I retained Mark and his team to represent my interests related to a very complicated civil matter potentially worth several million dollars. The amount of preparation for trial was extensive and lengthy, however the outcome was well worth it. I felt throughout the process my interests were well protected. I couldn't have asked for a more competent attorney and have since referred numerous clients. In my business I deal with hundreds of law firms across the US and Mark's firm is well within the top 5 firms I have ever dealt with, either professionally or personally.

The first time I met Mark and his partner, my first impression was that they were the standard run of the mill lawyers and would do a solid job. I had no idea what to expect just that they were highly recommended. I am glad to say I was very wrong about these two! First class all the way. Mark has been named one of the best lawyers in the nation. It is and continues to be a well deserved title. I never felt I was being ignored, or lied to in anyway. If I ever felt overwhelmed and upset, Mark got me refocused and back on track. We seen it through to the end and I am glad we did. While I hope I don't have to work with him again on another case, I definitely would have no qualms and would do it again in a heartbeat. Mark and his staff took care of me and I can not be more thankful for it.

David Blessing is truly an amazing human. He has went above and beyond and is in this profession for all of the right reasons. Compassionate and empathetic. Never felt rushed when talking with him and he took the time to really make sure he understood all facets of what the issues were and to understand my position as well as how that translated into what legal options we had. I would HIGHLY recommend him. Truly a one of a kind.

Clyde Bennett is a absolute gem for legal representation in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. His knowledge and delivery of legal services is unmatched. I trust/recommend him to others as a first choice professional lawyer and will utilize his services again if needed, should he accept. He is a leader, well respected by judges and prosecutors throughout the system. When he enters the courtroom, "It's about business". I thank him humbly for his representation of my case.

Their website states they handle bad faith insurance claims but they refused a meeting to discuss exactly that. No service isn’t as bad as incompetent service, but it still warrants a poor review.

When my mother fell and broke her shoulder a few years ago, my sister and I entrusted her rehabilitation to a local nursing home. Unfortunately, one of the employees at the facility was negligent in my mother’s care and caused further injury to her shoulder, causing her to return to the hospital for further surgery. When I learned that an investigator from the Attorney General’s office recommended that criminal charges be pressed against the individual, I knew that I also needed to pursue the matter civilly to ensure that my mother was compensated for the injuries caused by that negligent employee. A friend of mine recommended Andy List, and from my first telephone conference with him, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Andy took care of everything to prepare this case for a potential trial against the individual and the facility, and then acted as a skillful negotiator in obtaining a favorable settlement for my mother. I am forever grateful to Andy and his assistant Linda for helping our family through this very difficult time.

It was with some reluctance that I began the process of considering the pursuit of a wrongful death claim against a pharmaceutical company on behalf of my Mother's estate. I was not sure how to proceed. Thus I began the process of looking at various web sites for various legal firms, and followed that with several phone calls. When I called Clark, Perdue and List Co, LPA I was treaded with a kindness, courtesy, and professionalism that seemed to be a cut above the rest. Linda, the Paralegal I most frequently communicated with had exceptional legal knowledge and skill. She had the ability to explain in an extremely clear manner the answers to all my many questions. The staff was very thorough in obtaining all the records and information needed to support the claim. The lawyer I dealt with, Andrew List, certainly went above and beyond the call of duty in effort and completion of meeting all the requirements and deadlines the court placed on this type of claim. I was frequently updated regarding the process of the case. Clark, Perdue and List Co, LPA far exceeded my expectations in bringing to a successful closure this case. It is with great confidence and respect that I would highly recommend this legal firm.

Worst experience ever, My guardian ad litem was biased and only listened to the other party, she blatantly disregarded everything I mentioned to her. She mentioned that she wanted to get this case right because she was burned before by a family, she made a personal decision despite a professional decision therefore leaving my child in a completely inappropriate situation. When I reached out to her to have the report changed or updated she did not respond. Her name is Rebecca brooks also known as Becky brooks. I pray that no parent has to face what I have faced

Whether it be contract law, tax advice, or estate planning, Bob is superior to others out there. BHMK has served as trusted our legal advisors for the last 3 years on dozens of M&A transactions. Brian Hirsch and Stephen Hoffsis are our primary lawyers throughout this time and they truly understand our needs and get things done in a very timely manner. Importantly, we do not feel nickel and dimed and they have been very reasonable with fees. Overall highly recommend and a fantastic client-focused, middle-market firm in Ohio.

Connick law firm had myself and 100 plus victims removed from the Old Spice deodorant class action lawsuit. Connick law firm used myself and the 100 plus victims to get the old spice deodorant settlement amount. Connick law firm accused me of not communicating with their law firm. I stayed in constant communication with the lawyer and paralegal involved in the case. I have emails between myself and Connick law firm. I was never given the opportunity to provide my evidence to the court or judge before being removed from the class action lawsuit/settlement. Myself and the 100 plus injured victims are entitled to our part of the settlement because were used to get settlement amount. I will never waive my rights to my portion of the settlement. I need someone to help myself and the 100 plus victims removed from the Old Spice deodorant class action lawsuit/settlement get our part of the settlement. We was used as pawns to get a settlement amount and was never given our percentage of the settlement.

