Worked extensively with Charles on a business deal. His expertise in contracts, and experience with the grind of business deals was able to get me a better deal than I initially thought I would. He was willing to work the hours needed to close the deal- nights, weekends, whatever. Was really happy to have his help on this.

I worked with a Jones and Keller attorney (Brad Hamilton) to negotiate a commercial lease for my gym. I am brand new to the commercial leasing side, so at $500/hour, I expected a bulletproof lease. Brad did not include any language around exclusivity of services in the building, nor did he offer it as something we might want to include. I paid his rate willingly, expecting him to surface potential problems. My landlord has since allowed another gym to move in next door to me. Brad was more interested in telling me about how much he does CrossFit than taking care of my lease and my needs. He has been radio silent and won’t respond to phone calls and emails. He’s probably too busy telling people about how fast his Fran time is. 0/10, would not recommend. This guy is a joke.

A cesspool of legal malpractice. I watched several parents go through agonizing ordeals despite ORPC being aware (and failing to intervene). Lots of embedded institutional bias, particularly towards Hispanic clients. In my opinion, ORPC needs a leadership change and more judicial scrutiny.

I was trying to get in contact with then for 4 weeks regarding my lawyer and I only got a response after leaving nasty voice-mail on their general mailbox. Once I got in contact with them they fairly quickly reached out to my lawyer and he became response after that so I do appreciate that. But then after I needed to speak with them again I've called 5 times and I'm still awaiting a call back. It's very frustrating.

Throughout the duration of my interactions with Tegtmeier, I found his behavior to be extremely inappropriate and disrespectful. I had to tell him to withdraw and had a different attorney represent me. He consistently came across as rude and displayed a clear disdain towards individuals of color, including myself. Despite my attempts to maintain professionalism and cooperation, I could sense an underlying prejudice in his demeanor towards me. It became evident to me, and subsequently to others in similar situations, that his representation was marred by discrimination against minority groups. I have since learned that I am not the only individual who has felt marginalized and mistreated by Tegtmeier's actions.

I definitely would not recommend this attorney if he cant spare a single minute to talk to a possible client why should you trust him to represent you?

Bruce Rohde has represented me, my corporation and my real estate business since 1984. We have never lost in court or settlement. I started with him in his early days and watched as he became one of the top Denver laywers based on the size of the judgments and wins he has accomplished. I would say his best feature is that he listens and never forgets a detail. He will recall something I said 20 years ago. Kind of creepy- in a good way. In the only trial in which I was a defendant, every asset I owned was at risk. During 5 days of testimony, mostly lies by the plaintiffs, Mr. Rohde absolutely blew one witness after another up on the stand, and after I won, the court's staff came up to him and said it was the best performance they had ever seen. The jury agreed. You will not go wrong with Bruce Rohde.

There is no better firm, skilled attorneys, or group of professionals to trust when you find yourself in crises. We are specifically talking about Nathan Osborn (Attorney), Alyson Evett (Attorney), and their team (Bonnie Hakes Finance Coordinator), Connie Streich (Paralegal), Amanda Bielak (Assistant) at Montgomery Little & Soran, PC. From day one we felt protected, on the absolute worst days we felt unconditionally supported, and until the very successful end we were completely satisfied. When you find yourself in need, and you need someone to help you, call Nathan and his firm, it will change everything. It did for us!

Nate Osborn and his team at Montgomery Little have provided commercial legal services to several of our companies over the years. They are tremendous advocates for their clients and can quickly get to the root of the issues and deal with them in a practical way, allowing us to make the best possible stratgeic decisions. Their approach and advocacy can help put your mind at ease when dealing with what are typically stressful circumstances. We would highly recommend them!

Worst experience ever! I spoke with John Coaty regarding HOA law and he had no experience with this type of law even though his firm advertises they do. I had to quote him all the laws and finally asked for his opinion and he had nothing to say except "this is going to be really expensive". He had no clue about the HOA reform laws in CO that happened in 2017 and 2018 and wanted me to explain everything to him. Hello, I need your expertise John, I am not here to educate you. Stay away from this firm, they are a bunch of idiots looking to fleece the public.

