Definitely would not recommend using Judge Amy Pellman for mediation services. She was incredibly biased from the start and made an unprofessional comment within 10 minutes of the session starting. Should’ve ended it there instead of wasting an entire day making zero progress on any kind of settlement. She was only interested in assisting one side on their goals, and did not advocate for me on any points. She might’ve been a great judge but clearly needs some more experience in mediation, where the purpose is to try and reach an agreement between both parties- not decide who she thinks is right and pursue their interests only. We hired another mediator after this failed session and had immediate success with them.

Don't have enough great things to say about this lawfirm, Seppi & his team walked me through all the steps to get me out of trouble. Little over a year later and completed. Thanks Everyone. ~Mike

I am so blessed to have found Lawyer Seppi! I have never been in this situation where I needed a lawyer and don’t plan to ever again, but Seppi made this experience as easy as possible. And after meeting Seppi in his office, I felt even better because he was so kind, personable, patient, and understanding. He answered every question I had and kept me updated. I listened to every word he said, and because of that my case was dismissed before our court date and I remain with a completely clean record! I cannot thank this law firm enough!!!

Back in 2020 I hired Yang Law Firm for my child support case. They were horrible. I mean, between every 2 months before even going to court, they swapped my lawyers out. It was so bad that one lawyer even sent me an email to introduce herself that she didn't even know my daughter's name. Not that she misspelled it but gave my daughter a completely different name that was remotely close to her first, middle or last name. It got so bad with them I wrote a Google review while they were working on my case because I was so fed up with having to add money to my retainer but haven't even spoke to anyone with any information on my case. Once I submitted the review on here the owner Elizabeth Yang called my phone and told me that if I remove my review that she would remove any payments owed for my retainer and I would get a new contract for a fixed retainer just so I have representation in court. By the time court took place they had some random who I never met at the courthouse with me. He didn't even ask me to testify at my own hearing for child support. I ended up giving them over $14k and they didn't even have discovery on my behalf. They are so rude and unprofessional. My issue now is that I removed the genuine review I wrote, signed a new fixed rate retainer just for them to show up to court and then they sent me a bill for over $21k. Elizabeth Yang and all her lawyers are frauds. Do not use their services at all. Not to mention, "paying" someone to remove a Google review is illegal. Especially if they lie about charges and still give you a bill for work they never did after the fact. The email from them states clear as day to stop working on my case until I pay. If I never paid them then how is it that Rhoneil showed up to court for my hearing even tho he had no idea what he was doing? If they never got paid then they wouldn't have shown up. Not to mention a retainer is paid upfront and the firm is not supposed to surpass your retainer amount and create a bill that never existed. I hope this review with the proof to go with it allows you all to know that there are better options than them. If I could give them zero stars I would. Filing a complaint as well and writing a BBB report.

I made a costly mistake by not terminating Yang Law sooner. I engaged Yang Law to assist with a 100% amicable divorce, with all stipulations agreed to by both parties. After asking me questions about my case, I was told that it could be handled by a paralegal, so I put my trust in Yang Law and put down a retainer. To date, I have been charged over $4,000 and the only action that has occured is the paralegal filled out and mailed three 2-3 page forms. The paralegal asked for 20+ pieces of financial, and other pertinent information and invoiced thousands of dollars for their "review". I was then sent a boiler plate agreement that did not match my case, given no instruction, and was in told by Yang Law to modify it on my own. I am not an attorney and, when I expressed my reservations about a DIY approach, I was told they were trying to "save me money". I proceeded to do my best with the agreement and send it back to their paralegal. It's been three months since then without feedback. After five frustrating months, I intend to seek another attorney.

I am so grateful that I found Joshua Fabian at Boyd Law to represent me as my lawyer for my restraining order case, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. What stood out to me the most was his kind, warm, and empathetic personality. Dealing with a stressful legal situation and the emotional pain of assault was incredibly difficult, but Joshua’s understanding and compassion made the entire process much more manageable. Not only is Joshua Fabian a genuinely caring person, but he is also exceptionally intelligent and deeply knowledgeable about the law. I always felt confident that he was working diligently on my behalf and had my back throughout the entire process. Joshua was incredibly thorough and took the time to fully understand every aspect of my case and how to get me justice. He ensured he was well-prepared at every step, which made me feel so relieved, and that I didn't have to worry as much, because he had things handled. Joshua Fabian at Boyd Law is an excellent family law attorney who is not only skilled but also truly cares about his clients. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of legal services in this area.

The customer service is very disappointing! Do they really care about their clients? I feel unwelcome at this law office. They don’t respect people’s time and make you wait over an hour after you took the time to schedule the appointment. This is the 5th time they do this to me and it gets worse when they say wait for my call because they won’t call you. The bad part is that I Paid for the whole service already. Probably that is why they treat me like trash.

