I worked with Mic (Michael) after I opened a business that competed with my former employer. I had been sewed for allegedly violating a covenant not to compete with my prior company. We knew that for various reasons the non-compete was invalid, and Mic fought hard to protect my ability to earn an income in the only business I had known for the past decade. Mic took me on as a client even though I was making almost no money, and at the time it was unclear how I could possibly afford an attorney. In the end he was successful in protecting the business I had built, and we were able to obtain a favorable outcome for myself personally.

I guess that sas the same dvd the doctor told me to take hame , after a failed trail with the pain pump ( I had a spinal headache for 3 days , thank god for a blood patch ) I should have never had the first pump implant.A year and a half hater the motor stalled , then a second pump was installed, now I am on my 3rd pump , thank you for getting some compensation years later , I never was involved in any type of lawsuit before , Nicole made it very easy on my end , and made me understand that the legal action will make Medtronic build better devices for others in the future . I can’t thank Nichol Kreklau enough .

I had never had an interaction with a lawyer before and had no idea where to begin even finding one for my personal injury claim I wanted to make against a major corporation. I knew I was in way over my head but after reviewing Jeff's profile/resume, I called him for a consolation. I got a call back from him right away and he was very engaged and offered to help. We met right away and I hired him on the spot. He was very proactive in regards to staying on top of all things related to the case and had tremendous communication throughout the process. He negotiated on my behalf and he was very firm in representing my wishes. I eventually settled before we filed suit for a generous amount. The process was something I put entirely into Jeff's hands, and he represented me better than I could have ever expected. I endorse Jeff to the fullest and recommend using him whole heartedly.

I am writing to highly recommend Andrew Irlbeck to all of Minnesota State and to anyone that may find themselves in need of an exceptional criminal defense lawyer in the area. My family and I would be remiss if we didn't testify and shared with the world Andrew's unparalleled expertise, professionalism, care and dedication in his field. Andrew is an excellent communicator, who responds with a sense of urgency, ensuring that every detail is clearly explained and understood. Qualities that are crucial in navigating the complexities of the legal system. He broke down terminologies and made them digestible allowing my family and I to always walk away from conversations feeling confident and trusting the process. His attention to details is remarkable, Andrew possesses a profound acumen in law and criminal justice. Undeniable he showcases a high moral compass and unwavering belief in the justice system makes him a standout advocate for his clients. He has experiences and invested time to prove this. Beyond his professional capabilities, Andrew Irlbeck is a great human being, words will never fully describe his level of care, kindness and integrity in all my interactions with him. Listen to me, whether you are in doubt, facing trouble or simply in need of strong advocacy and resources, Andrew is the person to turn to. Waste no time, I spent countless hours calling, reaching out to other lawyers and nothing compares to the service you will receive with him. I and my entire family wholeheartedly recommend Andrew for anyone seeking top- tier legal representation.

John has helped me on his own time with legal matters he usually does not deal with. He spent time and energy helping me knowing there was no way for me to compensate him and then directed me to where I could get more help from those with the knowledge I needed in this particular area. He is kind, thorough and cares for his clients and I have heard him speak of how cases and situations have moved him. I unfortunately can not go higher than five stars - but would if I could.

I highly recommend John Shoemaker for every aspect of Real Estate Law. I have had the opportunity to work closely with him as he fought for my landlords' and my tenants' civil rights, property rights and economic rights. I have witnessed his "full court press style" of fighting for people all the way to the United States Supreme Court. The decisions that he has obtained  have singlehandedly changed the landscape of housing rights and preserved for every one in every socio-economic class the ability to rise up and survive economically going forward.  After working with dozens of attornies I can't think of another one who is as quick on his feet, as passionate or as skilled as Mr. Shoemaker. I've also never encountered one who has the guts and perseverance to fight the good fight all the way to the top for all of us.  Mr. Shoemaker isn't fighting for a big retainer or a one time profit, he's fighting for justice for all of us and for his client to gain economic compensation for being damaged. He has been my first call for help for almost a decade and he will remain my first call for help and my first referral for those who need help. If you have been damaged if your rights have been disregarded or you want to blow the whistle, you could not have a better Advocate to help make you whole again.

