The selection of Mr. Morgan as an attorney was a wonderful choice! Throughout the course of our interactions, it was abundantly clear that he possessed an extensive legal experience and an unambiguous comprehension of the law. In the event that I had any questions, he promptly responded with explanations that I was able to comprehend without much difficulty. As someone who is dealing with commercial difficulties or who requires services relating to trust litigation, I would strongly suggest Mr. Morgan to anyone who is in need of such services.

I had the pleasure of working with Rusell Morgan at Morgan Legal Group to set up my family's estate plan, including wills and trusts. Rusell’s professionalism and attention to detail made the process stress-free and straightforward. He explained complex legal concepts in a way I could easily understand and tailored everything to meet my needs. I feel so much more secure about the future now. If you’re looking for estate planning services in NYC, Rusell is the attorney to trust!

Because Mr. Morgan possessed an outstanding degree of understanding, we were able to establish guardianship for our kid. This was made possible with his guidance. In spite of the fact that the process was already difficult to comprehend, he made it simple for us. I have no doubt that I would make use of his services once more, and I would also strongly recommend him to other people.

I would like to thank Andrew for helping my family and I when our backs were to the wall. After the sudden death of my attorney, Andrew became a beacon of hope. His calm and his "Colombo like demeanor" in the courtroom demonstrated to us that he was very skilled, knowledgeable about the law and the processes governing a court proceeding which proved successful. We are extremely grateful for his service and I hereby recommend Mr. Andrew Stoll without reservation.

To the Muchmore Law Firm, I am writing to express my deepest appreciation for your unwavering commitment and exceptional work on our recent case. Your professionalism and dedication have made a significant impact, and I am immensely grateful for all your efforts. I commend your commitment to excellence and meticulous attention to detail. Andrew, handled the complex and challenging separation agreement involving three parcels of real estate with the utmost care and precision. Your thorough investigation and expertise spared us from a lengthy and costly trial in the state of New York, which we greatly appreciate. Your exceptional work has surpassed all expectations, and I cannot thank you enough. I am relieved that the clouds of uncertainty have finally dissipated, allowing us to forge ahead on a more promising path. Thanks to Andrew Muchmore efforts, the concerns regarding the mismanagement of the properties by the executor are no longer a burden. With your ongoing support, alongside Melanie Wasserman and the rest of the team, I am confident that we will achieve even greater success in the future. Your dedication to our case went above and beyond what was expected. Your timely communication and prompt responses to our inquiries provided us with a sense of reassurance and confidence. Your expertise and knowledge of the legal intricacies involved in this matter were evident in every step of the process. Furthermore, Andrew abilities to navigate through the complex web of regulations and laws showed your profound understanding of the legal landscape. Your attention to detail and thoroughness in reviewing all documents and contracts ensured that we were protected and informed throughout the entire process. Your commitment to our best interests was evident at every turn, and it is truly commendable. I want to express my gratitude to Melanie not only for the legal expertise she provided but also for the compassion and empathy she demonstrated during this challenging time. Your support and guidance eased our anxieties and allowed us to focus on the resolution of the matter at hand. I needed a lawyer and I didn’t know which kind to look for. I thank God for the referral to this firm. Munchmore spoke with me himself before taking my case and explained I’m detail exactly what my options were and exactly what he would do. Then when I hired them, he helped me work with his highly knowledgeable staff who also answered every phone call and email and every question I had! (I had a lot) This firm is extremely experienced and they work like a well oiled machine, able to handle dozens of cases at once but still attentive to where I may as well have been the only one! They communicate and are transparent with me and represented me while taking away a huge chunk of stress involved around the parties in my case and the sensitivity of my issue. 5 stars for sure. I pray I won’t need a lawyer ever again but if I do, I’m going here first 🙏🏻

Andrew was recommended to me and I would recommend him to anyone in need of his services.