Originally, I tried local printing shops but they said they needed 10 days and a 1,000 count order minimum as my request was custom. I didn’t have that much time or that kind of money as I’m trying to start my own business right now. I found RushMyPrints through a google search by pure luck and I’m really glad I did. Their website says they can print anything and have it delivered as a rush. I didn’t think this was true because every other print shop can’t do this! I filled out the online form asking for an estimate on a Tuesday at 8:00 PM thinking “well, I guess I’ll hear back tomorrow”. Nope! I got a quote 10 minutes later and they say they can have it delivered to my house by Friday! How is this possible?! Wednesday morning, I email them what I need printed thinking there’s just no way they can fulfill their promise. By Friday at 3:00 pm, I received the order at my doorstep. I was shocked! Surely the quality would be sub-par as nothing can be done this fast, right? Nope! I opened the box and the 250 booklets I ordered were amazing! Extremely professional looking! I couldn’t believe it. They have a customer for life. Don’t waste your money going anywhere else.

I hired Cliff to handle a few business disputes involving my small business. Cliff handled each with speed and care, and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. So far, I am 3 for 3 winning every case I have had Cliff handle. I would not hesitate to use him again or recommend him to anyone.

Hiring Cliff Schneider as my attorney turned out to be one big mistake. I hired Mr. Schneider for a case that involved sexual harassment. When initially presenting my case to him, Mr. Schneider stated that it was very strong, and that he was excited to represent me. Still, I expressed reservations with Mr. Schneider about being a whistle-blower and possibly having my reputation damaged. But Mr. Schneider was encouraging and felt that my cause was very commendable, so I trusted him as my attorney. Then when reaching out to the defending party and exposing my identity, it turned out that Mr. Schneider had not done his homework. It was discovered only after the fact that my complaint fell outside of the state law's statute of limitations. So, not only was my case damaged beyond repair, but so was my time and energy, and most of all - my reputation with the defending company. Then to add insult to injury, Mr. Schneider didn't even apologize following my relieving him as my attorney. I just wanted to share my story in case it could be helpful to others. Good luck!

Panish, and specifically my attorney Jonathan Davidi, did an exceptional job representing me for a very sensitive and emotional matter. In fact, I initially was represented by another law firm for around a year and a half, who left my case completely stagnant. I was skeptical that the matter would ever get resolved. Once I found and retained Panish as my new representation, Mr. Davidi got me a resolution that exceeded my expectations in only a few months. Mr. Davidi's expertise, professionalism, and dedication were evident throughout the entire process. He not only delivered results, but also provided the reassurance and confidence I needed during a difficult time. If you are seeking legal representation, I highly recommend Mr. Davidi and the Panish team.

Nick Yoka and the team of Panish, Shea & Ravipudi LLP did a fantastic job representing my family in a product liability personal injury lawsuit against a corporation that is known to be very aggressive when it comes to litigation. It was our first involvement in a lawsuit, and Nick and Adam patiently guided us through the process every step of the way, strategized with us, conducted thorough research and aggressive settlement negotiations. They were always reliable, knowledgeable, caring, responsive and supportive. They ended up getting us a very high settlement and we are grateful for all they’ve done for our family.

The night of Nov. 14, 2022 was one of the darkest nights of our lives. A city water main had burst and destroyed our home – for the second time in two years. We had lost everything, twice, and were surviving second by second, minute by minute, wondering how we were going to pick up the pieces and move forward. Then a friend introduced us to Jesse Creed, and he agreed to represent us in a lawsuit against the city that had twice destroyed our home. From that moment, my husband and I felt like we could breathe again, that we were safe. We believed that Jesse would fight for us, protect us and make us whole – and he did. For two years, we had complete trust in Jesse and his team, and they never let us down. In the end, we agreed to a settlement with the city that is allowing us to rebuild our future. Along the way, we knew that Jesse would protect us, advocate for us and guide us. He responded to every text and every question. Even when our concerns might have seemed inconsequential, Jesse made it clear that he wanted to know what was on our minds. With Jesse Creed and his team, we went from broken and lost to hopeful. The amount of time he spent on our case was astounding. We can’t imagine where we would be today without him. We would encourage anyone who finds themselves in a horrible situation like this, lost and alone and unsure where to turn, to reach out to Panish Shea, and especially Jesse Creed. For us, it was a life-saving and life-changing decision.

I didn't need to convince Jamon about my case, which was so appreciative. I was already traumatized from my wrongful termination. He simply listen to the facts of my case and agreed with me, without me having to produce additional documentation from what I initially provided. He was so smooth and confident in our facts that he asked me if he could pursue a settlement informally. I gave him permission and we settled with a generous settlement in 6 months, no EEOC, no filing of a lawsuit. He is a rock star attorney as far as I'm concerned. He was a referral from a family friend who told me he was a rock star lawyer and I absolutely agree. Hire Atty Jamon Hicks if you feel you were wrongfully terminated. He'll get you your due justice.