Jerry brings experience not only as a great attorney and legal consultant, but also as a great human being. His integrity and respect are evident by simply walking with him through the Courthouse; many know him by name, and offer a smile and friendly 'hello Jerry' as they pass by. Jerry brings IQ to the table as well as EQ, and takes extra time to truly listen to his clients. He works through re-enactments, recreating situations and emotions that can help both him and his clients understand actions taken by individuals. He delivers a big city product in a small town package. I wouldn't want to work with anyone else for any legal consultation. Jerry is the best - period.

He's one of the greatest. Mr. Perry has an amount of knowledge that can only be gained through decades of experience. we are talking about a guy that likes to win, and hes damn good at it too. He met with me multiple times a week, made sure that nothing was left out. He didn't just talk about the case he got a feel for it, connecting with e personally before anything else. He has this sense about him, so precise down to the littlest details. Multiple times he took his personal car during time i know he would of rather been home with his family and we went to the spots where various things had happened and it was thanks to his hard work and dedication we were able to win (by a landslide). Being represented by Mr. Perry gave me a sense of relief. i walked away from this experience not only with a clean record but life lessons and insight into the real world as well. Thank you Mr. Perry

If I could give Josh 10 stars I would! My case started with a late night email of desperation. To my surprise I awoke to an email response the following morning empathizing with my situation and requesting a time to talk. When I called, Josh had already discussed my situation with his colleagues and they were poised to gather the additional necessary information from me as well as provide education about the legal principles that applied to my particular situation. I could not have been more impressed. Josh explained exactly WHAT he intended to do, and the outcome he hoped could be achieved as well as each scenario in between. He was forthcoming about how the firm billed, and offered solutions that resulted in no cost to me. Honestly I thought it all sounded too good to be true... but it only continued to get BETTER. Josh answered emails any time of day and kept me abreast of everything going on behind the scenes, he even called me outside of typical business hours. Josh approached the other party in my case with civility and solutions versus aggression and hostility. I feel confident this influenced the other party’s willingness to listen to his suggestions, ultimately agreeing with Josh’s assessment and working for a mutually agreeable solution. In the end, Josh managed to change the course of MY future... he asked for nothing in return and genuinely seemed thrilled for ME with the outcome. If you need someone to fight for your best interest in a work situation...I can’t imagine ANYONE will do a better job!!

His explanations were concise and clear and I was amazed at his insight into the case. I highly recommend this attorney!

Joshua Newville delivered everything I could want in a timely manner. We were able to cover a fairly complex situation in just over an hour and he was able to offer me several paths to a resolution while clearly identifying the positives and negatives of each scenario, setting me up to pick the best path available to me. With his assistance, we avoided a drawn-out court process for a favorable settlement in a very timely manner. I could not recommend Josh Newville enough for his ability to simplify the complex, his expertise in discrimination law, and his solution-oriented thinking.

I was at basically a dead end dealing with with trust land issues and dealing with the government about the purchase of some land I inherited. With his involvement it came to a positive conclusion benefiting me. I highly recommend his practice and you'll know he really cares about your issues and will do what ever is necessary regardless of the cost to him personally.

Jared Miller is the very best, Tribal attorney I have ever met. When I first contacted Mr. Miller, I left a message, within a couple of hours he called me back. Mr. Miller listened to my entire story without interruption, he is an incredible listener to my legal issues. It is after, I had expressed your concerns, he begins to focus in what the issues real are, confirming with me as we further our dialog. Mr. Miller really cares about my legal problems, never showing, to pressure me at all, he does not work that way, like other attorneys have in my past. Mr. Miller's legal acumen, knowledge of the law is far advanced & superior. In other words, he knows what he is talking about. I have found my experience with attorney Jared Miller as been an incredibly wonderful experience. I would highly recommend him to family & friends. He is a 5 star attorney! Respectfully, Rod