Tom has keen perception and unique abilities to cut through the complexity, remains highly focus in developing excellent strategies and skillfully presented my case with clarity, straightforwardness and most of all with comprehension. During discovery Tom unfolded layers of convoluted wrongdoings, deceitful actions, fabrication of documents, backdating and found evidence contradicting opposing party testimony. Tom has outstanding memory, he recalls even the smallest details. Tom is very skilled with structuring depositions and asking the right questions at the right time, he succeeded in obtaining testimonies supporting my case. Navigating the justice system ( cops, courts , and corrections) is not for the faint of heart. Once a person becomes a defendant the ball is no longer in their court and trusting the process is tough. I am so grateful for the guidance and legal representation that my family received from Attorney Bret Jordan. Our family worked with the Becker Law Firm to investigate the medical circumstances surrounding our father’s passing following heart surgery. During our first conversation, Romney Cullers explained the legal process, potential challenges, and possible outcomes of our case. Romney’s honesty and transparency was a determining factor in our decision to proceed with Becker Law - and indeed was a great introduction, reflective of our subsequent interaction with the rest of the firm’s staff. Romney’s professional and thorough representation was invaluable, and ultimately led to a positive resolution of our case. Just as importantly, the kind guidance and patient assistance of everyone at the Becker Law Firm made the process easier on our entire family. For that, Becker deserves our deep gratitude and highest commendation. We do not wish for any family to endure a loss similar to ours. However, we sincerely hope those who find themselves in that situation, can receive assistance like the one we found at the Becker Law Firm.

Attorney managing my cases left the firm. Now I have two ongoing cases with no support after reaching out, and was sent the bill. Little action was done on the cases prior as she said she would get to it-but never did- but now its starting to be too long after waiting several months, and now I have no POC. Do i need to find a new attorney? Will the things she said she would do get done? Feels like I'm just a client lost in the grey space.

I worked with Jack D’Andrea in a very complicated case while he was with a previous firm. A partner of the firm handled most of the representation in court on day one, but when Jack took the reins on the second day of court it was VERY clear who should have been the front man on the case for us the whole time. Additionally, Jack’s documentation was extremely thorough and set the tone for the entire case through all of its correspondence and processing. The most admirable thing I saw though, was that Jack’s attitude was very clearly focused on us as his clients and it never felt like we were paying another attorney just to chum it up over a lunch. As an engineer that has made a living over fine details, I have to say Jack’s understanding and articulation of the case and every nuance in and outside of court was exceptional. I would use him again in a heartbeat if I ever needed legal services in Ohio.

I lost my home because he did not file an answer to the complaint that I gave him on the third day after I received it. I received a summary judgement and was unable to get it overturned. I don't know if I could have won my case but I had strong evidence and I also was unble to bring the lender to the table to negotiate a settlement. I paid him so he had no reason not to do a simple thing as answer the complaint in a timely manner or in the correct county. When I received this information from the courts, I called for two days trying to reach him and finally told him I was seeking new representation. Only after I told him he was fired did he return my calls. He never did give me a reason why he never answered the complaint.

Horrible and incompetent. My kids ended up hating her because of how massively annoying and disrupting she could be in pursuit of a fee.

What a Class Action Lawyer Can Do for You

A class action lawyer specializes in representing groups of individuals who have suffered similar harm or injury due to the actions of a company, organization, or government entity. These lawyers file lawsuits on behalf of a large group (the "class") of individuals, seeking compensation or relief for damages caused by things like defective products, environmental harm, consumer fraud, or employment violations. Class action lawyers are skilled in managing complex legal processes that involve numerous plaintiffs and large-scale legal claims.

If you’ve been harmed by a product, service, or corporate action that also affected many others, a class action lawyer can help you join or initiate a collective lawsuit to seek justice and compensation.

When Should I Hire a Class Action Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a class action lawyer if you and a group of people have experienced harm or damages under similar circumstances. Common scenarios include:

  • Defective products: If a product you purchased caused injury, illness, or other harm due to a defect, a class action lawyer can help you join a lawsuit against the manufacturer or retailer.
  • Consumer fraud: If a company has misled consumers through false advertising, deceptive business practices, or scams, a class action lawsuit can be filed to seek compensation on behalf of all affected customers.
  • Employment violations: If your employer has violated labor laws - such as failing to pay overtime, denying benefits, or enforcing discriminatory policies - a class action lawyer can represent a group of employees seeking justice.
  • Data breaches: If a company’s negligence led to a data breach that compromised your personal information, you may be able to join a class action lawsuit seeking compensation for the breach.
  • Environmental damage: If you or your community has been harmed by environmental hazards, such as pollution or toxic waste, a class action lawyer can file a collective lawsuit against the responsible party.
  • Unfair financial practices: If a bank, lender, or credit card company engaged in fraudulent or illegal financial practices, a class action lawyer can help a group of consumers recover losses.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process helps ensure that you meet legal deadlines and that your case is properly prepared for a potential class action lawsuit.

