Mr Walsh advised and assisted in the somewhat complex MEDICAID application process for my 88 year old Mother. His professional guidance and MEDICAID planning smarts ensured the MEDICAID application would meet the eligibility requirements for a successful submission. His advice to execute a Promissory Note and establish a Retainer Trust were just what was needed to make my Mother eligible, while protecting some assets. I have no doubt that the successful 1 time submission/acceptance of my Mother’s MEDICAID Application was in no small part due to Mr Walsh's knowledge and experience in Elder Law. I was faced with a very traumatic and complex family estate problem. I was referred to Peter for his litigation capabilities but also discovered his compassionate approach. I'm not sure where to begin. I think we all get to a point in our lives where we start to lose hope, hope in what's going on around us , hope in the situation we're in that isn't our fault and hope in ourselves in general. I had a couple thousand dollars of completely falsified/made up fees from my first apt. These made up fees got refereed to a debt collector which then ended up on my credit report which prevented anyone from wanting to rent to me. Again and again I was denied no landlord wanted anything to do with me which ended up affecting my life horrifically. What could I do? Nothing . That's when I was referred to Heidi. She got my case and IMMEDIATELY got to work. She knew what she was talking about that was instantly apparent and she knew the law, which made me feel like I was in good hands. She has been empathetic, non judgemental and understanding through this whole thing process. She has worked non stopped, kept me updated every step up of the way and has now actually got the fee removed from my credit report AND got me a settlement. As I type this my eyes fill up with tears because I don't think I can in words relay to Heidi how great she is and the difference shes made in my life and turning it back around when no matter how hard I tried I couldn't. My husband and I hired Jonathan after having a dispute with a contractor. This was the first time either one of us had ever hired a lawyer. Jonathan was highly recommended by a colleague and we immediately understood why. I texted him requesting urgent help on a Thursday night as our issue was time sensitive. He responded that evening and by Friday morning, we had hired him. He was able to efficiently gather enough information to start addressing our urgent concern that Friday afternoon. Within the week, our situation was resolved to our satisfaction. His responsiveness and professionalism was outstanding. He helped set expectations and educate us. He was upfront about expected costs for our case and when we ended up exceeding that, he honored his initial quote. We are in the middle of an adoption and he told us to take the difference of the quote and actual cost of his services and apply it towards the adoption. It was not expected and he certainly was not obligated to do this but was greatly appreciated. If we ever need a lawyer again, we will not hesitate to reach out. My job was eliminated after 18 yrs. I was 1 of 3 over age 60 eliminated. Since there were new employees and less seniority employees , i felt i was let go unfairly with age discrimination. Jonathan fought for a new severance contract against the medical corporation and won. He achieved double the severance i was offered per "their protocol" that was unfair. Jonathan was kind, calm, explained what i didnt understand ( which was most legal terminology!) And worked with me as my own advocate. Advising and suggesting. Mr. Oconner helped me obtain a civil judgement against a store that fraudulently got me to purchase their product that I would not have purchased if I would have known all the ingredients of the product. During the whole time while he was doing all the legal work to obtain this judgment he was very helpful to me by always explaining everything that was happening. He would always answer any and all of my questions either by phone or email right away. Often times doing so after business hours as my job had me working until after 5:00 pm. Mike has done legal work for me both personally and for each of my past three businesses over the last 15 years. He has helped me with employment related issues, purchasing and selling my companies, disputes, as well as general corporate legal work. He has always been there for me through both good times and bad. He is extremely responsive and thorough. He knows not only Wisconsin employment law almost better than anyone, but is also a great litigator/negotiator. His firm has also attracted several like minded individuals with legal skills and experience that compliment Mike's own expertise. Since I have worked with almost every Tier-1 law firm in Wisconsin over the years (in addition to some big firms in Chicago, New York, and Boston), I would say Mike is just as good (if not better) than any of those firms (or the best attorneys at those firms), and obviously his bill rates are much more reasonable! In late 2014 I decided, along with two partners, to start a small business developing smartphone applications for Android and Apple devices. My partners and I decided to move from brainstorm to business after we realized we could be making money on our fun side coding projects. We quickly found out that having an idea for a business is much different than actually forming a business.
We approached Mike with questions on what it takes to form an LLC in Wisconsin. Mike was generous with his time, knowledge and advice. We found out we needed much more than the simple LLC documents. Over the course of a number of meetings, Mike and his knowledgeable and qualified attorneys walked us through all of the legal considerations involved in starting a business with partners.
Mike’s firm drafted our Operating Agreement, LLC paperwork and anything else that was involved with making our business official. Mike was available to answer any questions we had during the process and continues to be there for counsel during our opening months.
In our first year of business, we have found ourselves coming back to Mike again and again for advice on matters we would have never thought we would’ve needed an attorney for. While it is unfortunate that I needed to engage counsel for an action against one of the major brokerage and investment banking firms, I am very fortunate to have been introduced to Sean Sweeney of Halling & Cayo. Simply stated, Sean is an outstanding attorney!
Sean is smart, professional, methodical and tenacious, which is precisely what I need given the complexities of the case and who opposing counsel is. Additionally, unlike many litigators who come off as being aggressive and combative, Sean is soft spoken, reasonable and tempered. Recently hired Sean to review a business contract. We were so impressed with how thorough Sean was. When he met with us to go over the contract, it was obvious he has some mad skills. I would have thought he spent a week studying the contract for how well he knew in it cover to cover. He didn't miss a beat! As first time going through bankruptcy we were not sure what to expect from the process much less who to trust. Greg explained each step and all fees involved before we even hired him. Attorney Jeanne Armstrong represented my interest in the extremely convoluted and contentious process of settling my father's estate. Although six other attorneys and firms were involved, Attorney Armstrong and her firm were the only ones aware of the statute that was the actual turning point of the process. As a result of her knowledge and legal skills, two of my sisters and I received substantially better settlements than had been proposed. I've had other lawyers before and nobody compares. Attorney Brittain didn't tell me to take a deal because I would lose. Instead, he listened to me and told me we should fight and go to trial. He did a psycho-drama with me and it was amazing. After the psycho-drama, I understood how he was going to win my trial. He is a fantastic lawyer!

I was very hesitant in hiring a lawyer for my car accident case but things became so overwhelming I knew I couldn't handle it alone.
