Drago reached out to us as a collective initially after the January 6 arrests in Atlanta, Georgia. This being my first arrest, I was incredibly worried about having to pay fees after being arrested for simply walking on the sidewalk. Drago was incredibly reassuring and helpful, and by the time it came for our court hearings, mine was already dropped before I even made it inside! He's excellent at his job, and I hope if anything in the future comes to happen to be able to rely on him once again!

Hiring a lawyer isn’t just about dealing with your case. That’s important, yes. But you also hire a lawyer because you’re scared, because you don’t have the knowledge to manage the situation you’re facing, because you need someone to be ON YOUR SIDE. If you’re facing charges related to exercising your civil rights, there is no lawyer in Atlanta who will advocate for you and fight on your side like Drago will. As a volunteer with protester legal defense, I’ve had the privilege of meeting many of the lawyers who defend people who are arrested for protesting or exercising free speech. Of the many (truly great!) lawyers I’ve met, not one of them believes so deeply in the cause of his clients and stands up for them 200% like Drago does. I’ve never met a lawyer as quick to respond to an email, to answer a question, and to strategize how to not only win your defense but to demonstrate how your case was a violation of your constitutional rights. That’s why, when I was arrested at a protest, I knew Drago was the lawyer I wanted for my own case. Sure enough, so far all my charges AND those of my co-defendants have been dropped.

Attorney Hughes is awesome! I initially hired and attorney from a big name Law Firm to represent me in a child custody case. The attorney sold me a dream, got paid then basically told me the best she could do for me is get me standard visitation with a very high monthly child support payment. I replaced that attorney and hired Attorney Hughes, now I have custody and the mother has standard visitation. Your case is only as strong as your representation . If you're looking for a attorney that will fight for you, Attorney Hughes is your lady. The little lady with big standing.

Attorney Hughes is wonderful, great! A perfect example of our great judicial system. While handling my case, she went above and beyond to adhere to and make sure that the appropriate justice was served. She made me feel very comfortable and took the time out to listen to each and every detail to assure that my rights were protected. I've already taken the liberty to refer her to my friends and associates for legal consultation and representation.

Mr Summers is a fantastic Lawyer and very kind. He listened intently to everything I said each time we spoke. He went out of his way to meet with me, talk over the phone and email me to stay in contact with me during my case. I appreciated him talking about my case to me on my level and in terms I could understand. He always made sure I understood what was going on with my case and a time frame things would take place. I recommend Mr Richard Summers highly!! :)

When we came to Mr. Summers another lawyer was handling my slip and fall case FOR 5 YEARS. The paperwork associated with our case was a mess and the previous atty. had given up on our case. Mr. Summers hit the ground running, was very patient with me and kept in constant contact with us like we were his only case. CASE CLOSED in about 6 months. We are very, very pleased with Mr. Summers. He is truly a friend and protector of his clients. Mr. Summers is THE PEOPLES LAWYER!

The old adage: You can get good, You can get fast, You can get cheap But you can't get all three. This David Basil guy has somehow managed to be terrible, slow, and expensive. It's not cheap if you have to go behind him and clean up the mess he makes after he drags tail. There are worse lawyers out there, i just haven't met them.

Tired of her unethical actions towards, a loved ones case in Cobb county, as a public defender. I have been dealing with this lawyer for over a year and she has visited my family member 1 time and knows nothing about his cases. I call for updates she has hung up on me or more than 2 occasions. Everyone deserves her to handle their cases for the best possible outcome per the state bar. This lawyer is also on social media making videos, when she could be studying my family members case. This has been a road with this lawyer as I would give her less than 1 star if I could because of the way she has treated my family member in their court case in Cobb county. Instead of admitting she knows nothing about his cases (felony) & her YSL case is her priority she denies and lies as if she has visited when it is documented that she has not but once. Every case she takes or is assigned to, deserve a fair chance of representation & the oath states that she is supposed to “adhere to all articles of conduct while working tirelessly for the best possible outcome.” When I call to ask about updates she is rude. A life should be her concern paid or not! I will be complaining to state bar as this matter has been ongoing with her for over 1 year with her unprofessional manner.

