Learned the hard way through an unfortunate experience that company HR is not the employee’s advocate. HKM will be. Corey Asay represented me in my case. He was very responsive, honest, and professional. He took care of everything and was able to get me a settlement. I would definitely recommend Corey and HKM to anyone who feels like they were wrongfully treated/terminated by their employer.

Ken handled my personal injury case for little over a year. I hardly heard from him that year. He never tried to settle my case he waited for the other at fault insurance company to make an offer first and then accepted their lowest offer right away. When we had to meet in front of a magistrate Ken couldn't answer any of the magistrates questions regarding my case. (it was like he didn't even look over my case). The magistrate was getting frustrated with him. Was not happy with his representation at all.

As a securities and corporate lawyer, I often need litigation help for my clients. When I do, I turn to Ken Hawley. In fact, Ken has handled my own disputes and litigation over the years. And he’s achieved exceptional results every time. I’ve never known another lawyer more prepared or focused than Ken. He has the ability to dissect a case like a skilled surgeon and understands the nuances of handling complicated matters that require finesse and savvy. Ken is the best of the best!

Ken and his wife Lori did a great job. Our case was a very delicate case involving my wife and I business. Since our business is something that we and our employees have worked hard for, it also made our Legal matter very personal. Even though I knew he had other cases I always felt they personally cared about ours. In the end Ken fought for us and we got what was rightfully ours. Thanks Ken job well done.

Don't ever use Blake Maislin attorney law. I've been having a case going with them for 3yrs now. And I have to continue to call Stephanie Collins to see how my case is going. We reached a settlement . And this settlement was settled in October and I still haven't received my settlement. I was told it took 1to 2 weeks to receive my payment. And that's past. And I reached out to her again and then I was told it can take longer and there's nothing else she can do to push my case forward. I thought she was the lawyer not the insurance company. 🤔 Bad management

Huge Law Firm with a few bad eggs. Watch out for Attorney Brian Perry out of Cincinnati, OH. Brian's special skill is setting up Upper Encelon Workers Compensation Fraud Rings. I know from first-hand experience. Mr. Perry is willing to bend or outright break laws to help his clients win Injury Claims. I am still injured 2 years after I was injured, Ironworking and fighting my claim. Brian has, unfortunately, forgotten there are Rules/Laws he has to uphold. I am going to make sure Mr. Perry is held accountable for his Unlawful Participation that landed me living in my SUV for the past 15 months. All while having a serious spinal injury. I don't deserve nor any Injured Worker should be forced to combat against Bad Faith and Fraudulent Inducement to prove their Injury.

If you have a sexual or workplace harassment case, take it to Andrea Pomeranz - you will win. I’ve never met an attorney who is so trustworthy and dependable in difficult times. It became clear to me through her strategic guidance and the favorable outcome of my case that her experience in the field is exceptional. Above all she is empathetic, analytical, highly intellectual, and leads her work with a strong ethical foundation. I don’t know what else you could ask for in an attorney. I would not have made it through my case without her. Do yourself a favor and call this firm. Brian Butler also helped with my case and was nothing but exceptional.

I contacted Mezibov Butler to seek their legal advice on my constitutional rights being violated by my local law enforcement. I spoke with a paralegal named "TJ" TJ took down all my information and said that the attorneys were out to lunch. Three weeks later, I call again. Now TJ said that "Kevin" just got back from vacation. He would have him call me in the near future. Two weeks later I had to call the law firm and asked them why after all this time I can't speak with a lawyer and get some legal advice. Only after I pushed the issue, I got to speak with a attorney named "Dennis" He read information off of a piece of paper and asked if I was that person. After confirming that I was that person he asked the ridiculous question of "What do you want us to do for you?" Then I actually had to voice that I wanted him to stick up for my constitutional rights. He advised that there was nothing that he could help me with. Granted I don't know as much law as he does but the little I do know, I did not believe his professional opinion of there wasn't much he could do. According to Dennis that they mostly practice Employment Law and rarely to they practice Constitutional Law. In my personal opinion, this law firm is unprofessional, lazy, and do not offer proper advice. I would advised people to seek attorney advice somewhere else. EDIT**** (8-21-24) Since there is no button to respond to the "Owner's Response" I have to give my "Response to the Owner's Response" right here. Its really weird how I got such a prompt response only after I left a review for you on Google. Considering it took me a month to hear from your office the first time. I'm fairly positive that your paralegal TJ said "Kevin" Considering that TJ has a hard problem passing along phone messages, I would strongly consider that your law firm should investigate TJ's effectiveness at your law firm. During your free time, you should investigate "Amendment Auditors" on line. There is one undeniable conclusion that you can come to when watching these and they are all backed up by lawsuits. "Law Enforcement can not forcibly take your identity away from you without probable cause." If you can not look at my case and come to the conclusion that it is not a "viable claim" then I stand by my conclusion. Your law firm is unprofessional, lazy, and does not offer proper advice. On your google page you posted "When you have been wronged, you need an experienced law firm on your side that can help make things right." In my opinion your law firm has no interest of fighting for anyone and I'm going to use sarcastic air quotes right now "And making things right."