I formally worked as a young professional in high-level management roles, the most recent being a combined role as a Senior Director of Operations and a Nursing Home Administrator (NHA). I contracted a severe, life altering illness (listeriosis) as a result of food poisoning. It caused permanent brain damage resulting in significant, lasting deficits that ended my former career. To be brutally honest, the effects have been utterly devastating. However, I am so thankful to Eric and his colleagues at PritzkerOlsen. He led the team that helped ensure some measure of accountability to those we believed responsible. Nothing can ever make right the injustice done, but his caring nature and his desire to doggedly pursue the case make him a hero in my eyes. I am now able to begin to think about what is ahead as I seek to find my way through a radically changed reality without constant financial worry. I also don't have to rely on my parents for financial security the remainder of my life. For an advocate like no other that believes in what he does and will work to hold those responsible accountable, you could not ask for anyone better than Eric Hageman.

I am a young adult that was involved in a terrible, life changing accident. I was terrified for what my future held. Without the help, guidance and unwavering support from Eric Hageman, I would not be where I am today. Not only did he win my case with an outcome better than I could have ever imagined, but he truly saved my life. Throughout the whole process, Eric stood my side and was a warrior for me when I was not strong enough myself. Eric is personally invested in helping to rebuild his clients lives every day. I am forever grateful for his hard work, dedication and compassion.

Mr. Leyderman executed exceptionally well on my fundamental legal request regarding a non-compete. His thoroughness and completeness of relevant legal case law was simply outstanding - typically most professionals will do the minimum to get by, Mr. Leyderman is one of those rare individuals who looked at all angles of the legal matter factually from all sides, one word sums up my interaction - OUTSTANDING. I give Mr. Leyderman my highest and strongest recommendation.

When I called looking for lawyers for my criminal case, no one seemed to want to listen to my side. They quoted me very high prices and didn't seem to care about what happened in my case. Being charged with a crime for the first time is terrifying. When I spoke with Sarah, she listened and asked questions. I instantly felt reassured that I was going to be okay. Not only did Sarah listen to my side of the story, but she used what I told her to write a motion to get the case dismissed and the case got dismissed. I was blown away by her performance. Sarah literally saved my future.

I will recommend Rhia to everyone I know without hesitation. Her knowledge , experience and understanding of the intricacies necessary to successfully navigate the legal process were head and shoulders above my expectations. My dissoulution with child process took over a year and a half. Choosing a lawyer was tough because let's be honest, lawyers have a certain reputation when generalized as a whole(Not Rhia). I found a lawyer who fit all of those stereotypes (Not Rhia) and promptly fired her in exchange for Rhia's services. Rhia was responsive , communicated clearly (without all that lawyer babble) and at no point did I ever feel like she wasn't paying attention. She even worked through her maternity leave when my family experienced a crisis . Every step of the way Rhia ensured I was informed and comfortable with each choice we made together. She presented facts, options, advice and so much more. In the long preparation for my case , I compiled a truckload of exhibits and information , all of which Rhia reviewed analyzed and utilized in my case. I was very impressed with the preparation process. Then we went to trial. RHIA KICKED ASS. Part of me feels like I should leave it at that but I will elaborate. Rhia is an expert in the courtroom. She was calm cool collected and calculated. Every Direct or Cross examination of a witness exemplified superior preparation and excellent skill in uncovering the truths of the situation. Wow. Words can't express how much Rhia has exceeded my expectations. If you have read this far, you are like me when I started this process. Doing whatever you can to find the right attorney and not get ripped off. Look no further because you will never find another attorney who is more fair. Honestly I would feel guilty in just paying Rhia the amount she asked for . She truly went above and beyond every step of the way. You would be crazy to even look up another lawyer.