Do not recommend Reams & Reams. Had a simple Will estate transfer and it’s cost me over $3000 for a few hours of work, if that. You are not able to send an email or ask a question without getting charged $25 for a simple letter, a 1 minute phone call, or a one sentence email in return. I am a mother of 2 that just inherited an estate and the estate didn’t have any funds. I feel like I’m being taken advantage of. Seems like the same charge is being put on bill repeatedly. Not happy. Every time I turn around I am getting a new bill. Be careful!

Most times when you hire a defense attorney, chances are it is not for a pleasant situation. What made it a lot more enjoyable was the professionalism of this law firm! Every single staff member that I met was extremely professional and friendly. I had the pleasure working with them for approximately one year. Anytime I emailed or called, they responded in a timely manner. They explained the whole process and answered all my questions. They are extremely knowledgeable and amazing at what they do! I can not thank Max, Marianne and Hailey enough for all their hardwork and dedication!!! If you find yourself in a situation where you need a defense attorney, hire the best! I hired Matt Wolf, Jennifer Schlatter and Bailey Pompea, all with Allen Vellone Wolf Law Firm to represent me in a civil case. Leading up to trial, they recommended that I file additional charges on top of my original claim because, they said, the defendants responses in discovery proved their guilt, in writing, on these additional charges. The legal work to prepare multiple claims resulted in attorneys fees exceeding $80,000 just to get to mandated pretrial mediation. At mediation, all three lawyers at Allen Vellone had no argument prepared to defend my case. My attorneys did not understand, and could not defend, my original complaint. They offered no argument at all to support the additional complaints that they had recommended. The defendant's attorneys destroyed Allen Vellone in all arguments. The mediator ruled that I had no case on ANY of my claims. To have any chance of winning if I proceeded to trial, I needed to hire new attorneys. Since I could not afford to start over with new attorneys, I was forced to drop my claims. All of them! But it gets worse: At mediation, all three attorneys provided me with an estimate of my net legal costs through mediation for the entire team. I requested this so that I would be prepared to negotiate a settlement, if necessary. When I dropped my case after mediation, Allen Vellone billed me TWICE AS MUCH for mediation as they had verbally quoted. When I disputed the inflated amount, Allen Vellone said that they did not remember giving me an estimate. They still charged me an extra $10,000 to add to my losses, and to pad their pockets. Wolf's, Schlatter's and Pompea's actions clearly show that they were not interested in giving me quality representation. All they cared about was running up their fees. First by adding claims that were subsequently thrown out. Secondly by jacking up their fees when my engagement with them was ending. Instead of paying $50,000 to win a potential settlement of $200,000... with Wolf, Schlatter and Pompea, I paid $80,000 to lose and and win NOTHING!

We've filed 2 eviction ourselves & got dismissed. Someone referred Ken Davidson. He doesn't charge consultation or upfront fees so we decided to give a try. Ken & Samantha are quick to answer questions & filed fast too. We were dreading it'll be dismissed again but they got us the possession! The process was fast & painless, totally worth the money! Best part is, Ken will pick up the phone & answer your questions. Most other attorneys won't talk to you unless you pay first. I highly recommend them. If you have a bad tenant, go straight to Ken to save time & money.

Dealing with an extraordinary case of someone squatting, he is living in my home with myself and four others, he is not only squatting, he is harassing, terrorizing, and traumatizing the lives of five people. Someone else already refused to pay and left claiming they were constantly scared. It's been months, costing me thousands of dollars, and the money means nothing. This has been traumatic and It's happening to five people. This is cruel and unusual. He has done nothing extraordinary to help, just going through the steps, has taken over three months to get this processed, still planning on processing him for not paying, there will be no recourse for all the trauma, and now he just called me saying he needs to extend the trail again for personal reasons. Disgusting incompetence. I cannot believe this is even possible.