Stay away from this law firm. Their m.o. has not changed in years. Someone posted five years ago how Mr. Goldberg gave them the run around. He does the same to me and I am his client! He never returns my phone calls or my emails. I called the office recently and left a message for his partner and nothing. They don't value their clients. Go elsewhere. Avukatım Metin Bey sayesinde, 15 ay gibi kısa bir sürede tüm hayallerime ulaşmanın mutluluğunu yaşıyorum. Green Card, SSN, çalışma izni ve I-131 belgelerimin alınma sürecinde gösterdiği titizlik, öngörü ve profesyonellik beni fazlasıyla etkiledi. Her adımda yanımda olan, sorularımı sabırla yanıtlayan ve sürecin tüm detaylarını eksiksiz yöneten Metin Bey, göçmenlik yolculuğumda karşılaştığım tüm zorlukların üstesinden gelmemi sağladı. Eğer siz de benzer bir süreçten geçiyorsanız, Metin Bey’i gönül rahatlığıyla tavsiye ediyorum. Teşekkürler Metin Bey, sizinle çalışmak büyük bir ayrıcalıktı!

We had a very specific case that appeared to involved copyright infringement. Mr. Zeman was recommended to us through my Real Estate Attorney's office as a Criminal Defense Lawyer who was very versatile in other types of cases and circumstances of other practices of law. We consulted with Ben and his partners twice, and ended up hiring Ben and his team. The confidence, surety and breadth of knowledge of Ben and team was very reassuring, and on the court dates, Ben won out twice for us! I highly recommend Ben and his partners. Competent, skillful, very considerate in a client's time of need is how I would describe their service. Reasonable fees and retainers were agreed upon in their comfortable Brooklyn offices. Excellent! Thank you Ben and Partners!

16 Dec, 2009 by Andrew b.
My name is Andrew B., while I was growing up all I ever did was be harassed and violated physically by the officers of the NYPD. I recall one day which is documented in my criminal history. I went and told my mother that I was assaulted by the police and she was not really educated due to health problems, so she states to me you shouldn’t have your behind in them streets. From that point on I figured that the NYPD can do whatever they want to do. I didn’t know where to go to for help because they say Moms' know best, so if she doesn’t know who am I suppose to go to for help. That was 1991. I was arrested in 2003 and I was accused of a crime of possession which nothing was recovered. I was choked and maced by NYPD’s finest during my arrest. I spoke to my attorney that I had for the case about what happened to me and that’s when I was introduced to these great attorneys for civil rights violation cases named Andrew Stoll and Leo Glickman. Once I spoke to them I felt a sense of comfort because these were people that let you know that all the things that are done to you aren’t always right and if you feel that your rights are violated you should speak about it. It’s now 2009 and I am finally awake from being asleep all these years. If I would have never been introduced to these attorneys that are great at what they stand for, I would still think it was alright for me to be stopped and frisked and not feel violated as a man. Leo and Andrew have gave me strength to overcome the fear of being afraid to speak up, because the people that are violating your rights will make you feel like they are not violating your rights as if they are just doing their job or just because they are in a position of power they make you feel hopeless. Andrew and Leo will make you feel the sense of comfortableness; you won’t feel helpless anymore because they are here to help you. They’re only just a call away. Has anyone violated your civil rights? Stoll, Glickman & Bellina are the attorneys for the job. Don’t wait until it’s too late to speak out! Get HELP!

I recieved an unfair personal violation by an extremely aggressive inspector while acting as the Construction Superintendent of record for a large ground up residential project. Vivian Curry was recommended to me by another very experienced Construction Superintendent who used to work for the DOB. Vivian was fantastic and responsive from start to finish. Vivian not only walked me through the nuances of this process, but also represented me in my OATH hearing. Vivian was tenacious, professional and incredibly knowledgeable and he worked hard to ensure that the violation was dismissed. I am very grateful for the professional assistance provided by Mr. Vivian Curry in this matter and I would strongly recommend his services to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation. Thank you Mr. Curry!

Avoid this firm at all costs. They led me on for months and would take weeks to review documents and continually request more just for them to ultimately drop my case. They take wasting people’s time to the extreme.

What a Civil Rights Lawyer Can Do for You

A civil rights lawyer focuses on protecting individuals whose constitutional rights have been violated by government authorities, employers, or private organizations. These lawyers specialize in cases involving discrimination, police misconduct, freedom of speech, and other fundamental rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and civil rights laws, such as the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Fair Housing Act.

Whether you've been discriminated against due to race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics, or you believe your civil rights have been violated by a government entity, a civil rights lawyer can help you seek justice, hold wrongdoers accountable, and secure compensation for any harm you've suffered.

When Should I Hire a Civil Rights Lawyer?