What Does a Class Action Lawyer Do?

A class action lawyer provides a range of legal services to represent large groups of individuals in lawsuits. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Investigating the claim: The lawyer investigates the facts of the case, including gathering evidence of harm, identifying potential plaintiffs, and determining whether a class action lawsuit is the best course of action.
  • Filing the lawsuit: The lawyer files the class action lawsuit on behalf of the named plaintiffs (the representative plaintiffs) and others who have experienced similar harm.
  • Class certification: One of the first steps in a class action is getting the court to certify the case as a class action. The lawyer will argue that the case meets the legal requirements for certification, such as the number of plaintiffs and commonality of harm.
  • Communicating with plaintiffs: Class action lawyers keep plaintiffs informed throughout the process, including notifying potential class members about the lawsuit and giving them the opportunity to join the case.
  • Negotiating settlements: Many class action lawsuits are resolved through settlements before going to trial. The lawyer will negotiate with the defendant to reach a settlement that compensates the class for their losses.
  • Representing the class in court: If the case goes to trial, the lawyer will represent the entire class, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and arguing for the plaintiffs.
  • Managing claims distribution: Once a settlement or verdict is reached, the lawyer helps manage the process of distributing compensation to class members, ensuring that all eligible plaintiffs receive their share of the award.

How Are Class Action Lawyers Paid?

Class action lawyers are typically paid on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if the class action lawsuit is successful. Here’s how their payment structure generally works:

  • Contingency fee: Class action lawyers usually take a percentage of the settlement or judgment as their fee. This percentage typically ranges from 25% to 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the amount of work involved.
  • No upfront fees: You generally won’t have to pay any fees upfront. The lawyer covers the costs of the lawsuit, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs, and is reimbursed from the settlement or award.
  • Court approval of fees: In class action cases, the court must approve the lawyer’s fee to ensure that it is reasonable. This helps protect class members from paying excessive legal fees.

Always discuss fee arrangements with your lawyer at the outset to understand how much they will be paid if the lawsuit is successful.

How Much Does a Class Action Lawyer Cost?

Class action lawyers generally work on contingency, meaning they don’t get paid unless the lawsuit is successful. Here’s a breakdown of potential costs:

  • Contingency fee: Class action lawyers typically charge between 25% and 40% of the settlement or judgment. For example, if the lawsuit settles for $10 million and the lawyer’s fee is 30%, the lawyer would receive $3 million, and the remaining $7 million would be distributed to the class members.
  • Court costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer will deduct the costs associated with the lawsuit, such as court filing fees, expert witness fees, and investigation costs. These costs are usually reimbursed from the settlement or award.
  • No cost if the case is lost: If the class action lawsuit is unsuccessful, you typically won’t owe any legal fees or costs. The lawyer assumes the financial risk of the case.

It’s important to discuss potential costs and fee structures with your lawyer before the case proceeds to ensure transparency and avoid any surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Class Action Lawyer

Before hiring a class action lawyer, you should ask key questions to ensure they have the experience and skills needed to handle your case effectively. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with class action lawsuits?
Ensure the lawyer has a successful track record of handling class action cases, particularly in the area of law relevant to your case (e.g., consumer fraud, employment, defective products).
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Confirm that the lawyer charges a contingency fee, and ask for a detailed explanation of what percentage they charge and how expenses will be handled.
  3. What are the chances of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of your case and the likelihood of certification as a class action.
  4. How long will the process take?
Class action lawsuits can take time to resolve, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the case to last, from certification to settlement or trial.
  5. Will I need to appear in court?
Ask if your participation will be required in court or whether the lawyer will handle most aspects of the case on behalf of the class.
  6. What is the expected settlement or recovery?
Ask about potential outcomes, including the expected settlement or damages, and how compensation will be distributed among class members.
  7. What happens if the case is lost?
Confirm that you won’t owe any legal fees or expenses if the case is unsuccessful.

How to Check the Credibility of a Class Action Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable class action lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for class action experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in class action cases and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate in class action lawsuits.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have been involved in class action cases.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Membership in organizations like the American Association for Justice (AAJ) or specific class action sections can indicate the lawyer’s expertise in handling large-scale litigation.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a class action lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant information and documents. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Details of the harm you’ve experienced: Provide a clear explanation of the harm or damages you’ve suffered, whether it’s a defective product, financial loss, or harm due to employment violations.
  • Evidence of the issue: Bring any documents, emails, receipts, contracts, or photos that support your claim. If others have experienced the same harm, gather their testimonies or contact information if possible.
  • Information about the responsible party: If you know which company, organization, or government entity is responsible, bring any information you have about them, including names, addresses, or prior legal actions.
  • Questions about the process: Prepare a list of questions about the class action process, your potential role in the lawsuit, and what you can expect in terms of outcomes and timelines.
  • Contact information for other potential class members (if available): If you know others who have been similarly affected, provide their contact information so the lawyer can assess whether they may join the class action.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer evaluate your case effectively and provide the best legal guidance for pursuing a class action lawsuit.