Hired this lawyer to collect a debt. 4 months later he has done nothing for the case. I even physically went to the assessors office to get documents that he needed to move forward and when I called him a couple weeks after I gave him the documents to see where he is. (BTW he has not called me once to update me because there is nothing to update when he hasn't done anything). He told me over the phone that his agency has only went down and collected the documents from the assessor. He implied that his agency did the traveling and paid the document fees. When I did that. Unreliable and Untrustworthy. Do not waste your time and money hiring.

I am deeply disappointed in the performance of District Attorney Brian Mason. His handling of the case involving Jeremey Rocha has been nothing short of a miscarriage of justice. Despite clear evidence pointing to multiple shooters and a history of violent behavior by Johnathan Jaros, Mason failed to conduct a thorough investigation. Instead, he unjustly sentenced Jeremey to life without parole for defending himself. The 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office, which represents the people of Adams and Broomfield Counties, is supposed to seek justice on behalf of crime victims and their families. It's disheartening to see such poor judgment in the people hired to serve and protect our community. How could Adams and Broomfield Counties allow someone like Brian Mason, who was elected in November 2020 and assumed office in January 2021, to be the chief law enforcement officer? Brian Mason's actions suggest a troubling pattern of corruption and incompetence. We must revisit any other cases he has overseen as DA, as his conduct raises serious concerns about the integrity of the justice system under his leadership. The people of the 17th Judicial District deserve better. The office, which prides itself on reforming the criminal justice system, needs to reassess its commitment to true justice and accountability.

I hired Michael to put together a will and trust several years ago. He assured me his fees to do the work would cover any changes in the future. He specifically mentioned that a change in marital status would be covered. The reason I give him a low rating is that he did not keep his promise. Several years later after getting married, he wanted to charge me full price to modify my will and trust. While I’m unsure if this is industry standard, it is irrelevant as he baited me with the promise of a comprehensive package. He specifically explained that the initial fee was high because it was a one time, lifetime fee. The last thing I want when hiring an estate attorney is to be taken advantage of after I’m essentially “locked in”. I spoke directly to Mr Meurer about this and he said he’d “cut me a deal” for the misunderstanding - which after comparing to other attorneys was more than double what they charged. Very frustrating. Stay away from this operation!

What a Consumer Protection Lawyer Can Do for You

A consumer protection lawyer specializes in safeguarding individuals from unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent business practices. These lawyers advocate for the rights of consumers in disputes with businesses, helping clients recover damages related to fraud, defective products, false advertising, or violation of consumer protection laws. They work to enforce laws that prevent businesses from taking advantage of consumers and ensure that businesses adhere to fair practices.

Whether you’ve been the victim of a scam, sold a faulty product, or misled by false advertising, a consumer protection lawyer can help you navigate legal options and pursue justice.

When Should I Hire a Consumer Protection Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a consumer protection lawyer when you’ve encountered unfair or illegal business practices and need legal assistance to resolve the situation. Common scenarios include:

  • Fraud or deceptive business practices: If a company misled you into purchasing a product or service under false pretenses, a lawyer can help you seek compensation.
  • Defective products: If you purchased a product that was unsafe or defective and caused harm, a lawyer can help you file a product liability claim.
  • False advertising or unfair pricing: A lawyer can assist if you were misled by deceptive advertising or charged for services or products in a way that violates consumer laws.
  • Debt collection harassment: If you're being harassed by debt collectors or are facing illegal debt collection practices, a consumer protection lawyer can enforce your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
  • Credit report issues: If errors on your credit report are affecting your financial standing, a lawyer can help you resolve disputes with credit reporting agencies or creditors under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
  • Predatory lending practices: If you've been subjected to unfair loan terms or practices by payday lenders or mortgage companies, a lawyer can help you challenge the loan and seek a resolution.
  • Data breaches or identity theft: If your personal information was compromised due to a company’s failure to protect your data, a lawyer can help you recover damages related to the breach.