I had a very positive experience with Pritchard Injury Law Firm after being involved in a car accident. From the very first consultation, they were attentive and understanding of my situation. The team was professional, responsive, and guided me through the complex legal process with ease. My attorney, Adam camara , was exceptionally knowledgeable about personal injury law and fought diligently for my rights. He kept me informed every step of the way and answered all my questions promptly. Thanks to his hard work, I received a fair settlement that covered my medical expenses and lost wages. I highly recommend Pritchard Injury Law Firm to anyone in need of legal representation for an injury claim. They truly care about their clients and deliver outstanding results!

Oh my God! Never in my wildest dream did I ever think I would need a lawyer, but I am blessed to have Mr. Orlando as a friend, who was able to get Mr Scott (my lawyer) to reach out to me ASAP. Being on workman comp really blew through my savings. The firm was very interested in my case and encouraging. When the settlement finally came in, I was satisfied, but my lawyer wasn't. He said, "That's not enough for what you went through, let me see if I can get maybe 5K more for you". Well he did better than that, he got me 12K more! The check cleared and I'm hoping to never need a lawyer again, but if I do this firm will/is my only choice.

The consultation with secretary/answering/paralegal was off putting. She asked questions that made no sense, Then asked why a case was put off by a solicitor for so long? That was a very huge red flag... Next when I told this assistant I wanted to do the attorney consult for $350 she starts asking me more questions? I'm assuming she misheard my request but at this point I was past wanting services with this firm. When I told her thank you but ill look elsewhere, she laughs and says "We've never lost a case". Unfortunately you lost a potential client. So 1 star.

BEWARE!!!!! PARENTS OF BLENDED FAMILIES DUE TO MULTIPLE MARRIAGES... DO NOT USE THIS FIRM!!! For all those parents that have multiple marriages and want to make sure their own blood children are treated fairly through Probate STAY CLEAR of using this attorney firm. My Dad died June 15th, Father’s Day. He was married to his 3rd wife. My Dad has two BLOOD children, myself and my brother. His 3rd wife has two daughters. My Dad’s second wife had three boys. Unfortunately, my dad’s second wife was murdered on a business trip in Mexico. WHAT A MESS… BUT IS TYPICAL OF TODAY'S FAMILY MAKE-UP!!! You cannot imagine the emotional trauma that my brother and I experienced being raised with other families we did not know. I’ve always wondered why society does not mention the mental anguish that the original blood children are exposed to when you blend all these families together. My Dad’s estate is large, and my brother and I had concerns on how he would handle the inheritance upon his death due to all these multiple blended families. My Dad was an executive for a large lighting company and was a very hard worker, always working. My Dad and I were very close. He worked up and until his death at 86 years old. I always asked him why he worked so hard. He laughed and stated, “building up your inheritance son”. “When I leave this earth you and Randy should never have to work.” I can at least leave you with that! So, from time to time, I confronted my dad and asked him what happens with the estate when you die. It is very hard to ask a parent that but again this is the mental anguish the original blood children go through when they are exposed to blended families. He ALWAYS stated son upon my death contact McCurdy & Candler and speak to this specific attorney and he will guide you and your brother through the probate. Upon his death we did contact McCurdy & Candler and found that the original attorney had retired. So, they handed my dad’s probate to one of the principles of the firm. My brother and I did get a copy of the Will and upon reviewing it found that there was nothing left for my brother and I. In speaking to the newly appointed attorney he saw that my brother and I were distraught, so he offered to advise my brother that he knew of an agreement between my Dad’s 3rd wife and my Dad about my brother and I’s inheritance. Once we started pushing him on what this agreement was, he backed off and then decided to stop all communication with my brother and I. And now he has demanded that my stepmother, Dad’s 3rd wife, stop communicating with my brother and I regarding my dad’s probate. This attorney will not provide my dad’s own blood children with statues of this probate. His last correspondence to me with my dad’s 3rd wife copied. In part his email stated: Mr. Darnell, I have asked Mrs. XXXXXXX not to reply directly on matters related to the probate. I can assure you that my dad did not hire McCurdy & Candler solely to represent his 3rd wife! WE ARE HIS BLOOD CHILDREN. My Dad is turning in his grave right now!!! How dare this firm exclude my dad’s first born and blood children through this very emotional time. Instead of alienating his blood children this firm should be embracing the entire family and keeping all of us informed. If anyone understands probate, there is much information that must be learned to go through probate. It has now been 8 months since my dad’s death. NO PROBATE BEWARE…PARENTS that have multiple marriages with BLENDED families DO NOT engage this firm to handle your estate and more importantly your probate. THEY WILL NOT PROTECT YOUR BLOOD CHILDREN!!!! This was not the intention of my dad or he would never have continuously asked my brother and I to contact this firm for information about this estate.