I have been in turmoil for over a year now since deciding to file for my divorce/custody case. During a time of desperation when I needed help protecting my child and the attorney I had been working with remained unresponsive, I sought out help from a family advocate center. I did my research from the list the center had provided of lawyers they knew could handle my special circumstances and immediately zeroed in on Mrs. Gronberg. I have been thankful of this choice every day! Rhia responded to my very firsy inquiry with quick, helpful answers and the assurance that she was confidently proficient in handling cases like mine. She even went as far as to provide me with resources I could use to help myself while I weighed out retaining a new attorney. Since retaining her, Rhia has handled everything from small questions to urgent matters in a manner that's made me feel she genuinely cares about how my family is impacted every step of the way, and not once making me feel like I'm just another case on her list working/waiting on her time. She has even responded to a handful of pressing matters late at night and on weekends- which continues to be unexpected in the legal world, but has made all the difference in my case and life! Even during those "off-hour" responses, Rhia's pricing has remained the same, which is by far more fair and worthwhile than I've ever seen in any simar situation! My gratitude towards her attentiveness and understanding is immeasurable. These proceedings have not been easy at any step, but Rhia's expertise and encouragement have kept me going through every uncertainty and heart-wrenching blow as s a father in the judicial system. I'm certain I would have folded long ago and regretted it every day since and felt forced/defeated into surrendering my child to the will of my (soon to be) ex if I were under any other attorney's advisement. Whether you need a reliable professional to simply review a single legal document, or you need a compassionate attorney willing to partner for the long haul, Rhia will make you feel secure and like a top priority every step of the way. She's got the legal know-how with the personal touch of real care. I will continue to recommend her to anyone I meet in need of legal services!

I had been Involved in a personal injury case that had drug out for about 2 years. I was supposedly being "represented " by a lawyer hired by Liberty Mutual. This other lawyer gave me release to sign that would entitle me to $548 and Liberty Mutual would gain $24,452. I knew something wasn't right and I started to call a few lawyers to see if they could give me advice or help me determine what to do. After contacting two other lawyers that wouldn't even look at my documents, I came accross Mr. Lavoie. Ben took the time first to listen, then read through my documents. He eased my anxieties and lowered my stress levels instantly. He assured me he would do absolutely everything he could do for me. I quickly found my self doing something I thought I would never do...."Trust a Lawyer!" Within a few short weeks, he settled my case for $5400, and even lowered his fees so I received even more money in my pocket. I cannot explain how happy I am with what Ben has done for me. He is a true gentleman and wonderful man. Thank you Ben!!

Our case was a complex Workers Compensation case, which was initially filed in the state of Indiana, since my husband worked for an over the road trucking company based out of Indiana. We reside in Minnesota and the injury occured in Colorado. From what I had read, the case could be transferred to Minnesota. I called several attorneys and Ben Lavoie was the only one who took the time to look at the case and have it filed in Minnesota for us. From that point on, we never felt like we were alone in the complex, drawnout Workers Compensation system. My husband's case took several years to finalize and yet Ben never got discouraged or let us get discouraged. He helped us obtain a very fair settlement for both future lost wages and future medical expenses. I have recommended Ben to a few people already and would do so for anyone in need of an attorney within Ben's practice areas. By the time our case settled, we didn't just have an attorney, we had a true friend going to bat for us. Amazing customer service and extremely professional. If you are reading this review, please do no hesitate to contact and hire Ben Lavoie.

What a Civil Rights Lawyer Can Do for You

A civil rights lawyer focuses on protecting individuals whose constitutional rights have been violated by government authorities, employers, or private organizations. These lawyers specialize in cases involving discrimination, police misconduct, freedom of speech, and other fundamental rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and civil rights laws, such as the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Fair Housing Act.

Whether you've been discriminated against due to race, gender, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics, or you believe your civil rights have been violated by a government entity, a civil rights lawyer can help you seek justice, hold wrongdoers accountable, and secure compensation for any harm you've suffered.

When Should I Hire a Civil Rights Lawyer?