What Does a Consumer Protection Lawyer Do?

A consumer protection lawyer provides a wide range of services to help protect consumers' rights and seek compensation for harms caused by businesses. Their role may include:

  • Filing lawsuits: Representing clients in lawsuits against businesses that have violated consumer protection laws, whether through fraud, deceptive practices, or negligence.
  • Negotiating settlements: Working with businesses or their insurers to negotiate fair compensation for damages caused by unfair practices or defective products.
  • Pursuing class action lawsuits: When a company harms multiple consumers, a lawyer can represent a group of plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit, seeking collective damages.
  • Advising on consumer rights: Helping clients understand their rights under various consumer protection laws and advising on the best course of action.
  • Handling product liability claims: Representing clients who have been injured by defective products and holding manufacturers or retailers accountable for the harm caused.
  • Defending against debt collection harassment: Enforcing the rights of consumers under the FDCPA and other laws that protect individuals from abusive or unlawful debt collection tactics.
  • Resolving credit report disputes: Helping clients correct errors on their credit reports that may be causing financial harm or affecting their creditworthiness.

How Are Consumer Protection Lawyers Paid?

Consumer protection lawyers typically use different fee structures depending on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work required. Common payment methods include:

  • Contingency fee: For many consumer protection cases, such as class actions or product liability claims, lawyers may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win or settle the case, taking a percentage (typically between 25% and 40%) of the awarded amount.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases or ongoing legal disputes, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates can range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as reviewing a contract or filing a small claim, a lawyer may charge a flat fee that covers all the necessary legal work.
  • Retainer fee: For clients needing ongoing legal assistance, some lawyers may charge a retainer fee, which is an upfront payment that is billed against as the lawyer works on the case.

It’s important to discuss fees upfront with your lawyer to understand how you’ll be charged and to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Consumer Protection Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a consumer protection lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal service required. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases handled on a contingency basis, the lawyer typically takes between 25% and 40% of any settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Hourly rates for consumer protection lawyers generally range from $150 to $500, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases involving complex legal issues.
  • Flat fees: For specific services like contract reviews or handling a small claims case, flat fees may range from $500 to $2,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Class actions: In class action cases, fees are often paid out of the settlement or damages awarded, and individual plaintiffs usually do not have to pay upfront.

Make sure to ask for a clear estimate of costs during your initial consultation to avoid surprises and to understand how much you can expect to pay.

Top Questions to Ask a Consumer Protection Lawyer

Before hiring a consumer protection lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and skills to handle your case effectively. Key questions include:

  1. What experience do you have with consumer protection law?
Ensure the lawyer has specific experience handling cases like yours, whether it involves product liability, fraud, or debt collection issues.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or a contingency fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and what outcome you can reasonably expect.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Make sure the lawyer has experience dealing with similar legal issues, whether it’s credit report disputes, data breaches, or defective products.
  5. What is the timeline for resolving my case?
While it can be difficult to predict exact timelines, the lawyer should give you a general idea of how long your case may take to resolve.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Consumer Protection Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable consumer protection lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Check for experience in consumer protection: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to confirm they specialize in consumer protection law and have handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle consumer protection cases.
  • Look for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) can indicate that the lawyer is committed to protecting consumer rights.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a consumer protection lawyer, come prepared with all relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Details of the product or service in question: Bring any purchase receipts, warranties, or contracts related to the product or service involved in your claim.
  • Documentation of your complaint: Provide evidence of your complaint, such as email exchanges with the company, photos of a defective product, or a timeline of events related to the dispute.
  • Communication with the business or debt collector: If you’ve communicated with the business or debt collector, bring copies of letters, emails, or phone logs.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes for your case.
  • Information on damages: Be prepared to discuss any financial losses or harm you’ve suffered as a result of the unfair business practices, including medical bills, lost wages, or emotional distress.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer understand your situation more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed with your case.
