We are from the UK and have been coming to Las Vegas for 20 years. We have always been treated with the utmost respect. Following an incident in a casino, we felt very badly discriminated against which left us with no option but to obtain legal advice. The review below is from my partner. I was the handyman Laura Payne hired to do demo/construction on her home. It was an initial 3 day bid, which due to scope creep, turned into much more work, turning the full scope into 4-5 days work (all discussed and approved, though roughly understood on her part). On the beginning of the 3rd day, I arrived at her multimillion dollar estate in a gated community to find I had tools stolen out of her house by an electrician who came in without me there. Her response was to have her son and a strange man come into the closet while I was working, accuse me of lying about my tools and terminate her and my contract. It escalated verbally but I agreed to leave if I was paid for my time and supplies and got my tools. They then physically choked me on her front porch in broad daylight. The cops were called. And stories were gathered. Her, her son (who physically partook in and watched the battery), and the assailant Alfredo denied choking me or him even touching me at all.
Her house is heavily video monitored, so I told the cops to pull the footage. He said he only could if they offered. Which they fully “cooperated” with the cop. The Paynes showed the cop altered footage that included unaltered clips of me bringing thousands of dollars of tools out of the house, the verbal altercations with Alfredo and son, but conveniently was missing the first minute of the clip where Alfredo choked me on her porch and attempted to shove me down 2 flights of stairs.
Laura and her family/friends impeded and obstructed an investigation for battery on her personal property. I have zero legal recourse to have that crime investigated accurately now. They also put me in physical danger im a position where my egress, ability to defend myself or have an objective 3rd party were limited, if not completely unavailable.
The optics/hindsight on this is scary.
I have contacted the Nevada State Bar Association, her community HOA and intend on contacting the news. Laura paid me for supplies and the first 2 days but did not pay me for any of my time on the last day. She has since retroactively offered, but I told her I do not want her money. This is more than about money. This is about her ethics as a person and lawyer.
As someone who has had the unfortunate, traumatic experience of working with her, I can positively say that she lacks ethical integrity completely.
I did not deserve to be physically assaulted. There is no excuse for that.
Attached are pictures of the project and scratches on my neck and shoulders from Alfredo choking me (2 days post incident).
Though I was verbally defending myself, I did not physically touch anyone.
Personal context: I’m currently a handyman/ punch carpenter. But drywaller/painter by trade. 10 years experience in my field. I have 2 college degrees; graduated from Western Michigan University in 2017 with a double major in English and journalism, minor ad promo. I spent the first 10 years of my professional life working for non profits and juvenile detention centers; helping marginalized populations learn to express themselves in nonviolent, creative ways. I finished my stint in CMH/social services in 2019 as a house manager for 1 of 3 homeless shelters in SW Michigan.
That said, I have given back and given to the good in this world. I’ve been a community leader.
This is unacceptable.

This “lawyer” hired my husband for a multi day demolition and construction project, which half way through after changing the scope of the job repeatedly, sent in her son and another man to threaten him to leave without payment. These actions were unprompted. Then her male friend proceeds to C H O K E him as he’s leaving her doorsteps which she asked him to do. there are scratches on his neck from this, police took pictures. These actions were on her ring camera footage, but this lawyer conveniently deleted the exact segment of the footage where her friend was assaulting him by the time the cops arrived. Wealthy Personal injury lawyer causing injury to poor working class folks. The man I love life was in danger because she was unhappy with a job she doesnt know how to do herself that she keeps requesting changes on.. I’ve never been so appalled by a person before, and I do not think she has a soul.

I received a DUI in a very small town in northern Nevada after allegedly running a stop sign. My wife and I were on vacation from Arizona and it was a very stressful series of events. The closest lawyers I was able to find was in Reno and there were not too many choices. After thoroughly reviewing each profile of the lawyers that were available I chose to hire Lee Hotchkins. Lee was known as being fierce in court and he had years of experience defending cases such as mine. The trial eventually occurred 9 months after the incident. During the 9 month period Lee made many motions to dismiss and the prosecution opposed each motion. The case file containing emails back and forth with the DA was substantial. No video evidence was ever turned over. Lee continued to push to the point where a different prosecutor assumed the case after the original prosecutor became frustrated. On the day of the trial the DA made a deal to drop the DUI to a reckless driving citation. The plea was very unexpected and surprised Lee almost as much as it surprised me and my wife. Lee Hotchkins is admirable, a man of his word who fights fiercely for the rights of his clients in a passionate and forceful manner. Lee will not beat around the bush and will astutely advise you in your own best interest. My wife and I gave Lee a very big hug after the trial. Without his council the ramifications would have been much more severe. If you are in the position that I found myself in, I would highly recommend that you call Lee Hotchkins and get him on your case immediately. Trust me, you can't afford not to. Thank you, Lee.

I have worked with Daniel Judd quite a few times for a variety of family situations, and he has always been an immense help. He has also been nothing but friendly and understanding to my family while we struggled.
When my Dad was terminally ill, Judd managed to squeeze us in within the week to help draft a will for him, and he has once again been assisting us with the aftermath of my Dad’s passing. All of the appointments my family has made were scheduled within a week and a half, so there was no major wait time to get consultations.
Daniel Judd has also been very available and flexible in answering questions, which I greatly appreciate. I’m in my 20s and have never had to get an attorney, so it’s very helpful to have someone be patient and walk me through the process. He has also been available for advice relating to the next steps of our proceedings.

I wouldn't even give a star if I could I would give NEGATIVE !!! This man absolutely wasted my time and pretty much took my money. He swore up and down I shouldn't have even been arrested and how we were going to win well as soon as I paid him he never kept in touch nor would he call back every time we went to court he had no idea about my extremely SIMPLE case and ended up threatening me to plea guilty which if I knew then what I know now I never would have done so. My public defender later on said he could've gotten me off for free!!! I literally called for someone overdosing and had picked up their spoon well I got felony possession for it even tho it was just residue and I had nothing in my system...he told me if I fought it and didn't just plea guilty that they'd send me to prison which is BS it's mandatory probation and again the good Samaritan law should have made this not even happen...sorry for the novel I just don't want anyone else to ever have to lose out on money and time in their life they'll never get back as I have done over two years because of this...oh and I never even had a ticket prior to this!!!

Eckley keach should not work here. From speaking to him a while ago he was very rude and unprofessional. He just wants an easy paycheck in my opinion. Robert Langford acted interested in my criminal case and as though he wanted to help--I paid him the entire retainer up front. One week later, he very publicly withdrew from representation and kept the entire retainer for doing absolutely zero legal work. On top of that, he personally insulted and degraded me. I have never experienced a more terrible attorney--he will absolutely take your money and withdraw ASAP. Do NOT hire him unless you want to be scammed.