I had the privilege of working with Foster Law Firm for both criminal and family law matters, and I couldn't be more impressed with the service they provided. Janee Hawkins, ESG, and the entire team demonstrated exceptional professionalism and expertise throughout the entire process. What stood out to me the most was their fantastic and timely communication. Janee was always readily available to address any issues, even immediately following court sessions, and her prompt responses put me at ease during a very stressful time. The entire team was honest, transparent, and dedicated to ensuring I fully understood each step of the legal process. I highly recommend Foster Law Firm to anyone seeking legal assistance in Atlanta. Their professionalism, commitment to their clients, and attention to detail are second to none. If you're looking for reliable, experienced legal representation, this is the firm to trust.

I called Saeed and explained my traffic ticket; unlike the other lawyers who wanted me to hire them immediately and pay them up front. Saeed advised me that my traffic ticket was a simple expiry of tag and that i should be able to pay the fine without paying thousands to any lawyer. He was more of a physician watching out for the best interest of his client instead of a businessman looking out for the best for himself. I can not thank him enough for giving the best advice in a simple and understandable language. I highly recommend Saeed for his principles and practise of law.

Saeed is a fantastic attorney and just a genuinely caring guy. His office is in a very nice area, and conveniently located. He spent more time with me than I've ever experienced from an attorney, and he was quick to find answers to all my questions. He handled my case extremely efficiently, and even made me laugh a couple times. I'd recommend Mr. Mahallati to anyone. I actually picked up a stack of his cards because lawyers like him will actually give lawyers a good name. Also, he speaks various languages. If you're in the market for a Persian / Iranian speaking attorney, then he's your guy.

We highly recommend Refuge Law! We used Troy and his team for our recent home closing. Troy took us through our book of documents to sign with ease and efficiency, answering any questions that we had. I am extremely impressed with his attention to detail and his professionalism. He even provided tips for our success as future homeowners. As we went over the paperwork, everything was in order on closing day. It was clear that he was genuinely interested in making sure it was a good experience. He also went out his way and helped negotiate a termination of lease on our behalf with our previous landlord. In conclusion, we highly recommend Refuge Law and his team for your closing needs. With them working on your closing, you're assured to have a smooth, worry-free property purchase experience. We have already recommended him to our friends.

Troy and Channelle are amazing. In this seller's market I was able to go on one tour, see three properties, put an offer in on two of them, and one was accepted within 24hrs. They're knowledgeable and truthful. Throughout the entire process they walked me through exactly what I needed to know, and checked me on the things I assumed. I highly recommend them whether you're a first-time homebuyer or an experienced investor! Look no further!

Badger Law represented me for my car accident - I could not recommend Kurtis and Kat enough! The communication from both is amazing - I would text Kat sometimes late at night or on the weekend expecting a text during "normal" business hours - she would respond almost immediately every time! Kurtis would always call me with updates and also clearly explain what was going on with my case. Kurtis is exceptionally knowledgeable and you can tell dealing with insurance companies is his bread and butter. It was also reassuring that he knew exactly what games they play and was not intimidated by them at all. I'm so thankful for them and the genuine care and compassion they showed me during this difficult process.

What a Civil Rights Lawyer Can Do for You

A civil rights lawyer focuses on protecting individuals whose constitutional rights have been violated by government authorities, employers, or private organizations. These lawyers specialize in cases involving discrimination, police misconduct, freedom of speech, and other fundamental rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and civil rights laws, such as the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Fair Housing Act.

Whether you've been discriminated against due to race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics, or you believe your civil rights have been violated by a government entity, a civil rights lawyer can help you seek justice, hold wrongdoers accountable, and secure compensation for any harm you've suffered.

When Should I Hire a Civil Rights Lawyer?