Tiffany Evans was appointed as Guardian Ad Litem for my stepdaughters. Her report failed to address the particular issue leading to her appointment and disregarded a majority of the facts shared with her during a lengthy process of interviews. Additionally, it was the experience of numerous of those interviewed by her that she appeared disorganized to an unprofessional extent. We were the last case of Tiffany's before she left the firm for a magistrate position; it appeared that the report was rushed and reflected very poorly on her as well as the firm.

Mr Green was the prosecuting attorney against my husband for a case in which the jury found unanimously in our favor. Shame on Green that he takes cases that should never be pursued and that people’s lives are upended needlessly. Green himself caused two mistrials by passing out, once during jury selection and once during trial. Greens’s own expert witness agreed that everything was within the standard of care. We are still wondering how Green thought he had a case. Please google Harrison Green, Ohio Supreme Court for why he had his license suspended temporarily and what he was indicted for. All of this is MY OPINION.

GET THERE BEFORE 3:45pm OR GET A DOOR SLAMMED IN YOUR FACE. I just had a terrible interaction with one of the clerks that works there that shut the door in my face, literally, I could have stuck my hand out to stop it, but I didn’t. So I knocked. I was informed they close at 3:45. “I don’t get paid after 4” is what she told me. Their website says nothing about closing at 3:45pm. The person I talked to on the phone this morning said they’re open 8am - 4pm. This has been a negative experience made especially awful thanks to an incredibly rude worker. I hope you can find better staff in the future.

My bro got hit by a car while he was on a motorcycle. He ended up stuck with hospital bills, barely got his lost wages, also ended up losing his job over the trauma he endured. Any other lawyer would have gotten him more then $20k which he ended up with $11k after all said and done. My opinion Paul can't hackett, find a better lawyer from the beginning. He's probably working with the chiropractor too. Didnt make it as a coach not much better as a lawyer.. figured I'd make a more recent review then the ones I seen from 3 to 5 years ago.

Mr. Ivan Tamarkin, and his staff are exceptionally professional and courteous! He was there for every question, around every turn. I HIGHLY recommend him for legal counsel and representation. If your looking to put the law on your side, and have someone knowledgeable who actually cares about the person, look no further! It was not real easy to get to his office but I got there. I thought I was going to discuss my case. I had to resend him copies of my case per smart phone the office staff printed off the documents. He never read my case just said it would cost 3500 to read the information. He did not know the real facts. I just did a double take I have to pay that much just to read the facts of my case. I needed help He is part of law group Schwartz, Manes and Ruby. I felt like I just totally wasted my time. I guess I can not figure out why I was even in his office.

I should have read the reviews and looked them up online before wasting my time driving here from Indian Hill. As one of the reviews says, they’re going viral on all social media platforms for being poor to the point they can’t afford a real law firm with an actual law firm address. I don’t know how their Caroline McCroskey will take this.

I was looking for an elderly law lawyer for my grandfather nearby; we live in Indian Hill. We drive to this address when we looked it up, and it’s just a very poor looking house in the lower end of Madeira with very very old low-cost vehicles in their puny house’s backyard. If you’re looking for real lawyers, don’t even waste your time because these ones are going viral all over Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and every social media platform for being on the cheaper end that aren’t real because they don’t have a law firm. I filed a complaint with the Ohio Bar Association and the Cincinnati Bar Association.

Cheap. Small house in Madeira, not even in a good part like Camargo Woods. Waste of time even going there. If you look at the cars directly in front of that house and in that house’s backyard, that explains why they can’t afford a real law firm.

What a Civil Rights Lawyer Can Do for You

A civil rights lawyer focuses on protecting individuals whose constitutional rights have been violated by government authorities, employers, or private organizations. These lawyers specialize in cases involving discrimination, police misconduct, freedom of speech, and other fundamental rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and civil rights laws, such as the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Fair Housing Act.

Whether you've been discriminated against due to race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics, or you believe your civil rights have been violated by a government entity, a civil rights lawyer can help you seek justice, hold wrongdoers accountable, and secure compensation for any harm you've suffered.

