I can’t tell you how many lawyers I have contacted and how many consultations I paid. I went from big firms to lawyers here on Avvo with a lot of reviews, contacted some that were recommended. and in the end I landed on Kirstyn Palmisano.
Let me tell you, she was very responsive, attentive and answered all of my questions in such a caring and observant manner that I knew I wanted her and her team to represent me.
I have a high conflict divorce, but Kirstyn and her team walked me through all of the steps and helped me feel safe and taken care of. I feel very confident and reassured having Kirstyn and her team representing me, guiding me through the legal process and stayed focus on protecting the best interest for me and my child. Kirstyn is not afraid to stand by her clients and fight for you and for what is right. She is very sharp, and knows her stuff very well.
She also has a very skilled paralegal and I had the pleasure to also work with her other legal partner, and they are an amazing team!

These are two things you are looking for in a lawyer when you are going through emotionally and financially exhausting processes like divorce, dvpo, custody and other family law matters. Court systems are hard to navigate when you have enough to take care as a single parent and while you are adjusting to your new reality. Brian helps take this burden off of you. He is highly knowledgeable and knows how to navigate these issues and address them appropriately. He is mindful of your finances and does a great job representing you, which is all you can ask for and expect. He listens, unlike a lot of other lawyers out there, he takes your input and advises on what the law dictates and advises accordingly. He is not brash but rather the kindest lawyer I've worked with, and I have worked with for almost 4 years. I must add that his para legal Jeff Welling has also been present to answer when Brian is attending to other clients; they are both highly responsive. I pray for continued success and well-being to Brian and his team and thank them for their time and efforts.

I have worked with Brian P. Edwards and his team closely over the past 14 months. I am writing this fresh out of an arduous, complex circumstance and trial. While results are pending, I am compelled to share my experience.
What I needed:
Due to having several friends who are attorneys, I’m very discerning and had my own matrix for assessing potential counsel. Brian helped through a very tough divorce with custody at stake. Throughout the difficult process Brian was always upfront and honest about what he thought in terms of key decisions and what I wanted. If he did not think it was a sound path, he would say so and explain why.
Brian was always professional in dealing with myself, the court, and opposing counsel. In dealing with opposing counsel he was balanced in advocating for me within the law with a difficult spouse that caused many problems.
I would not hesitate a second in hiring Brian.

Kim was my attorney during my divorce. I was glad to have done my research because, in hiring Kim, I picked an atty with a strong background in difficult personalities, mental health issues and complicated proceedings. My case did end up with multiple difficult surprises that could have devastated me financially and socially, but Kim got me through it without a scratch. I am a decent writer myself and work with lawyers frequently in my work; but I could NEVER have produced the legal artifacts (letters) that Kim did. They were extremely effective and served to close a very difficult process relatively quickly with an emphasis on ethics. My case ended up being difficult enough that I don't think the average divorce lawyer would have done as well for me. I recommend Kim without reservation.

18 months after my divorce was settled, I was laid off. When I found work again, I took a significant pay cut, making it impossible to pay my original maintenance amount. Then my ex petitioned to relocate cross-country with our kids, while demanding I continue to pay well more than I could now afford. I consulted multiple lawyers, expressing my desire to oppose the relocation and request a decrease in support payment. Several said no immediately, one felt it would be an “easy win,” and one charged a fee just to meet with their “intake specialist.” In contrast, Scott was patient, empathetic, and balanced. He gave me a very candid and practical assessment of my situation, and his opinion on my chances to win.
After we mutually agreed to go forward, he was responsive, made himself available even when my schedule wasn’t convenient, and was very collaborative. When mediation failed, he demonstrated his intellect and deep knowledge of the law in court. My ex’s lawyer focused his efforts on attacking my character. We could have done the same, but Scott insisted we take the high-road instead. That, combined with the case law he cited, his handling of witnesses (mine and hers), and his sincere and respectful demeanor led the court to side in my favor on each motion, as well as their subsequent motions for reconsideration. I consider myself lucky to have found Scott. I hope I never have to go through this again, but if I do, it will be with him.