You should hire a civil rights lawyer when your constitutional rights or other protected rights have been violated, and you need legal assistance to seek justice. Some key situations in which you may need a civil rights lawyer include:

  • Employment discrimination: If you have faced discrimination at work based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, or disability, a civil rights lawyer can help you file claims under laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Police misconduct or brutality: If you were the victim of police brutality, unlawful arrest, racial profiling, or other forms of misconduct, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit for violations of your Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
  • Freedom of speech or assembly violations: If your First Amendment rights to free speech or peaceful assembly have been restricted by the government, a civil rights lawyer can represent you in challenging the violation.
  • Housing discrimination: If you’ve been denied housing or faced unfair treatment due to your race, ethnicity, gender, or disability, a lawyer can help you file a complaint under the Fair Housing Act.
  • Voter rights violations: If you believe your right to vote has been unfairly suppressed or you’ve faced discrimination in the voting process, a civil rights lawyer can help you fight for your rights.
  • Disability rights violations: If you’ve faced discrimination in accessing public spaces, employment, or services due to a disability, a lawyer can help enforce your rights under the ADA.
  • LGBTQ+ rights violations: If you've experienced discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, or public services, a civil rights lawyer can help you pursue legal remedies.

Hiring a lawyer early on can help you understand your legal options and build a strong case to protect your rights.

What Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Do?

A civil rights lawyer provides legal representation and advocacy to individuals whose rights have been violated. Their work can include:

  • Filing lawsuits: A civil rights lawyer can represent you in court by filing lawsuits against individuals, businesses, or government entities that violated your rights.
  • Advocating for policy changes: Civil rights lawyers often engage in advocacy work, pushing for reforms to laws and policies that infringe upon people's rights.
  • Representing clients in discrimination claims: These lawyers help clients file claims with federal or state agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Negotiating settlements: In many cases, civil rights lawyers work to negotiate settlements for their clients before a case goes to trial, securing compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or legal fees.
  • Defending freedom of expression: Lawyers may represent clients whose rights to free speech, assembly, or protest were violated by government restrictions or other actions.
  • Handling appeals: If your civil rights case has been decided but you wish to appeal the ruling, a civil rights lawyer can help you through the appeals process.

How Are Civil Rights Lawyers Paid?

Civil rights lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: Many civil rights lawyers work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win your case. Their fee is typically a percentage (usually 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rate: For cases that require extensive legal research or litigation, some lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some civil rights lawyers or organizations may work on a pro bono (free) basis or use a sliding fee scale for clients who cannot afford typical legal fees.
  • Flat fee: In specific cases, a lawyer may charge a flat fee for services like drafting legal documents or filing a complaint.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure during your initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a civil rights lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal issue. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases taken on a contingency basis, the lawyer’s fee will typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Many civil rights lawyers charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For straightforward legal tasks, such as filing a complaint with a government agency or drafting legal documents, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Pro bono work: Some civil rights lawyers or nonprofit organizations provide free legal representation in certain cases involving important constitutional or civil rights issues.

Be sure to ask for a detailed estimate of costs during your consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

Top Questions to Ask a Civil Rights Lawyer

Before hiring a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with civil rights cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s employment discrimination, police misconduct, or First Amendment violations.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, hourly rate, or flat fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer to provide an honest assessment of your case, including the strengths, weaknesses, and potential outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Inquire about the lawyer’s experience in cases with similar facts and legal issues.
  5. What is the timeline for resolving my case?
While exact timelines can vary, ask for an estimate of how long your case may take, from filing to resolution.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may work on parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will handle your legal matter directly.

How to Check the Credibility of a Civil Rights Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable civil rights lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific civil rights experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in civil rights law and have a history of handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience with civil rights cases.
  • Check for advocacy or nonprofit work: Lawyers involved with civil rights organizations, such as the ACLU or NAACP Legal Defense Fund, may have a strong reputation in the civil rights legal community.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • A detailed account of the violation: Provide a written summary of the events, including dates, times, and any people involved in the violation of your rights.
  • Documentation and evidence: Bring any supporting documentation, such as emails, letters, photos, or video footage that may help prove the violation of your rights.
  • Records of complaints or reports: If you’ve filed complaints with a government agency or reported the violation, bring copies of those documents.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes of your case.
  • Information on damages or harm: Be prepared to discuss the harm you’ve suffered due to the violation, such as emotional distress, financial loss, or physical injury.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
