I had a very cantankerous case with Mike that meandered through the Family Court system for several years, and I couldn't think of a better attorney to have by my side. He has an great understanding of the laws (obviously), but more importantly the intricacies of the "system": the policies and procedures the Courts and Judges follow in the administering of the cases...this may seem insignificant, but generates many opportunities to grab the upper hand in negotiations. Most importantly, he commands respect from the Judges and the Court system, as they know he has a deep reservoir of knowledge/understanding and is a very respectful presence in their courtroom.
Mike is good at devising legal strategy, and explaining the possible outcomes of your case (he can't, after all, predict the way the Judges will decide on this issue or that). He presents his cases not with fiery oration, but with the technical skill of a surgeon.
On top of all this, he's a great guy, and I believe he doesn't take cases unless he believes he can make a difference.

A lost characteristic in many these days is the ability to listen, especially in difficult and emotional circumstances. The idea seemed wonderful—when a couple decided that their marriage should be dissolved, all parties would work together to achieve a non-adversarial, respectful, peaceful resolution at reasonable cost.
I was referred to the law office of Sheryl T. Friedrichs by family financial advisors for just such an experience. My spouse’s attorney, however, while wanting to stay out of court, was not familiar with the concept of Collaborative Divorce and not interested in undertaking a face-to-face interactive process.
Thus began a hybrid version of separation and property settlement negotiation. From my client viewpoint, trust by the other side was the primary issue. What were my personal motives? How much did I care about the opposite party’s outcome? Where were the resources each would need to continue a safe and comfortable single life?
It made sense that traditional legal representation would take a cautious approach. Extended time and patient, conscientious effort would be necessary to remove obstacles and reach agreements. Sheryl’s collaborative mindset, though not always reciprocated, made all the difference. As the process continued, progress accelerated and confidence was built.
In the end, a document was crafted and accepted by both parties which would make the actual divorce a formality. Working with Sheryl Friedrichs was collaborative in the best sense—people working together in good faith to a mutually beneficial finish.

If you ever find yourself in need of a knowledgeable, trusted divorce attorney who takes the utmost care for your interests, I would highly recommend contacting Ms. Sheryl Friedrichs. I acquired her services to help me navigate the minefield of an unwanted divorce. She was compassionate, well-qualified, and most helpful in walking me through the process, providing adequate time for reflection so that I could make sound decisions that were in my best interests. In handling my case (mind you I live out of state), there was a night and day difference in the handling of the proceedings from that of the opposing attorney. This restored my faith that divorce lawyers are not all cut from the same cloth. Ms. Friedrichs did not miss a beat. She was always organized, prompt and courteous. She followed through on every commitment from researching court files and spotting my ex's complaint and affidavit inconsistencies and errors which she promptly addressed to representing my at the refinance closing of the shared property with my ex which involved the added security of ensuring the mortgage was paid and paper receipt was delivered to me. I knew from the start that I had found the best resource to represent me. Ms. Friedrichs' conduct was most ethical and in an exemplary manner, which is consistent with the character and values that I hold to. I'm pleased that I was able to come through this process without the stressors that so many individuals have to endure in stormy season. Simply put, Sheryl Friedrichs' lives up to her commitment and values.

I got into a bind and was reluctant at first because of prices. I saw Mrs . Lacy H online and after already seeing great reviews I decided to reach out via email to discuss my case. Mrs. Lacy was very understanding and was very willing to negotiate my price as well being that I could have well spent over 1,000 is dollars I ended up paying only roughly 5-7 hundred. After a few emails back and forth she was very straightforward and helpful regarding possible outcomes and reassuring me every step of the way and showing up promptly to my case. I did not have a positive experience with Ms. Kelley Cash during my prenup consultation. Ms. Cash was indifferent - she did not offer any acknowledgement of my upcoming marriage and instead criticized the late timing before the wedding. I was eager to get the agreement finalized and tried to move forward with her services anyways. I never received any follow-up communications. It was a waste of my time and money. I am glad I found another attorney that offered superior services and legal expertise.