My ex-wife filed for divorce a year ago and her lawyer filed a restraining order against me immediately before a visit to see my son, despite the fact I did not reside in the state, and having no specific previous conflict that merited such an action. I had a free consultation with Scott who was very good at listening and sympathetic, and I decided to retain his services. He acted quickly to negotiate the withdrawal of the petition for a restraining order. Subsequently, a fair parenting plan was negotiated, which allowed me to see my son and contact him regularly while out of state, which was much better than the situation prior to my ex-wife filing for divorce, which depended on her whims. Child support was a concern, as my wife wanted an unreasonable amount of money, far beyond what I could afford. Scott was right in his interpretation of the facts and when he went to court the Commissioner favored his arguments, and the terms settled were fair. He was right on and did not waiver, which reflects his knowledge and many years of experience. Scott was always very aware of my concerns about costs, and he did initially give a very accurate prediction of final cost. In addition, he was always calm, polite, thoughtful, and empathetic with me, he built a rapport with my ex-wife's lawyer to negotiate, while being resolute in defending my interests. Getting divorced with Scott's representation was far less stressful than it might have been with another attorney.

I called Scott when I first realized I was going to be going through divorce. As someone who has never been involved in anything to do with going to court or trial, I have to say that Scott made it very easy for me, also I was not the best client as far as providing paperwork and things of that nature but he was always patient and helpful. Scott also advised and me and handled my entire case for over 10 months. I ended up going to trial where he was well prepared and laid out my case quickly and efficiently. Every aspect of the case was ruled in my favor, Also I'm able to see my son who I was in a ruthless custody battle for even more often! Mr benjamin helped me tremendously.
My cases was different, my son was born and his mother married. I had to prove he was mine and get custody of him.
Mr benjamin was fast,smart, and fierce in the courtroom. My sons mom didnt know what hit her. He proved that she lied was on drugs and was unfit to have my son.
He got me non parental emergency custody until we got the paternity test and proved he was my son.

I have hired Jason on multiple occasions to represent me over the past 8 years. My most recent case was supposed to be a simple child support modification filed with the state turned messy. I want to truly thank Nathan for his help seeing me through a very challenging chapter in my and my child's life. Nathan's support was critical in navigating a highly contentious custody situation with an uncooperative ex-partner. Nathan helped guide me through the whole process which thankfully ended in favorable outcomes for myself and my child. I cannot say the process was easy nor if family law a clear-cut area where you will absolutely know going in what to expect. I will say Nathan was an invaluable partner in this process and helped me feel confident we were doing what was right for my child each step of the way.
My ex-partner has a history of withholding, unilaterally making medical and educational decisions without informing you, as well as most recently filing baseless CPS claims against me. Needless to say, this created an extremely contentious situation. After years of trying to handle things amicably for the sake of my child, the situation reached a boiling point when the CPS claims were filed, which was an extremely scary experience. I feared losing access to my child and damage to our relationship.
Nathan was instrumental in guiding us through this terrible chapter. He helped me successfully hold my ex in contempt of the parenting plan, address the unacceptable conduct around medical appointments, and ultimately gain significantly more parenting time with my kiddo.
While the process was not easy, and family law can be complex with uncertain outcomes, Nathan served as an invaluable partner who helped me feel confident that you were doing what was best for my kiddo throughout.

They put you through an inital intake process which is positive. I wanted a quick end to my divorce and was happy to compromise to make it happen. Our goals seemed to align.
Unfortunately this firm provided poor council during the first phone call with the attorney. Luckily this did not lead to a financial move that would have put me in violation of a court order. Later the attorney wanted me to provide documentary evidence he had previously advised against in an aparent 180. Such documentation was previously claimed to put me in legal liability. What can I believe?
Very disappointing.
Divorce is tough enough. I hired an attorney becuase I am no legal expert and I wanted a quick, mediated end to my marriage. Instead I get bad and changing advice. Plenty of good reviews of these guys. Hope I'm an outlier.