You should hire a civil rights lawyer when your constitutional rights or other protected rights have been violated, and you need legal assistance to seek justice. Some key situations in which you may need a civil rights lawyer include:

  • Employment discrimination: If you have faced discrimination at work based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, or disability, a civil rights lawyer can help you file claims under laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Police misconduct or brutality: If you were the victim of police brutality, unlawful arrest, racial profiling, or other forms of misconduct, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit for violations of your Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
  • Freedom of speech or assembly violations: If your First Amendment rights to free speech or peaceful assembly have been restricted by the government, a civil rights lawyer can represent you in challenging the violation.
  • Housing discrimination: If you’ve been denied housing or faced unfair treatment due to your race, ethnicity, gender, or disability, a lawyer can help you file a complaint under the Fair Housing Act.
  • Voter rights violations: If you believe your right to vote has been unfairly suppressed or you’ve faced discrimination in the voting process, a civil rights lawyer can help you fight for your rights.
  • Disability rights violations: If you’ve faced discrimination in accessing public spaces, employment, or services due to a disability, a lawyer can help enforce your rights under the ADA.
  • LGBTQ+ rights violations: If you've experienced discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, or public services, a civil rights lawyer can help you pursue legal remedies.

Hiring a lawyer early on can help you understand your legal options and build a strong case to protect your rights.

What Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Do?

A civil rights lawyer provides legal representation and advocacy to individuals whose rights have been violated. Their work can include:

  • Filing lawsuits: A civil rights lawyer can represent you in court by filing lawsuits against individuals, businesses, or government entities that violated your rights.
  • Advocating for policy changes: Civil rights lawyers often engage in advocacy work, pushing for reforms to laws and policies that infringe upon people's rights.
  • Representing clients in discrimination claims: These lawyers help clients file claims with federal or state agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Negotiating settlements: In many cases, civil rights lawyers work to negotiate settlements for their clients before a case goes to trial, securing compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or legal fees.
  • Defending freedom of expression: Lawyers may represent clients whose rights to free speech, assembly, or protest were violated by government restrictions or other actions.
  • Handling appeals: If your civil rights case has been decided but you wish to appeal the ruling, a civil rights lawyer can help you through the appeals process.

How Are Civil Rights Lawyers Paid?

Civil rights lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: Many civil rights lawyers work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win your case. Their fee is typically a percentage (usually 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rate: For cases that require extensive legal research or litigation, some lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some civil rights lawyers or organizations may work on a pro bono (free) basis or use a sliding fee scale for clients who cannot afford typical legal fees.
  • Flat fee: In specific cases, a lawyer may charge a flat fee for services like drafting legal documents or filing a complaint.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure during your initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a civil rights lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal issue. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases taken on a contingency basis, the lawyer’s fee will typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Many civil rights lawyers charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For straightforward legal tasks, such as filing a complaint with a government agency or drafting legal documents, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Pro bono work: Some civil rights lawyers or nonprofit organizations provide free legal representation in certain cases involving important constitutional or civil rights issues.

Be sure to ask for a detailed estimate of costs during your consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

Top Questions to Ask a Civil Rights Lawyer

Before hiring a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with civil rights cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s employment discrimination, police misconduct, or First Amendment violations.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, hourly rate, or flat fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer to provide an honest assessment of your case, including the strengths, weaknesses, and potential outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Inquire about the lawyer’s experience in cases with similar facts and legal issues.
  5. What is the timeline for resolving my case?
While exact timelines can vary, ask for an estimate of how long your case may take, from filing to resolution.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may work on parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will handle your legal matter directly.

How to Check the Credibility of a Civil Rights Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable civil rights lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific civil rights experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in civil rights law and have a history of handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience with civil rights cases.
  • Check for advocacy or nonprofit work: Lawyers involved with civil rights organizations, such as the ACLU or NAACP Legal Defense Fund, may have a strong reputation in the civil rights legal community.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • A detailed account of the violation: Provide a written summary of the events, including dates, times, and any people involved in the violation of your rights.
  • Documentation and evidence: Bring any supporting documentation, such as emails, letters, photos, or video footage that may help prove the violation of your rights.
  • Records of complaints or reports: If you’ve filed complaints with a government agency or reported the violation, bring copies of those documents.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes of your case.
  • Information on damages or harm: Be prepared to discuss the harm you’ve suffered due to the violation, such as emotional distress, financial loss, or physical injury.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