As an Alamance county resident, I had a hard time finding a family attorney in the Wake area that I was comfortable with. After doing some thorough research I came across Jake Terrell, and pick him because of his great reviews, dedication and knowledgeable background. Jake has represented me in 2 cases within the year and has been able to get me the results I wanted BOTH times. The second case was extremely rare and when I spoke to Jake about it he was super eager to handle it. I could tell he put in the work the day of court because he handle it with flying colors! He made everything stress free and was extremely helpful.. not to mention everything was a short notice, yet Jake had no problem showing up! I hired Mr. Allen in 2019 while I was going through a separation with my ex-wife that ended in divorce. This was a very stressful, unpleasant and overwhelming time of my life. My ex-wife was making false accusations and asking for everything I had to my name - I needed help quickly. Mr. Allen explained everything to me...his strategy, how the law works, what to expect, best outcome, worst outcome - he was always pretty quick to respond to my calls, texts, emails, etc. I was extremely pleased with the outcome as we settled in mediation and the settlement was one that I thought was fair and that I was happy with. If it were not for Mr. Allen's zealous representation I fear I would have been clobbered and taken for everything I had. I absolutely recommend Mr. Allen for any type of family law case.

Scott keep it honest from the start and gave me great advise. He started helping me in 2014 and I had a bad start after losing the first case with my first Lawyer. Scott was doing such a great job with my friend I had to give me a chance which is something I would not regret. Scott understands the law very well and will help anyone that is willing to help themselves. He helped me get custody of my son so if you think it can't be done then you really should talk to him. I hired Scott, when I was going through divorce child custody, and a lot of false claims were filed against me. I interviewed several lawyers and hired Scott, as I felt comfortable with him. He listened to me patiently and went through the court documents. I asked him to explain the process and he did explained what I should expect next. His paralegal James is certified paralegal and is superb in what he does. James helped me with the initial documents and the process.
Scott has a great document management system. Whatever documents I gave him till now, he never lost those and had those when we needed them. Scott asked me whether I want to settle or go to court. I wanted to go to court and he went with it. During the initial hearing and all the subsequent hearings he fought for my rights and presented my case diligently and proved the claims by the other party to be false. Most of the lawyers, will tell you settle as it saves them and the court time, but it might not be always in your best interest. Scott is not those lawyers, he really cares about his clients and is not afraid to litigate or fight for his client’s right in the court.
My case went through the approximately 15 months with different hearings etc. All these times, Scott has treated me with respect and did his best for my case. Divorce and custody cases are hard, as these drain you emotionally and financially. A lot of lawyers will try to linger your case or will try to charge you excessive amount of fees. Scott never tried to linger my case or charge me inappropriately.
The most important thing is, most lawyers will be nice when they have to take your case, but when the going gets tough and difficult in the divorce case or custody case; they would ask you to look for another lawyer or will ask to be excused from your case. Scott is not such lawyer; he is there for you from the beginning till the end. He is well reputed and well respected among his peers and in the community. He’s been practicing family law for over 20 years. Throughout my case, I had peace of mind that I have best lawyer looking out for my case and who is not afraid to go extra mile for my case.
Scott never promised me the moon or the stars; he always said he will do his best as the case outcome can’t be guaranteed. He did his best. In all hearing, he gave me more than ample time for the trial preparation. He always answered my emails promptly, despite his busy schedule. One time, I had to visit my child out of state and I had driven 7 hours one way and the other parent won’t let me see my child. I immediately contacted Scott and he immediately contacted the lawyer of my ex and that allowed me to see my child the next day. It was a weekend; most lawyers won’t respond to you even if it’s emergency situation on a weekend. That single action by Scott, earned a lot of my respect and regard for him.
I would highly recommend Scott Allen for anyone looking for the best lawyer for Child Custody, Alimony, Divorce & Separation and for family law related matters. If you ask me, who is the lawyer who will stand by you from the beginning till the end, who will be around through your roller coaster ride of the Child Custody, Alimony, Divorce & Separation etc., I would say Scott Allen. He truly cares about his clients and is one of the best lawyers.

As someone who unfortunately has had to deal with 4-5 lawyers in the few years this was by far my absolute worst experience with any attorney/firm. Can’t recommend enough to get a different consult and get better advice, would never work with them again.
The strategy here seems to be to take clients to court and to drag things out as long as possible to wrack up billable hours. From this from I paid over $10k for a divorce case that almost went to trial, until the firm was late on giving me needed disclosures to complete - when I changed attorneys almost instantly got the case out of court and saved a ton of money and got what I wanted.
Attorneys here couldn’t seem to care less, they are arrogant and will give you bad informaron to keep your case going to trial. Total waste and huge regret wasting any time and money here.