You should hire a civil rights lawyer when your constitutional rights or other protected rights have been violated, and you need legal assistance to seek justice. Some key situations in which you may need a civil rights lawyer include:

  • Employment discrimination: If you have faced discrimination at work based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, or disability, a civil rights lawyer can help you file claims under laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Police misconduct or brutality: If you were the victim of police brutality, unlawful arrest, racial profiling, or other forms of misconduct, a lawyer can help you file a lawsuit for violations of your Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
  • Freedom of speech or assembly violations: If your First Amendment rights to free speech or peaceful assembly have been restricted by the government, a civil rights lawyer can represent you in challenging the violation.
  • Housing discrimination: If you’ve been denied housing or faced unfair treatment due to your race, ethnicity, gender, or disability, a lawyer can help you file a complaint under the Fair Housing Act.
  • Voter rights violations: If you believe your right to vote has been unfairly suppressed or you’ve faced discrimination in the voting process, a civil rights lawyer can help you fight for your rights.
  • Disability rights violations: If you’ve faced discrimination in accessing public spaces, employment, or services due to a disability, a lawyer can help enforce your rights under the ADA.
  • LGBTQ+ rights violations: If you've experienced discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, or public services, a civil rights lawyer can help you pursue legal remedies.

Hiring a lawyer early on can help you understand your legal options and build a strong case to protect your rights.

What Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Do?

A civil rights lawyer provides legal representation and advocacy to individuals whose rights have been violated. Their work can include:

  • Filing lawsuits: A civil rights lawyer can represent you in court by filing lawsuits against individuals, businesses, or government entities that violated your rights.
  • Advocating for policy changes: Civil rights lawyers often engage in advocacy work, pushing for reforms to laws and policies that infringe upon people's rights.
  • Representing clients in discrimination claims: These lawyers help clients file claims with federal or state agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Negotiating settlements: In many cases, civil rights lawyers work to negotiate settlements for their clients before a case goes to trial, securing compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or legal fees.
  • Defending freedom of expression: Lawyers may represent clients whose rights to free speech, assembly, or protest were violated by government restrictions or other actions.
  • Handling appeals: If your civil rights case has been decided but you wish to appeal the ruling, a civil rights lawyer can help you through the appeals process.

How Are Civil Rights Lawyers Paid?

Civil rights lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: Many civil rights lawyers work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win your case. Their fee is typically a percentage (usually 25% to 40%) of the settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rate: For cases that require extensive legal research or litigation, some lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some civil rights lawyers or organizations may work on a pro bono (free) basis or use a sliding fee scale for clients who cannot afford typical legal fees.
  • Flat fee: In specific cases, a lawyer may charge a flat fee for services like drafting legal documents or filing a complaint.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure during your initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Civil Rights Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a civil rights lawyer varies depending on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal issue. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases taken on a contingency basis, the lawyer’s fee will typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Many civil rights lawyers charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For straightforward legal tasks, such as filing a complaint with a government agency or drafting legal documents, flat fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Pro bono work: Some civil rights lawyers or nonprofit organizations provide free legal representation in certain cases involving important constitutional or civil rights issues.

Be sure to ask for a detailed estimate of costs during your consultation to understand the financial commitment involved.

Top Questions to Ask a Civil Rights Lawyer

Before hiring a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with civil rights cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s employment discrimination, police misconduct, or First Amendment violations.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, hourly rate, or flat fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer to provide an honest assessment of your case, including the strengths, weaknesses, and potential outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Inquire about the lawyer’s experience in cases with similar facts and legal issues.
  5. What is the timeline for resolving my case?
While exact timelines can vary, ask for an estimate of how long your case may take, from filing to resolution.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may work on parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will handle your legal matter directly.

How to Check the Credibility of a Civil Rights Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable civil rights lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific civil rights experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in civil rights law and have a history of handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience with civil rights cases.
  • Check for advocacy or nonprofit work: Lawyers involved with civil rights organizations, such as the ACLU or NAACP Legal Defense Fund, may have a strong reputation in the civil rights legal community.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a civil rights lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • A detailed account of the violation: Provide a written summary of the events, including dates, times, and any people involved in the violation of your rights.
  • Documentation and evidence: Bring any supporting documentation, such as emails, letters, photos, or video footage that may help prove the violation of your rights.
  • Records of complaints or reports: If you’ve filed complaints with a government agency or reported the violation, bring copies of those documents.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes of your case.
  • Information on damages or harm: Be prepared to discuss the harm you’ve suffered due to the violation, such as emotional distress, financial loss, or physical injury.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