What a Civil Rights Lawyer Can Do for You

A civil rights lawyer focuses on protecting individuals whose constitutional rights have been violated by government authorities, employers, or private organizations. These lawyers specialize in cases involving discrimination, police misconduct, freedom of speech, and other fundamental rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and civil rights laws, such as the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Fair Housing Act.

Whether you've been discriminated against due to race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics, or you believe your civil rights have been violated by a government entity, a civil rights lawyer can help you seek justice, hold wrongdoers accountable, and secure compensation for any harm you've suffered.

When Should I Hire a Civil Rights Lawyer?

You should hire a civil rights lawyer when your constitutional rights or other protected rights have been violated, and you need legal assistance to seek justice. Some key situations in which you may need a civil rights lawyer include:

  • Employment discrimination: If you have faced discrimination at work based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, or disability, a civil rights lawyer can help you file claims under laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Police misconduct or brutality: If you were the victim of police brutality, unlawful arrest, racial profiling, or other forms of misconduct, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit for violations of your Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
  • Freedom of speech or assembly violations: If your First Amendment rights to free speech or peaceful assembly have been restricted by the government, a civil rights lawyer can represent you in challenging the violation.
  • Housing discrimination: If you’ve been denied housing or faced unfair treatment due to your race, ethnicity, gender, or disability, a lawyer can help you file a complaint under the Fair Housing Act.
  • Voter rights violations: If you believe your right to vote has been unfairly suppressed or you’ve faced discrimination in the voting process, a civil rights lawyer can help you fight for your rights.
  • Disability rights violations: If you’ve faced discrimination in accessing public spaces, employment, or services due to a disability, a lawyer can help enforce your rights under the ADA.
  • LGBTQ+ rights violations: If you've experienced discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, or public services, a civil rights lawyer can help you pursue legal remedies.

Hiring a lawyer early on can help you understand your legal options and build a strong case to protect your rights.

What Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Do?

A civil rights lawyer provides legal representation and advocacy to individuals whose rights have been violated. Their work can include:

  • Filing lawsuits: A civil rights lawyer can represent you in court by filing lawsuits against individuals, businesses, or government entities that violated your rights.
  • Advocating for policy changes: Civil rights lawyers often engage in advocacy work, pushing for reforms to laws and policies that infringe upon people's rights.
  • Representing clients in discrimination claims: These lawyers help clients file claims with federal or state agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Negotiating settlements: In many cases, civil rights lawyers work to negotiate settlements for their clients before a case goes to trial, securing compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or legal fees.
  • Defending freedom of expression: Lawyers may represent clients whose rights to free speech, assembly, or protest were violated by government restrictions or other actions.
  • Handling appeals: If your civil rights case has been decided but you wish to appeal the ruling, a civil rights lawyer can help you through the appeals process.

How Are Civil Rights Lawyers Paid?

Civil rights lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: Many civil rights lawyers work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win your case. Their fee is typically a percentage (usually 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rate: For cases that require extensive legal research or litigation, some lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some civil rights lawyers or organizations may work on a pro bono (free) basis or use a sliding fee scale for clients who cannot afford typical legal fees.
  • Flat fee: In specific cases, a lawyer may charge a flat fee for services like drafting legal documents or filing a complaint.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure during your initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a civil rights lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal issue. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases taken on a contingency basis, the lawyer’s fee will typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Many civil rights lawyers charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For straightforward legal tasks, such as filing a complaint with a government agency or drafting legal documents, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Pro bono work: Some civil rights lawyers or nonprofit organizations provide free legal representation in certain cases involving important constitutional or civil rights issues.

Be sure to ask for a detailed estimate of costs during your consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

Top Questions to Ask a Civil Rights Lawyer

Before hiring a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with civil rights cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s employment discrimination, police misconduct, or First Amendment violations.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, hourly rate, or flat fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer to provide an honest assessment of your case, including the strengths, weaknesses, and potential outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Inquire about the lawyer’s experience in cases with similar facts and legal issues.

While exact timelines can vary, ask for an estimate of how long your case may take, from filing to resolution.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may work on parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will handle your legal matter directly.

How to Check the Credibility of a Civil Rights Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable civil rights lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific civil rights experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in civil rights law and have a history of handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience with civil rights cases.
  • Check for advocacy or nonprofit work: Lawyers involved with civil rights organizations, such as the ACLU or NAACP Legal Defense Fund, may have a strong reputation in the civil rights legal community.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • A detailed account of the violation: Provide a written summary of the events, including dates, times, and any people involved in the violation of your rights.
  • Documentation and evidence: Bring any supporting documentation, such as emails, letters, photos, or video footage that may help prove the violation of your rights.
  • Records of complaints or reports: If you’ve filed complaints with a government agency or reported the violation, bring copies of those documents.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes of your case.
  • Information on damages or harm: Be prepared to discuss the harm you’ve suffered due to the violation, such as emotional distress, financial loss, or physical injury.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