I hired Adam Shapiro's firm to handle contempt and modification issues in my complex dissolution case. Adam quickly reviewed the voluminous records in my case and outlined an effective, cost-sparing post-dissolution strategy. Because of his own heavy caseload, he assigned an attorney from his firm to take on my case, so that I could get my issues resolved without delay. Adam remained personally involved in my case, weighing in on questions of law and litigation strategy. His associate was a very talented litigator, and the result was a successful outcome to my own motion, and a neutralizing of the motions from the opposing side. It was a pleasure working with everyone at Adam's firm -- they are all extremely professional and caring individuals. Communication was first-rate, attention to detail was exemplary, and every effort was made to keep costs low. My only regret is that I didn't hire Adam to handle my divorce in the first place.

Hired Adam to represent me in a highly contested complicated case which turned out to be extremely long (over 2 years) and eventually went all the way to trial. After being blindsided with a request for a divorce I searched everywhere for lawyers that could help me immediately. My head began to spin with all the horror stories I heard about men's representation in divorce/parental proceedings, especially being a man of color. I was blessed to find Genevieve Davis. She immediately took my case and helped with every step of reacting to my divorce. Mrs. Davis took care of everything, and was always extremely prompt returning my calls and took her time explaining anything I did not understand (which was alot). I am aware that this is not a guarantee, but for my specific case, Mrs Davis was able to get me everything I requested specifically the time I requested with my children. I was blessed to find Ms. Davis and have her assistance in my Family Law case. After my ex-wife contracted a dirty and unscrupulous lawyer to “destroy my life”, as she said herself, I went through almost 2 years of fear and depression due to the threats and unimageable lies they made up about me in the process. Taking advantage of my ex-wife ignorance, her perverse lawyer kept throwing her against me, making false affirmations about myself and pushing us to go into court trials just to fill up her pockets, not caring at any moment about our mental health or even about our 5 years old daughter who was in the middle of all that. There aren't enough words to say how amazing Ms. Davis as an attorney. My case was fraught with high level conflict regarding custody of my 1 1/2 year old daughter, we were in a very unsafe living situation at the time and Genevieve took no stops to be present in her legal advice to get us out safely, she took my frantic calls on the weekends and guided my daughter and I both out of the situation (legally speaking).
After our temporary parenting plan was put into place, she worked tirelessly to prepare us for our Permanent Parenting Plan. She guided me through multiple protection orders and gracefully handled harassing calls from my ex. At all times Ms. Davis remains with a level head and exceptionally thorough in navigating the intricacies of both combative relationships and the legal system itself. My daughter's father struggled with following the rules in our Temp PP and her council successfully lead us through CR2A agreements, contempt orders and even a criminal case.
By the time we reached the Permanent Parenting Plan trial, we received every last thing we asked for, including the requirement of my daughter's father going to DV Dad's and Anger Management counseling. While my ex and I will never be "friends" through this process and counseling we are slowly learning to be civil.

I found Emily Tsai after seeing my wife’s lawyer out class my first 3 lawyers. He was able to take the documented truth and twist it into lies. The first 3 fell prey to sleazy tactics and threats of sanctions. Maybe they were afraid of a lawyer who had a Commissioner working in his law firm. Emily took him on and save me from losing potentially $2 million to the lies and tricks of the other side. She did this by not responding to lies and sleaze with lies and sleaze. She did it using the high road with good legal reasoning, good legal research, and outstanding expert witnesses.
Emily is hard working. To my objection she had me in her office late into the night to prepare for the arbitration hearing. Her husband was very patient and waited hours for her to complete the preparations.

Jillian is wonderful! She represented me for over three years; first for a dissolution of marriage, and then for a petition for modification of custody/parenting plan. I originally hired Sean because a plumbing company had caused structural damages to floor joists during a renovation and they would not accept responsibility. What happened instead was Sean transferred me to Joe and the lawsuit lasted 2 1/2 years. We ended up going to arbitration and I won all damages but zero lawyers fees.
Incredibly frustrating experience.
I wouldn’t hire nor recommend them.

I worked with Will Reingold, Jr for my divorce, who was recommended to me by a friend. He was friendly and knowledgeable for a process that is painful for most. The guy always works and never seems to miss a beat. He is always on top of it and prioritizes to get things done/executed like you're his only client. He made efforts to resolve more complicated challenges like parental rights of embryos even though it's not his wheelhouse.