Clifford law firm was to represent my son in 2 counties both wake and sampson. He showed up once in wake none in sampson after being paid to be my son's rep. I would not hear from him nor my daughter in law would see him attend to business. The man mumbles and I could not understand most of what he was saying even though he was apprised I am hard of hearing. 20 months and nothing he said he would do was done. I even hesitate to give one star he deserves none.

I'll give an extra star because they were generally pleasant to work with and my case was eventually resolved, but not without several unacceptable communication issues with possible legal consequences, and a lot of avoidable time and money spent. My recommendation would be to find more professional representation.
1. Received email notification at 7pm for a court ordered 2 hr virtual mediation session the next day, which I only happened to see the next day while at work. The associated affidavit was signed by representation almost a month before so I should have been notified.
2. There were calls scheduled with me on their side, without any notice to me (not impromptu calls, actual on their calendar scheduled calls)
3. Legal agreement revisions from opposing counsel were sent to me multiple times without any input. One time there were changes with significant financial impacts which I had to notice and evaluate on my own and could have easily missed.
4. I had to sign the same finalized agreement 3 times in a time crunch scenario due to mistakes. The first time, with a two week deadline to avoid court, the signed agreement was snail mailed and was either lost or returned which lost us most of the time window.
5. I was not notified when my legal agreement was executed, causing me to almost miss payments that were legally due. I only found out through opposing counsel at the last minute, which is obviously not how this should work.

This is our second go round with Katherine Frye as our PC. The first time Katherine was scolded by the courts for overstepping her role as a Parent Coordinator when she changed the custody schedule, wrongly taking away half of my custody. While Katherine seems very knowledgeable in her field she doesn't seem to use that knowledge very well to help dissolve conflict in high conflict situations. Katherine Frye has consistently ignored emails related to alienation of affection, domestic violence, protection orders, withholding and many other issues, and has continuous used her "power of authority" as she likes to call it, to make many bias, one sided decisions.
If you are in a high conflict case, or your co-parent suffers from narcissism, do not proceed with Katherine as your PC because her directives and help can be bought, and manipulated, inevitably becoming one sided.
I would have to agree with a previous review that maybe Katherine is too busy with her practice or doesn't care enough to find out the actual issue at hand, because there is no way a law professional is supposed to be this disconnected and nonchalant about major issues.

While Ms Frye may or may not be a good attorney, I would recommend someone else with a therapy background to be your family's parent coordinator. Specifically, Dr. Carolyn Pender-Roche of Next Step Psychology is exceptional. She is a therapist and understands what is in the best interest of the children. Carolyn takes into consideration the psychology of each family member as well as seeks to understand the whole situation even if it takes time. I believe from my experience with Katherine Frye that Katherine is just too busy trying to manage her legal practice to take the time to fully understand the issues at hand. If you want someone who will listen well before hurrying to give a directive, go with Dr Pender Roche or even another therapist. Ultimately having someone who can truly be an advocate for the best interest of your children is what is most important even if they dont always do what you want. If you have an ex that lies well, you dont want Katherine Frye as your PC as she is too busy to notice.

I hired Len Mueller to assist with divorce matters and a separation agreement. Everything seemed ok at first, and she asked for relevant financial documents and started working on an agreement for distribution. I then started to notice that little progress was being made on my case, and it seemed that I couldn’t get Len’s attention unless I made an appointment to come into her office for a conference. During these conferences, she would bill me close to, or in excess of, a thousand dollars each time, and we would often rehash the same issues. I then had trouble getting her or her staff to even respond to emails, and I had no choice but to send her a message conveying my dissatisfaction with her representation, and asking her to cease work. She basically told me to come pick up my file and wished me good luck. I asked for an electronic copy of my separation agreement, as a courtesy, so I could at least complete on my own. She would not respond to the request. In sum, I paid her nearly $4500 and walked away at close to square-one. In the end, I felt that she became argumentative and unprofessional to me. A previous reviewer stated that “she will only work cases she believes in fighting” so maybe mine wasn’t one of them.

Stephanie is very toxic attorney who revealed confidential information to my former spouse divorce lawyer. She just played us against each other to make things even around our child more dangerous only to create unnecessary litigation and drag time to justify her fabricated fees.