When Should I Hire a Civil Rights Lawyer?

You should hire a civil rights lawyer when your constitutional rights or other protected rights have been violated, and you need legal assistance to seek justice. Some key situations in which you may need a civil rights lawyer include:

  • Employment discrimination: If you have faced discrimination at work based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, or disability, a civil rights lawyer can help you file claims under laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Police misconduct or brutality: If you were the victim of police brutality, unlawful arrest, racial profiling, or other forms of misconduct, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit for violations of your Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
  • Freedom of speech or assembly violations: If your First Amendment rights to free speech or peaceful assembly have been restricted by the government, a civil rights lawyer can represent you in challenging the violation.
  • Housing discrimination: If you’ve been denied housing or faced unfair treatment due to your race, ethnicity, gender, or disability, a lawyer can help you file a complaint under the Fair Housing Act.
  • Voter rights violations: If you believe your right to vote has been unfairly suppressed or you’ve faced discrimination in the voting process, a civil rights lawyer can help you fight for your rights.
  • Disability rights violations: If you’ve faced discrimination in accessing public spaces, employment, or services due to a disability, a lawyer can help enforce your rights under the ADA.
  • LGBTQ+ rights violations: If you've experienced discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, or public services, a civil rights lawyer can help you pursue legal remedies.

Hiring a lawyer early on can help you understand your legal options and build a strong case to protect your rights.

What Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Do?

A civil rights lawyer provides legal representation and advocacy to individuals whose rights have been violated. Their work can include:

  • Filing lawsuits: A civil rights lawyer can represent you in court by filing lawsuits against individuals, businesses, or government entities that violated your rights.
  • Advocating for policy changes: Civil rights lawyers often engage in advocacy work, pushing for reforms to laws and policies that infringe upon people's rights.
  • Representing clients in discrimination claims: These lawyers help clients file claims with federal or state agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Negotiating settlements: In many cases, civil rights lawyers work to negotiate settlements for their clients before a case goes to trial, securing compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or legal fees.
  • Defending freedom of expression: Lawyers may represent clients whose rights to free speech, assembly, or protest were violated by government restrictions or other actions.
  • Handling appeals: If your civil rights case has been decided but you wish to appeal the ruling, a civil rights lawyer can help you through the appeals process.

How Are Civil Rights Lawyers Paid?

Civil rights lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: Many civil rights lawyers work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win your case. Their fee is typically a percentage (usually 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rate: For cases that require extensive legal research or litigation, some lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some civil rights lawyers or organizations may work on a pro bono (free) basis or use a sliding fee scale for clients who cannot afford typical legal fees.
  • Flat fee: In specific cases, a lawyer may charge a flat fee for services like drafting legal documents or filing a complaint.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure during your initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a civil rights lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal issue. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases taken on a contingency basis, the lawyer’s fee will typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Many civil rights lawyers charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For straightforward legal tasks, such as filing a complaint with a government agency or drafting legal documents, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Pro bono work: Some civil rights lawyers or nonprofit organizations provide free legal representation in certain cases involving important constitutional or civil rights issues.

Be sure to ask for a detailed estimate of costs during your consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

Top Questions to Ask a Civil Rights Lawyer

Before hiring a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with civil rights cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s employment discrimination, police misconduct, or First Amendment violations.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, hourly rate, or flat fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer to provide an honest assessment of your case, including the strengths, weaknesses, and potential outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Inquire about the lawyer’s experience in cases with similar facts and legal issues.
  5. What is the timeline for resolving my case?
While exact timelines can vary, ask for an estimate of how long your case may take, from filing to resolution.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may work on parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will handle your legal matter directly.

How to Check the Credibility of a Civil Rights Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable civil rights lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific civil rights experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in civil rights law and have a history of handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience with civil rights cases.
  • Check for advocacy or nonprofit work: Lawyers involved with civil rights organizations, such as the ACLU or NAACP Legal Defense Fund, may have a strong reputation in the civil rights legal community.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • A detailed account of the violation: Provide a written summary of the events, including dates, times, and any people involved in the violation of your rights.
  • Documentation and evidence: Bring any supporting documentation, such as emails, letters, photos, or video footage that may help prove the violation of your rights.
  • Records of complaints or reports: If you’ve filed complaints with a government agency or reported the violation, bring copies of those documents.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes of your case.
  • Information on damages or harm: Be prepared to discuss the harm you’ve suffered due to the violation, such as emotional distress, financial loss, or physical injury.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
