times I would get full custody my ex filed divorce already previously and I was never served so she just responded to the filed case . Initially shelly said she would take payments and once given more than half of retainer she wanted full payment to proceed so we gave full payment and still had to wait till the deadline for existing filed case which was March 20th. My ex never got a lawyer went against temporary orders multiple times and harrassed me the entire time and filed a bogus CPO to avoid a contempt of court . Shelly was supposed to communicate with ex but refused and I was forced to do so which didn't help any . The day we went to court for contempt the magistrate and my lawyer decided to finally do the divorce trial instead as there were no assets to be divided just parenting rights . Shelly failed to file my HC parenting class so I was not able to argue full custody and got 50/50 instead with the cpo dropped ans no child support. my divorce was finalized in November well supposed to be..just waiting on divorce decree and new court orders. The judge gave shelly 30 days to file which gave deadline of December 5th still no divorce decree has been filed, phone calls are ignored, they are being sent to auto voice-mail or picked up and hung up. when I was able to speak to receptionist I was told shelly is having staffing issues and is in court everyday finishing up cases they already had. ive never seen any other staff besides the receptionist, bette who does majority of Shelly's work ive also been given this same excuse since the beginningof time. Ive written emails which have stopped being responded to asking for a deadline and a date at which the divorce decree will be filed, with holidays and the end of the year I have NOTHING to show of my divorce I'm still paying child support and this bogus CPO is still over my head which I really dont care for since I don't wish to have contact with HCBM but prior I was going to the range at LEA as a stress reliever which I legally can't do with a CPO filed on me . Shelly is unprofessional, neglectful and a waste of money . For the representation I was given I could of did a better job myself and kept my money. I will be filing malpractice with the bar association with my concerns after reading many reviews of Shelly's she clearly does not put her best effort in cases for men who may not have the biggest wallet this was a slam dunk case and it's over but shelly refuses to file divorce decree in a timely fashion and is now avoiding any actual response and has neglected my case . Save your money & go else where with your business and your case !

I was represented by Anna Bates in my very sticky divorce and she represented me flawlessly. I had a Tentative Order issued from Magistrate Sanford which was about 95% of what I wanted and only issues the Magistrate could not decided on where left. Anna said that this is the best Tentative Order in a contested divorce case she had ever seen (and she was not tooting her own horn); it was the best and I was awarded sole custody and $2,500/month child support and my ex husband was placed on visitation. I was managing my child with ADHD and it was very difficult with a husband who left me for another woman and wanted to take every thing and our precious child and move his new girlfriend of two months into the house. Hired Anna Bates to administer a trust for my ailing grandmother. Anna led me along the process, and seemed very knowledgable. However, when we arrived in court, Anna Bates showed up looking as though she had not slept in 3 days. Her attire was grungy, stained and no pressed. She seemed confused when the magistrate asked questions pertaining to the case, and struggled with some questions. It was later determined by the courts that Annas representation of the trust was questionable at best, and put me in a position to explain some very difficult questions. Sent an itemized bill (after I secured other representation after our first court debacle), and bill included various services which didn't even PERTAIN to the case. I'm not sure if she was trying to pull a fast one, or if she got my case confused with another. Could not reach anyone at Annas office (which I believe she runs from home) to discuss. Ended up paying entire bill.

My case was unique in Ohio. As a WA state grandma I was seeking visitation for my granddaughter. I chose Virginia through the internet. Always Virginia was very professional and very thorough. She mostly answered the phone herself and kept me on track; she was always available and sometimes with the three hour difference in time it was difficult for both of us. If she couldn't reach me then she would email promptly. I ended up stepping down from the case; knowing that we would most likely win; however the situation itself became a no-win situation. As in the beginning so was the ending, an honest, forthright attorney. I was never sorry that I chose Virginia to guide me through this journey. Thank you.
